All the music files on my card have been corrupted. I tried to use StorageTools to repair it but it keeps stalling. I'd rather not have to reformat it because it would take forever to load all the songs again with the USB 1 connection.
I have had luck with Pocket Mechanic Professional. It can recover bad sectors. Also, SK Tools supposedly also can scan & recover. Otherwise you can do a Google search for SD Card recovery tools & if you have a card reader you can do it through the PC.
If this is something that keeps happening though, a format is your best bet.
Don't have an SDHC compatible reader but I just ordered one. Just hope it works in XP.
It happened to me few days ago. I am also using SDHC @ 4GB. I am using it as a storage card (through SoftickCard Export II). with this software I do not need to pull out my SD card which is a very tedious to do. Also because I do not have the compatible card reader for SDHC.
To recovery corrupted file, I bought this software called Data Doctor Recovery for Removable Media. It is a fantastic tool which can help you to recover deleted or corrupted file on your thumb drive, storage card (anything removable).
Why not give a try to both software...
I already formatted it. Tried pocket mechanic took me an hour and didn't fix it. Waiting for card reader to come so I can reload it faster. I'm just wondering what caused it and afraid it might happen again.
Sorry, guess I should've mentioned that depending on the size of the card & the amount of data that PMP can take a few hours to recover sd cards.
It worked for me, but I did it as I slept & it took about 4 hours.

My 16gb sandisk card got corrupted yesterday and apparently it has something to do with this file EncFiltLog. I cannot copy anything to the card, cannot delete anything from the card and cannot format it. I found the solution in Blackstone forum...but as a kaiser owner I cannot benefit from it because we don't have DISK MODE on kaiser. Apparently it's been cooked in a few new roms for kaiser but Disk mode doesn't work. Has anyone successfully fixed this on kaiser? I,ve spend 60 pounds on the card and I don't feel like buying another one especialy if the problem might occur again.

PROBLEM:
Now, the problem all started when try to format the micro SDHC on the phone or on the PC with card reader.
Tried with differ format program also low level not worked.
DONT USE THESE!!! Waste of time!!!
SOLUTION:
So after doing some thinking about the situation, I figured that there was a problem with the card inserted and find the file EncFiltLog on it.
It is the WM 6.1 encription file. You can't delete, move files from or in to the SDHC.
The best way to solve this issue, as the hard-reset DOES NOTHING to fix this issue, would be to have windows hopefully find the connected device and format it. Here are the EASY steps which DO NOT involve using a dozen computers and has provided the same result EVERY time; which is a working on my 8gig memory in my HTC HD.
1. Connect the HD to the computer and select DISK DRIVE as the option on the on-screen popup on your phone. Don’t select ACTIVE SYNC. If you miss it, then go into your phone and press START>SETTINGS>CONNECTIONS TAB>USB to PC and select the bullet of DISK DRIVE and hit ok.
2. On your computer, (USING A WINDOWS XP MACHINE), go into your "My computer"
3. A window for will open with two columns.(If not, change the view to "Group") We are looking at the RIGHT side right now. In there is has three categories, and we are only focusing on ONE of them. LOOK for STORAGE which should be the center category.
4. Click with right to the desired "Storage device; A: ; D: E;", it will take a minute or two depending on your computer speed and environment to populate your hard drive and connected memory devices.
5. You will eventually see your PHONE internal storage listed. IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME BECAUSE YOUR PHONE INTERNAL STORAGE IS CORRUPTED!
***BE SURE WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT IS IN FACT YOUR PHONE AND NOTHING SOMETHING ELSE LIKE YOUR MAIN HARD DRIVE OR SOME OTHER STORAGE DEVICE WITH IMPORTANT FILES ON THERE***
****I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU FORMAT THE WRONG DEVICE***
6. Choose format and let it format the drive. This should also take a few minutes. Select FAT32 and name is whatever you want! Let this finish COMPLETLY!

I received a corruption error a few months back because windows media player decided to sync my media files to my storage card. what error did you receive when you attempted to format it? I do not want to sound arrogant but when you placed the card into the micro sd/sd adapter did you unlock the adapter?

Yes that was the first thing i did. I tried formatting it on my laptop with 2 different apps and also on my PPC without success. I'm able to copy about 90% of my files to my laptop's harddrive but cannot save anything to the card or format it. The problem occured yesterday when I was creating a new Word document on my PPC... it wouldn't save to storage card and some error window poped out. Since then the phone has been a mess. It was barely usable because I had a lot of programs on my memory card which were used all the time by the ppc, had to hard reset and it's fine now of course until I try to browse files on my card.
I'm guessing that you didn't have any problems formatting your card?
Windows native formatting program gave this error: Windows cannot complete formatting
SDFormatter: the memory card is write-protected. please release the write protect switch"(have tried formatting the card with the switch in both positions to no avail)
some ppc formatting app "told" me to check whether any programs placed on SDHC card are being used by the system at the moment
I had the same problem with my 8 GB SDHC card. I spend few days trying to find solution. Most likely you card is gone for good. There is only one thing that I didn’t try and that maybe could work is to format card on Linux. They said it helps in some of the cases. Good luck with your card but be ready for the worst.

Thanks...I've tried deleting files and formatting under linux using Qparted....didn't work
Yes this doesn't look too good....I think the only thing I can do now is to look for a Kaiser rom with working DISK MODE and try to use HD users solution.
SDFormatter V2 from Panasonic
I once had the probleme and I did use the mentionned program.
It did solved my issue.
You should be able to find it for free on internet.
Regards.

Perhaps this is different than I've experienced, but multiple times my SD card has become unreadable on my Tilt, and I just run a disk check on it, it finds weird/bad stuff, then it's fine again when it's done.
Not sure what's going on with that, as I've never made any sense of the chkdisk files that are created that are parts of the bad data.

Thanks all, I've tried that Panasonic formatting program hell I have tried at least 10 other programs for formatting, repairing and checking(chkdisk didn't help either) cards none of them have worked. And the most annoying thing is that I sent an email to sandisk on thursday last week and they haven't replied yet...I'm going to claim warranty replacement.
Do you have a digital camera? If so try and format with that as i had a simlar problem again a SanDisk to which the computer would not format, the phone would not format yet i used Fuji DSLR to format and it worked.

Crap...I do have a digital camera but it uses XD cards they are of different shape than SD's. I'll try to find someone with a SD capable digital camera.
Thanks.
Ok looks like my dad has a SD camera one problem though it is some ancient device it's not SDHC capable. Will it work and if it will, won't I waste my card in some way?

Will need to be SDHC compatable and as i say i can't be sure every camera will work, just did for me but if your going to have ti exchange it or it's duff then whats the risk?
Sounded like last ditch efforts to me
to bad ther is no followup on this matter, but i would advise a digital camera to. it always helped me out. lowlevel format on a nikkon dslr!
Have you tried this little baby.... http://www.cnetx.com/format/download.asp
The trial allows you to format without purchasing, but it's worth buying for the next time it happens - I was stuck with all other programs not working until this one.
Good luck.
Ps. Sorry if it doesn't work and I get your hopes up!!
Had a similar problem 2 days ago with my micro SD SanDisk Class 2 8Gb that I use on my HD. Became corrupted after trying to erase some movies while connected to my PS3.
Tried this: www[dot]sdcard[dot]org/consumers/formatter [didn't work: Micro SD write protected]
Tried GParted on Ubuntu, didn't work!
Tried MiniTool Partition Wizard and other XP formatting tools, didn't work!
Tried formatting with the SD inside the Blackstone and connected to PC, didn't work!
Got VERY frustrated and bought a new cheap micro SD 8Gb class 6+adaptor [1300Yen, about 15Eur]
Now I followed the Digital camera trick, and formatted the corrupted microSD in less than 5 sec!!!
I think it doesn't matter what phone you use the SD in, any relatively recent digital camera will do the trick for you.
THANK YOU
Hi, I purchased the Transcend 8GB Micro SDHC TS8GUSDHC6 about 3-5 Mo ago, for my AT&T tilt/8925, The issue I am having is that after about 1.9Gb, has been written to it, the transfer will either fail, or it will just sit and the completion will raise indefinitely. I do not have a SDHC compatible reader for my Pc, nor do I have another card over 2Gb. I was wondering if the phone cannot address over 2Gb, or if there may be something wrong with the card?
Hy
maybe i ma wrong, but i think you must format the card in "FAT 32". if you formated the card in "FAT" you can't get it over 2 GB... i don't it for sure

If you are attempting the transfer using Activesync:
You are very patient
Activesync is incredibly slow for large file transfers
Activesync has a bug where it appears file transfers are starting again continuously even though they do go through (eventually).
If you don't have a compatible card reader and have not partitioned the card, it should have already come with a Fat32 partition so DrWinstons concerns shouldn't be an issue. If you've put it in another (old) device to wipe it though, this may well be what's happened. Where has the card been?
The card was bought for this phone, and has only been in it. as far as active sync, it will write 1.5gb in about 35-40 min, then if I try to add another 1.5gb file, it will say 35min and count down for a few minutes, then suddenly the transfer bar, seems to stop and the timer goes up to over 2Days, and will continue to raise, I have left it for 10Hours one night and it made it no further.
Update, I am formatting with pocket mechanic now, Fat 32 4k cluster Low level, Backup Fat
Update2 Well format failed, now the card cannot be read by the OS, I am going to RMA the card. Guess that will fix it
1. I have encountered the same problem and rectified with an SD reader. My SD reader works for SDHC 8GB card. So perhaps if you can find an SD card reader, try it.
2. As for formatting with pocket mechanic, it doesn't seem to work for me as well. What I did was to use error correction in Win XP using the SD card reader. This worked for me.
3. You could also try downloading some usb host software bypassing ActiveSync totally and use your 8GB card like a regular flash/thumb drive which should dramatically improve your file transfer time.
I was listening to music on my Tilt using S2P through my home stereo when I received a text message. My phone froze up and when I restarted it, it couldn't find the 16GB SD card. All of the programs installed on the card were of course unavailable. My laptop nor my desktop will recognize the card either. I have the data on the card backed up on my laptop, but if I can't get the card reader to recognize it, then I can't reformat and reinstall. Do you guys have any suggestions or should I just invest in another card. I guess in the future I'll turn the phone off in the connecton manager when I use S2P or else use another MP3 player.
You want to try some repair tools for the SD card. You may get it back working, if you do copy card to computer, reformat card & reload it.
Heres a repair tool: http://rapidshare.com/files/267433082/Memory_card_recovery.rar
Do a search on SD card repair you should find some info on recommended repair/recovery softwares.
I was able to get the panasonic sd card reformatter to locate the card.
However, it locks up on 0%. It may have something to do with my laptop's OS being Vista 64. I paid 50 bucks for the card from DZ-Tech on ebay. They had 100% rating. I really don't think the card was faulty. I was using a cooked rom and an unauthorized mp3 player. I contacted DZ-Tech, so we'll see. Damn, it I could just get a computer to recognize it, I could reformat it.
I finally got it fixed!
The Panasonic SD Card Reformatter finally found and reformatted it. It took a long time, but I walked out of the room and forgot about it for a while and it took. lol I guess it's like watching water boil.
If this is in the wrong section I apologise
Hi, well my milestone started getting really slow and crashing,
the back touch button at the bottom panel then stopped working and then the SDHC card could not be read by the phone.
I sent the phone off to be repaired, however the microSD won't connect to the computer. Searching on google has brought me no help at all (just those rubbish 'tech-help sites' which copy and paste from each other...)
the computer will add a drive (unused drive letter of D) which is shaded out, and says
'please insert a disk into drive D'
So I think that it has broken. Is there any way of recovering data? there's photos and alot of stuff on it.
thanks very much,
Ross
What you probably need (unless your card is really damage), is to format it, anyway if you search on the net there are some free programs that may help you to recover data from an SD (I don't remember which ones, you have to search them by yourself..)
If you need to format it, sometimes is just enough connect the SDcard and disconnected again and let windows see it as a new drive, then it will ask you automatically to format it.
I recommend (to avoid problem like this in the future) to do the FULL format not the quick one.
If with windows won't work, you can use a software to partition hard drives, like this two (the best actually):
http://download.cnet.com/Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html (support linux partitions for app2sd)
or:
http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm
I recommend you to try first with Partition Wizard Home Edition, I had your same
problem a couple of times and this sofware always helped me, and, if in the future you are planning to flash new roms and modifiy your phone, just as a suggestion, is always better backup your SD, on your PC or on a pen drive.
Good luck, and let me know if you will succeed..
Thanks for that, I tried this out, but unfortunately none of it could help me
My SD card won't connect at all, the drive appears but it won't show a card at all, even in the partition tool, or the windows control panel, disk manager
thanks,
Ross
Is it a 16gb card?
On windows xp, you may have a problem seeing it.
You would need a card reader that can read 16gb sd cards if this is the case.
I know this because I've had a devil of a time making an ext2 partition on my 16gb card this week
I finally managed to do it but nothing I did made windows xp see the card through an older card reader. I had to keep the card in the phone and use the phone as a card reader
it's an 8gb card, and I use windows 7 sorry, I bought a 16gig one as a replacement, and it reads fine, I just want to get the data, I can't even re-format cause it won't recognise it :/

Seems like you've tried everything, last suggestion, try this:

You may get lucky...
I have a 32g micro sd card that Ive been using in my N1. Its been basicly empty Ive had some music on it and some apps. I wanted to put some more music on it, so I transfered about 100 mp3 files over to it at once. Since I didnt have any music on it at the time I didnt really have a folder for it. So I put all the files on the root of the sd card. Now since I did that I cant get the sd card to read. My N1 says that the card has no files and if I want to use it I have to format it. When I choose to format it nothing happens. The card still reads blank sd card, I was hoping someone had some idea on what to do ?
Can you put it in a computer and see if the computer finds anything on the card?
Ya I tried to put in on my computer with an adapter and from my phone wont read.
Did you try formatting with the computer?
ya, I tried to format it and it said it was unsucessfull
1.Format with your phone Settings/Storage/Erase SD Card
2.Format using this HP USB Format Tool* (Most powerful format tool on Windows)

hello abvthegod
Where did you buy the sdcard? from Ebay? how much? It is possible that you have a fake 32GB sdcard. It happended to me aswell, I bought one in ebay, really really cheap, The sdcard seemed to work fine until I reached 1Gb, then weird things started to happen, my nexus could not recognise it, my computer crash, my camera complained.
Finally I found out that the sdcard was in reallity a 1GB card, if you try to save things in the sdcard once it goes beyond 1Gb the card did not complain, continued fine, but if I tried to take out the card and put it back any file written after the 1Gb was or 0 bytes or simple did not exists.
From linux I eventually managed to create a single partition of 1Gb (leaving the rest as a unpartitioned space) and like that I can use the card normally without issues.
You will have to try to do something like this. Usually this cheaters create this fake sdcards from 500mb or 1Gb sdcards.
You should report this user to ebay, they managed to ban the user who send me this sdcard before I even tried to complain about him ...
Good luck and I hope it is not the same problem for you!
I finally bought a 32gb expensive card from a local ebay user and that one works great in my nexus.
If it's a name brand, even if you bought it online, you can probably take it back to best buy, future shop, walmart, wherever, and just say you don't have the receipt. They just send it back to the manufacturer anyway.
