So,
My new site:
http://freewarepocketpc.org
I don't have all of the programs on there but I have a lot of useful programs and you can use. I know there are a lot of other sites out there but these are my suggestions and things I know work on the AT&T Tilt.
Hope I don't get banned since I've contributed and asked questions.
My site is http://freewarepocketpc.org/
I like the idea of having a site to collect all the various useful bits and bobs on, but you really need to be crediting sources for your posts.
For example: in the KaiserTweak post you don't link back to XDA-Dev's thread, you don't credit the author, and the download link is on your own site. Bad form.
RSS Support ???
Is there RSS Support for you blogs ???
I would love to have it in Google Reader.
By the way nice collection ...
- TKN
Looks like a good resource. Thanks!
Looks nice, another site I'll have to check everyday now, thanks.

Not to mention illegal
I'm afraid that starting threads to promote your own site or even other sites of this type is not on!.
If someone asks a question, by all means suggest a site or even refer them to your own site but we are not here to be promoters of members sites. So the way you let folk know about your site is by being helpful to others , answering questions and OK from time to time giving a link to something on your site
I also take note of the poster above who feels you might give more credit to the developers and in particular this site.
There is also the fact that until this point the OP has only 4 posts. That brings this thread precariously close to SPAM.
So far the OP has the balance wrong here. It should be lots of help and support to other members and perhaps the ocassional mention of his site. NOT 4 posts and a thread started with the sole purpose of promoting his site.
This is not open season on starting threads to take people away from here rather than supporting THIS site by putting up the collected links and tips in our own Wiki site. If we already have the information in the Wiki (as I notice lots of the registry tweaks are) then there is no need to refer people elsewhere.)
I am inclined to close this thread, what do the members think?
Mike
I'm with you Mike.

Hi, I would come to say Hello to all forum members here. It is my first post. in fact, i want to share my views with other people.
Hi xpcommon!
I'm sure you can share your views on pretty much anything you want!
It can be helpful to other members if you fill in your device details and location, possibly a discrete signature and have a look through this introduction: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4534
It's a great board

I wish to start this poll to express an Idea I had this weekend. I have been browsing this site for a couple of years now and have noticed people starting threads for cab files only the only problem is that the first page is great then 2nd a 3rd pages get worse and worse pretty soon your looking through hundreds of posts and the thread is crap. My suggestion would to be to add another section in addtion to the main wizard forum seprate of upgrading and general and make a cabs section this would include specific cabs to make registry changes not all inclusive cabs also it would be for fixes and software to make our lives easier and to make it better we can have the moderators sign off on the cabs to verify they are "correct" or that they are relivant. The moderator can also have the right to delete superfolous posts and add cabs to the first post keeping the site clean. I think this will also keep the forum clean. So if this is a good Idea I'd like you to put your 2 cents in. Moderators if this seems like a good idea then I'd be happy to help.
I would like this post to be deleted at the end of this month as not to contribute to the problem.
I'm going to post an example
Windows Mobile 6 and 5 moderator approved Cabs
Change the G in the title bar to E for edge (link) Moderator approval(put names of moderator that has looked at the cab and verified funtionility here)
Windows Mobile 6 only moderator Approved Cabs
Turn on power management of SDcard (link) Moderator approval(put names of moderator that has looked at the cab and verified funtionility here)
Posts Can be added for example apps then deleted once a moderator tests and approves

Thanks Gys it looks like we are getting better results
This is infact a very good idea!!
Further, can we have "onshare" amongst all the XDA-DEV guys, so as to share cabs/tweaks and Roms safely and securely?
http://www.onshare.com/en_gb/index.php?ck=ok
on share
Sounds a good saves a lot of time
on share looks good set it up my id is easymob i have some roms to share
Good idea, it can be every hard to find a CAB you used once before and can't find after a ROM upgrade. I think it would also clean up the forums by reducing any CAB request threads etc.
It will indeed be a great time saver, as it's really hard currently to go through a lot of pages without actually having the link to the cab file.
Great Idea.
Isn't this why we have a Wiki?
Great time saver for members but a great time waster for mods, don't ya think?
anything that makes this website better is good with me.. this is the best site on the web.
time waster
Infact it would be quite the opposite problem. The moderator only need to monitor 1 thread and this will infact save time. How say you moderators. By keeping one thread clean and having a checks and balances system it will let the community know that we are trying to accomplish a goal towards providing resources for fixes etc. but keeping in mind that people in the community don't want to waste htere time either. As for the wiki that is a good resource but the idea is to keep the forum clean. If people had a forum link to go to then they would just need to go there for safe fixes and possibly not post over and over again. As aside I frequently ask moderators to erase my threads that seem not to help the community. I would also like to see more of these practices on this forum but I'm not a moderator so i have to rely on them.
suggestion
Another suggestion would to make all cabs registered as XDA Developers open source I have posted a working cab as an example. Maybe eventually we can work as a community to make our own freeware tweak utility suck as Tweaks2k.
Use the WIKI.
that's a good idea , and to make it even easier , we can upload some cabs we had already downloaded so everybody can use it
I agree with putting this in the wiki. There are still too many, "why isn't my device upgrading when I flash the rom?" questions going on right now for the moderators to do this very effiectively.
My vote goes to Wiki also! The idea is pretty cool and save a lot of time to all of us!
Time is money!
yea i agree... being organized will release the site from numerous senceless threads wen its easier to find something your looking for
Consider this another vote using the WIKI.
That's why it exists right ????
WIKI
OK how about putting a link on the forums page directly to the cabs on wiki
Yeah I'm thinking we would not have any problems posting on the FTP site unless their are roms. If you want I can host a site for Moderators to share cab files ECT. But I too would not want anyone to post illeagal software on it just fixes and patches

Sounds like a good idea in theory. But, I have a feeling it will also start out good and turn into a crap thread again. But it will depend on the moderators, if they are willing to put in the time and effort to keep it clean.
Here's the XDA-DEVELOPERS Kaiser Wiki.
It's VERY nice; make sure you search it first for ANYTHING Kaiser-related.
Here's the XDA-DEVELOPERS GENERIC Wiki.
It contains generic info - not only Kaiser-related questions. You will want to read it first if you for example look for a software. Of particular interest are Menneisyys' articles, Bibles and tutorials in the half of the page - you'll definitely want to check them out if you have a generic software / gaming / application / hacking-related question.
Search XDA-DEVELOPERS using Google
(already setup to search XDA-Developers only. You can also easily find posts by a specific user - enter user name followed by search words)
OR
Search the WIKI using Google
(already setup to search XDA-Developers WIKI only. WIKI = Categorised library of useful facts and information)
OR
.Search ENTIRE INTERNET using Google
.OR
.Search using Forum's own Search facility
Remember that Google takes some hours to "crawl" sites for new info. so results will not show the absolute latest posts.
OR
You can alternatively search the whole site using this google search. http://www.google.com/coop/cse?cx=011628417748231547811:k6qzkiiveps
Also, there're two Wiki's you'll be interested in:
Kaiser Wiki: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
Generic Wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/
Somewhat edited the OP.

The site has running costs and donations are needed to pay the costs. Donations to XDA-Dev can be made by clicking on the Donate button on the brown bar near the top of the page. (Same bar that has the User CP, Search and Log out buttons.) But here's a link anyway: http://forum.xda-developers.com/donations.php
Any donations to individual members are entirely up to you. The principle we have is that members do not act for financial reward. If however a member makes an outstanding contribution or if you think they could do more but perhaps due to lack of equipment they can't - then you might make a donation to an individual
Mike
Is it possible for the [search forum]/[search this thread]/[search wiki] buttons on this site to be linked to google directly instead of the current situation?
I would hazard a guess that most folks are searching for older threads to check for answers to their (duplicate) questions and such, users should be able to see newer posts without searching at all.
Thanks
I know the site Admin has been working on the search functions in the hunt for improvements to be made. This I think is on-going but perhaps we'll get an update in a couple of days.

i recommend some super duty spring cleaning and get things more organized and possibly limit posting access to stop clutter in here

The problem is that is an absolutely mammoth task. There are thousans of threads and tens of thousands of posts. It is also complicated as the posts are often inter-related and deleting one leaves others hanging and not making much sense.
The idea is that the WIKI is the place for confirmed answers and tested solutions. Every member has a duty I believe, to spot things in the forums that have reached a sensible answer to problems and then go and create a section in the WIKI that cuts out all the chit chat and offers the edited solution in a neat condensed form. So yes, some forums do end up messy, but they are the talking shop, the WIKI is intended to be the tidy area for concise answers/solutions.
Not enough members take on this responsibility - the Mods are volunteers and there is only one day to day Admin. The Mods are generally kept busy with reported posts and squabbles of one sort or another and spotting the odd thing as they browse.
So if folk have a particular interest in a certain area, or have followed a problem from start to final answer, then get to grips with the WIKI and add a section that gives the refined solution.

Ahhh the happy ventings of an angry scotsman
I saw two n00bs helping each other earlier on today. It made me all warm and fuzzy inside lol
Dear readers,
I just read this post and thought i'd share this great news.
It's about the New Opera Browser Release 8.65 with a Flash 7 active-X addon. I've tested it and i can state that watching Youtube movies on the original Youtube website in your Opera Browser finally works.
More info can be found by clicking on above link.
Still: I personally recommend TCPMP+videoflashbundle, works way better than this combo for me but for anyone who's interested have a go at it.
Have fun and please leave some comments or remarks.

Please bare in mind that I don't support downloading warez and/or the use of it.

Yeah, why are you replying to a thread that is four months old?
i am opening this thread somehow inspired by the endless debate concerning if dutty did or did not something blamable. as long as my thought is somehow off topic related to that thread i preffered to open a new one
so, i am asking you guys from this forum (supposed a friendly and share free forum) about your opinion concerning applications that are posted here.
are you agree that guys, or companies that are developing applications for which they charge a certain amount of money to post their work here?
i am not talking about request for donation, but about applications that you can download only for money
if you look around this forum you will find some of these applications and you will understand what i mean
i belive this forum is a HUGE marketing tool and, if those guys are allowed to post their work here free of charge, then they also should make these applications free
if not, i belive the admins of this site should delete any threads, post, links, whatever, about these kind of applications
this is my opinion and i strongly belive that sharing under this forum should remain free of charge.
what do you think?
I really think that taking this matter again is not good for this community, the forum Administrator explained all and this thread has no sense.
