I have used 3 different roms and I have overclocked, etc. I had all these great cabs and stuff but when I got finished doing everything I went right back to the same old wm6.... I like it. I do want it to be faster and look better, etc. I guess what I want to know is what do you guys recommend as being the best and necessary cabs to put on the wing. Is it possible only I like wm6....
I think im in the same boat as you. I think the problem for me is that the software is not well integrated into the phone and it just becomes a huge clutter. Granted the cube and the pocketCM is cool but it just gets old..
Compared to this I previously had was the SPB Pocket Plus.
That home software was well integrated and very easy on the eyes.
Also, iv been tired of the bugs that I have with the cooked roms and its driving me nuts. lol No offense to the ROM cookers! Im just too lazy to fix them.
Even with all of the bugs in the ROMs they cook, it still works like 50 times better than the default T-Mobile ROM.
Not only that, the ROMs that are cooked, (and being cooked), are getting better, and well as the battery life too.
The main question you need to ask yourself is: What do you need? Why do you want it?
Do you want your phone to be a showoff? Or do you want some usefull apps?
Main reason that I cook in what I consider useless apps (to me) is that I know other ppl use it, and that the ones using the stuff I dont, start posring why removed that app, I would use your rom if this and that and so on
But I try to keep it to a minumum when cooking a "fully loaded" rom, I could add alot of more stuff, but why?
Im leaning more and more to less is better, but ofcourse, im cooking roms, and its sort off cool to "showoff" to my friends, witch only have nokias and sony ericsson and its like (useless phones )
But its no that cool anymore, my personal rom is quite small and have few apps, only the stuff I use.
cheers
Personally I havent found a rom that Im perfectly happy with. Ive used three of ITJE's roms and theyre great. But after a few days of use I find that things that I use on a daily basis are missing. So my decision was that I should start making my own. I decided that I was going to take the stock tmo, cut it back and add in the things that I want. That way I have the things that I need, more memory for the phone to play with. And the best thing of all is that Im happy.
Yeah I use Itje's roms and they are awesome. But as soon as another lite or superlite version comes out I'm flashing it right away. I like as little as possible on the roms I use so that I can just customize myself.

I would be very interested to know what is in your personal ROM.
I think ITJE's Rom's are great and they basically fulfill my every need.
People are always going to complain about what they want on a rom ..etc.. Sure there are things I'd like taken out of roms and put into roms ...etc... but we aren't in a position to complain when these Roms are being provided to us free of charge after A LOT of hard work by ITJE and other rom cookers....
Everyone needs to Keep in mind, that all this "I want this, I want that" has to be very annoying to the rom cookers when they are donating their time and effort into making the roms... especially ITJE who doesn't even own a Wing .. so he has to put extra effort and time into making Wing roms, because he is unable to test them properly.
I'm interesting in looking into making roms (if I ever find the time) ... but for the moment, we should all just be thankful of what we have, that is FREE

I second that. Well said. And this is coming from a complainer about the missing Internet Sharing feature. I didn't blame ITJE for dropping this from the rom. Just wanted to find out how to put the darn thing back on. If I want it that bad I would just go back to the stock rom. I am still using the Lite rom and loving it. Waiting to put the last one on but you never know when ITJE will surprise us again.
He has enough warnings and caveats so it really is burner beware. You know what you are getting into.

Hey Itje,
Iv used your touchit 2.0 and 2.3 beta! I actually thought the 2.0 was more stable and bug free on my perticular phone. I actually kept 2.0 for a month! llol
Anyways, Is there a ROM which is just bone stock minus the TMOBILE customization? Or really Lite cooked rom? For the Wing ofcourse!
Thanks
I agree I like ITJEs ROMS as well... I think the less is better is more my style I am planning on cooking my own ROM in the near future. I am waiting to learn alot more first though. I don't want to get in over my head... I think that all the extra wares, plus bugs can kinda get to me.
I have noticed most chefs have started using manilla 2.5 in the main cooked roms, From what i understand is that it is still in development and still very buggy. Why is it being used as a finished product??

I agree with your sentiment. Newer is not always better. Especially if the newer product only partially works. I guess it's just excitement over something fresh, and it's a great thing that the great chefs here are trying things out and trying to improve 2.5. For me, the best ROMS by far are still Touch_X 10.1 and Touch-IT 10.4. Stable, fast and you know everything will work.

Since when are the roms here "finished products"...
why not?
its stable enough for me...
I tried a few manila 2.5 ROMs and loved the UI.
That said I'm back on pure 6.5 because of the bugs.
At least I don't until it finally support landscape mode...

pretty much the same reason you flashe new ROMs.
its cool cause its new.
just take some time and ask yourself why u allways flash new ROMs and not use your old ones whch are usualy perfectly running and mostly bugfree.
once u find the answer, u have the answer for your question too.
PS: havnt encountered any 2.5 bug yet. its just running for me.
i think its the same drive the reporters get their hands on each scoop.
i am for a more stable rom than newer ones.
but i always flash new ones just to get the feel of the "new" things to come,
see the potential of how far they can still go.
don't worry! chef's will stop using manila 2.5 soon because every1s gonna be fed up with it when 2.6 starts being cooked in.

I think its fantastic whether buggy or not the chefs take the time to let us try the future roms & let us get a play about with them long before theyre released. Remember Manilla lndscape was a big thing a few months ago, now its almost perfect & with WinMo 6.5 aren't we lucky. Keep it up guys & please stop whingeing fellas, a coupla months down the road it will be almost perfect!

Things are fine over here except for the weather but as you know we're used to it.....LOL. Take care mucker!
Let's be honest, the standard xperia rom was fine for everyday use...so we choose to chage to custom roms out of interest rather than necessity. Most of the chefs cook up roms for their own use, and then choose to release them. They can post what they want, we have no real right to demand this or that because we are not consumers...the service is free. Most chefs seem to find manila2.5 adequet for their everyday use, therefore they cook with it. Those chefs who are mainly cooking for the community with take in your feedback and hence offer various roms deoending on your needs and likes, I personally find 2. lovely to use and look at, and can't complain about the odd soft reset or glitch!
Ok tbh im sick of the x1...i got it changed 1 time already becouse of a crack in a case...got the new x1 with the new case model...so i guess i wont get the crack again. My question is How to manipulate damage to get the phone 2/3 times changed and after that to chose a new phone or money back...i still have waranty 1year...suggest good ideas not the stupid ones...

Hey, Orelsi is right.
I'm not sick about my X1. Actually you are complaining about the OS, Windows Mobile (the one you call "system"), so I do not see the point of intentionally damage your X1.
Yes, I am sick about X1 cracks, but if only I would have a no-crack X1 it would be my perfect device.
P.S.: btl, I have no lags and crashes (see my signature if you are looking for a fast & stable ROM). Are you with standard ROM? No, I suppose you are not. So, please put the original one back if you want a stable ROM, otherwise this is a developer forum, with instable stuff, so please accept its pros and cons.

I already have that. Maybe instead of spending your time trying to thinkk of ways to cheat someone, you should read some info/topics/etc. about your device.
I can't see how a software issue would be fixed by damaging your hardware anyway lol.

Actual WM 6.5 ROM are stable for daily use... at least for my standard daily use.
If you want something like "WOOOOW", try WM6.1 with Manila2, or NRG ROM WM6.5 with Manila 2.5 (didn't noticed any big bug) or WM6.1 with FEWidgetLite (it simulates Omnia widgets, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4275422), or SPB 3.0 (you can try it before buying) or PointUI and its endless number of widgets.
I think it is enough work for you for one month!
Obviously, if you think that just the iPhone deserved your "WOOOOOW"... then, why did'nt you bought an iPhone?!
I have tried many of the custom ROMs, but still prefer the generic ROMs, R3A with tweaks is perfect for me.
Remember that WinMo will never be super fluid or full of useless eye-candy (at least until WinMo 7 lol).
i cant believe such thread exists lol

Not to be a wise-ass, but if they are invisible how do you see them?
Anyway Elijus is suffering from a common problem. A user blaming his product inappropriately. Orelsi is happy with stock ROM, I got a custom ROM I like. If he flashed ROMs he didn't like its his own damn fault. Read the first post on any ROM thread.
Most importantly I don't think Elijus' conduct is appropriate. If you read the tone of his statements and the way he is blaming cooks for not making a perfect ROM that HE wants it is clear to me that he is displaying poor taste. I think he should remember that these cooks are doing all of us a favor and if he wants a stable phone, get a stable ROM. If he wants the latest he can try a newer 6.5 ROM, but don't be surprised when it is buggy.
To Elijus: Most importantly don't hate on those who provide a free service/product for you to use. Just because you are too petty and self-centered to say "Thank You," you just hate.
just send it in they will fix it ... after the 2nd try and its not done to your liking request a new device.
thats how i got my new x1 about 2 weeks ago.

As i told in my last post im not against anyone or anything and im not hating the cooks.Ofc i would thank them if i would get a rom that i could stay on...As u see everyone makes everything, everything is cool BUT still mostly not usable...maby the 6.5 from itje will come out good.tho i would like the clean rom not the f***** with widgets and stuff...ill put what i need by my self...about iphone-the phone is not the best and as u know in US the production costs only 178$ its i think way cheaper then x1 and i suppose the phone isint stronger then x1 but they DO have a OS that runs so nice and so good...ofc the os is not customiseable like our winmo...and thats where is the problem of a iphone and i think it gets fast booring.

Maybe you should do some googling/youtube of the phone you're looking at first before you get your phone.. and then go to the store and try it. They'll always let you try phones.. unless you're too shy to ask
Not many good customizable phones atm, mainly just the HTCs/iPhone.. what exactly are you looking for anyway?

Hi all, I have had a search around and cant find the answer to my question. I expect to get flamed, but here goes.
Having access to all the great roms here, I still dont know which to go for. Many have asked the same thing, but the answer is always the same try them out for yourself. I appreciate the hard work that goes into cooking the roms (or maybe I dont as I would never attempt it) and no one wants to say which is better, but to those of us who are either noobs or just want an improved kaiser the time involved trying them all out can be prohibitive.
I would love to have a new rom that does what I want and then to be able to donate to the chef for the work they put in to developing it. I use my phone so much I really cant be bothered saving data/programs and then re-stalling them until I find a rom that suits. I appreciate the problems that everyones needs are different, but are they so different? Full of features, reliable, fast as poss and looks good, this may describe most roms but I dont know without trying them all or be told which people prefer. If a chef knows that most people dont want a particular feature but definately want another they can see by the downloads which rom is the most popular. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (coupled with innovation).
I have an unlocked orange UK, WM6, rom 1.81.61.2 WWE (dated 09/20/07), Radio 1.27.14.32, but really dont know what would be the best feature rich, fast, best looking, impressive rom.
I stand ready to be charred
Just randomly install one..
That is your answer.
There is no straight jacket answer because truth is like a diamond. did you get it my friend..
So if I happen to install one that Im not happy with, I may think "oh is that the best on offer, I wont bother again". Im afraid it seems like everyone has to re-invent the wheel in trying a rom out.
Have you installed a rom and then thought wow what a load of rubbish? If people dont know then more will have the same experience, just trying to avoid that. Dare I say that the cooking of roms is not my main interest, but appreciate that it is to others and also appreciate the work that goes into them. Am I being selfish in wanting something that is stable with as I said lots of features etc? Probably, but the same can be said about anything if your not an expert.
Im not trying to be a pain just want some advice to save a lot of time and messing about
Can't give you more info than others as it's all a flash try if don't like flash something different.
If don't have the time to do this the best bet is just to stay stock.
We all install ROMs once in a while don't find it fits our needs yet the one thing we know is that it takes the flasher about 10mins to flash then an hour to play compared to the average ROM taking days to build with having to flash @ every change...
Hey
No need to fear as I was also the same like you when I joined XDA, it is overwhelming seeing the number of custom ROMS out there as well as the extreme amount of information on XDA itself. But after a while you get used to it and draw a simple conclusion, you simply cannot absorb it ALL unless you dedicate your entire life to it.
However you can slowly learn the ropes about the ROMS and proceed.
To answer your question: at the moment it seems like the WM 6.5 roms are the best looking, most feature rich and quite quick to boot, however to me they seem to a bit more unstable and open to flaws than the WM 6.1 roms which have the benefit of being cooked for longer and thus have had the number for bugs reduced. I have used two 6.5 ROMs and have not been able to get them to work with complete functionality I require. So I've decided to wait a while.
So to start of with you should probably find one of the popular WM 6.1 roms (just sort the rom forum by views or replies and you're bound to see whats popular) and flash that to your phone. I am currently using Sakajati's Hyperdragon IV and it is awesome and stable, but you can look around as there is no guarantee that that will work as excellently for you as it has for me. However by using the 6.1 rom I have learnt a fair bit also with the help of the XDA forums and search function. I am now competent enough to solve issues that arise from newer buggier roms etc.
So yeah as the previous guys have mentioned, its trial and error to a certain extent. What works for me may not work for you and it is best to start of with something a bit more stable in favour of features etc. In addition once you find out about the best applications to enhance the phone and use it in conjunction with the cooked ROMs they become even better. I for example am using the 6.1 ROM with SPB Mobile shell which really makes the phone IMHO so awesome that I don't feel the need to move over to a 6.5 rom as everything on my phone works and it provides me with the perfect and efficient functionality that I require.
In the end if you can't land on a custom ROM to your liking, don't give up there might be one out there that works, it just takes patience and a bit of work.
Thanks for the replies, fishzn appreciate the advice, tried looking for the hyperdragon rom but appears to have been taken off. Not sure where to get it from? Tried the authors site, but log in problems seem to be affecting many there.
Thanks again.
Here is the thread on sakajati's forums with the download links for the ROM, you need to register on that forum to download. Don't know about the login problems though, my account is logged in with no issues really. Anyway YGPM
i have gone back to a 6.1 rom having tried several 6.1s before then a few 6.5s.
i found the 6.1 more reliable and stable (never got messages working properly on 6.5). i avoid the lite/fast ones also now as i didnt really notice any speed increase but did notice that i was forever looking for cabs to add back in what was missing. i have a 8gb card loaded with apps and expect them all to work.
just give one a go. you get a feel pretty quick for how it runs you own stuff.
use a good backup program (i use spb backup) and keep a full copy (or 2) on a pc of your sd card.
WARNING: changing roms is very addictive, it will take away your free time (but it is fun)
Stop being a little girl (unless you are one) and jump in..
Each rom has a thread and in that thread people talk about it. Read or jump in head first, either way you could have found the rom of your dreams by now..
Ok so I've been on serendipity 7 for a while now, and since I did that i've dropped pretty much from keeping up to date on any thing rom related.. My phone starts acting funny sometimes so I think its time for an update..
So I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to which rom to use. My preferences are that its very fast and responsive on the cappy, very stable and nearly bug free.. GPS that works with <30s lock time..
I've thought of trying CM7 or even CM9 for that matter since I think ICS looks pretty good.
Tho I'd like to hear people's suggestions that have done nothing but flash different roms on a daily basis to try out..
Thank you for any suggestions made..
To suggest again, read the threads try a few and see what fits you best.

See I would try other roms, to see which I like best, however I just don't have the time to sit there and flash roms over and over again, I'm a busy person that needs his phone to just work with the apps that I need.. So I can't be flashing each day to install apps each day to try to find which rom I like best out of the hundreds there are..
Which is why I asked for anyone's suggestions that have tried multiple roms already. I've already looked around and really can't decide on one, which is why, again I'm asking for a little assistance. I don't need people like you to come in here telling me to go look when thats what I've already done..
Well, based off your comments it sounds like you should leave it stock or what you already have.
Since you don't have time to hack things around, it's not best to switch when you already have something installed or could go to a stock working/rooted phone.
Ask each person here and you may get a different answer, its a preference thing.
Really a loaded question.
Best thing to do is to try them each out, but you don't have the time - so...
Try out Doc's Master ICS V12, best rom there is. I have install many different roms and i always felt there is something missing. You will like it if you give it a try.

We are all the same. Point being, spend some time to read about each rom thread and comments and decide what you want for yourself. There's no easy way out, asking here will give you mixed responses. If you dont wanna pit the time to try roms, then stay on stock. Its simple and works without problems=the real time saver.

It's nice to get people's suggestions, (especially developers and testers) when it comes to the different options.
In my unprofessional opinion, CM9 was very smooth for me, and the most stable one I've tried so far. I like the look and customization of aokp nostalgia, which is what I'm currently on. I was on Doc's Master 11, and that was nice as well. besides that I haven't tried the others yet, so I can't give you too much more. Good luck!
