No message ringtone/Unable to access windows folder - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Not sure if this is related, but when someone sends me a text message, no sound, just the message. I have been into sounds and changed it, Its the same when i send a message, it used to make a sound when sending one. Although when someone rings the ringtone works.
Also not sure if this is related, but when i go into file explorer, then into windows folder, it wont let me in, and just keeps trying to access the folder by wait icon of the windows thingy spinning around.
Any ideas thanks..

Anyone any ideas????

O2 xda mini s message alert

I want to put my own message alert tone into the phone and i thought the logical way was to replace the existing one in the windows folder with a file of the same name....doesnt seem to work...is it more complex than i imagine, any body have an answer?
if i got you right you want to change a text message notification, ay?
if so, isn't it better to go to
Start>Settings>Personal>Sounds&notification>Sounds
then you pick up
Messaging: new text message
form the dropdown list and thats it... well almost, as the sounds in *.wav format need to be placed in windows folder. windows or windows/rings, not sure now...
so just put wave file of any name there and give it a try
cheers
thats great but already been there and in the drop down there is no mention of text msg or sms only mms......still want help on this guys....i been away for a while an now i am back im still using same phone!!

Voicemail wav location?

Hello all.. I was just wondering if anyone knows where the voicemail wav file is located on the tilt. I wanted to replace it with a prerecorded wav file. I'm guessing the voicemail would be a wav file or am I wrong? I'm not sure if I can even access it but I don't see why not. Thanks for any suggestions.
what exactly are you trying to do? if you are talking about the message others hear it is not on the phone itself. your phone has a separate voice mail number to dial then you set up voice mail on carriers server.
i have a previous voicemail message saved that I wanted to use to replace the default ones that At&t has. So instead of people hearing This is ###-#### leave a message... Can I replace that with a wav file that I recorded already... I didn't want to re record it since It takes me forever to get the "perfect" message I like =\

yeah I forgot about that... so basically theres no way to replace the message since they have it on there server.
when you set up vm listen really close to all of the options. it will ask if you would like to use the prerecorded one or record you own. record your own
try this

You can try using Youmail it lets you select your own voicemail or select from thier list

Application is not installed on your phone. Voicemail.

I'm unable to access the voicemail program and it makes me dial out to get my voice mails. I moved some files over to a bloatware folder from the system\apps folder but I moved them all back and it still doesnt work =\ can someone help me?
Anyone?

[Q] How do i get this ONE notification mp3 to register?!?!?!

I have 2 folders on my MicroSD card, one is labeled "ringtones" and the other is labeled "notifications".
I cut and pasted a 0:02 second notification tone from the ringtones folder to the notifications folder.
Now when I try to change the notification tone for SMS and WhatsApp, it wont detect that 0:02 second notification tone. Under system settings --> sound --> notification sound it doesn't detect it either!!
What am i doing wrong? I placed it in the correct folder. It is mp3 file just like the other notification files. There seems to be no logic in this. It just chooses not to show up.
Help?
Googling my problem before making this topic doesn't help. Nobody seems to have had this problem on any Android phone before.
I tried restarting my phone, didn't work.
*update* - I redownload the notification sound, renamed it, and put it in the notifications folder. NOW both files show up on my phone and I can change it to that notification tone FINALLY. This is truly bizarre. If anyone can explain what happened go ahead.
i too am encountering this issue as well, where after adding the .mp3 in these folders it hasnt showed up in the list.
i think this is due to 'media scan', as it hasnt triggered to rescan the library.
and apparently after shut down or reboot it still doesnt help.
anyone know how to 'force' re-scan of the media library?

"Protected file. Cannot send." on sms menu

Hi, so I tried to send an MMS once and it was sent, but the person did not receive it (i don't know why. crappy phone, lack of settings). Now every time I would try to text someone, that picture would pop up and I would have to remove it.
Afterwards I just deleted the picture from my phone and I started getting "Protected file, cannot send." instead of the image. I put the photo back with the same name in the same place and I still get this error.
Does anyone know what I can do to stop this? It's annoying, I always have to wait a few seconds for the message to go away so that I may use my keyboard.
Thanks.
Really weird, something unexplainable.
