I lost mine nearly 6 months ago. It would be nice to have a replacement.
Ditto that...
My piece has been wearing down slowly because the phone is kept in my pocket.
I wonder if we can order spares from HTC?
I feel I'll be be needing spares soon, to. My joystick has a crack down the middle, think it might end up falling off soon!
Mine fell off a while back as well. Was considering just putting a dollop of caulking or glue a shaped peice of rubber in place.
The service manual says that this is one of the items that must be replaced when the unit is opened, and even shows a picture of a sheet of them. So they have them for replacement, it just a question of how much they will charge for them. Anyone call HTC yet?
Mine fell off after playing video games...
I was able to glue mine back on, but I have definately stopped using the joystick until I could find some replacements, anyone created a workable solution yet? or passed along to HTC that we LOVE the joystick and they need to add it back to the 7510+ versions? And to add it back in such a manner that it won't fall off or where out? e.g. rather than being only skin deep it could be a rubber core that goes down the center of the shaft (or something like that)?
Thanks,
Bob

The top part of the slider (the screen) on my kaiser sits just a little too far to the right when in the closed position. When I'm holding it and talking on it, my finger feels the slight ledge and it's kind of annoying. Has anyone found a good way to adjust the closed position of the kaiser?
Anybody? I'll eventually dig into it myself, but it would be nice to know if someone else has already done it so I can skip the experimenting and take apart only what needs to be taken apart.
As i know the two tiny rubber stop the screen going further. You can glue something to the rubber to adjust the position. Check the photo attached. I can't think of anything except that can help.

Ah I see...
Thank you for the pictures. That helps. One of the rubber bumpers on mine is somewhat malformed. I may end up disassembling this thing and making some sort of replacement.
I just noticed mine was doing this too, so I returned it today. Lol the next one I got had a very very very tight usb fit. it felt like it was going to rip the usb port out every time I would pull my usb plug off. So I went to return that one! They had only one more left which was the display model, lol. Of course I didn't take that.
So what they did is ordered 3 more to be shipped in this Monday and they are going to let me go over each one and decide which is the best for me to take home!
Just thought I'd update this thread with my story.
I tried to do a warranty exchange with AT&T when I found out that the warranty follows the Tilt, rather than being linked to the person that bought it (I bought mine off of craigslist) but they wouldn't do it. They said for something physical like that it had to be within the first 30 days of when it was first used on their system.
So I decided to fix it myself. I measured the amount of overhang at each end near the slide track using calipers, then looked around for something of the right thickness to add to the rubber bumpers discussed above. I settled on a piece of black, vinyl heat-shrink tubing used for electrical conections. 2 layers of it were enough to correct the overhang at one end and 3 layers at the other. I cut the pieces out making squares about .050" (a little over a millimeter) per side and glued the layers together. I used an exacto knife to cut them and trim after glueing. This was a tiny bit over-sized and they stuck into the tracks so well that I didn't bother glueing them into the phone.
My phone feels so much better in my hand now it's amazing. Before, that little difference made my phone feel super cheap and it was really annoying. Now it feels rigid and well made. =)
atleast you got it fixed. My first tilt was in my back pocket and i sat down on it and had the same thing.. so i gave it to my dad and got another one He hasn't noticed.. (actually i bought him a new one on ebay while he was visiting but it didnt arrive in time so i gave him the one i was using at the time, and about 30 min after i got home after dropping him off at the airport, guess who decides to knock on my door? the UPS guy with the new tilt )
Was at a football game last Sunday & dropped my phone on the ground. It must of fell out of my lap when I jumped up to cheer. Now that hurts! I've been babying it too. Oh well, it was bound to happened sooner or later.
Now my Tilt has scratches on the left & right bottom corners. I was thinking about taking a fine grade of sandpaper & sanding it down. Has anyone tried smoothing out a ding on there phone before. If so, what did you use?
I just recently found a small nick on the top corner of my Tilt. I'm assuming I got it the same day I dropped it. That means my phone must of cart wheeled before falling on its back! *OUCH, That hurts literally!*

Thanks for the link! It's good to know that they sell the OEM casing. It's not cheap though.
I dropped mine for the first time on Saturday night. I almost cried, haha. I have one ding on the bottom corner, towards the back, by the stylus.
I've been doing really well, considering that I usually drop a new device a day or two after getting it.
Last week, however, I was showing off the camera album feature to my sister-in-law and she just had to have a go herself.
Cue my lovely Vario III hitting the ground a second later.
No damage at all though, so I've forgiven her!

That's when it's time to call AT&T......

How funny that's where mine got scuffed up too, right next to the stylus. I was hoping the stylus was the one that substained the damage so I can chage it out. Mine also got scuffed up on the bottom left hand side. It bounced around first before laying on the ground. For the weight and size of this phone I was expecting more damage from the fall.
I guess the more your carefull not to drop the phone the more prone it is to happened.

I dropped mine couple of weeks ago... I was doing a research paper for my university, and papers were all over the place... and sadly my TyTN II was between two papers... so when I pulled one of them... the device flew in the air and landed on the floor... fortunately there was a thick carpet on the floor... thus no harm is done... but during the next five min while I was checking if my phone is still working... I was so pale and scared :s
Man! I hope this does not happen to any of you guys...
Cheers
dropped mine after 2 weeks of having it - i was jogging to the bus at the time - fumbled it out of my belt ouch and dropped it - i accidentally stamped on it at the same time, on rough knobly tarmac, face-down - i skidded a bit on it too, sort of like a sktebaord - i was like 'omgomgomg' picked it up and by some sort of miricle the screen was untouched - fascia is a bit knacked but it all works just fine, only thing is the tilt mechanism is a bit loose now though its still sturdy (ie i can push the top right side and the screen bit will angle slightly against the body, but only by a few millimetres)

This will cover any damage to the case and protect it.
I was running into work in a heavy rain carrying a large laptop bag, so I was running fairly spastic, and my Tilt popped out of the case, slid face down on the sidewalk into a puddle. The battery popped out, as well as the stylus. I grabbed all I could find (had to go back later to find the stylus) and shook it out. Then I used a heat gun to gently warm the unit up. after 2 hours, I put the battery back in and it powered up fine, except the touchscreen was dead.
I then left it on my desk on charge with bluetooth, 3g,Wlan and screen full bright on, to generate as much internal heat as possible. After another 2 hours, the touch screen would randomly activate items on the today screen, every minute or so. After watching that for an hour with no real response from the touchscreen yet, I power cycled the phone, and to my surprise, the touch screen worked. Been working ever since.
Luckily the battery poped out otherwise I would think the device would have got fried?
Well, as idiotic as it may sound, I did put the battery back in and power up the phone while it was wet. It seemed to boot up just fine, but I pulled the battery after 15 seconds as to not push my luck.
My Drop . . .
I was running up stairs in my office building (concrete with metal stairstep edging), when something (my Tilt OMG!) suddenly clattered onto the stairs - apparently I had not made sure the magnetic flap on my case was firmly connected - it popped open and the SIM card holder popped out - I fearfully picked it up and inspected - can't find a scratch on it! and it works fine, and nothing seems loose! I'm shocked, surprised and pleased, but will be more careful in the future, obviously (in almost 2 years with my Wizard, I never once dropped it!).
Try to burnish the scuffed areas with a smooth piece of plastic. Start slow and it might kind of fill in by smoothing the rough edges. Kind of like a good paint job on an auto, get it flat as possible and it will shine like a diamond in a goats A*s.
Dropped my 8525 a couple of times and fixed it as mentioned above. Dropped my tilt the first day and it missed the concrete by a fraction of an inch and landed on carpet. Lucky for me only the back flew off and my great little toy is unmared so far.
The older I get the less my hands seem to be actually connected to my body and under my control...
Did I mention I love my tilt and this site?

What kind of plastic are you using?
I tried using some Brasso Metal Polish, but it didn't do anything for it. The Brasso would work on scratches, but I have chunks missing from the plastic on my Tilt & dings. I'm willing to try anything as long as I don't harm my baby! I already feel like she's been abused! LOL!

Does AT&T do exchanges on accidental drops. What about if its passed the 30day window from the say you pruchased it?
Just to know if this issue is common over the TD2 comunity!!!
I voted and I do. It is not just by the volume bar but all over the screen. It moves to different places during the day. Indoors and at night it is not noticable when the screen is on but during the day and when the screen is off I can see it. Hopefully it is an issue that is fixed and HTC will replace our units mebe.
I had a TD2 for about 2 weeks when I noticed dust entering beneath the screen near the volume keys. I returned it for an exchange and have had a second TD2 for a week and this one is doing exactly the same....seems to much of a coincidence to be an isolated case....I suspect there is a design flaw.
Im now arranging to return this device, going to choose something different....shame though cos I thought the TD2 was such an improvement over the original TD!
Looks like is better to wait for TP2, ha?
What about blowing off the dust with compressed air can? Did anybody try it?
later
To blow it off you have to dismantle your TD2 from backside. There is no service manual (dismantling guide) yet. I sent my TD2 to the service, they blowed the dust off, but the dust is coming in again. I think there is a sealing problem...
So, lets get antistatic gloves, screw driver, plastic crowbar and...
It may be interesting to see if there's a correlation with where the device is constructed. Mine is made in taiwan and has no dust.

Mine is also taiwan. But WITH dust..
I also encountered this problem.. i just got this phone 2 days ago.. Though not really a lot of dust.. but it is still visible beneath the screen, near volume keys.. ARGH!! Mine is also from taiwan..
ME TOO
I have my second unit now and both has the dust problem!
this is sooo sad,
I already called htc support center and I am waiting on an answer.
No dust here.
no dust after month!
no dust here either. Any idea from which side it should get under ur screen? and might It have anything to do with the way ur handling ur phones? (not pointing fingers here, just curious)
Dust here after four weeks.
It wont let me vote for some reason either in the poll. Mine is not in a dusty environment and lives in a canvas cover so no idea how its got in!
Yes Dust after one week of use...
R.
Also dust after 1 week already, have it now almost a month.
No dust anywhere maybe, because I'm using a pouch bag
dust free after 1 week. i always put in my leather case.
I just noticed this evening that I have a little bulge under my SIM slot. The rubber protrudes about 1mm, and is about 1/4" long. It happens to be exactly above where my ring finger rests when I hold my phone, as if my finger (over the past 6 days) has forced the separation. It's nothing a bumper or case won't fix -- but I don't have a bumper or a case.
Hopefully it's an isolated case **He naively says starting at the screen lift on his Nexus 7**

Looks like the rubber band warping. Not sim slot.
I ordered a nexus 4 and all I got was bo.
Yeah, that looks like a clear defect. I'd definitely have Google replace it.
I've had mine for over a week. It doesn't have that issue. Thank God.
That's a definite defect. Get a replacement ASAP.

Hi
Might just be clip on the back cover that hasn't engaged. Can you clip it back in by squeezing the back at that point against the front?

Nah, it's surprisingly stubborn. I've put quite a bit of pressure trying to "pop" it back into place to no avail. I really do hope this isn't a mass problem. I'm going to do an RMA (also have the rattle & hiss). The next one I'll have a case from Day 1.

The rattle is just the plastic lens in the camera related to auto focus, a lot of phones have the same rattle, search for "camera rattle". Hiss is caused by the DC-DC power converters in the phone, it's a known issue with low power equipment such as mobile phones, just do a search for the terms "dc dc converter audible noise". These are not faults, just side effects of the technology that most people will ignore or not notice.
Such is the variable nature of these components you may get another phone that appears better or just the same or even worse, but very likely the rattle will always be there as that is just how the cameras are at rest with nothing powering the magnetic servo of the lens.
Obviously the bulge in the side of the case shouldn't be there, certainly a reason to get it replaced.
Regards
Phil
OP - I finally received my phone yesterday and noticed that I too have the same little bulge. Mine is on the opposite side of the phone. It does look like it's just a clip that didn't engage. However, like you, I tried to push it in to no avail. Since there is nothing else wrong with my phone at all I am holding off on sending it in for an RMA because I'd be afraid to get a phone with worse defects. This one is so minimal that I can live with it. Especially since I REALLY have to look for it to see it.
With that said, I'm contemplating just removing the backing, which I have read is super easy (just remove the two screws at the bottom and the sim tray and it pops off). I was thinking about doing this to inspect that little section to see if something is just protruding a tiny bit that can be easily corrected. I'm going to wait until I see others have successfully removed the backing before attempting it myself.
Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
UPDATE: I called Play Support and told the rep about the issue. He said I'm not the first person to have the small bulge and recommended an RMA since it's considered a defect so I went that route.
I returned a Nexus 7 that had the same problem. There was no screen lift, so I hesitated, but after taking the back off and seeing that internal components were pressing the bezel outwards (and the screen had been attached onto the already-bent bezel, leaving the bulgey spot without any adhesive to speak of even if I could get the bezel straight) I decided I didn't want to wait for dust to start creeping in and took it back. Glad I did, my replacement was perfect. Hope you get the same result with a new N4 (whenever they get around to having a new one for you :| ).
Damn I have the buldge to Don't know if i'm just noticing or if it's been there all along. I've decided i can live with the tiny amount of hiss in the ear piece and the camera rattle (which i've been told and believe is normal and not a defect). Can't decide if this is something that'll worsen over time or just live with this in fear of getting a device with worse issues. DOH

Don't fret. I called Google about this issue since I have it too. The rep told me he had a few reports of this and recommended an RMA for it. It won't get worse but if it does bother you just call and have them send you a new one. The process is really easy. I've done this in the past with other Nexus devices as well. They send you a new one within 3-5 business days and put an auth charge on your card for the full price of the phone. Then, when you get the new phone you put the old one in the box and send it back to them. When they receive the phone they remove the auth hold. This way you are never left without a phone.
Anyone opened theirs up?

I have the Tab S6 including official keyboard cover since october, while I also ordered a screenprotector back then it never arrived and I've been using it without in the meantime... I kinda forgot about it, but noticed I have quite a few scratches on my screen now. Most being where the keys at the folding part touch the screen.
The tablet is coming with me to and from work in the bag, otherwise just used at home. Do other ppl have experienced something similar? I''m afraid they gonna blame it on sand (perhaps rightfully so) but it does suck.
I now received my newly ordered screenprotector (plastic and glass) where I put the plastic on for now, not sure what I want to do with the screen in the meantime. Which leads me to, how the hell do you get rid of all the dust. I applied it in the bathroom now, after running the hot shower for a while. Cleaning it with the supplied materials, but still specs of dust...Any tips>?!

I've had the keyboard cover on since release with no screen protector. I also keep it in a laptop sleeve area of my backpack when traveling to/from work. I just took a close look and can't see any scratches. You are probably right to suspect some sand or something got trapped between the keyboard and screen.
Thanks for the response, yeah... guess that's it indeed. Teaches me for slacking and not putting a protector on it I guess
Put the glass one on anyways and it actually hides the scratches it seems so all is ok for now.
