Well I did a quick search on the forums to see if this had been touched on, and to my suprise it hasn't. Hopefully I can give something back to the community through sharing my info.
ORB
Download it to your PC and run it, it is very simple. After it sets up, visit orb.com on your Kaiser and you'll be able to browse the files on your computer, streaming audio, video, and even youtube through them. It works flawlessly.
Right now I'm watching Bleach 159 streaming from my laptop to my Kaiser over 3g. no lag, no choppiness, great playback. Audio is synced perfectly, and there was no setting up to do on my Kaiser.
I'm sure this will work on many if not all the devices on this forum. Tell me what you think.
Anybody trying it? What do you think of it?
You did a search and didn't find anything? You did search THESE forums and not Jerry Springer forums, right?
ORB is old news, I am surprised you didn't see all of THESE results:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...e:http://forum.xda-developers.com&btnG=Search
I searched in the Kaiser forums, didn't search the whole website.
You don't ned to burn someone for trying to help.
Anyways I've ben using orb since the day it came out, and got to say it is awesome.
Just make sure you have a god connection and god upload at your house.

i have been using orb for my ps3 and computers at work. i used on my phone only a few times but it worked.
orb its quite useful and free.
Okay, I'm just wondering if there is a setting somewhere that I'm not aware of and hopefully someone could point it out. When I am at home and the phone is connected to my home Network ( WiFi ) Pocket Internet Explorer works just fine. Now turn off WiFi, reverting back to 3G, and Pocket Internet Explorer doesn't function. Just loads blank pages continually. The reason for me thinking it's a setting somewhere is because I also have Opera, which works fine on both WiFi and 3G. So while PIE is oblivious to the World around it, Opera's singing along. LOL! Honestly I wouldn't really even care except I have the mod installed that allows PIE to transfer live video streams to TCPMP thus making YouTube and such work rather well on the device. If that worked in Opera, PIE would never be used on my device. Hehe... So, anyway there's my problem. I eagerly await ideas. Thanks!
No one huh?
Geesh, I hate when I find a problem the technical like crowd can't even answer. :\ That leaves ya with... Technical Support from the... MAN... And we ALL know just how extremely useful / helpful those folks are.
Keep in mind that some people don't LIVE on this forum.. (i do though..) and the members of this forum are from all across the world, so people are on at different times.
Your posts are 13min. apart. If everyone could get their solution within 15min i think people that help out on this site should be paid! but thats not the case...
now to solve your problem; Are you on AT&T? if so i'd recommend finding the disablehiddenproxy.cab and installing that. I had the same probelm and after disabling the proxy everything was back to normal.
if i remember the manual correctly, for wifi you want proxy's off...
for MediaNet you want the proxy on

Firstly, thank you. I will try that.
Secondly, please check the dates of my posts. I realize that people do not live here. And all help is appreciated. I waited 24hrs.. And, by the way, I don't get to live here either. It is sheer coincidence that I happened to check back pretty much 24hrs. later on the button. LOL! Well, pretty close for not really even paying attention to that anyway.
Thirdly...
And thirdly, that is precisely why we all love ya! Disabling the proxy corrected the issue. I think that my phone actually came with that active, I don't recall PIE ever working over 3G... Until now that is. I figured it was simple since, as I said, I have Opera on the device also and it didn't care. It worked no matter how the device was connected to the 'net. Anyway, thanks much!
Does anyone have this running on a tilt?
http://www.qik.com/
it's a live streaming web video that uses your phones camera.
Mine gets stuck on launch with "initializing camera". Other people on the qik site with a tilt have the same issue.
Wondering if anyone is running it here or knows how to fix that problem.
there is a cab to enable att video calling, i assume that since att doesnt support video calling that is the problem. search for the cab, youll find it, also try installing att disable hidden proxy cab. hope that helps
cab
can someone post the cab file for tilt here? sms method didn't work for me

no its not! it is for video streaming!
I had forgotten about Qik.
I signed up a while ago, only to discover that our phone wasn't supported!
I've just resurrected my account and downloaded the program and tested it.
It seems to work really well.
tried that cab. it wanted to upgrade to newer version. and still had "camera initializing.."
Maybe because I'm running a cooked rom?

actually no
it's just using a camera source. nothing to do with the HTC front camera and tilt missing it. lots of people have qik running on the tilt. I do not yet.
just trying to help

No it is not. Video calling as a native feature of 3G networks, and it's thus handled by the 3G protocol stack. The Tilt having no front cam and not being meant to use video calling, that function was disabled. It can be enabled and the back cam used instead though.
But that has no effect on any other program wanting to open a video device (either back or front one) and do whatever it wants with it like encoding and streaming its feed over the internet.
Try researching a bit before shouting at innocent people...
Re the program, looks good, I might have a try
whos yelling
I use Livecast w/o any problems.
well, i just put it on my tilt and it works fine just that i get a long delay on the live video.
Works "fine" on my tilt... 10-15 second delay though :-(

I've used Livecast as well but Qik seems to be much better.
I used Livecast at a football (soccer) game that I went to one time.
On my club's forum, people who can't make the game 'cos they're working or they're ex-pats log in and follow/discuss the game online, creating a "match thread".
I posted a link to my Livecast page and gave them snippets of the game.
At one point, my team got a penalty kick, so I was able to quickly start Livecast and let them see the goal (almost) live.
Watching it later the picture was absolutely lamentable though, Qik definitely seems to be a step up from that.
Qik support
hey Guys, thanks for trying the Qik and for the feedback. Actually I'm from Qik team and I want you getting involved in the process of development. I know there are some problems with Kaiser devices. I really want you to provide some debug builds with extended logging to figure out the problem.
If you have any ideas about Qik, things to improve, feature requests please left posts on this thread or contact me directly vovk <[at]> qik.com
Just something that may or may not be relevant to the people who are getting "initializing camera".
I hadn't had this problem but recently I tried to stream some video, realising too late that I was in a bit of a dead spot where I could only get GPRS, not 3G or HSDPA.
I immediately got the "initializing camera" message and it stayed like that until I did a soft reset.
It might (note 'might') be worth checking that you've got a decent 3G signal before opening qik.

Alright, ignore the above.
I'm just sitting here, I had a big ol' HSDPA signal and I thought that I'd try qik...............................
"Initializing camera".
Looks as if signal strength isn't necessarily the deciding factor then.
I'll soft reset, I bet it works then.
Edited to say: Yeah, worked fine again after the soft reset.
Hey, this is my 100th post!
I really wish that the quality of the video could be better. I realize that this is probably a problem more with the Tilt and its crappy video/camera drivers than it is with Qik.
This is something I'm really interested in though, I would like to see what some other phones look like but the qik website doesn't seem to tell you which phone recorded what.
I did an advanced search on google for the whole forum and didn't find this posted anywhere. I stumbled upon it by accident. If its already been posted, please delete it and don't flame me.
Does this work?

It works sweet on my At&t Fuze! Thanks!
Errors out on my Fuze.
yeah i want to know if it works on the fuze and if it works over wifi because i dont have a data plan. Thanks
thanks, just in time for playoffs!
works on my Fuze on 3G fine
Hmm, what am I doing wrong for me to have it error out on me like that? Installs fine but unable to launch it. Using ROMeOS's latest.
It may just be software issues on my end.
EDIT: Works now, I actually stopped and read the error (duh), It didn't see my data connection so I turned on Wifi. I may have to tinker in the connection settings to see my data connection.
BTW thnx OP for the cab.
how is the speed on TP? I recently upgraded from an apache and the NFL app was slow as sh*t
i cant install it because of an error in the setup file?? any suggestions?

Pretty slow for me on the fuze.
I got the error too initially. Do a soft reset. It worked for me.
I got it to install just fine and i can read all the links and stories but i can not see any video. with that being said..... NOW i am using this on an EPIX (dont see and good threads anywhere sorry) most all .cab's work like the should (ppc wm6.1 and so on)but the software tells me that i dont have a device that can stream video??? any ideas? could this be because sprint has nothing like this device and the FUZE is on their network???? any feed back would be nice.
Sorry guys, I don't really have any answers...Bit I am using Hibby's 1.7 ROM from ppgeeks. I don't plan on using this all that much, but as far as I can see, the app works 100% on my phone. Yes, a little slow, but it works.
I have the ATT Fuze.....works Great Thank You!
works amazing! thanks! anyway to get the video to play fullscreen though?
Installed with no issues and runs with no issues. But like some others, it does seem to run pretty slow.
It works on my Tilt, but I can't watch any video. I'll be getting my Fuze this weekend and will try it on there
i've been all over this site as well as others trying to find a fairly simple way to root my T-Mobile G1, non-dev phone running Cupcake 1.6. It looks like the 1-Click Rooting will work but first, before i do anything, i wanted to see if this procedure was still working.
Is it?
When i d/l Cyanogen's Mod i noticed that it d/l the update-cm-4.2.5-signed.zip version as well as the 4.2.7.1. Which one should i use?
It looks like the Radio is the same, so that would be one less step to perform, correct?
i'm attaching a .txt file which i've made so that things/steps are a little clearer for me to follow.
Any help would be appreciated. Have a great morning!
I am a total newb on the scene but from what I understand you can still do the one click root as long as you revert back to cupcake (RC7 for europe, RC29 for US? You will need to check). You can't do it on Donut (Which is 1.6 is it not?).
I might be way off, so hopefully someone more experienced can help you.
As far as the rest is concerned, I have no idea, sorry.
Sigh. i think you're correct -- i already have the 1.6 - Donut. Grrr.
Now i gotta figure out how to get back down to 1.5.
Thanks, zamtetsuken, that was a great help. Maybe i should just stick to the "If it's not broke, don't fix it." routine.
What advantages have you seen with your change to root?
Have a great afternoon!
You're most welcome.
I have been reading (and watching videos) from this website: http://theunlockr.com/category/howto/android_how_tos/htc-g1-dream/ today and they have videos that show you how to get back to cupcake, the 1-click root for the G1 and other good stuff.
I haven't actually done it yet, I am trying to do a lot of reading before I do try it, just so I don't mess things up. I know which rom I want to use but some methods require to have a SDCard reader when you're flashing the radio, rom etc, so I need to see if there is a work around as I do not have one. All I hear is good stuff about rooting though, apart from obviously those who brick their phone.
If you do it please let me know how you got on .
If you're running 1.6, part of one of the threads says that you can format your SDcard with your telephone! You don't need a card-reader. i don't have one either and am running PCLinuxOS 2009, fully updated on my home computer.
Have a great afternoon! and thanks for the link to the videos!

Yeah, I knew about the format option in 1.6 but in one of those videos once he reverts to cupcake (I believe) he takes out the SD Card while the phone is off and then puts the files on the card and then puts it back into the phone and switches it on. I will have to find out whether I can do it differently,
Thanks for the reply , you going to try it?

lol -- i'm working on it.
Am still trying to find an answer to a couple of questions, like will we have access to Market again? Whether i can set Google up with the kind of buy-as-you-go minutes that i have in Mexico through TelCel and wondering how i'm going to obtain all those WEP keys i've got on my present phone again.
Have a great evening!

I have successfully rooted my phone .
You do get access to Market again. It just seems to work exactly as before . I am not sure how you would get the WEP keys again .
Hey! Congratulations!!! Wow! i'm stuck on the "Set up Gmail." Since i don't have a 3G Plan i'm in the process of getting past STEP1, Sub-section 6 -- lol.
i'm going to call a friend - my son-in-law - and get him to read off the APN settings on his G1. i set it up for him and i think we use the same carrier, TelCel. i need the MCC and MNC settings - i think, in order to get WiFi on this. Then i can set up Google and proceed.
i also had some strange things happen even in Sub-section 4! But it's fixed, so we're still hangin' in there.
Thanks for posting again, Congrats!, and have a wonderful evening!
