Does Sprite Backup, backup your contacts? I'm not sure of your contacts are stored in the WM6 File system or not anyway. If Sprite Backup doesnt backup your contacts can anyone recommend a way of doing this as I have to many to store on the SIM card so i store them in the phone.
(I did search the forum for this but nothing of use came up)
Here is an easier method with no applications needed.
go to my device and copy the pim file using file explorer and when you do need to get your contacts back, simply copy the pim file back under my device.
If I flash my kaiser rom with a newer one will I lose my contacts, and just need to copy this file back or do my contacts remain untouched?
your contacts will remain the way it was when you copy it.
HUH? So i do need to back them up before I flash the rom or not?

Here is also a good idea. If you have Windows Outlook just sync your phone with that and it will place all of your contacts in outlook. That way when you flash to a ROM of your choice you will always have your contacts saved. That's what I do.

copy pim to storage card and paste it back to my device with your new rom flash.
yes, sprite does back-up your contacts if you specify in it's setting.
but for backing up just the contacts (as my fail-safe plan), i have always used a tiny app called PPCBackupContacts v1.6 authored by the great dotfred which can be found in this forum. it had always worked perfectly 100% each time. you can even select delete all contacts from it and restore the whole database again whenever you please to avoid duplicate contacts when restoring.
i hope this works for you too.

to avoid the shared file error. how do u paste back the copy of the pim file? Pim is locked whenever the phone is on and I can't delete it
I like PIM Backup as well. I use it not only to backup my contacts, but also my call history, ringtones, alarms, and various other custom files and folders. That way, when I flash a new ROM or do a hard reset, I just install my software and then use PIM Backup to restore all my customizations. It's great! And it'll do scheduled backups, so I get a nightly backup without even thinking about it.

Please use the backup you created for times like this.
hi,
if you don't have a backup of your contacts, i think that nothing you can do. PPCPimBackup is a good tool for backup your phone.
also untick contacts from Activesync on your phone & pc so it won't happen again
So I made a backup using go backup before wiping data because I had a reboot to bootanim loop problem. Even when powered off the device would power on and enter the damn loop if i plugged usb cable. Didn't have the time or patience to search for solutions so I decided to wipe and reinstall my ROM. After everything was ok I reinstalled Go Backup but it's not seeing my old backup so it's useless. I tried creating new backups and moving old files to it thinking that the app would restore everything but it just restores what has just been backuped. I tried to look in the files to see if I could edit something so it would recognize all files or old backups to no avail.
Is there a way or an app that would restore files from any folder that has both apk's and their application data counterparts?
I know I could click apk's one by one to reinstall but it's quite a long and boring process and I would be restoring my apps data at the same time.
Thanks in advance for your time and help.
Have a nice day/evening!
Same problem I'm having.
Having issues with using PC Companion 2.1 and backed phone data before preforming a full OS reload.
Phone restored back to OS original but when I try to run a restore, I can't view or see anything from the backup file.
File is a .dbk and I can use PC Companion to view the contents, but where's my SMS text messages stored??
I did select everything for backup so should be present somewhere as the file is total 14.5GB
Any idea

Same here... i lost all my contacts, calendars etc....... I assumed PC Companion backup would have them backed up since all the boxes are checked... but no........ now I've paid the consequences of trusting it...

We'll that blows!
Sony...what's the point of using a backup application that doesn't work????
Anybody else have any recommendations on other applications that do work? Not going to use PC Companion for any backups from now on
Well I have something back.
Snooped around the net and located a great product called MyPhoneExplorer and installed this to see what I could find. Nothing.
But then when I preformed the restore, it managed to restore the SMS and contacts for me Not too bothered with regards the apps but the important contacts and messages are now back.
Not sure what MyPhoneExplorer did but has done something good

Hi,
Yes I know its backed up in Gdrive. Is there a way to extract the data?
Uninstall whattsapp and reninstall it and choose restore my backup? Usually works for me. But i don't have that big of a restore file
