Problems with video files - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I am having problems playing video files with my Tilt.
In explorer, I can not "click" on a .mpg file that I downloaded from the net and have it play. (They play fine when transfered to a PC) It says that I need to open from within an application. Okay....how do you open a particular file from within Windows Media? This is probably a silly question for most of you....but it is fustrating to me!
P.S. To whoever suggested charging a dollar for those who start a thread, that has been repeated....where do I send the money? It would be well worth it to me....simply NOT to feel so guilty when I ask what is likely to be such a "stupid" question to most. If I paying the price....I won't feel guilty at all!!!

Maybe you have lost the file associations

File association?
Is there a way of checking to see if I have lost the "file association" somehow, without downloading something that I don't understand?
Following the thread the comment was made:
(I don't know how to a quote so I copied the text)
"Note that it contains a lot of additional HKCR entries. I tried very hard to delete all the non multimedia-related keys but there still are. Therefore, you'll want to clean up the file before deploying and ONLY leave associations that are definitely set by TCPMP."
I have no idea what either "HKCR" or "TCPMP", so therefore I'm relunctant to blunder ahead.

Actually I'm so used to using "Coreplayer" that thinking about it again, I don't think there's any point in associating MPGs with WMplayer 'cos I don't think it can play them anyway (does play AVI, Mpeg-4, WMV ). Sorry to mislead you. Maybe you should consider Coreplayer:
http://www.mobihand.com/product.asp?id=8905
JJ

or the free version of coreplayer
http://pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1080
but coreplayer have been reported to work better with the qualcomm cpu
because wmp as said is somewhat limited in what codecs it support
ms like to push their own formats

Siris Radio Won't Work

I can log in but can't play sound,I have an account w/siris any helep please.
TRY posting in only one place people will be more happy to help you! Also this has nothing to do with Kaiser upgrading so I'm sure posting it over there was a mistake right? Does sirus have a mobile client that runs on WM6? that would probably be a good place to start

Are you using THIS PROGRAM or just the normal website?
Either way, you way want to try adding these WMP 9 Codex files to your \Windows directory. (It says something about reloading TCPMP .. but if you didn't have it don't worry about it).
*for either of the links above, I believe you have to be a registered user .. but it's free (and no, i have no affiliation to the site or program)

ATT Tilt Basic Software

I cant find a copy of MobiTV, the ATT version of Cellular video or the ATT Xm radio app. Now I have searched an come up with only things that have not worked on my machine. They are older apps, from 8525 and Cingular.
I made a thread about this in upgrades but some smarmy mod popped out links and basically called me a moron for not searching. Well guess what none of that **** you linked me to worked. All of it was very old as well.
Im hoping someone will be able to pull the .cab installs of of the actual NEW ATT Tilt rom. I was able to find the newest xpress mail on my own. I also found the 8925 NEW version of Telenav.
guess im not as dumb as those mods think, since my .cabs are up to date ABD THEY WORK on your new device.
btw the new search is HORRIBLE i cant just search the Kaiser area when i want.
the search tab
+1 for the new search tab not being easy to use.
Don't know if this will help..I had to put the files from the OperatorPKG into a ZIP file...
It contains.
MobiTV Application
MobiTV shortcut
MobiTV chunk file - whatever this is???
Hope this helps
You do not need the cellular video cab...it only has the URL of cingularvideo.cingular.com and a realplayer install in it... DO you have streaming media or realplayer installed on your phone???
To get CellularVideo to work properly...
1st.... open IE and go to cingularvideo.cingular.com
2nd... Try and click on the link....
(a) if link opens up in either realplayer or streaming media your done
(b) if link opens up realplayer or streaming media but it will not connect
you need to do the following....
(i) use a file explorer on your phone that will show hidden files
(ii) open up realplayer from the .exe file in the file explorer. It
should open up just the player.
(iii) when the player opens, you need to click on options and make
sure the connect option is going through MEdiaNet
(iiii) after doing this, save and close the realplayer.
(iiiii) go back to cingluarvideo.cingular.com and try again it
will work.
3rd.... If you have not already, make sure you restoreProxy
4th... If the above directions do not work I have attached the CellularVideo
cab file which was found by searching google.
thanks guys
this new ****ing garbage search wont even let you decide if u wanna search by date or by relevance...choose a forum
y would they do something so much worse?
I'll bite since you obviously made an effort. Otherwise you would have gotton a generic response to go to the ATT forums. ;-) (Kind of a revote against newbs lately.)
The cabs are hard to find. The download I put here is NOT the cabs. They're just ripped from the ROM.
Drop the files in your Program Files directory and delete the vars.chunk files to restore the trial period.
the first mobitv installl in this thread didnt work for me.... thanks for this one... i still need cellular tv, that custel file wont work with mobile 6.1 on the 8925

The cabs are hard to find. I just ripped the stuff from \program files. It's all you need really. This is from the Windows 6.1 ATT ROM, so I know they aren't old.
NOTE: delete the vars.chunk file for these otherwise the trial will be expired when you try to launch.

your stuff ACTUALLY WORKED! very cool
The site admin is working dilligently to offer as many useful search options as humanly possible.
Ironically when the original search was the only choice everyone complained that it was crap, now with it replaced by google al o the sudden it was "the bee's knees".
Shortly Admin should have both Google & vBulletin (original) in the search dropdown. Eventually they might even be able to add functionality to the google option but give them time guys. It's not like you flip a switch and get a 3rd party search integrated exactly as you want.

yes you are as dumb as the mods think. you just had to start another thread on this. if you had actually read through the link i gave you, you would have known that ppl are using it on the kaiser eventhough it is from the hermes forum. as for being an older version, the mobitv is newer than the one thats being shipped on the new at&t rom, i know, because i actually checked.

You can always ask a friend or co-worker for their account info. Also, if you know someone who has an XM Radio, but doesn't have/use the online account, you can get or ask them for their radio ID and sign up for the account online yourself.
XM Radio accounts can be used by multiple people/computers at one time, whereas Sirius accounts cannot.

haha, ok, fair enough.....let me rephrase my statement then, that cause u KNOW someone with an xm account.
good info though
ok, first of all if i get flamed or banned for this your a biatch, second of all i downloaded the streaming.CAB for my tilt yesterday, but when I want to connect it goes to a address input bar that starts with a rtsp://....
The question is do you have to subscribe to a media stream for this to work

Someone Please Help me!!

I was wondering if someone could please help me as I am a complete noob at this. I recently purchased the Tilt (Kaiser) and I love it. My question is what is the best emulator for SNES to run on the tilt and can anyone give me a step by step instruction on how to put it on my phone. I was also curious as to how to put Shadow Of Legend on as well (cant seem to do it). I have plenty of space as I have a 4gb sdhc card. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you in adavance.
Nick
There are quite a few emulators around. Some people like one and some people will hate it. It's all about personal prefs really.
Have a look around the web http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=snes+emulator+for+pocket+pc&meta=
find a few and install them.... usually they are just a cab file that needs putting on your device and then clicking to run it exactly the same as any other PPC bit of software
Yo guy, stop making the same thread over and over again. The mods keep closing them for a reason you dope.
Sorry man im just getting overly frustrated with this i cant seem to get it on my phone i dont know exactly what to do.
Ok, I'm going to try and close this topic once and for all...
I went to http://www.spicypixel.com/web/page/morphgear/Download.aspx and downloaded MorphGear and SNES9X MorphModule by clicking on the link [CAB].
I then extracted both of the resulting ZIP files on my Vista box, and copied them to my phone using WM Device Center. After the copy was complete, I tapped on both CABs to install them (to Main Memory). I then copied one of my SNES games to my phone (I will not provide any of these because they are illegal unless you have the physical cartridge in your possession).
I then went to Start -> Programs -> Games -> MorphGear, and launched the program. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF NEEDING A SERIAL NUMBER, MorphGear is an open source application.
I then clicked on the Open file icon and browsed to where I copied Super Punch Out (my SNES game of choice) to, and tapped on it to open.
I spent 30 minutes playing it at FULL 60fps with NO slowdown due to piss poor video drivers that we have to work with.
Please do not take this next part the wrong way, but if you do not know how to install a CAB file or copy files to your device using either ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center, you need to do A LOT of reading before you attempt to do anything other than make/receive phone calls on your device.
Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Question for developers

Right away, forgive my ignorance on the subject, I'm sure I can spend 10-12 hours searching forums and figure it out or someone can take 2 min and just answer it.
Lets say one was to take an app from the market and unzip it into a folder to see what it's made out of. Let's also say that one has absolutely no clue about android, Linux or programming in general, just too much curiosity and a phone to play with. So that certain individual (and I will not admit that it was me, it was.... my friend) found .dex file inside and thought of editing it, nothing fancy, just replace some URLs with other URLs. Here the question: How would I (I mean... my friend) would edit .dex file? Notepad seems to do it but something tell me (I mean... my friend) that it's not the right way. How would I put that app back toghether into .apk format after I'm done with it (Agh, screw it, it's me, it's not my friend). I should also note that I'm not trying to do this for profit or trying to steal someone's app.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Whatever you would like to call it. If it make you happy, I "decompilied" apk file using WinRAR to get a number of files including above mentioned .dex file.
Now that we have that figured out, how do I edit .dex file and repack everything else into .apk?
Thanks
First off, yes you can open the .apk file and see the other files but the files for the actual app are compiled. They arent editable. You would need the source to edit the app in any way.
As to the .dex file if you can open it with a text editor and change stuff all you are likely to do is break the app. As for putting it back together and getting it to install, good luck. You will probably need to get it resigned or something.
If you are wanting to learn how to make apps for android you should download the SDK. I believe there is a tutorial with some example apps that you can make out there somewhere also.

Agh, now we are getting somewhere.
Just for the record: I do not want to make apps, I'd rather leave it to pros and pay few bucks for working app that has no bugs.
The app I am referring too is StreamFusion which is a streaming audio player. Initial install puts about 30 preloaded stations in the playlist, none of which are of any interest to me. I unzipped apk and found this .dex file (resources.dex? not at home, can't check) which contained URLs for default-loaded streams. All I want to do is replace them with URLs of my own so I don't have to search shoutcast, add my stations and delete defaults everytime I decide to wipe my phone. Sounds like such a simple task, yet there's no clear documentation on how to do something like that (at least for the non-dev crowd).
With that said, I don't want to change the way StreamFusion, they do give you an option to remove defaults manually (one by one!) and they do give you an option to add your own stations in the playlist. It just takes too long and I've done it a few too many times already.
I'll keep playing with it, let me know if anyone for sure knows how to do it, otherwise I'll report when I figure it out or when I get tired of it.
Sorry for being rude earlier, i was in a bad mood
If you mean StreamFurious all you need to do is long press the radio station and hit delete

Have you actually tried renaming an .apk file to .zip and opening it? In short, apk is just like a jar. They're just zip files with specific metadata requirements.

when in doubt .. HEX .. hex editing of a file can maintain its purest essence and prevent it from crashing .. provided of course that you edit the right parts .. i've done this thousands of times in computer games .. change one little thing and POOF! your scrawny little piss-ant becomes mighty hercules and you can slay the dragon - LOL - ok .. so maybe not so korny

The defaults that are hard-coded into the apk are loaded on first run into a sqlite3 database. Sure you could edit the hard-coded defaults, but this would be an unclean solution. A better solution would be to backup the sqlite3 database to your computer and restore it with adb whenever you reinstall. You can also easily edit the database conveniently on your pc as well.
The location of the db is /data/data/com.streamfurious.android.free/databases/streamfurious.db
By the way, the SF defaults already include KQED, BBC WS and TWiT. What more could anyone possibly need
You can decompile apk class files from the dex file.

As for repacking it after the edit.....check this out this might help...

Windows Phone 8 hacks

Yes, I have searched quite a different number of ways and have yet to find another thread, on not only this site but others as well, that comes close to answering my question or asking the same one. I assume this means the answer is no, but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Is it possible to hack games on my Windows 8 Phone? I have a Nokia Lumia 520. The particular game in question is Throne Wars. I'd like to get into the game and change the amount of in-game currency I have.
All help is appreciated.

Assuming in-game data is stored in the AppData folder, you could (theoretically) modify some files and results should appear.
Problems you are facing:
-you have a Lumia (so you can't really modify any files because no proper unlock is available)
-we don't know how the game stores it's data (weird file format, etc.)

If the game programmers are followed by the standard scheme only The apps can save data in any format...
Yeah, there's no guarantee that they used the IsolatedStorageSettings feature to store that data. Might have, might not have.
There's also no guarantee that it's unencrypted. Encrypting the data using DPAPI is easy, but makes editing it much harder.
You also could easily get your game account banned. Xbox Live games are known to have anti-cheating mechanisms; Throne Wars may not but then, they might.
But yeah, the key problem for you right now, aside from moderately questionable ethics (let me guess: this is one of those games where if you need more money you're expected to pay a few dollars for it?) is that your phone has no "interop-unlock" or similar "jailbreak" available right now, so you don't have any way to access the app's isolated storage at all. Thus, you can't change it.

you would need a developer unlock for that (search development & hacking section to get that on your lumia). Next grab Windows phone power tools from here: http://wptools.codeplex.com/ . Install a XAP of the game (you need to find one yourself) usinf power tools. Next you run the game, after that you can copy its data to a pc using Isolated Storage feature in power tools. enjoy.
