tells you your SMS message has been delievered. i disable it because i find it very annoying and fairly worthless.
It's really useful in the odd occasion when you want to know someone has turned their phone on (say your better half is on a plane and you want to know when she lands - send her a delivery report loaded text message and you'll get a hit back when she gets off the plane and turns her phone on).
Be aware that some networks charge for it though... and don't include it in inclusive texts...
hmm....damn i wish i could of known that...my "better half" left me last week....i really could of used that for the last year..o well...i will leave it enabled
thank you

Guys!
when i send a msg to someone, very very often instead of sending 1sms it sends several, ranging from 2 to 6 even.
so heres the story:
1. write sms to a friend. = 1 sms less than 160char
2. send sms to friend
3. receive delivery report, or even if option is off, no matter.
4. get a reply from my friend that i sent him the msg several times.
- this is not isolated case, this has happened with numerous numerous numbers. from different networks and different numbers etc. so theres a problem i think. whats wrong?
Yes only recently I've been Having thois problem with my XDA2i
Happens if I shut down Messagin before its sent as it seems to send it but doesn't remove from the outbox and then sends again when I open messaging again.
no non o, i do close messaging always. but its like if you just choose also: NEW -> message from the today screen. but itheres no msg in outbox, and i get that it sent msg. and get delivery also.
mayb idnt understand ur story 2 well?
I have the same problem
I have the exact same problem. I think three is the maximum number of times I have seen it sent. My phone only shows it once in the outbox and, if I remember correctly, shows only the time I actually sent the message - not the time(s) of the repeat(s). The repeated message may go out many hours after the actual send. This has been happening for a year or more.
Sorry I don't have any ideas why it happens.
yeah yeah yeah. you're right. i had once 7 msgs sent to my sister over a period of 8 or more hours even the next morning when she woke up she got a msg at like 7am from me same old thing damn you know. can get confusing at times. no solutions?
i sent a multiple msg to about 10 people on my bill appeared that i sent around 70 msgs
holy sh**. darn that aint good at all. that really really aint good at all. talk bout a money spendin scam ok. no we need big big help on sb to help us out 2 that. but no1 has ideas i guess:/ hopefully this topic wont die and sb will b able2save us.
I had the same problem, i think it was caused by task managers, it only seemed to happen when i had either vbar or spb installed. I don't use a task manager now and i don't have the problem.
Yes, YOu're not alone guys me too have the same problem here.....
does anyone know how to fix the double SMS problem in O2 XDA IIi ?
everytime I send SMS, it will re send again, so the recipient always received two or more same SMS from me. :-( this is very annoying.
you know - ppl think i'm an idiot or smth and continuously keep sending me replies "no need to send it twice" and so on yeah....aint the brightest side o life. but i think what i read smwhere else is true - if i just dont close the messaging window until it sends then it should b ok i think. bnut thats still not a solution...
Hey i dont know if this is a phone issue or an AT&T issue. I have the Tilt and sometimes when people send me text messages it doesnt come in right away. Sometimes the text messages come in when i turn the phone off standby and then the text messages come but i notice the time and the message was supposed to come earlier. Does anyone else have that problem? Do you understand what im talking about? Well hope u guys can answer me....thanks
possibly att problem?
cuz i dont have that problem with my tytnII
Default Text Messaging
hello well i had the same issue and it is a at&T issue i had to cal and had them reset my my phone threw there data system and then they did a check.and made sure that my settings on there end was correct.try this and let me know if this helped.
sometimes if tmail.exe isnt running in the background, usually due to task managers shutting it then the msgs take longer to come through.
tmail is in my exclude list with the htc task manager to avoid this issue.
Do you have an old simcard? some new phones work bad with old simcards.
If so, get an updated sim from yer provider.
Well i called AT&T and they told me to do a test text and it worked fine. But i told her my issue of most of the time the text messages come through at the right time but sometimes when the phone is in hibernate it doesnt come till i take it off hibernate. she said it could be the issue of me pressing the power/hibernate button instead of lettin the phone go to hibernate by itself. so does anyone of you guys know if that could be a problem?
this used to happen to me....it sorta just fixed itself...
Ok first off, been a member here for awhile but never posted because most everything was GSM (nice to finally see a CDMA section).
So my prob is this; almost every short text I send (lol, ok, lmao... those kind) to someone, they get it twice. Longer texts dont seem to cause it. I'm using a kitchen from ppcgeeks and have the latest Arcsoft.
The only thing I can think of is that there must be some sort of receipt timer in the programs registry that needs to be tweaked. I have combed the reg looking for it, but cant seem to figure out which one it might be. Any help?
if one close outlook before getting a msg sendt notification and one have set
X to terminate rather then minimize that very thing happens
I have my sent notifications turned off, I'll turn em back on and see if that helps.. Thanks for the reply
Well that didnt help either... People are still getting duplicates from me

After you are done typing out your text, hit Enter, then Send. See if they still get dupes.
To wake people up without waiting by the phone.
pretty cool
Just wanted to add I think this would be pretty cool, and unique.
Otherwise known as the "stalker app"...pretty sure this would be pulled from the Market if it existed.
I really, really need to find a way to send a pretyped text message at a predetermined time.
That's something ill pay for.
Though the stalker app seems useful, I really NEED the timed-text option.
There is an app called FutureSMS which supposedly sends text messages at scheduled time but I could not get it to work. I don't know if it's because I use Handcent or what but you may want to give it a try
sounds like your trying to stalk or annoy the hell out of someone, i doubt itll be on the market long if at all...
Gramon, could you share it with me? I mean...FutureSMS

No, when i find out what work assignment to send everyone at night, i wanna auto send-text them there stuff when im asleep and they wake up for work.
Not sending it at the 3am when i find out what everything is for everyone, and waking everyone the hell up.
SMSbomer is a pretty good alarm clock when u get hit with 100s of SMSs at 6AM
Back when the Internet was booming, in the late '90s, there was aservice that used to do this for you. I would hit snooze for hours, in college, so I set it up, and it would call my sweet-ass Qualcomm ThinPhone & force my ass to get up. It wouldn't stop calling until you picked up.

Hey guys, so today I decided to backup my texts and once I did that I started to delete messages from my phone (as I normally do without any problems). I know it can take literally forever for just one convo to delete especially if you have over TONS of messages, so i waited and waited for the 'deleting messages' box to disappear.
I left my phone doing it's thing whilst ocassiaonlly using the phone at the same time, obviously I didn't do anything in texts, but when I went back on messaging I noticed it was gone, so I tapped on messaging again only to find the 'opening conversation' to appear and its been stuck like that for ages, therefore I cannot access any of my texts yet..
Any advice on what to do? Is it really still opening conversations? (it's been about 15mins probably!) and I have no idea if it deleted one of my convo's fully.. Is it safe to turn the phone off & then back on perhaps? I don't want to risk losing anything...
Hope it all makes sense. Thanks!
EDIT: nevermind sorry, it literally just stopped with the opening conversation message and back up. My convo I tried to delete is still there though, so will try again and not touch anything this time! Sorry, please remove this thread if you wish!

Appreciate the response, but I thought I would ask to see if other people had the same experience and therefore can share the right way forward?

Oh my days, it's now probably been about 2 hours since I started deleting and its STILL doing it - is it supposed to take THIS long?
I had my phone showing messages from another conversation/recipient a few days ago. In this case, all alerts from my train operator about delays were showing as being sent from my wife.
Killing the task and reloading messaging seemed to fix it, but it now has me worried that such problems might one day see me getting corruption errors, although I don't really have any texts I couldn't afford to lose.
