Push to Talk not working after Flash - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Ok my guess is that there is no registry for PTT to work. Does anyone know what I have to add in the registry to make PTT work. I still get the PTT alerts and hear when people try to contact me but when I hit the PTT button on my Tilt the damn Task Manager comes up. I can't change the program it opens in buttons because the PTT option is not on the list. So i believe the registry is not there. Please help I'm paying for something I can't use and I really need this feature. Hope some of you tech guys could assist me. Will donate if it works.

I'm not having that problem but I would be interested in knowing if there is a way to alter the push to talk button. I would like to set it up to be used for something else.

Which ROM. A lot of cooks disable the PTT button and reassign it. Please search the forum... this topic has been covered.

No it hasn't been covered actually. I manually search through so many pages, used the search feature and to no avail. I know their are ROM's with the PTT built in to the ROM but I love Schaps Rom and don't want to switch to lets say Dutty's. No Offense. I still hear when my buddies PTT me but I can't respond because the PTT button is mapped to Task Manager. If I try and change the mapping I don't have a Push to Talk Option. I think something needs to be added in the registry and if I knew I'd not be doing this right now. Based on my topic and the amount of views It looks like no one seems to know the answer. How about this, if you can find the "topic" I will Paypal you 20 dollars. Deal?

and KB cherry there is a thread with some CAB file downloads. Theres a cab so you can remap the PTT button for whatever funtion you want. If you can't find it provide me your email address and i'll attach the CAB file so you can just drag it to your desktop. send your email addy on a private message.

If it's there as you say & it's jus Registry related take a look at my old Reg dump text. It's a .txt, so you can use the "find" feature for "PTT".

i appreciate your help man with the link of the REG dump file. And for the last person who said it was already covered while you're looking for that post to prove me wrong slap yourself in the back of the neck for being ignorant and providing no help whatsoever. Waste of a post

Ok i'm looking at the Registry Log and I'm using Schaps 4.31 with the built in registry editor. I cannot add a new key because there is no option to do so. I only have the option to Open Path, Copy Path, View, Refresh,About and Exit. Should I be using another registry editor

Yeah the registry editor is schaps 4.31 will not let you add keys. I just download FHM reg editor and it works fine. Still working on the PTT fix. When I get the fix i'll post it on the forum. A cab file would be nice to have.

How to remap Tilt Push To Talk button

This will drive me crazy. I have had the button above the volume mapped to Voice Command ever since I can remember. Now for the Tilt, it is mapped to Push to talk which I will never, ever use and the button mapping does not allow you to reassign it. Does anyone know if this is possible with any of the button manager programs? Do I need to flash the Kaiser ROM for this?
Also, the 8125 had a feature where you held this button down and it would swap the sound over to vibrate. If anyone knows how to get this working on the Kaiser, I highly recommend it. Beats having to pull the phone out of the holster/case to silence it, especially in a meeting.
Search for the answer.... It is here.
tried searching on push to talk. searching on buttons brings back a ton of results, none of which are specific to this particular problem. any suggestions on where to search and for what term or phrase?
Update, I found one... over in the hermes forum. This would be a good addition to the cab list sticky now that more folks are getting the AT&T ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=279585&highlight=push+to+talk+map
I'll update after I have tried it on the Tilt
PTTFix work fine per the tread reference above but even though it allows you to assign a program to press and hold, there is no program "per se" to enact the vibrate setting. I do see this option on the HTC Home Screen though so maybe it is possible to create a shortcut in the Program Files directory and call it indirectly. I'll try this later when I have some time, but if anyone else gets to it first, please do share. TIA
this will do it for you.
I was never a fan of PTT anyway... Thanks for the CAB Tim. Works like a charm. For those curious, the option to select Vibra switch will be found under Settings > Buttons. Remap Button 6 to Vibra (Switch).
Spoke too soon. The PTTFix cab showed the buttons under the setting window, but after setting them, it still brought up the PTT screen. I though perhaps it needed a soft reset, and after doing so the ability to remap the PTT button disappeared.
isdereks, did you try this on the Tilt or the Kaiser? I am thinking the latter, since the PTTFix.cab shows the PTT button as a second button 5. Perhaps this is part of the problem of why it looks like it allows the setting, but doesn't actually work.
Bummer. I am quite disappointed. On top of all the bloatware, you get a button that launches an app that immediately errors out as I am not a PTT subscriber. HTC and MS should be pissed that AT&T is making the iPhone look like a clear winner. Pretty soon Apple will be running comercials with the big bloated guy for the iPhone too.
Sorry forgot to mention that I did this on the Kaiser.
yeah the new PTTFix did not work on my tilt, but worked great on my 8525. I hope this gets updated for the tilt.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334759
yeah tried all that and the reg settings do not stay after phone is shut down.
Worked for me. You have to read the whole post.
For my own purposes as well, here are the consolidated steps to take. Until someone improves on this, I keep all this stuff in a directory so I can reconfigure my device as necessary. Here goes...
I think the trick is the PTT settings take precedence when the device boots up so delete the PTT registry settings under HKLM/Services/PTT. Delete the whole sub tree, then
From HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
Add a new key called "40C6"
Add a string under the key called "Name" with the value "Button 6"
Add a new key called "40C7"
Add a string under this key called "Name" with the value "Button 6 (hold)"
(Note, do not enter the quotes, thare are to delimit what belongs in the registry entry)
Go to the Buttons settings and assign a program to the new entries. I di Voice Dial and Vibra (Switch) from the link earlier in the this post.
Do a soft reset which will remove the PTT settings from the buffer and enable your key changes.
Thanks for all the help.
I'd say the only caveat is if you some day want to use the PTT features, it would be a good idea to take an inventory fo what is under the PTT node in the registry.
It worked "GREAT". Thanks and so easy even I could do it
Instead of deleting the "PTT" key, i suggest simply renaming it to "PTTbak". That way you can just rename it back to "PTT" if you ever need to use it.
Thats what i did, and it works fine.
BTW, excellent work everyone. After upgrading to the tilt from the 8525 i lost 2 side buttons (comm manager button and the PTT button)... now i've got at least one back!
Maybe someone could offer a suggestion. For the life of me, I cannot get the reg entries of 40C6 and 40C7 to stick. I am using PHM Registry Editor. I am powering down and back up. Anyone have any suggestions?

did you delete the ptt key? (or at least rename as was suggested above?)
if you did try using the phone for while after you make the registry changes - run some other programs - then power down
greg
Greg, I renamed it and then nothing would happen. no button map and no PTT action. I am about ready to give up. But I will try your suggestions. Thanks.
NOw I got the PTT action back (the PTT screen pops up) but I cannot get the the button to do anything. I made the hold vibra and the direct push VC. Now nothing happens. Not sure what I did wrong. Not a noob at reg edits and I don't see anything wrong.
Oh well, not that big a deal, but am still open for more suggestions.
i tried renaming the PTT registry key and it didnt work. actually deleting it worked.
REG PTT
After doing the reg posted above the PTT button is free but you will notice after you push it, before the new app assigned to it pops up you will see the ptt screen for a second. What if the phone things you are using the ptt function and not Voice command or Viigo like I am?

Turn PTT back on

Okay, So I can find a TON of threads asking about how to remap the PTT button to do other tasks, but here I find myself in the opposite position.
I'm using Dutty's latest (for the moment) ROM and it comes with PTT already remapped to voicedial. I need to use PTT for work so can anyone tell me how to reassign the PTT button to PTT?
I've tried importing the reg settings for PTT from the original Tilt ROM but I think I must have missed some or something because now the PTT button does absolutely nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I'm bringing this back up because I have yet to find the answers I need elsewhere. Does anyone know or is anyone willing to help me find a way to hack PTT in to a kaiser ROM? With At&t's lack of a 6.1 ROM (If I'm wrong please let me know I did not find one) I no longer have the 'cook your own ROM' option with my level of expertise. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
It's not just reg. settings. You need to find a way to launch the PTT service again. If you killed the service w/ SK Tools you can easily get it back, however if you did it another way, well then I suppose you need to browse around for one of the PTT cabs. I'm not sure they have one working yet though so you may need to back up & then hard reset. Then you can do a restor in upgrade mode under Sprite's advanced settings so that your restore doesn't overwrite the button again with what currently exists.

Not your normal PTT question ** Please Help Me ***

Ok I think I am one of the few people that actually uses the PTT feature from ATT, I love using the cooked ROM's but can not locate a CAB for the PTT functionality. Does anyone know if it even exists?
I have searched and searched, but all I get is CAB files for re-mapping the PTT button, which I do NOT want to do...
Please help me or I am stuck with the bloated ATT ROM.
look in the updating section...there is no way to get PTT on a non-at&t rom i believe...
Yes there is. You'll need to hunt down all the files for it (Try alex's oem pacages maybe) & then find someone that has it installed that's willing to do a partial registry export for you.
If you put all the PTT files into the windows directory & then import the correct registry settings, it will work. I'd help out, but I don't use PTT & didn't back up my settings.
You can try try this cab: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=44721&d=1185085638
& then this to enable the button assignment: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=44722&d=1185085670
But you'll still probably have to run the provisioning xml &, like I said import the correct registry keys.
Ohh, & after installing the above then do this one last. http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=60402&d=1196730655
what the heck....how come when i asked this question everybody said no? lol
in that case...i have the same problem as you...i want PTT back on my my tilt...only i removed PTT the stupid way....deleted every registry key and .exe and folder that had to do with it only b/c that smiley face drove me crazy...
hmm...that first cab did the trick for me...i opened up PTT...and it says
"PTT charges will apply.
Do you wish to initialize PTT?
im afriad to click yes, b/c if i do..i dont want to get that smiley face back...
You will still probably need to use the last cab to. It's an AT&T fix.

Bro I had made the same thread and I have the CAB file bro. It puts the Icon in the programs menu and works. I'm using it on Dutty's Diamond Rom. I'll attach in my next post. Have to dig up my thread.
Ok bro I found it!! Had to look at all my post.

Click on that and look through his collection the PTT cab file is in there. That's where I got mines from.
Hope this helps.
radio question
my radio is in the 1.65.14xxxx tree is that a good radio tree to be on or should I change?

disable ptt button on tilt

I have a new tilt and I want to disable the ptt button to reasign it. Using PHM RegEdit I located the hklm/services key but there isn't a ptt key. I understand I need to delete it when I find it but of all that is under services, ptt isn't one of them and I've looked through forum after forum and I seem to be the only one with this problem. This is what mine looks like: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Services/
App
BTAGSVC
BthAsPlugin
BTHIDSVC
CERTENROLL
credsvc
DTPT
GPSDaemonService
HtcServices
HTCSVC
Keypad
LASSD
NOTIFY
OBEX
QuickGPS
SNApi
SqmUpload
stk_service
Trusted
ussd
wirelessService
If anyone could help I'd appreciate it I am about to give up on it
While I am glad you tried to look through the forum, my first advice would be to look to the wiki for help. As this is your first post I'll forgive you , but please do check the wiki before posting again.
Check this out.
Hope that helped.
I used a TaskManager registry editor and deleted the PTT in RegEdit - HKLE Machine (I think that's where it is) and then use OEM_ASSIGNPTTBUTTON; it's a CAB but I do not know how to attach files here
You can Google search it on these XDA forums and, using that CAB, you can assign whatever you want to the PTT Button. I assigned the background light to it

PTT Button Issue PLZ HELP

Hey everyone, I have been pouring over the forum and havent found anything. The few people I asked (including the maker of the ROM i use RRE Fuze V2.1) we can't figure it out. Here's the deal.
I use PTT, I got the PTT cab (RaphaelPTT_2008_09_10_A.cab)
The way his ROM is set up, total commander starts when you short press the PTT button, and the camera starts when you long press it.
I have tried deleting, renaming, moving, modifying the long_PTT.ink and short_PTT.ink links in the /Windows/ folder, but they are ROM files, if by some chance I am successful at renaming them, i look again and they have been added back.
So when i short push my PTT button to see my PTT contact list, the voice commander starts up and when i long press to talk to my contact, the camera starts or takes a picture. Quite annoying.
So, does anyone know a fix for this? or is there a way/program i can use to delete the file from the ROM? Any suggestions at all would be MUSH appreciated. Thank you.
