How to use kaiser as a modem? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I have a tytn 2 and would like to use it as a modem. Can anyone tell me how to go about doing this? I have hsdpa speeds with my mobile provider and will like to connect my tytn 2 to my laptop and use my mobile internet connection on my laptop. Please give me a step by step instruction on how to achieve this. Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Yeah, its simple. Use search and find the tons of threads explaining how to do it.

To be honest i used the searc function and noner of the results that came up made any sense! Anyway i received my phone this morning and the instructions are there on page 173. silly me

It is very simple, there is a program called Internet Sharing.
Connect you phone to your computer, then press connect in Internet Sharing, BOOM! your done.
Note: I know on the tilt Internet Sharing doesn't show up on the programs section. You have to open file explorer, go into the windows folder and find it their, I suggest making a shortcut once you do find it.

anyone have a cab for ICS? i had it on my WM6 wizard, but im kinda missing it on my 8925/tilt ive tried searching the forum here, but we all know how well the search works..

Are you sure it isn't in the Windows directory?
I've read in HowardForums several AT&T Tilt users are using Internet Sharing out of the box, but there isn't a Start Menu shortcut for it.

ActiveSync guest mode

Hey guys, I ran across this link and thought i'd share. basically its a way to kill the automatic partnership in activesync. Helps a lot if your constantly reloading roms and just use AS to transfer files. Or use the reg settings in the zip. Enjoy!

That's definitely something very useful that you found.

be careful, papamopps says there are problems with it ... so lets wait for his reply before I suggest using it... since I have never used it myself.

How to make IE default browser.

So after 40 minutes of wasting time (searching how to do it) I got nothing.
Anyone know how i can make Internet Explorer the default browser? I tried and couldnt find it.. An answer is all i am looking for.
This was originally named something else, but I renamed it so I could find it again. It's buried in a thread somewhere.
Anyway, this restores the registry settings for IE and has fixed IE getting hosed a few times. By Opera, or seemingly randomly. I've had to run this at least 3 times in the last 3 months.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.. you made my day :]
Thanks
Thanks works perfectly on my T-Mobile wing
This worked on my Fuze too. It is a big help.
Thanks,

There are cab extractors I'm sure that could be used on it, but otherwise I wouldn't have a clue, I just saved it from another thread. I couldn't find the thread, so I just attached the cab I'd saved.

Unzip it was WinRAR and have a look at the _setup.xml.
Or try a product like WinCE CAB Manager, or any other good cab creation software
Or just google, creating CAB files, there's lots of suggestions

Sorry if this is a newb question. It's working with email links, but how do I change the HTC touchflo settings to make IE the browser that is invoked from the touchflo menu at the bottom of the screen? I can't seen any touchflo settings besides the thing about sounds when finger scrolling, etc.

This worked on my HTC Touch Pro and my HTC Touch Pro II ...Opera just isn't ready to be the default browser. Too much overhead, its just too slow (even on the Touch Pro II) and I just cant count on it for viewing web pages consistantly like I can with IE. One day I will be able to watch a YouTube video on my Windows Mobile phone ...still waiting for that day. The Droid certainly is a fast bugger and can you tube but between the keyboard and the excessive power usage ...and quite honestly lack of application support ...I am sticking with Windows for now. This little fix made my life much better. Thanks again.

was iphone now Diamond

Hello I am new to this forum as well as windows mobile. I have an original iPhone (not 3G) and while I do believe that as far as function goes it works very well. I saw the diamond at best buy and liked it right away. The smaller size and design got me. SO I now have a few questions:
1. I see an H and very few times its a G but thats only for like a few seconds then it becomes an H again. Why doesn't it say 3G?
2. How do I get flash?
3. MY googles map does not find my locaction.
4. How can I add photos from my computer?
5. what about apps? is there a way and place to add to them.
6. When I am going to return a text message it does not bring up the last text until I close keyboard and re-open it.
7. It will not connect to check my gmail.
I am a noobie at this thing but so far I love it.
Thanks,

HSDPA is much faster than normal 3G so be happy you've got HSDPA coverage!!! I live in an area with mostly crappy edge [E] coverage myself... I have to go to the city to have fast 3G speeds...

H is short for HSDPA which is actually faster than standard 3G:

You really need to learn how to use a search engine dude, it takes about two second to Google for "gmail windows mobile" to get your answer:
https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886
no offence meant to anyone, but i just laughed.
this kinda sums up the whole iPhone/Mac versus WM/PC stereotype thing in one ironic thread.
A happy-go-lucky Apple user expecting everything to be super easy and not having to read the manual because everything just works, and the tired old Windows veterans explaining that you have to think and work harder to get things to run smoothly.
(and that's the polite version of both )
You'll be happy with your Diamond (once you get it sussed!), I think it's a great phone (mostly). You should find almost everything you need to know on these forums, but you will have to search. a bit of effort pays off
You were aware that you need to select go to my location from the menu in google maps? Go over to gmail home page, not gmail itself, you will see a link with specific instructions on setting up an IMAP conection on windows mobile. Follow the instructions exactly and it will work. You dont show 3g because your not connected to it, your connected to hspda which is faster so be glad you got the coverage. Install activesync and allow your phone to finish syncing. Then select explore and mobile device in the window that pops up. Move your photos over to whatever location you want. You will move apps over to the phone in the same manner. I would suggest you create a folder on your internal storage, call it apps or whatever you want and move them there. You can then browse to them on your phone and install. There are a few programs such as.net framework that you execute on your computer with the phone connected via activesync but these are the exception rather than the rule. Most programs will come as a cab and will be executed on the phone. It pays to read up on stuff before you go hog wild or you will be asking how to do a hard reset... I just joined the WM party 3 weeks ago so I understand it can be a little overwhelming but your post is practically begging to get slammed by the do a search queens. If a pathetic old man like me can get most of this figured out anyone can.

Can you elaborate a little .... "answer intercom or page someone"????
What are you trying to do?
I guess you want it to work as a walkie-talkie?

at&t's version of this is the Push to Talk. Costs extra.
Other than that I suppose you could try and setup Skype on your phone, but that's not really walky-talk type stuff. But it avoids voice charges.
may not be what you're after but i was playing with parlingo yesterday specifically the voice chat and when i sent a "voice note" to my buddy it played the message without him doing anything. now we already had a chat session opened (didn't try without it being started)
It's possible

If you've got a bluetooth-enabled intercom, it's possible. You could do it with a wire as well.
As for paging someone, you could text them.
If you want a walkie-talkie style device, there's a program out there (I forget it's name, but found it using Google) that lets you do this using the WiFi connection on your phone. Works okay even with full-duplex voice communications.
If you give us some more information on what you want to achieve, I'm sure we'll be able to help more.

4Talk is the one that I was referring to earlier. Thanks for pointing me back at it!
It'll work over infrastructure or ad-hoc wifi networks, so with a bit of configuration you can get it to work just like a walkie-talkie.
