Stock T-Mobile ROM EDGE capable?

Does anyone know if the Default ROM that the MDA comes with from T-Mobile is compatible with EDGE? I never see the "E" Icon on the phone only "G" (Gprs) and the speeds reflect that. I have tried ver 2.17 and I get the "E" icon and much faster speeds. I needed to downgrade since 2.17 doesnt work with Goodlink. SUCKS!
I believe the stock version is 1.8.

Are you sure you have the registry hack installed on your default ROM? the 2.17 rom may have it installed by default.

The stock Tmobile US rom does indeed support EDGE, it just doesn't change from G to E. I didn't notice any speed difference between roms, just that the indicator would change.

go to the FTP and look in the t-mobile extend cab folder for the file Signed_Edge_Icon.sa.CAB thats all that you need to run.

Don't see it in there...

Probably as simple as going to your providers website and setting up the GPRS and MMS settings in the phone. Or searching the forums for the carrier customization cab files. At least that is all we have to do in the US for T-Mobile and Cingular (T-Mobile's site has an error on it though)

Good clean aku3.3 ROM. One day and no problem so far yet. All my problems from the original T-Mobile one were gone. Will let you know if anything came up. Thanks for your effort!

They are seperate. You have to remember that if you have a G4 then you will brick you phone by doing the update seperately. You can still install the original from tmobile to get the radio and ipl/spl update if you would like, then you just have to flash this OS only update

Some questions:
Did you succeed in getting the Operator name (from the active network) in the upper left corner?
Is the MSN messenger stuff out
Are there any crossbow icons, skins, themes and welcome in.
What dialer do you use and is it smartdial enabled? I like the black big-key dialer
What performance tweaks are in (the Wizard isnt that fast as we know)

I have a G3 T-Mobile MDA. I plan to flash the original Croatia 3.3 Rom, and flash you OS rom. I have one more question please. What is the 'Blank Ext Rom' for? Do I need to flash it too? If I do, What is the flash order?

3) Did you replace the godawful T-mobile pink and gray Smartdialing skin?

Yes, but AT&T network seems to read my sim which shows Cingular
MSN Messenger stuff was left along

I used the default dialer, it was always there, just reg keys that needed to be deleted. As for smartdial, it is enabled.
I didnt really put any performance tweaks in, I just tried to slim the rom down a little and make it not so bloated.

1. No it does not activate the Cingular Extended Rom.
2. Awe cmon let me enjoy this release for a bit, working on 2 is nuts. if you want just dump both roms and grab the files you want removed and delete them, then put the original ones back in from the original release
3. Yes, that was the first thing to go. Pretty easy actually, just delete a few reg keys and all the pic files, also one dll file. It appears that the phcan*.dll's hold the phone dialer graphics.
4. Everything seemed to work fine when i installed it. Not sure what DRM is, so no idea if it tested it or if it was successful.
As a side note, I was able to get the Palm Threaded SMS application to work on this release. Still dont work on the Official Cingular, so i think im gonna stick with this one. LOL.

Cannot download from sendspace,the site always says all slots for your country ........etc etc could not download Jaguar3.1 for the same reason,any other download link possible?

Getting Name Display to Work

Hello all,
For Canadian Rogers/FIDO subscribers, like myself, Name display on non- rogers or Fido phone does not work. However, with the help of pandaboyy and others, they were able to get it working on the Diamond1 and Touchpro1. Please see:

Try using this .CAB. It should be universal for most HTC-based WinMo 6 devices, as it works on my Xperia.

The only way we could get this to work on a Topaz or a Rhodium is for Rogers to release one of the devices. Name display worked on the Diamond, Raphael and Xperia because Rogers released a Rogers-branded Diamond, and the rilphone.dll from the stock Rogers ROM was used to get CNAP to work in all Diamond, Raphael and Xperia ROM's. However, the despite having most of the same hardware (processor, memory, etc.) specs, the Rhodium and the Topaz are different and that's why the rilphone.dll from the Rogers Diamond ROM won't work in them.

I am running LEO CELL EVO 4 Rom on my Tilt2. SO i gave the Rogers Name Display cab link above (under scar45 post) worked on my Tilt 2. Well not 100%. It works flawlessly with WM Phone dialer skin. However with HTC Sense Phone skin, during the incoming call it only shows the number however as soon as you answer it, the name shows up. it also shows up under the call logs. SO i am guessing for the HTC Phone dialer it must have something to do with the resolution of the phone canvas? any ideas anyone?

Well, I did the same thing you did, and I get the same results. Strange that the name is displayed in Sense only after you answer the call...
Hopefully someone will be able to figure it out.

So far no one has gotten it to work properly using an HTC dialer. If you don't mind using the WM dialer, then it works just fine.

T-Mobile MDA Vario IV NL

Dutch T-Mobile sold the T-Mobile MDA Vario IV, that's the T-mobile branded version of HTC TouchPro.
Since they placed a Rom update on their website and I installed it, the weather tab and the internet tab are gone.
I installed the file HTC HD Weather TAB v1.3.cab but the weather tab didn't show up. I tried to activate the weather tab using Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3.0.0 but still no weather tab.
Does someone know how to reactivate the weather tab (and maybe the internet tab).

Hey I've got also a Vario IV, trust me, you don't want the stock ROM, it sucks!(by my opinion)
However, for your problem, here's an app: Diamond TF3D Config ,I used it on my Vario IV, and could set up wich tab I wanted to see/use! Try it!
