Battery Issues... Sudden death - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi everyone.. I need some help with this problem.
This is what happened .. Last night before going to sleep i checked the time on my kaiser, then made sure no applications were running and pressed the power buton (for sby). The battery was at 79%. This morning the phone was switched off. When i press the power to turn it on the battery was fully drained and completely dead. This is not the first time this has happened. And it doesnt matter at what charge the battery is. IT JUST HAPPENS... By the way i have it in flight mode since i never use it as a phone. I contacted the rep in my country and said they can check it out, but i would prefer avoiding the 2 weeks waiting...
ANY ideas...
Thank you all

Either there is something wrong with your battery or you've got software installed which drains your battery all the time.
Disable or uninstall monitoring programs or third party apps that can cause battery drain.
Did you install new apps recently?

ive had that issue once, gave me a rlod!
i basically ran pocket mechanics file cleanup...
took a while so i gave it 5 minutes, then bam! battery dead and had then saw the infamouse rlod. i was scared ****less
but after a ressurection with aid of some htc guy,
i had to hard reset(many of the files became corrupt) and it never happened again.
sooo try a hard reset

can you explain the ressurection with aid of some htc guy?
thx

Hi everyone.
Thanx for the replies. Well i havent installed any software lately and the only monitoring software i have is the battery status which i dont think is the problem since the reason i installed was these sudden deaths...
is there any way to find out if a certain app drains power when in standby mode?

Battery suddenly dropping happened to me twice... re-charged the battery and had no more issues concerning battery dropping. Possibily, it's some kind of app that keeps on running even though task manager does not trace it... That's my point.
To see whether your Kaiser is consuming more power than needed, close all running apps and leave it on until it reaches the idle power consumption (my Battery Status says 40-50 mA).
Also, complete discharge-charge cycle could help re-calibrate the battery gauge.

Battery Drain on G1

Guys,I own a T Mobile G1 Android 1.6 Phone and recently I’m facing some problems. The problem that appeared recently is with the battery drain. before some days ago the battery of my G1 lasted up to 4-5 days, without using Wireless, GPS, and Bluetooth. If I used the mentioned services normally the battery lasted up to two days. But recently the battery is draining too fast. Within 4 hours the battery goes down less then 15% even I do not use any mentioned services. I keep my phone on standby, without talking a single minute with the phone, not using any service etc, and again it goes down very quick. I took some measures according to HTC instructions how to save the battery but again it does not function. I uninstalled all applications and reset the phone to factory setting by again same thing. Then I searched on the Google some instructions, I tried also that one’s but again it does not function. I always used HTC charger that came with the phone but again same problem. What is the strangest thing that after some days the battery gets back and works perfectly for two weeks, which means I use the phone normally without charging 4-5 days. As I operate very well with the smartphones, Pocket PC’s etc I start analyzing G1 and monitoring very closely why the battery goes down, I monitored for a long time the query under the :About Phone-Battery use- and I see there that Andorid OS is using the battery from 76% up to 85%. Now it came to my mind that something is keeping engaged or it keeps running the Andorid OS always on. Then I suspected that thre my be any virus on my phone, but I installed form Market Flexilis/lookout antivirus application, but there was no virus and again the battery goes very quickly down. As I said after sometime the system returns to normal and the battery lasts for 4-5 days, and when I check the information under Phone,Battery use, I see that the Andorid OS is spending only 6% of the battery. Comparing with the previous description it is a huge difference. According to my opinion there is a small problem with any file which keeps always running to much the Andorid OS. Can you please give me any instruction why Andorid OS is spending that much the battery? Or give me any instruction how to prevent this operation that keeps Android OS to much engaged? or is there any programming mistake?, is there any need for update?, do I need to root my phone as it is not rooted? The reason why I’m thinking that there is a technical problem is because sometimes the system gets back to normal and sometimes it goes out of normal running. I appreciate a lot if you could help me to resolve the mentioned problem.
I've noticed the same thing on my G1 sometimes there is fast battery drain and it seems associated with Android OS. The percentage is over 70%. I also notice it be associated with the display as well. Could be that there is some process that won't stop running and is using Android OS or it could be that on other occasions the display is not going into sleep mode properly. I wish I knew how to fix these problems but I don't. I just observe them.
The battery issue, is an up and down problem for me. Sometime I can go through it in one day or less, other days it will last me for 2 plus days.
It also could be that the battery need replacing. Who's know.
I just bought a 2nd hand G1 - works just fine. I rooted and installed CM6.1.
My battery drains within 1-2 hours. I've tried various methods of resetting stats, with no luck. How frustrating! I wonder if it's a battery hardware problem or software?
battery
I also faced bad battery life on various roms. Since I'm using COS-DS (android 2.3.3) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950765 and the Biffmod kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=950765 the phone runs more than 24h when texting and calling. Of course you should apply the 14MB RAM hack in comination with this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139. On standby (everything off, except data and 3g) my G1 runs >48h, before it needs to be plugged in.

Sounds like the basic description of the USB Charging Bug.
The bug triggers if the G1 is using a kernel starting 2.6.35 and onward tree, and charged using the USB instead of AC wall charger.
A couple of option to avoid the super discharge after that (you can use either);
1. Reboot after you unplug the USB charger.
2. Change kernel to one from 2.6.34 tree
You can also visit the Dev sub-forum, there's a thread there discussing the debugging process.
It is so unpredictable for me...I have just got into the habit of a reboot after unplugging USB.
Battery drain on the G1
I have the same problem. Even on standby it drops to less than half of its battery life. Sometimes its worse. today i noticed that the battery percentage was at 84. Next thing I know the phone reboots itself and it displays that it has 1% battery, battery icon empty all in red and LED flashing in red. Then I turn it off connect it to the charger, after a couple of seconds I turn it back on and says its 90 something percent. Could be a virus or just a battery bug, that's my guess. I scanned the phone with Lookout Security and there was no Virus, malware or spyware found.
I want to try different kernels for this battery issue but want to make sure I am installing the right one.
I have CM6.1 with 2.22.23.02 radio and DangerSPL installed. Can I just load any of the kernels built for EBI0?
Specifically, can I flash the kernel in the 1st post here? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010932
Thanks.

[Q] [HELP!!]Battery drained in 8h on standby, random restarts and power offs

Hi.
I'm having bit of a problems with my SGS in last couple days; i'll give you last example, but same thing is happening last couple days:
- yesterday I have fully charged my phone; I have disconnected it form charger before I went to sleep.
- today in morning (8h later), phone was turned off
- when I turn it on, I got message to connect it to charger, because battery was on 15% (from 100% to 15% in 8h on standby)
- because this thing was happening last couple days, I have made sure that I didn't leave any apps running in background, that will be able to drain battery that fast.
- I opened settings and take a look at battery statistics;
Cell standby was over 70%!!
When I click on it, it says "Time without signal 70%"
So basically, he has drained almost entire battery by searching for GSM signal. But I have full GSM signal all the time.
But what's the weirdest thing; now that I'm awake, phone will work normally all day; it will last on those 15% almost whole day on standby.
But when i'll go to sleep, ti will start to go crazy over night.
And it's no a problem that he drains almost entire battery over night (it is, but not biggest); problem is that he powers off, so I can miss some important calls in morning (this is my business phone).
do you use a taskkiller? If so, stop using it for a while to see if things improve.
Have you upgraded to Froyo?

I use task manager, and he is "manual" task killer; so I don't have any automatic task killers.

A week ago I made factory reset and clean up my phone, because I had installed bunch of stuff there that I didn't need, and this was faster solution then unistalling one by one app.
I have then rooted my phone (it was rooted also before factory reset), and I have installed voodoo lag fix (before I had one click lag fix).
After that I setup my phone with just stuff I use, and it was working brilliantly till last couple days; only thing that I can remember that I have installed in last couple days was update for angry birds.
One user on Samsung galaxy forum suggested that I switch on flight mode, and than turn it off. Now I will see if this will help; apparently this resets GSM radio.
Voodoo has always been known to kill batteries. I got 8hours on single charge when I was on voodoo. No big deal

How I solved my battery drain problem!
Have you tried turning off 3G?
I also had this issue battery drain was huge. It started appearing suddenly one day. Its a very slow process to figure out the culprit. I did a step by step analysis.
1. Found out that battery drain was happening only when 3G was on. Verified this by switching off data network (long press power button to deactivate).
2. Also verified abnormal data usage in my carrier page when I was not using my phone [like - 3G was on and I was watching a movie at a theater].
3. I also saw abnormal battery drain soon after I started Google Maps after a fresh reboot.
4. So I identified the culprit - Google Maps - but was not sure how to solve battery drain [Google Maps restarts, if you kill it].
5. I installed a variety of apps to identify the battery hog. Finally I went for Task Identifier.
6. Task Identifier finally showed me what programs started while my screen was off, etc. And I started noting them. Finally I figured out that Google Maps::BackgroundFriendService was running frequently.
7. A quick search on Google helped me understand that this is about Google Latitude. It searches for your friend's location every now and then - leading to battery drain!!!
8. I opened up Latitude and signed out from it [I guess the sign out option is in Menu -> Privacy].
9. Do not re-open Google Latitude after this - you will get signed in again leading to battery drain.
10. After 2-3 months of search and prodding, I finally figured out the cause of battery drain and fixed it - now I get 2 - 3 days of charge in my battery under normal usage!!
I'm happy now!!
Hi,
If you're using Froyo and can access file in your phone,
In task manager , on the tab "Summary", click on the "start monitoring" button. Let it monitor the phone over the night. The next morning, there should be 2 files created in your sdcard, one is CPUxxxxx and the other one is battxxxxxx.
The Batxxx tells you when the percentage of the battery at certain time of time. the CPUxxxx will tell you wht applications are running during that period.
When i used it first time, i notice that facebook and lattitude always running - when I stop these 2 tasks; i get a normal drain again.
while you guys are at it.
here's my "problem".
when I surf for an hour over 2g I losing about 10% batterylife and android reports that my display uses around 90% to 95% of the battery.
display is set to lowest brightness + screen filter.
is that normal? (im guessing it is not).
used dozens of different roms (stock, darky, jims, etc...), same behaviour everywhere.
i already did all the battery stat wiping and whatnot.
is it a faulty battery or display or something?
for the OP, maybe a combination of the above with this could help :

helped me .
edit : to pfannenwender, maybe your unit is faulty?

Sounds normal to me. 10% loss while surfing and 95% display is nothing extraordinary.

Absolutely sudden battery drain-GingerDX

Hello Guys, I'm using GingerDX from months and lately I started getting a strange problem- I go to bed with fully charged phone and in the morning the phone is switched off and when I turn it on it has only 1% battery left. This happened only 3 times-always through the night-one of the times I was even on airplane mode. Beside this- the battery acts pretty normal- 2 to 3 days.I took every popular battery saving measure, by the way and the internet traffic is always off when I don't need it.What this could be?
It happen on all roms, that battery goes down very fast. Like 2% in minute. If you see that, just reboot your phone and problem is solved + stop running services!

Thanks, but I can't see that, since it happens while I'm sleeping.I also have very few services running almost all of the time. And why isn't this happening all the time- I'm using the phone in the same conditions and settings all the time?
if its at 1% and the phone continue work then you might need calibration, but if you are telling that its shut down then might be hardware problem( of your battery)...
but you dont loose anything to go back at stock and see if the problem resist....

It shuts down, because the battery got empty at some moment-I guess this is normal. Then it stays switched off till I awake and notice it,let's say few hours ,and then when I am switching it on- I guess it has enough power just to turn it self on, after which I'm putting in on the charger. And yes- battery is calibrated last time I changed the Rom.

Nexus 6 Restarting and Battery Issues

Hi Guys, I really would like to ask some help with my Nexus 6 in which the battery drains to fast and some message always appearing once I try tuning it on back again.
It all started just last week when i noticed that my battery drains to fast, in which lets say the battery has still 70% of power then when Im about to using, the fone will immediately turn off saying the battery is already 0%. But once I try to charge it, it'll be showing that the battery has still 70% of power. Aside from that, every time Im about to turn it on after the knowing that my phone has still enough battery or once I tried to plug the adaptor. A message will appear stating that "Apps updating 15 of 135" something...
I've tried to reset my phone hoping that something that I've downloaded probably have cause my phone to malfunction, but still no use. The battery is draining too fast and that updating of apps is still showing and it'll take atleast 4X I need to turn on my phone with the charger plugin in order for the phone to turn on properly.
Would anyone might know whats the problem or whats causing my phone to malfunction in that way?

The battery is busted, the same thing happened to me. I had to send the phone back to Motorola and they sent me a refurbished one back and its having the same issue. I'm just giving up on this phone and getting the note 4

It could be updating of apps or system. In that case the message "Apps updating . . ." is normal after reboot.
When you have a slow data connection updating can take a lot of time, including battery drain.
Same problem with my n6. But only in high mountains... No restarts when in airplane mode or without sim card
