Can anyone recommend a good media player for the Kaiser?
I've tried TCPMP which I've never got to play a single file, EVER, and WMP is ok, but not great. I've got some videos from LearnVisualStudio.net in WMV format but I cant play them.
What is the best media player for the Kaiser?
In my opinion, Coreplayer is the best.
It seems odd that you've never managed to get TCPMP to play anything... It's one of the most widely used media players for PPC, because of it's ability to play almost ANY video/music file, and with the settings provided in this thread, you can ensure you have excellent quality too...

Hi, I would like to be able to play OGG media files on my kaiser. I installed TCPMP but when I run it I get an "Unexpected program failure".
Is there any other software one can use, or a way to install the codec so media player can use it?
thanks!
GSPlayer
seems that GS Player was all I could find. It's pretty poor compared to "audio manager" but does the job if necessary.
lol you wont find anything official. When do you ever see Mr Gates wanting to support any form of open source
I use PocketMusic to play my ogg's and mp3's, works great! Not free though..
The Mort Player !!
Ever since I upgraded(yeah right..) to Windows Mobile 6.1 I cant play videos through windows media player. On 6.0 I used to watch MPEG-4, and ASF videos all the time. Since I upgraded though WMP wont play MP4 videos, and ASF playback is so choppy its impossible to watch. What can I do to fix this without installing another media player application?
Custom rom or stock rom?
Carrier branded device, or unlocked htc device?
Edit:
Actually, how about you give us as much details as you can about your device and what you've tried so far
Im using the official Windows 6.1 rom on an ATT Tilt w/o any other apps running. The MPEG files I used to play on my phone before were no longer supported by WMP. I tried re-encoding the files and that didnt work. I tried lowering the quality and that hadnt worked. I searched google and saw that WMP only supported mp3 and ASF files so I encoded the video as an ASF and that worked but playback was extremely choppy. I cant really think of anything else to do so I came on here.

Ok OK....What I want to know is how the hell did you get WMP to play it before????????? WMP doesn't play MP4 never did. Anyway, If you can play the videos you have on the Desktop Windows Media Player, hook up your, open Desktop WMP, hit Sync Tab, Sync your phone(and/or Storage card), select the video to sync list, and sync. Desktop version will convert for mobile version. If you can't play the videos in Desktop Media Player then you'll have convert the video in something it can play. TCPMP and Coreplayer are way better, but I use Media from time to time.

i wish i knew how i got my tilt to play any videos at all. Im 2 seconds away from throwing this peice of sh#$ brick in the trash and getting an Iphone
Which is better Mort player...Nitrogen..Core player... What pro and cons does each have.. Is core player in tcpmp?
Thanks Guys
Let me know
TCPMP is free and does the same job as CorePlayer ... although is not as sleek as the last one, TCPMP can play .avi and most of the formats flawlessly. On the other hand CorePlayer has a lot of other functions (youtube integrated app, support for alot of other formats, better looking and much more user-friendly etc.) so i can say it deserves the money (if u have no problem spending some) and i personally prefer coreplayer. But than again i remind you that the TCPMP does the job right.
Some users reported that CorePlayer sometimes skips frames and the playback is buggy...i didn.t encounter that and most of this happend because of bad playback setup.
Regarding mort player and nitrogen ... i don.t like neither. I prefer PocketMusic Bundle, for mp3 playback, it is in my opinion the best player there is, especially when you use your headphones
PS: the answer is simple: both perform very well, is just a matter of wich one you prefer and of course remember that CorePlayer is not free
i convert to mp4 and watch everything on windows media player mobile because it is the only reliable app that you can use to watch your Raphael on TV with no bugs

HTC Album and Windows Media Player have access to built in hardware accleration of MP4 formatted video. Coreplyer is not match for either of the two aforemention apps regarding MP4.
I still find TCPMP more reliable when streaming video or TV from Orb, better than both WMP and Coreplayer.
I use Coreplayer primarily for XviD/DivX video.

Salut,
Do you have a copy handy?
Mersi
Google up "TCPMP Tech1 PRO7 Digital Play HD StandAlone Version.cab" and give it a shot. It is an excellent media player, and is much better assembled than earlier versions. It plays FLV videos really well.
Thanks
I was asking for PocketMusic actually
Thank you
Which is the best player to watch movies with lots of codecs?
unfortunately we are out of luck...
i have yet to find a player that will play divx .avi files right off the bat.
the work around (that probably works 100% of the time) is converting your video to another format...
never tried it though.
So maybe u can recommend player which u use?
There's an app called xyflash or something similar which will play DivX files but not particularly well yet, still needs optimization.
I'd strongly recommend converting on your PC using DoubleTwist or Handbrake and use the inbuilt video player or Meridian which is an mp3 player which also plays videos but keep in mind that almost every video player available on android at the moment just sits ontop of the inbuilt video player.
Anybody knows about a Media player which can be used as an alternative to the Windows Media player for PPC...
I have tried the TCPMP and Core Player...but both of them are having lags while playing videos...
Well, i think it's time to confirm that the built-in Windows Media Player is still the best Media Player for X1...
Well for music, PocketMusic is the best. Has a lot of options and customizability, and tons of equalizer effects to choose from and doesn't lag at all.
For video, Core Player is probably the best, however it doesn't lag for me at all so it depends on what version you're using. I'm using the latest btw.
Or, you can give SmartMovie player a try. Other than that, TCPMP is the other option which you've already tried.......so ya there aren't much you can choose from for Windows Mobile unfortunately.
Oh and if you want to play .avi videos then try Divx Mobile player too. But that sucks.

you can convert the vidio first to mp4 or to 3gp first with xilisoft or Super converter video... in desktop computer...
yes, but I would also like to do direct streaming from my dreambox to my Xperia, in this case the player should be already installed on the phone...
