Try a hard reset of the device. [Hold down both soft keys, press and release soft reset button, then release soft keys]
If that does not resolve your problem, I would suggest calling AT&T and having your phone replaced.

It seems that with the ATT Tilt, you are not able to do a hard reset using the left and right soft key plus the reset hole. Has anyone figure out how to do a hard reset on the device without using the program in "Settings"->"System"->"Clear Storage" ?
Thanks
-Enter Bootloader mode: Hold Camera + Power buttons together and reset with stylus(thanks pof)
-HardReset: Hold Both soft keys in while pushing in Reset button :When prompted push Green Talk Button to clear data.
This and more located in the upgrades section...
Thanks for the information. I have the information you mention. I have not tried the boot loader mode yet, but the hardreset functionality does not work on the ATT tilt. I've tried it quite a few times, it does not prompt for the erase data, it just did a soft reset and everything comeback normally.
Thanks.
It worked for me...
Make sure you aren't accidentally pressing any other key...
hmm... on the ATT Tilt ?
Yep...
The drone at the store did the customization, which let all of the bloatware install.. The first thing I did when leaving the store was to hold the two buttons in, then push the reset button for about a second or two (while holding down the button), release the reset button, then release the two softkeys.
I then got the white screen asking you to hit send...
Have you looked at the Kaiser Sticky about ALL Kaiser facts? the link is in my sig below but becareful you might learn something!!
When a hard reset is done, does the phone goes to a state when you first got it from ATT with all the programs, games, tools etc installed?
I was able to do it on an ATT Tilt. However, you have to be sure that you are not fat-fingering any other buttons. Also, hold down both softkeys until prompted to press another button.
It works well
I thought my partial ROM flash cooked my AT&T Tilt. The power + camera reset took my phone back into the hardspl screen for updating again. Thanks.
Many thanks for the info! The power/camera/reset did it for me.
Back to original specs.
Now I can upgrade.
The people at the ATT store were clueless.
Go figure!
Afternoon All,
My MDA Vario III keeps making a noise then shutting itself down. It does this several times a day. A real pain im sure you can imagine! Is there a software fix or am I going to have to send it back to T-Mobile for a new one?
Thanks
Jon
Have you tried a hard reset to remove any dodgy applications you may have installed?
If yes then bodge it off to T-Mo.
and how would one perform this hard reset you speak of?
Im a total noob at mobile devices
For all things Kaiser/Tilt/Vario III, check out the Kaiser Wiki link in my signature.
For the hard reset in particular, press and hold both soft keys on the front of the device, and press the reset button with your stylus. Release the reset button, but continue holding the soft keys for another 5 seconds. The screen will display a warning that pressing "Send" will erase all data. Press the Send button. **This will erase all of your data**
Hi I have an ATT Tilt I upgraded to ATT ROM from HTC site and intalled a couple of cab files derectly on the phone (HTC home, cube, etc) afte installing the kaiser music player i did the soft reset as it asked and now the phone is stuck in an infinite reset loop. How can I fix this?
I know the files are godo becaus eI had installed them previously but had to do a hard reset becasue of syncing problems.
THANKS!
i think if you try Holding down the two soft keys, then use the stylus to press the reset button for a few seconds, then release the reset button while still holding in the soft keys. The warning message comes on then use the green send key to initiate the data wipe.
hope this helps

It worked!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. I thought my phone was dead!
I do have another question. If I doo a hard reset and clean off the ATT extra [email protected]* it will not sync with outlook. If I leave the ATT stuff on it does! Why Is this?!?!?!
Hi all,
Ive had me o2 XDA stellar for a few days now. Ive installed a few of the HTC CABs, SCLPC++.
Now the the soft reset on the power button will not work i have to use the reset on the base.
The handset brings up the soft reset dialogue box, and on selecting yes will turn the device off but when turned back on it is locked. The only thing that appears different at this point is my provider connection is lost.
Does anyone know of any cabs which cause this?
Cheers
im new to this so please be simple if you can help. i love my phone and i am really mad i cant get to anything. i would try to hard reset but i cant get to the start menu or anything. ive soft reset on multiple occasions but it does nothing
You don't have to be able to get to the menus to perform a hard reset.
Simply push both soft keys (keys above the 'E' and the mail icon on your pad) while performing a soft reset. You will then be prompted to push the 'Send' key and everything will be restored.
Welcome to XDA
Yeah, you can hard reset using the physical keys. However, the above method has never worked for my ATT Tilt. The method described in the wiki has never worked either. The method I use which works for me, is:
Press the two "-" softkeys on the front of the device while it is off
Then, while still holding the sofkeys on the front, press the stylus into the reset hole on the bottom for at least 3 seconds
While Still holding the two softkeys on the front, press the power button briefly then release it
You may release the softkeys once you see the warning message
Good luck,
Dave
