i just want to know, i purchased a t mobile wing in usa and i want to use the phone in my country, indonesia, how can i use the phone. do i have to unlocked something?
it keep saying "network locked"
.david.
man, have you realised you post in completelly unrelated forum? do a little search.
T-Mobile Wing is not HTC Wings = you have to go to different model forum.
Even though he's in the wrong place we could try to point him in the right direction...
If you bought a T-Mobile Wing then it is most likely locked to T-Mobiles network, I am sure you can go in there and get one of their employees to unlock it or look online for the requirements to unlock it. However since its fairly new the community might not have it cooked up to unlock it yourself, (dont know as I dont have the phone) But it could be a possibility.
Once its unlocked you should be able to just put in your sim and it will run just fine on it. I dont know what the full specs are on it for all the radios but you should at LEAST get full edge on it. Since we dont use the 2100 band for 3g here in the states fully yet it might not have that functionality. Since Tmobile is working on a network for that freq. it might work...
Good luck!

Hello everyone,
I'm thinking to buy an HTC Diamond over eBay, and have question about SM unlocking in my mind:
- Do I need to have a SIM card, which the device currently locked in, to unlock it or is it possible to execute the unlocking software without a SIM card installed?
They usually sell phones re-branded and locked to a specific network, and not every network operator works in my country. For example, if I buy a phone locked to Orange, it will be impossible for me to unlock it, if I need to run the unlocking software while an Orange SIM is inserted.
Thanks in advance.
Well I'm not completely sure that you need the sim to unlock it, but what I am sure about is that if you buy the HTC Diamond (not the T-mobile version, or whatever other carrier offers it) it will come unlocked. HTC simply makes the phones and if you buy one of their versions it will be unlocked as a standard.
Hopefully I helped answered your question instead of wasting time for both of us
every phone i have had to have unlocked can be done without any sim card in it
Thanks for your replies and sorry for a late response.
I have already bought my phone and waiting for its arrival. It is an Orange branded device, which is unlocked with a software obtained from unlock-htc.com, according to the seller. So, my problem with the SIM unlock seems solved
I think the bigger question is, once you get it unlock can it be used with AT&T or T-mobile 3G frequency.

We don't have those network operators here in Turkey. In fact, we don't have any 3G network operator at all
If we think that people are discussing about 4G technologies like LTE in north America and Europe, we can easily say that cellular network providers are evolving very slow in Turkey I don't think I will have problems with our current old school GSM providers with a SIM unlocked device.
I have to wait and see of course, I will let you know the results.
Hi folks. I'm visiting from the CDMA Hero section. My friend has G1 he doesn't need and I want to buy it off him it it can be unlocked and used in Europe (Barcelona and Paris) with something like a prepaid SIM card. As I mentioned, I'm visiting from the CDMA forum-- I've never had a GSM phone and don't know a thing about unlocking.
I've searched the stickied threads and general forum but nothing stood out. This possible? Worth it? I'm no stranger to custom roms or Android.
Please advise. Thanks.
It's possible and very easy, somebody just needs to call T-mobile and request an unlock code. Usually they send it within a week. Please note that you will not get 3G in Europe (99% sure) as they use different frequencies. You will still get the edge network.
It's up to you to decide if it's worth it.
BTW, canadian Dream should do just fine in Europe with 3G (once more, 99% sure)
Good luck.
thanks. that was painless.

Hello! at this moment I'm a tattoo user, but in month or two I'm gonna switch to Nexus...
Probably my phone will be locked on some network, dunno right now. is it posible to unlock the nexus? some of the tattoo users encoutered some problems with the imei generated code. same here or everything is going smooth?
Thank's
nexus is an "unlocked" phone, which will work for any and all gsm operators/networks (except cdma based operators ofcourse),
In case you are interested in rooting, the steps are written all over the site, you can visit www.unlockr.com for more assistance.
thank's for the info! i will ask for more when i'll have it...

While correct, you will need to buy the correct phone if you want to take advantage of the 3G capabilities of your carrier. ATT users should but the ATT version, TMO users should buy the TMO version. It is unlocked, yes, but there is no sense in buying a phone that you will be using primarily on one network if you cant take advantage of the 3G speeds.
I am getting ready to deploy to afghanistan and I wanted to pick up a sim card that would work out there, http://www.telestial.com/view_product.php?ID=LSIM-AF01, seemed like the best bet. It says I need a GSM 900 unlocked cell phone. I know the G1 supports GSM 900, and currently I am running CM4 on it (its old and ive since upgraded phones and switched to verizon.) Is there anything else I would need to do to my g1 to get it working in afghanistan? I cant really test it until I get out there. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
You'll need to get the phone unlocked. Get in contact with T-Mobile and tell them you want to unlock your old out-of-contract phone. If they give you crap then tell them your situation or ask to be put through to a supervisor (or both, but one supervisor threat can go a long way). They'll give instructions on how to get your IMEI number. You give that number to them, they send it to HTC, HTC sends them an unlock code, then T-Mobile to emails the unlock code to you and instructions on how to use it.
Yeah, it's a lot of junk but it's better than spending $30 at a shifty SIM-unlocker website.
You can get the IMEI number ahead of time if you want. Go to the phone app and type in *#06# (no need to press anything, a window will pop up once you type that last #)
OR go to Settings > About Phone > Status and scroll down to IMEI.
Good luck man.

If you're armed forces tell them so, no threats needed all the big players will happily get/give you unlock codes to the brave men and women who are out there. Stay safe.

So I see there is a thread about unlocking your phone in these forums but that says its a GSM unlock. I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to unlocking phones but I know I want to use my sprint M8 on Verizon since I'm switching services.
So my question is, is there any way to unlock my phone to work on the Verizon network? Is that unlocking method make it work on Verizon or just ATT?
Sorry but I am extremely ignorant on the subject and am looking for some info, rather not rebuy my one.

Hi, extremely sorry that no one took the time to respond to this sooner. I believe there is 2 methods to do this, one being a SIM unlock and another being the GSM unlock you mentioned above. To my knowledge GSM unlock is what you want but sadly I don't think there is any 'free' way of doing this. I've never personally GSM unlocked one of my own phones but I have helped a friend do so. Anyways in order to GSM unlock a phone you need a special 'generated' (i think generated) code to input in your phone which will unlock it and allow it to use other carriers besides the one it was made for.
Here is a presumably valid tutorial on how to do this on an HTC One M8.
I would recommend trying freeunlocks.com first, only because I have a coupon from there which i'll gladly give you if you plan on using it. Only reason I have one and or am giving it away is because previously I bought one from there and they didn't have a code at the time so they refunded me and gave me a coupon code to enter if I ever purchased from them again which I most likely won't as I have no need for GSM unlocking, i.e why i'm giving it away. If by some chance freeunlocks does not work then you can try the one in the video or you can look for others.
If you would like to try this and want the coupon for freeunlocks.com then just say so in your response and I'll PM you it. I think its for either a discount or a free code, I don't really remember as this was quite a while ago when I was given it. (around a year)
Goodluck!
I'm just not sure if this would work because I'm trying to go from sprint to verizon, both being CDMA. If I did this would it mean I have to go to ATT?

I don't think so, according to this it should have all the proper bands to support both Sprint & Verizon. On the off hand there is always the chance that this link I just sent is ONLY for the International model and I am wrong which I very well could be. I've had trouble truly understanding if all versions of phones have support for the same bands or if they don't. I'd recommend researching this a bit or waiting until someone else comes along with the proper knowledge to assist you in your question on the radio bands comes along.
Anyways LS;DR, It should work but I may be wrong so do your own research or wait for someone else with the proper knowledge to assist you to come along.
