Hi there,
For some reason the camera button on my kaiser stopped working. whenever I press it I get the message attached. If I start the camera from the programs interface and I use the Dpad button to take the pic everything works all right. Anyone having the same problem, or anyone knows how to fix it?
have you tried reinstalling the camera?
theres a polaris camera cab for the kaiser floating around somewhere
Did you use the camera cab? If you're using a shortcut to control camera by linking it to a button, check the button shortcut properties. Also, this can happen if your device security is on or if you moved the .exe.
First go into settings/buttons & reassign the camera to the correct button. You may want to use the browse function & make sure you assign the .exe in \windows instead of any .lnk shortcuts you may use. Then try re-installing the camera app. if that doesn't work.
Have you checked that the button is still assigned to the camera.
Start>settings>Buttons icon.
If the camera works ok by going to programmes then the camera is fine, it's just the association to the button that's either broken or has been reset by accident or by a new installation.

I feel really stupid! I should have checked what button 4 is atually for. I got confused by the icon of the button, which represents a tape, so I thought that was the recording button.
Thank you for your help!

There are several applications which allows you to remap buttons (AE Button Plus, HButton...). If you dont need more than 6-8 shortcuts you should be fine with this. (I prefer this remapping solution because it doesnt require to keep some program running in RAM)
These shortcuts are basically generic but here's what I've found and tested on Wings.
Code:
Shortcut Current App. Remapping
Long_POC.lnk - OK
Long_End.lnk Lock Not tested
Long_Home.lnk - OK
Long_Send.lnk - OK
Short_POC.lnk CommManager OK
Long_Power.lnk Turn Off OK
Long_Pound.lnk Line Switch ???
Long_VolUp.lnk Voice Dial. OK
Long_Camera.lnk Camera OK
Short_Power.lnk Quick App. OK
Short_Camera.lnk Camera OK
Long_VolDown.lnk Voice Notes OK
Long_NonCamera.lnk ??? ???
Short_NonCamera.lnk ??? ???
(NonCamera = POC on some devices. I dont know why is it on Wings but probably because of generic WM keypad map.)
Code:
Key Name Hardware Button
POC CommManager
End End Call
Home Home
Send Send Call
Power Turn On/Off
VolUp Volume Up/+
Camera Camera
VolDown Volume Down/-
How to use...
1. Create a shortcut of a program
2. Rename the shortcut to the shortcut name of a key you want to asign to (TaskManager.lnk to Long_Home.lnk for example)
3. Copy it to \Windows\ directory
Wow! Awesome! Thanks for shedding light on this!
Tested short_power.lnk successfully.
[ADDITION]
IE button: is PIE.lnk + Short_IE.lnk.
About
If you need turn on WiFi, you have to press at least 4 keys by default to start WiFi (using Comm Manager).
After installation of WirelessToggle, just press and hold Comm Manager button to toggle Wifi (on/off). (Alternatively you can use attached exe and assign WirelessToggle to any button / shortcut you want to).
And as always: There are few more programs that can be used for faster turning on/off WiFi but this keeps the RAM free as much as possible.
Installation:
WirelessToggle.cab - just install
Run WirelessToggle.exe (from \Program Files\smartmadsoft\WirelessToggle) manually (just once) before using the shortcut (otherwise you wont be able to confirm dialog window asking you about running unsigned code)
Download:
WirelessToggle.zip (4 kB)
Support:
Tested only on S730 but it should work on other devices as well (will test it later).
Great work moneytoo!
This is real usefull, thanks for sharing!
does anyone know the WM6.1 connection manager (wireless manager in home screen) file name?
wireless toggle doesn't work for me (wm6.1) it removes all wireless settings from the WM comm manager, and swiches wireless off right after I've enabled it.
i need to look into this, whether it will work on a diamond, cause it's hardware button associations are plain stupid...

What did you find out?
Does it work on your Diamond?
i right clicked on psshutxp.exe and selected create a shortcut.. i renamed file to Long_Power.lnk .. dropped in my windows folder and reset my htc touch pro (cdma) ,,, never asked if i wanted to overwrite anything ...
now when i press down my power button... the same default action happens... it is not running psshutxp....
Remapping headset button?
I'd like to bounce an idea and see if your solution might work for this specific issue.
Seems like the headphone button = green answer button on newer htc systems. If I press the headhpone button twice - I'd like to jump one track forward. Press it three times, I'd like to jump one track back again. Would this be possible to map somehow? That is, multiple key inputs?
Regards.
Has anyone here found a solution for the touch diamond?
Wrong forum m8, this is the Wings smartphone, not the Diamond pocketpc

I know that this is the Wings forum but nevertheless I would like to know if anybody has found a similar mapping functionality for the HD2... I tested several shortcuts but only long_send.ink seems to work.
For Multibuttonmappingwhatsoever I can recommend HButton as it allows to activate different things depending on how long you press the button. Remapping doesnt really work for me after all, nothing happens..
Hi, I want to remmap Home Button in HTC HD2(Leo). But when I search the link, I can't find anything that mention about home.
Any suggestion? Thx..

Oooopss.. Sorry, wrong thread.
I'm just too desperate.
For the HD2 unfortunately only the long_send button seems to work. I tested the others mentioned on the first page of this thread but they did not work - at least not by using shortcuts or reg keys (but I did not test any special software as HButton).
I want to Program Camera Button Half Press to Open SPB MENU(SHELL).... it will help me to use phone using One Hand...
i already searched a lot before posting ... so please dont give me suggestions to search ...
The closest thing i got is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=278390
But I cannot find the files Specified In my Windows Directory... So i think this doesnt Apply too KAISER....
You can differentiate between press & long press only. Not Half Press, only camera has the half press option. The closest thing would be to use AE Button Plus or SPB Pockets Plus & set camera button to camera for press & then select long press for another app.
Yeah But If Camera Application Can Detect it as a button... Then it must have some KEY CODE or Signal its sending... Maybe We dont have Built In Support to Remap this ... But There Must be a Software Way .. or some registry hack to Add this button as a normal Button...
Ppl at XDA forums are amazing... i believe they can do or create anything ... and this seems to be a small thing
I'm interested in remapping the ok button (the one on the side, below the scroll wheel, not the one below the end key) to rotate the screen. However, I can't seem to find out how to do anything at all with this button. Can anyone help?
i'd like this also.
I'm wondering if maybe this has to be done within the registry?
i remember reading in a thread before this that the remapping was not possible for that OK button... but i am not sure i could be wrong
try hbutton. it lets you map about anything to the hard buttons. you can map multiple programs to one button too. i use it to map the OK button to close a program, open htc audio, and screen rotate.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306794
if you are referring to the ok button on the front of the kaiser, i remapped that button to rotate the screen from; settings>buttons. i am, however, using a sim free htc tytnII. this may not be available in the network branded versions. hope this helps.
sorry misread your post, you were talking about the side one. doh! no i couldn't remap that one either.
at this moment no one can really find the registry for that button. people have tried, i read about 3 posts that had people trying and they were unsuccessfull
i am still also interested in getting that button remapped
AE button plus will remap the side button, except if you are on the today screen, where a press of the button will bring up the start menu.
i currently have it to turn off the phone, since i friggin hate how htc made the real power button so flush with the body, so that if i'm on the today screen, i press it twice quickly to power off the device. the first press brings up the start menu, then the second press will take the focus off the today screen and implement your action. likewise, hitting the side button will turn off the phone if i'm in any sort of application or anything non-today screen.
and mapping this buttom also maps the keyboard ok, so now i'm suddenly without a keyboard ok button
What exactly is this Side Ok Button for anyways? It doesnt act as a confirm button
I would also like to remap the OK button to rotate screen. When I am using Garmin I like to have it rotated for cradle and visual purposes.
Also, don't know if anyone ever noticed this. I have polarized sunglasses, and when my phone is facing up and down like in portrait mode it is not as bright as it could be, but i rotate it like it is in landscape mode and I can see perfect with them on. Weird!
Let me know if this doesn't work out. I wrote apps for the Universal once to assign to any key. But that was a long time ago. I'm sure better solutions exist now.

You can do it for sure with SPB Pocket Plus & the Shortcut Add-in/Plugin.
I actually made an action sender for this purpose, for another button, but if I get some time , I'll pull out my old work & look.
But SPB PP does allow it for sure. You can map two of anything to that button, one for press & one for press & hold.
Anything new on this?
I've tried some different things...still nothing.
another bump...
bump it up again...anyone know how to remap the OK button (forget the rotate screen)?
Since the Raphael has a full hardware keyboard, maybe there are shortcuts that we can use with HTC's Camera application? Do you guys know any?
More precisely I'm looking for a shortcut to the function "take the picture" ie autofocus then shot.
Actually is there a dedicated camera button for the Raphael? or is it a "virtual on-screen button" like on the Blackstone?
The goal is to remap one of the (few) Blackstone's hardware button to that shortcut.
pressing and holding the PTT button brings up the camera func. Already covered.
It doesn't work on my fuze.
You can remap the PTT button (on the Fuze) to bring up the camera.

Works for me!

Sorry, there is a bit of miss understanding, I don't want to know which button brings up the camera application; I want to know, if the camera application is already running, how do you "take the picture"? by touching the screen? by pressing a hardware button?
incase you haven't read your manuel since posting this question you press the "enter" button aka that button inside the ring of light

Sorry, I don't have a Raphael, I have a Blackstone.
Anyway I should have read the online manual to know the "standard way" to take the picture, you're right. However what I really want to know is:
Is there any "hidden" (ie not in the manual) keyboard shortcuts (to take the picture) in your Raphael? That is a way to take the picture without pressing the ENTER button of the D-pad.
This thread can be deleted, sorry for bothering.
Is there a cab to have a shortcut to softreset.. shortcut for camera.. or even shutdown..? in Today view or menu
especially im using a cooked rom and have a updated cam on my unit..
anyone...?
Well, i use "SPB Pocket plus" which lets you have lots of shortcuts on the today screen, among the default ones are a button for soft reset, but you can add a camera shortcut from the program files/XperiaCamera folder (or wherever you got your cam-app).
But i also use Smaberg's actionscreen ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=479206 ) which can be activated by holding the power button for 3sec, this action screen got shortcuts to soft reset, power off, wi-fi, bluetooth, camera (need to edit a key in the registry for camera to work, at least i had to) etc.
Both highly recommended applications!
