No contacts displayed. - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Ive a strange issue with my phone. It doesn't display ANY contacts.
My phone is synced with my exchange server which has all my contacts. The phone syncs with no problems.
If I call someone I know is in my contacts using the dialer, it displays their name. So the contacts are stored on my phone, they're just not listed.
Ive tinkered with Schap's Advanced Config Tool and I think this MIGHT be the cause of my problems, but I can't for the life of me see where to put it back.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

Any chance you have it set to store all contacts on your SIM card AND are hiding all SIM contacts via Advanced Config?

Just guessing here -
The Sim card does not hold pictures - only the names and phone numbers.
When you save items to the sim and they are on your phone as well you wll display duplicates.
So - when you add pictures you are actually adding to the PHONE not the SIM so you are duplicating the information - you will want to remove the one on your SIM?
Bill
SIM contacts will ONLY allow the Name and Phone Number thats about it anything else like Photos, addresses, e-mail, etc. can ONLY be done on Phone Contacts, use SIM Manager in your programs and copy all contacts to your phone, if you don't want to see duplicates of contacts, use KaiserTweak or Advanced Configuration and adjust it to NOT show SIM contacts. But remember when a contact is added it will save to your phone not sim so you will need to make sure if you want to keep it you change it in both.

Known Issue: Contacts on SIM and Cyanogen 4.0.4?

I've cleared my contacts a bunch of times (by going into manage applications and clearing them in the app) and reloaded from my SIM card. It seems like each time i come back from my phone sleeping or turning on (i haven't totally figured out the pattern) i'm seeing 6 or 7 copies of the same contact for all of my contacts.
is there any known issue between 4.0.4 and contacts? should i import and then store somewhere else? how to I go about choosing a different place to store them and a different place for my contact app to look for them?
Thanks
DaveKid
Are they coming from google via sync? You can turn contacts sync off, but maybe logging into google http://mail.google.com , clicking on contacts and removing any you don't want from there.
they are all coming off my sim card.
goto my.tmobile.com and make sure your contacts there is empty. Your sim may be syncing with tmo.
no contacts on tmobile except for myfaves.
Got it...needed not only to make sure i didn't have any tmobile contacts but gmail as well. found them all in my gmail account. didn't realize it synced with that by default.

How can i tell where my contacts are saved?

How can i tell where my contacts are saved?
When i first got my phone I synced my phone with my outlook contact on my pc. Now when i want to add a contact using my phone it's asking me if i want to save the contact to either my phone or my sim card. I would like to keep things consistent and save it in the same place as the rest of my contacts. So does anyone know how to find out where my current contacts are saved?
Thanks.

Good questions, I don't have the answer but I'd like to know. I have a similar thread that no one has answered yet.
BTW, when I go to add a new contact I don't get your options!
My choices are:
1. Phone
2. Google mail
That is very strange. I'd like to get SIM card as an option.
If you want to know where your contacts are saved then go to your contacts, click the settings button, go to display options and from there you will be able to select what contacts to view, sim, phone and google. Click on one to view and that way you will know where they are all saved.
No idea why you cant have sim contacts mark, maybe your sim is full??

First of all, if you have your phone set up as I do,
Settings/Wireless Networks/Flight mode, 99% of the time, then you won't see SIM card as an option when you go into Contacts/Settings/Display.
This is one of many deficiencies of the SGS. I hope they change this in the next upgrade.

See above.
Furthermore, having just experimented with the SIM card setting now, it is quite 'limited'. It will only save the name, tel. number and e-mail address of your contacts, nothing else. You lose pics, home addresses, groups, and any other fields that you added etc.
But back to my original question.
How can you find the folder/files that the contacts are stored in on your phone?
Also, if you export your phone contacts to your SD card and then delete your phone contacts, will importing the contacts from your SD card bring EVERYTHING back faithfully? No lost pics, home addresses, groups etc.?
Has anyone here tried this?
TIA

[Q] PARAGON 5.1, Double contacts in messaging...

So my issue is that when i go to messaging and compose new, then select contact it displays double info... and it looks identical(no sim symbl). Have already checked my contact display options. Everything is cool if i just go to contact app... it displays only one set of contacts, the one saved to phone. Can someone please help?
Had the same problem with Stock 2.1
I had this same problem when I first got my phone in November. It was because the contacts were on my sim card and saved to my phone. The display contact info is only for when you are in contacts i think. If you have all of your contacts on your phone I wwould delete them from your sim card or vise versa. Personally I sync everything with google that way I don't have to worry about them being on my phone at all.

Contacts only off of my sim card?

What if I only want to use the contacts off of my sim card and not contacts saved to phone or from my Google account? Is this possible?
Yes, contacts -> display options uncheck google and facebook.
Do I need to "Import from SIM card". With my Vibrant and any other GSM phone I just slide the SIM in and there are my contacts shown off of my SIM. Does stock Android not do this?
I imported my SIM contacts and in display options under Choose contacts to display. Only Google is showing up AND I am showing triple contacts in my phonebook, YES THREE OF EACH CONTACT. What the HECK is going on. A little frustrated with this.

first of all, in contacts under accounts, uncheck sync contacts.
then delete all the phone contacts (you may use mass contact delete app from market).
then import from sim card.
in this way, no repetitions and only sim contacts would be displayed on the phone.
also if you want to manage the contacts on phone and on the sim use "contacts to sim" app from market.
hope it helps.
and also to mange the contacts of your gmail, in pc go to gmail, then on left side, click contacts.
and in options click merge duplicates. it does it.
but again duplicates. lol
so what i did is deleted the gmail contacts and if it again backups i delete again.
hope it helps.
Thanks for your assistance. I just wish that "SIM" would show under "Accounts" just as it does in my Samsung Vibrant.
