Hi all,
due to the fact my provider has now started charging me for accessing voicemails and will not include voicemail access in my inclusive minutes I have turned off the voicemail answerphone on my t-Mobile MDA Vario III (Kaiser), what i'm looking for is a programto run on the PDA that will answer a call after say 45 seconds of ringing and act like an answerphone and record any messages direct to the PDA. I have searched for answerphone but without luck and the only program I can find via Google is iSecretary, but that aparantly isn't fully compatable with the Kaiser?. Has anybody got any ideas as to anything else available that will do this job, preferably free but if I have to pay for the ideal solution so be it.
Thanks

I'm afraid there is no solution, because of the limitations of the Kaiser (and many HTC devices) with the incoming sound.... (mic only)
A workaround should be available in iSecretary, recording loudspeaker -> mic, but this application crashed a lot on my Kaiser so removed it...
Also because it is not a nice solution anyway...everybody can 'enjoy' the voice message.

According to iSecretary the TYTNII is only "half supported" but it looks it would do everything you want.
- lifts the handset automatically when the preset time expires;
- plays the file to the caller;
- records your caller's message within the limits of preset time and hangs up;

I guess i'll have to try isecretary and see if it does enough to get me going, unfortunatly checking voicemail via a landline is not an option in my situation.
Thanks for all the replies so far.

just be prepared.... you will be disappointed...
I did try iSecretary and it worked on some of the calls, about 2 out of the 10 I made to my phone. And like "Optimistisch_nl" said: the callers voice is on loudspeaker while leaving the message. Also the message that I recorded to tell people to leave a message doesn't play either for the caller.
Sorry dude, I'm also still looking for something like this and will let you know if I find a solution.

You won't find a solution unless you buy e.g. a Nokia.....
Guys, ALWAYS check out the Wiki first. I've answered this very question at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...nswering machine for Windows Mobile released!
(also see the group http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Audio and call recording, answering machines )
In a word: no, don't expect much - WinMo is, by default, pretty much useless when it comes to local (!!) nswering machines. Should you really need them, go for Symbian.

I was also told that file sharing on WM is not possible by "CLEVER" people, but hypest told me that by setting up a ftp server on the ppc you could share folders that would be visible and able to be browsed by another ppc. Now if that is not "file sharing" then lets call it "sharing files". It works just the same as normal file sharing on Windows.

Does anyone know of a text to speech software for Windows Mobile 5/6? I'm looking for something that will read e-mail out loud.
Voice Command 1.6 will read email headers.
Thanks. I have VC1.6. I'm looking for something that will read the e-mail body to me while I'm driving.
As a follow up to this, does anyone know of an application to read out text messages whilst driving along? Its not very safe when the popup comes on screen covering up Tomtom.

I saw this one but didn't know if it would read the e-mail from within Outlook or if I had to copy/paste the words into a document. If you still have it installed, could you let me know if you can tell it to read an e-mail from within Outlook? At the very least, open a message when it arrives then this program reads the message after you instruct it to do so?

I had been looking for something like this for some time. Well, thanks to this thread I have downloaded and tried it. Conclusion: very useful, though could be improved.
1. Voice quality is not very good.
2. Reads the emails and very accurate.
3. Functionally quite rich - though I have only tried reading emails as this is what I was after.
However, I havnt figured out how to read emails as and when they arrive. I seems tha I have to start the application to read the emails. If anyone has any ideas, please share them. Thanks

Hey I know this is several years later, but like me I bet your STILL using windows mobile ... so if so.... you need to look at this thread, post 8 in particular. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407630
the xda user posted a link to software (freeware) that will intercept incomming text messages and read them... EXACTLY what you were looking for. Now... if we could only find software that will take dictations and text them up for us freeing us from typing all the time.
Good luck peeps.

i think its the natural lag on windows mobile when theres a call?
so different from my n95..
the lag seems to be the time it takes to initialize the mp3/wma/wav player and then load your ringtone from the storage.
Ya my March 2008 firmware updated Nokia N73 also has this 2-3sec lag.. It annoys me.. i 'miss' few of the missed calls (short ones) given due to this...
I've just increased the time it takes before a call is forwarded to voice mail.
Not ideal but at least I'll have fewer missed calls now.
I even had the same Issue on my Motorola RAZR...

Come on now, of course I know what freakin' phone I'm using. That's like asking someone if they know what kind of car they drive and if they are sure about it.
Here's what you do to enable it:
Settings>Voice Command>
Check 'Enabled'
Check 'Messaging', 'Status' & 'Phone' boxes
The go to 'Notifications' and check 'Announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only'
[/LIST]
Those directions above will read out loud the person calling you when you get a call, the person who sent you a SMS and what the SMS says, will read to you any email including the sender and subject line, but not the email and will also notify you when your battery is gonna die.
Trust me, it's a major attention-getter when your phone reads a text message to you when it comes in and people around you are like wtf was that. Plus it's great if you are lying in bed or something and your phone is across the room...you can hear what the message says and whether or not it's worth getting out of bed for. :-D
But anyway, if anyone knows how to change the voice please respond. Thanks!
Voice Command isn't installed on all Diamonds as standard and as I stated, there is no way to change the voices, I have searched for this myself before with no luck.

You don't have it setup correctly, that's why.
Go into Voice Command and do this:
- Check all the boxes you want to use this service. (Phone, Messaging, Status, Etc.)
- Highlight 'Messaging' then click on 'Options' button then UNCHECK 'High Priority Messages Only' and CHECK 'Announce New Messages'. Do the same steps for others like 'Phone' and 'Status' to change it's options. Make sure you highlight it first.

Hi,
I don't understand why this hasn't cought everybodies attention, but recording a phone call is now possible. Both sides of the conversation are recorded in very good quality. It all seems to be made possible by the ICR (InCall Recording) software from the Touch HD (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=457808) although I can confirm that also my Resco Audio Recorder is now able to record both sides of the conversation in great quality, so it does now automaticly for all my calls.
It's really weird that everyone was under the impression that call recording wasn't possible due to hardware limitations, while all the time we just needed a little piece of software from HTC.
It's just a headsup, if it's common knowledge I'm sorry to have bothered you .
Cheers,
Cacti
I've look through the eniture thread...and there seems to be a lot of different files for different languages and such.
Could you post links directly to the files needed for the Raphael in English?
Thanks!
http://www.sharemobile.ro/file.php?id=281443
Be sure you got PhoneCansas (Slide to Answer/Ignore) installed. Some ROMs have it installed (eg: RomeOS).
You can download it separately: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3124498&postcount=76
After you install ICR restart the device.
Make a call, press Menu and go to latest item in the list "Start recording"..
Then go to the ICR application and press Play (I can't see anything but the previous screen... something is wrong here)
Anyway, unfortunately it doesn't record normally "two ways". It seems that it records only from mic . This means that you hardly can hear the other person if you are'nt using speakerphone.
I have the GSM version of Touch Pro. What about you le_cactus?
It's also part of the recently ripped and posted Sprint Diamond ROM.

I've found another good application.
This is the best app for audio recording so far. Also to hear the otherside talking.

Ok just gave it a try. Only succeeded in recording my own voice during a call. Did'nt record what the other person was saying.
Looked for any settings but didn't find any one. Did you do something special to record both sides ?
Just an FYI, but here in California in the US, both parties must be made aware the call is being recorded and BOTH parties must agree to it, if one party is not made aware or does not agree it is illegal to record. Laws on this vary from state to state.

I download the version available on the link I putted here earlier, seems it's version 1.37 so I expected if it is working with 1.02 to work with 1.37
Maybe is the problem rom related. Tried ICR too and seems some people have nice recording and other don't
How?
Hi,
Thanks for the info. Just what I was looking for. But how...?
Who got it working on their Touch Pro?
How to install, and how to use?
Is it possible to record all calls automatically, and then later decide which to delete (to save memory)?
Sorry if I ask obvious questions, but I went through three threads and it is not clear to me what to install, how, etc.
Thanks for your help.
I ask because I installed
ICR_51spsoft_com.cab
and it installs OK, needed an unrequested restart, further no obvious problems. Doesn't seem to record any side.. Changed settings around to WAV and Card, but no records show up of my test calls.
I also tried:
Noonski-XDA_ICR-VGA-MONX.cab
As found with online with the following discription...
http://www.sharemobile.ro/file.php?id=281443
Filename: Noonski-XDA ICR-VGA-MONX.cab
Filesize: 610.3 KB
Description: ICR (InCall Recording) for HTC Diamond & Touch Pro (VGA). May work on HD too. ICR dumped from a HD ROM.
It installs, doesn't seem to need a restart (did anyway), but when opening the program it doesn't show on screen, except for menu button (bottom left) and OK/close button (top right). I tried a test call anyway, no luck.
This version says to work on Touch Pro.. but not on mine. Yours?
So, any advice?
Hi, Folks,
I'm searching for a software to read the incoming SMS like the Blue&Me® by Fiat/Microsoft do.
I've found this app (TellMeText 1.1.0), but it has only one language (US English), and the language file is compiled with the executable app.
Anyone knows a app to do this function and a way to use the Gabriela Voice (Pt-BR) from iGo or something like this?
Thanks in advanced
If you have Microsoft Voice Command (MSVC) on your phone, you can set it to read incomming text messages, voice announce who is calling, and more Just be sure you really want it to do that before you turn it on.. It can be embarassing when someone TXT's you something questionable when you are in line at the bank or something... There is a feature where it will onyl read it when you have a bluetooth headset connection.. that is what I personally do...
I agree with Teej. I used the free/busy toggle cab to work around this. If I am not at work or somewhere I wouldn't want certain messages read aloud, I leave it free. If at work, I set it to busy. MSVC worked very well for me.
yes, MSVC is good, but reads the msg soooooo fast that you can berly understand what is happening. and the MSVC voice is sooo ennoying.anyway to fix it?

I haven't used it in a while since I am flashing roms constantly, but I know there is a registry hack where you can slow it down. Just Google it or search here. You can also edit voice recognition so that it is easier for it to pick up what you are say. Its a nice program, just very picky about installation and stuff so people don't like to always deal with it.
i just searched it, didnt find anything. prob didnt type the right info in search.
Is it any trouble if you can guide me ot the right path( regarding slowing the voice and voice recognition)
Appreciate it tilt4life2
this in an idea I like the sound of. Have you looked at the complete MSVC guide on this forum? It may hold a referance to the slowing down of the voices. Im guessing searching MSVC guide should find it or it may be linked in the Kaiser Wiki. Good Luck!
There is also TellMeText by Blondiesoft here and it's totally freeware:

It even announces the message before your notification goes off with its regular message tone.

Yes! the Kaiser Tweaks cab has the voice command settings in it. It's generically set to 4. Higher settings speeds the chick up, and lower settings slows her down.
Hope this helps.
You can search for Kaiser Tweaks in here to get the cab.

To change the voice's speed:
Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Speech\Voices"
Change the value of "DefaultTTSRate" from between 1 (slowest) and 10 (fastest). Default is 4. Experiment to discover what is right for you.
