Hey guys ... I am trying to get as many as 50-60 (minimum )
cars Different models of cars and the relationship the owners had with them..but in the shortest time possible..... i am tying analyzing a mobile social network... of great to worst experiences...
Any specs. are welcome.. But I'm willing to hear from you guy... my first car was a used one.... of course that was quite a while so fairer to say my dad's car... oh that baby carried a mustang look teal white and revved like a monster... but that was then.... it had it days... good "OLD" days .
That baby was more of a work horse for the little family of 4 and went out of existence before my little bro could of known... what good old days with faithful car ...i 'm actually trying to remember the model and Maker... but i'll have to check the "remnants later" yep its where it was and still is..... except for the interior... !$&*!^@%*!^(#%(!#7% .....

Opel Kadett coupé 1969...
lots of adventures...
great time spent with that machine...
A very lovely Mercedez-Benz SL.
BTW, the great ride was 2 years older than I was.
first car
got my 1st car when i turned 18, my dad gave me his maroon 1980 toyota corona 2-door sedan, 18R engine. took out the rear seats and installed 2 15" subs and 2 10" subs, 2 amps, 1x-over, a pair of tweets and mids, lowered the ride by 3" put sparco bucket seats, steering wheel and foot pedals. after 3years i had an engine swap, put in a 3T-GTE engine, HKS blow off valve, crane cams ignition amplifier or something with timing retard, autometer tach and boost gauge, rear disk brakes with anti-sway bar, 4-link, LSD. upgraded my exhaust to 2.5" piping, front upper strut bar, KYB adjustable ride shocks, 12disc cd-changer, C's short shift, & HKS manual boost controller. thats back in 1995-96
got my 1st brand new car in 1998, honda civic EK body(4door sedan) installed 15" spoon mags, spoon(lugs, front upper strut bar, rear upper strut bar, rear lower strut bar, magnetic oil drain, radiator cap, oil cap, racing side view mirror, tow hook, N1 exhaust full kit, racing shocks, lowering springs) rear disc brakes, anti-sway bar, type R front grill, front and rear type R emblems, goodridge stainless steel braided brake hose. after 3years i had an engine swap, put in a B18c spoon engine and tranny. then after using it for 2years i had an engine swap again, i installed B16A with type R tranny(with spoon lighten flywheel and racing clutch).
I bought a Renault Dauphine when I was 18. I paid £17 for it and it lasted me 2 years with nothing going wrong, until I turned it over on its side. Don't think I'll ever get a bargain like that again.
Volvo 245 StationWagon -87, greatest ever tank on wheels . Would take me everywhere, even into terrain... can't beat that! Loved that car dearly. RIP.
06 Mustang GT
1986 Mercury Sable LS. Most people didn't think it was a "cool" kid's car, but I loved it. I thought it looked really modern for an 80's car, the all-across headlight looked very high-tech to me, it had power windows/locks/seats/antenna, digital dash w/bargraph tach, digital auto climate control, keypad on the door, auto headlights, auto locks, and heated windshield. It was a perfect car for a gadget geek like me. I might still even have it for sentimental reasons if it didn't get totaled when I was 17.
1st Car
1991 Honda CRX Si.
i loved it so much. it handles like a true champ.
after i swaped the engine (b16a1) and modified the suspension that was it. true race car. i recommend it to anybody.
1963 VW Beetle - converted into a "BAJA" style
(Sheds a tear ) I still miss that car !!!!!
1980 Buick Century. White exterior, blue vinyl interior. The thing was gigantic and had 180,000 miles on it. I painted "USS Iowa" on the top of the windshield. I remember taking turns too fast (16 year old driver) and watching my freinds flying across the 4.5 foot wide bucket seats in front and back. That car never did go faster than about 40mph and you could practically watch the gas guage drop while you drove it. My stepdad bought it for me for $500. My sister actually stole it from me and blew out the engine trying to take it on the highway. Drove it around wtih a bent rod for about a week before it gave up the ghost. Helluva car
86 mazda b2000 std cab shortbed pickup. shaved and on airride laying frame front to back, built to rail. chrome 1 piece grille and toyota 4wd triple show chrome bumper with billet grille.
My first car, Still have it, Still in love with it..
It's a BMW 7 series. 445 BHP and 0 to 60 MPH in 5.6 seconds.

Next to my car is a Toyota, wich is my wifes and next to that is my second car, A Mini Cooper S
I got a hand me down Toyota Corolla, 1978 Model, I had to repaint it, do some carpeting, and some cleaning and tune-up. It was cool to drive your own car in college, cause I dont have a license yet when I was in high school, That car is very memorable as I drive faster, theres a time that it will wiggle, caused by the mis alignment of the wheels. it was quite a nerve racking car for 1st time passengers. It served its purpose for me, and had lots of fun memories.

So wanted to find a car mount that would work with my nook color now that I have navigation thanks to all the great devs!
Searched amazon for mounts that would work with the galaxy tab and a few other products and found an arkon mount (amazon link)
It is pretty sturdy, holds to the windshield really tight. I have had arkon mounts in the past for things such as my palm and they have great customer service and a good product.
It comes with 6 of the little feet that hold to the edges of the nook. Using all 4 "short" ones, the nook fits but its quite tight and the spring loaded size mechanism is at the total end. Arkon includes two extra feet that have a little bit of an extension on them and these are the ones I used as it is now easier to get the nook out of the mount.
Here are a few pictures of it in my car. Haha yes, I am aiming at my house....

Thank you! I have been looking for a mount for an android-powered device for forever (nobody really makes a great one for my incredible). Bought and shipped this morning!
on a side note, does your gps speech cut off the last half second (usually truncating words like "street" at the end)?
Cool, thanks for sharing that info. =)

omg sweet ordering one now!!
How do you even see to drive LOL... Kinda big to be blocking the middle of the windshield. =)
Thanks for this!! Great find. It's being shipped as we speak. Arkon is quality stuff, I have a few of their foldable e-reader stands and have had mounts for phones in the past. Still goin strong!
Personally I'm less thrilled with Arkon, specifically their customer service. I tried to get a replacement part for one of their mounts. Was promised a replacement would be shipped twice. Nothing ever received. Moved on to a ProClip and haven't looked back.

I was just thinking the same thing, talk about disrupting your vision!
I wonder if you could match it with one of the sticky pads like on the other car mounts and use it on the center console...
*Edit* Looks like it comes with a disc for sticking it to another surface. I'd be curious if it could hold the weight very well....
It does come with that flat piece of plastic so you can mount it elsewhere.

Those sticky pads are not going to hold this much weight for very long. The heat of the summer will slide the glue right off. Had this happen on my Garmin and its alot smaller! I thinking about a flex tripod, modified into a cupholder mount.
I've almost lost a Garmin GPS out the passenger window on a turn one time when the windshield suction cup failed. It went flying across the dash and barely stayed in the car. Be careful...

Ditto. I've had a Garmin and one other suction cup both let go at inopportune times. The was holding a small GPS or phone. I can't imagine it working well with something the size of a NC. But as long as it works for you.
So I applied to a bunch of jobs at this pharmaceutical company (I have a BS in biochemistry, worked in a pharmacy lab in college, and did one year of grad school in pharmacy, I hope they don't probe as to why I didn't finish.. another story), they emailed me back asking me to interview with a job recruiter.
Anyways, I have never really needed a suit before, or really any fancy clothes, I have a suit jacket that I wore to a few funerals but in my opinion it really doesn't look that good, not for a job interview.
Its hard for me to find a nice dress shirt since I apparently have a thick neck (even though my hands are the size of a teenage girls) and shorter arms, I have a nice white shirt but can't button the top button without being choked, I have another shirt that fits but it has more of a rough cotton t-shirt look, not that shinier fancy look.
I just bought a pair of nice black pants since my old ones didn't fit, and I have a pair of black Payless dress shoes that aren't amazing but always worn them to dress occasions. I also have some solid color ties to wear.
So I'm wondering if I can get away without wearing a full blown suit to this interview position?
I'm thinking I should get a well fitting white shirt, the shinier kind instead of my plain white one. My shoes are good enough, shiny, dressy, about to polish them...
I just really can't afford a full blown suit right now, I don't know how any unemployed college grad can afford a $300 suit then pay to get it tailored, I can barely buy dress pants. If I was more confident I'd be hired I would borrow the money but to say the least my background check is going to show a terrible credit record which might screw me.
I really don't even know what a suit consists of when you buy it, I mean if I have a dress shirt, tie, pants, shoes don't I just need a suit jacket? Do you need that vest? I assume when you get a full suit it comes with matching pants for the jacket... I never knew the difference between a suit jacket, blazer, sports coat.. they all look similar
A cheap fix for the neck problem and dress shirt. JC Penny's and most haberdasheries carry a button extender for the top button. Only a couple of bucks. It will allow you to button the top button for wearing a tie. Just keep the tie snug and no one will see that you have a little extra room in the collar.
Here is a pic of a button extender.

No to the vest. No one wears them. They will make fun of you.
A suit is preferred. A suit jacket with non matching pants is a little casual imho for a job interview for a professional position. Do you have any friends that you can borrow a suit from? Worst comes to worst, you can pick up a cheap suit that doesn't really look cheap from places like Men's Warehouse for a little over $100. Tailoring is not that much. If you go to a place like JC Penny's, I think the tailoring is included. But you can probably find something off the rack for a little over $100. Just make sure what you get, if you do, that it doesn't look cheap.
This should suffice.
Don't forget the cane and pocket watch.
You have the right idea.
Simply put: Dress Pants, Dress Shirt, A tie, Well polished shoes - no laces if you can, A nice belt. Everything nicely ironed and clean.
It doesn't have to be expensive - just has to look good. In Canada there's a place called Stockholme and Designer's Depot and everything is at an awesome price. You should just drop by a mall, and just shop around - tell them the look (and occasion) and price range. You will almost always find something.
But once you look nice and clean - you're good to go.
Good luck.
-Richard
Honestly, it might be worthwhile for you to get a suit. One, the impression will be a positive, and two, if you're working an office or sales position that's likely close to how you'll have to dress anyway if you get the job.
I say cosplay and hope s/he is a nerd, lol jk. At the very least khakis with a button down shirt tucked in. Ideally though dress pants, dress shirt w/ tie & dress shoes. I recently had to buy just such an outfit for my cousins wedding and I noticed something: Kohls here in Bama has a very limited selection and only name brand expensive items, but the Kohls in the Chicago suburbs had a HUGE selection without the tags and expensive prices. I was able to get a whole outfit for $130, and it is very nice and good quality. So I guess the bigger the city the better off you will be.
I have a Sprint Note 2 and would like to mount in in my Dodge Dakota Quad cab so i can record while i drive, is there a mount that can do that? I just want to record a few short videos and would rather not have a tripod in the back, and moves too much when the truck "drifts and slides" when i want it too. Thanks all, ps hopefully under $40 ish?

No its not a SRT i wish i had one, it was a factory v6 truck but since i bought it i swapped a 360 ci with aluminum heads, ported intake and headers. New tune for 93 octane, also the trans has a trans go shift kit, rear end was rebuilt with 3.55 gears and a eaton locker. Lets just say leaving my high school i like to go fast what student wouldnt leave school when the bell rings and leave a few black marks? Haha i miss those days.

I picked one up and it's awesome for the Note2. The suction cup is the strongest one I've ever seen and I don't think it'll ever fall off.
I just got am Arkon from EBay.
Mounts right onto the windshield and holds my phone like a boss.
Have the auxiliary cable hooked up. Plays all my music, can hear calls over my car speakers, use s voice to function everything hands free.
All with the phone being directly to the right of my eye vision.
Great mount. I've had 4 others and the Arkon is the best.

I've used the Arkon ones before and before getting the Note2, I was using one, but that one blocks the camera, so if you wanted to use a dash cam program, it wouldn't work.
Got the IBolt and works great. There is a included usb plug which is semi flexible that sits right where it needs to be plugged in which automatically puts the phone in dock mode. They say they are sending out a replacement plug for free which will split and include audio out and usb charging. You can record video there is nothing blocking the camera. It can be used with a case.

If you're recording you might like Torque app. Can do pretty cool screen overlays with speed etc. You can even link it to a cheap odb2 adapter to get engine data overlays
That looks nice.
I bought a Lottie and you are right the suction cup will not let go, trust me i tried ( was wet and slightly drifted a off ramp XD, but wasnt recording ) I have the Torque app and use it sometimes, i love it but i have a little box thing, dont remember the name, but it tell me my trans temp, volts, etc anything i love it. Thanks for the replys everyone!

"little box thing" -> ELM 327 OBD2 bluetoth scan tool I got that along with Torque Pro. Hardly use it, but still think it's an awesome tool to get every bit of info about your car!
Should be getting iOttie sometime next week, and will review it. Once that review is done and posted, I will do face-off comparison between Arkon, Exogear, and iOttie - all three have similar mounts with gel-base suction cup that kicks arse, while phone holder part is different.
i couldnt find anything that would look decent, so i made mine:

Wow. My first car was a Geo Metro....
I ordered a 17 dollar Arkon.
Mounts directly to my windshield, holds this giant phone like a champ.
Got the AV hookes up, can hear phone calls, gps, music all through the car speakers.
Which is also my first car, a 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS.

'82 Chevette haha. So mine was older but you still got me beat for honest humble beginnings. A Chevette has *4* cylinders! Hehehe

I have reviewed Arkon and Exogear already, but after I just got iOttie - that one is clearly a winner for my needs. All three have a great gel base suction cup, but only iOttie offers true one hand operation. Arkon's advantage that it can hold either Note 2 or Nexus 7 (7" tablet). Exogear can hold any phone in width up to Note 2, more universal and less obstructive if you want to use it as dash camera. So each one has it's own advantages and disadvantages (I wish iOttie would use universal ball joint connection). But since my highest priority is one hand operation - IOttie wins in that department. I will post a detailed review and will probably make another face-off comparison thread between all 3.

Mine only had 3!!! It even had a "turbo boost" button, most people call it the AC button though. Now we're rocking a 2004 Honda Element that's driven from Kenai Alaska to Cocoa Beach Florida, and a 2012 Nissan Juke. Huuuuge upgrades! :good:

Careful with the sticky suction cups! I wanted to move mine from one car to another and the sticky jell crap stretched and tore on me. It won't stick to anything now. :crying: I'll stick with my Ram Mount equipment from now on. It costs a little more, but worth it in my opinion.
Got this idea from another guy (steveelliss99) over at Oculus Forum then put my own spin on it. Pretty simple and can probably use parts you have laying around the house:
1) Need a Moga Controller to power the fan (or one that has full USB out power port).
2) 80mm case fan.
3) USB cable.
4) Wire connectors (crimp style).
5) Pliers.
6) Double sided velcro tape.
7) Extra battery back for N4 (I just stopped by Sprint store and said I lost mine. They had an extra in the back and gave it to me). If you use a case with your phone, you probably don't even need an extra back as you don't need one with the case on.
So anyway, they do make USB 80mm case fans but in case you don't have one and you have a normal one laying about, cut off the connector and expose the wires on only the red and black. Trim back any others. Do the same with a USB cable retaining the large male end. Using wire connectors (crimp style for snug connection since these wires are very thin), connect red to red and black to black. Once done wrap electrical tape around your entire connection.
Now cut 4 small velcro tape squares and place one on each corner of the 80 mm fan so that the air blows against the back on your N4 battery cover. Stick fan to cover.
Now just plug the USB cable into your Moga and game away. You can game for hours and phone will remain nice and cool with no warnings or shut downs.
** The guy at Oculus actually cut a hole in the GVR cover and attached his fan with screws. I didn't want to go that extreme so I did the velcro thing.

Good luck. Here's the original Oculus Forum thread if you wish to see the other mod (hat tip to steveelliss99).

Been using this for a few days now and it continues to perform perfectly. Haven't had a single cool down warning and phone remains cool to the touch after long gaming sessions. Obviously better for the phone. I use the Samsung Flip Cover as my case so when I'm done using the GVR I simply pop the "fan back" off and the Flip Cover on and good to go.
Anyway, if you have the Moga Controller (got mine on sale at BestBuy for $24) this is a solution that really works.
Looks like only 60mm x 10mm will fit under hood.
Hard to tell without actually trying it, but looks like a 60mm x 10mm sleeved fan might barely fit under the GVR hood. If you went sleeveless would probably fit even better. Just a thin heavy duty mounting square in the middle to attach it. Would be close though.

Seems that no one sells a 10mm thick USB fan. If you don't like splicing wires you can get this adapter at Amazon, although for a piece of wire, $19 plus shipping seems crazy high.

But then everyone would be intimidated by my physical beauty and I'm hated enough as it is.
* You'll look only slightly dumber than you look wearing the damned thing anyway.
We won't see much of your face since you have an 8 foot fan hanging in front of it

80mm. Only missed it by 7 3/4 feet.
As many have mentioned here my thought processes are not typical. While most users are concerned with how cool they look wearing their Gear VR, I'm motivated by not melting my $800 phone. Freaky.
If you got a 60mm x 10mm fan you could actually place it under the Gear VR cover and solve the problem "invisibly".
Was only kidding about the 8 feet obv.
I like that you are at least trying alternative solutions. But I seem to recall another thread somewhere saying that an external fan did not influence overheating time. Let me try and dig it up ...

Not sure where I thought I read that, but now I'm reading the opposite Many threads reporting that even a fan in the room helps.
I knew you were kidding bro. Yeah this solution wont make fashion week but it does work. Cool breeze is nice too.
This is working for me. I took a fan from my old Google tv. It has a cowl that forces the air down. Epoxied it to a rechargeable battery pack with Switch. Added Velcro to the battery pack and Gear VR cover. Air is forced down into opening of cover.

You guys did see my cooling fan and battery packs months ago right?
Which moga controller do i need? Amazon has the old basic one for less than 12 bucks. Does that one work?

Get the moga pro so it has A and B switch. Less problems.
VR Headset Fan Mod
I used the 80mm fan with usb connection and bought a $5 2600mla power bank battery charger from ebay, I connected the battery to one of the VR head straps, works perfect and keeps my phone cool for hours, even screen casting and heavy gaming didn't get it hot, thanks so much for this mod idea. I have pics below on how the set up looks.
