So I always try to download large emails or file from PIE/Poutlook and the file starts downloading very fast, then nothing. It just stops downloading. Any ideas why ?
I have a fairly new duttys 6.1/ not the new one but the one before.
I've noticed this as well but have not found a fix for it. Whenever i try to download a ROM or Radio from here it stops downloading part way through.
I'd love to see if anybody has any experience with this problem.
I'm not saying that it happens from this site. For instance. I use my tilt to download that warcraft port, it stops at about 1/4 way in. The first 1/4 goes fast though, after that it can sit for a day and go nowhere. This of course happens on all larger files, not just this particular one.
Yeah, thats the same. I mean when i click a link to go outside of XDA (i.e. roms etc) that it quits shortly into the download. It seems to have happened with dutty's newer ROMS b/c i used to be able to.
i have occasionally downloaded a rom or two using pie and i noticed this.........the download progress bar stops moving, but i think the download is still continuing, cause eventually it finished, and file extracted fine, with no problems
Well I've let some 900k files transfer for hours, how long did you have to wait?
It happens to me to with the first download PIE has to do. I stop the download and try it again. The second time it works without problems.
I've been having download issues using Newsbreak an RSS reader. I have a dozen or so podcasts I normally download and lately they get stuck, consistently stuck

are you on ATT? I have an old cingular branded simcard.. what about you? I am lucky i have a friend with a Tilt.. i have taken his att branded simcard and inserted it into my phone, tested some downloads they appears to be working fine and sure enough my card in his phone is producing the same results I had.. INCOMPLETE DOWNLOADS..
now either its my sim card, or something is screwy with my account. I am trying to scam ATT, i have a unlimited smartphone data plan from an old phone that I quietly moved to my pocketpc. I'm hoping it's the OLDER sim card that is affecting me.
post any info if you can.

I am having the same problem since upgraded to Dutty's jun 7th rom. I know it is different from yours. I thought I was just special in having this problem. I don't see how it is the sim card that is the problem. I have the newest at&t sim card and have the problem.
Only since installing this rom have I had any problems. But I am signed up for the 15.00 dollar media net though.
I never use PIE, but it happens all the time in Opera 9.5 built 1184(I think). I just assumed it was an Opera 9.5 issue as I upgraded to Dutty's rom and Opera 9.5 on the same day. Before that I was using Mobile Vista with Opera 8.65.

Well that was ages ago I did swap my SIM card and since then have switched roms 10 or more times.. and still the same problem
It's very strange tho, I can get email attachments just fine. But if I try to do a download of an .mp3 or .cab or pretty much anything, I get the same results as you posted below. It' gets a certain portion of the download then stops never to restart.

Would like to get this resolved..
Same problem, but it also happens when I'm tethering to a PC (Vista). It's really apparent in youtube - it downloads 5-10 seconds ahead really fast, then just stops and as soon as player reaches that point, it just keeps trying to load movie further, and can't. If I manually move the slider forward, it will download 5-10 seconds, then stop again. It's 100% consistent.
Not sure if I should try switching back to Dutty's April rom (6.0) from my current 6.1

I've noticed recently the same thing, and I suspect it's Cingular. Anyone not using Cingular in this thread seeing it?
I also noticed that EDGE was really slow last week but that seems to have gone away.
If I switch to WiFi, no problems. And given the number of people mentioning this, I seriously doubt it's hardware/rom/etc.. I'm using the AT&T stock rom and radio.

well this is my experience, mind you I have att with the cheap medianet settings too. When my file downloading would stop id X(close) the pie window and you restart it it asks if you want to resume downloading. though this works, as time went on it seemed that the problem got worse. (id be resetting sometimes 10 times on a 4mb file) And then I wanted to download some larger files 300mb+ and didnt want to deal with this problem i noticed settings or different roms didnt help. So I moved my storage card to the computer and formatted my card 32k clusters with memmaid. now it seemed that i did have a corrupt file because this one music track would not erase easily i needed some program to get rid of it. after the card was formatted I put all my files back on it and I have not had a problem since. hope this helps some of you. also whenever you download something go to start\system\memory\storage card and you can easily see how much has transferred and how fast its transferring.

ive made a simple patch for the blue angel running windows mobile 5 where we got the error connection loss after loading any more than 200kb.
The patch I have made sorts this problem and one page for example that I now know that loads and didnt used to is Ebay, and buzzdev.
Simply insert this into the registry of the blueangel,, only for Windows Mobile 5.0.
U MUST let the registry flush before reseting the device. To do this press the power button to turn device off, wait 15 secs, turn back on and then soft reset.

Hmm... weird... first time I installed WM5: I had nooooooooo problmes using PIE with WiFi and "big" sites. Now, on my 2nd try with WM5 I have those problems.
I'll try the patch later and write down what's going on.
Heres another patch which is slightly updated, v1.2. It has the following changes:
1. Makes pages load faster having more connections per server.
2. The timeout time has been increased so that the page will load for longer and wait for the page to fully load before displaying the connection lost error.
3. Cache of ssl pages has been disabled.

That's the crazy thing: first time I installed WM5 on my PH20B1 BA, I had no problems with eBay and other much bigger sites... then I went back because of the performance to WM2003SE, had there the phone problem and several others, so I switched again to WM5 and NOW I have those problems with the PIE... First time I had the v1 WM5 and now the "v3" - that's the only difference. However, I'll try out that patch.

Just loaded ebay.com with the craddle connection and didn't have any problem.. I used WiFi with other sites and never saw that problem... Tomorrow i can try loading it at a wifi connection
OK, I just tested. eBay works with the cradle, but not with WiFi.
I tested it over wifi and works fine.
No patch applied (only the 1st patched rom version)
I still can't see the buttons.. I guess we need the Hima's IE Registry

i have my xda2i and tt5 installed, and it runce nicely for an undetrmined amount of time then decides to close tomtom, i can reopen it and carry on but alas it keeps doing the same.
when i start tt5 i get the hands logo on the bottom bar apear but after every crash it seems to move along.

my old tt3 works flawlesly.
Firstly, make sure your using version 5.10, theres a small patch from the website that takes it from 5 to 5.10.
Second, consider it might be your SD card, slow older SD cards tend to make the device hang and/or slow down, which is a problem with the radio (mobile signal) and the SD card interface.
Cards above 80x speed generally work flawlessly.
Third try just a full re-install of the TT5 software, there might have been an error whilst installing thats causing it to crash.
i havent tried the update and i dont know what speed my card is, its the same card i used tomtom 5 with flawlessly in my old pda (loox600).
I'll try the update and see what happens.

Use the poi.dat from tt3.
I had a problem with the new rom where it crashed from time to time & also i couldn't nav to the poi without it crashing.
I used the poi.dat & i can now nav. it doesn't let me call the poi but it might solve your problem.
yay! when i used the tt5 poi and navigate to, it gave me the categories but no destinations when selected then would promptly crash, i put the tt3 poi.dat in and it will now searcha and nav to without crashing. will take her out on the road tonight and if i can get to my mums and back then alls well.
was a pain cos i went to newcastle a month ago (375mile) and it just kept crashing, i had to run it in guidance mode (no map, poi) so it must be the poi then cos it didnt crash like that.
will let you know my findings then you have a definitive answer for all you out there with the same issue.

ok, it dont crash now but it's so much slower in refreshing the map, about half the speed it was.
has anyone got an unaltered tt5 pio.dat file they can upload for me to try, i'm wondering if its happened when i used my free trial of tt plus and added thier speed camera databases. i could reinstall the maps but i'm nowhere near the orginal disk at the moment as its at work and i'm 'ill'.
I have a tomtom mobile pio which worked for a while then crashes, and have somone sending me a few different TT Go pio.dat's. worth testing them all.

You need to uncheck all the POIs you don't want to see on the map, that is what is slowing it down.
i activated the tt plus trial on the website for a month and grabbed all the extras, although i use pocketgpsworld.com for my speed camera databases.
I have all the poi deactivated already.
will try this poi.dat and keep you all posted as i know others with the same issues as i'm having.
i've tried a working 5 & it crashes but mine works fine with the 3 one. you could always delete all poi.dat & see if it is faster.
its still dying, with all tt pio.dat files. pain in the bottom, someone else on here has mentioned they have fixed this issue. grr
Is your copy a proper license? I used to use a pirate copy before I deceided to use the real thing. The pirate copy crashed all the time as you explained but the real copy wotks just fine.

been using tt since version 2 and have had bothe mobile versions on a nokia.
if your sd card is not a 80x speed it will crash all the time ,have you tried a transend 80x card as it has been established to work well and isn't that expensive
I'm using a kingston elite pro (50X) SD Card with tomtom 5.10 with ALL the POI's checked and ALL the pocketgps.co.uk speed camera datebase POI's checked with alerts for the speed camera's and i have never had a lockup whilst driving using tomtom.
Maybe try hard-resetting your XDAIIi and installing everything manually NOT using sprite. That's what i did and my tomtom seems to work flawlessly.
What bluetooth gps are you using?
ive tried hard reset a few time, even only with tt on it. no luck.
i'm not sure what speed my card is, but looks like this is most probably the cause then, matter of finding some cash then i think, or getting just a small 128 80x to stuff it on for when i need it.

Yes, bearing in mind i have a soley-devoted kingston elite pro 512mb just for the GB Plus map and the French map.
Perhaps if you get rid of all the other stuff from the card by formatting it in a card reader, try using "media recover" search around for it on google as it will wipe the card clean, this takes a while, but it will restore your card to it's original condition when you first bought it.
Then for the formatting, try reading this post i posted ages ago...

Format your card this way to produce the best read/write times.
Now put all your data back onto your card, just copy then paste the files from your pc to your sd card. This will produce no fragmetation therefor your XDAIIi will not have to search around for the desired data on the card.
Give this a go and post your outcomes.
yay, i found a apprently modified ttn.cab file through file share, installed it to my xda, it downgraded me from 5.1 to 5.0 but hasnt crashed or paused since, although ive only tried it locally, it seems fine, trying to find the time to take it 50 miles+ and see if it works

New XDA2i - TomTom 5.10 crash/freezing....
Hi all!
I got my new XDA2i through insurance after my 1st one's screen smashed. Installed all my apps etc including the TomTom 5.1 update andddddd it freezes every so often again ! dammm!
So, I double checked everything, all ok, the only thing I can think of is that the newer ROM this handset has is the cause of the lockups again.
I've looked through the postings on this topic and see slightly different versions on the radio version, protocol version etc.
This new XDA2i (I havent changed the ROM) is
ROM - 1.11.00 WWE
ROM Date - 01/27/05
Radio Version - 1.00.00
Protocol Version - 1337.39
EXTROM version - 1.11.162 WWE
Is it possible that some of these versions are known to cause a problem even with the updated 5.1? ( by the way I have the special Bakonl update )
I use a Sandisk 1GB Card (normal speed), the TomTom silver BT GPS unit.
Interestingly, my brothers 'spare' XDA2s with this setup works flawlessly, so I know my install, SD card, GPS all work fine.
Any ideas guys? how do I update say just the radio version? or protocol version? so that my version match another user's version which are working with TT5.1 ?
I was really looking forward to getting GPS all working again as I've missed it these last 2 months ! and now it's doing that annoying freezing again!

I have my Tilt (thankfully got the defective one replaced!) and I set it up to sync with my exchange 2007 server which should be push e-mail. In fact I know it is....
On the AT&T stock rom, it stays connected 24/7, never goes offline which is what it's supposed to do.
I get home, flash on the HTC ROM. Set up the partnership with my server, and I look, an hour later it's offline, showing last synchronized 45 minutes ago. I hit sync, it syncs, stays online for maybe ten minutes, then the same thing.
I've tried every cooked ROM too, same deal.
When I do manually sync, it doesnt try to connect to the network, it's already connected. I was wondering if the network settings may need to be tweaked...?
I've already tried adding an exclusive in task manager for activesync.
I'm using a Tilt and on AT&T.
I'm really going to be upset if Im locked to the AT&T rom just because the other ROMS dont handle active sync properly...and I can't beleive that the stock HTC rom has a problem like this...so I'm wondering if the network wizard may not be entering all of the proper settings...
Oh, and as a side note, this is my second Tilt, the first was defective, it it exhibited the exact same behavior. AT&T ROM stays connected properly, non-stock ROM disconnects....
Any advise? I dont want to be stuck with AT&T!

I had my phone disconnectng from active sync. It didnt bother me in the least because I'm not updating my phone but maybe once a day, i really dont care if it disconnects every 15 minutes. After I found out it was my USB hub, it's worked perfectly ever since. And I never once blamed the phone.

Exchange 2007 is supposed to remain totally connected 24/7....and it isnt. And Ive been able to recreate the problem on two separate devices....

You must admit - this statement boggles the mind. You expect AT&T to replace a device because it only works right on their network with the software they shipped on it? Umm, that's their whole EXCUSE for shipping custom ROMs and you're busily proving them right....
It's obviously too late to ask you not to return a hacked device as "defective" and f$ck it all up for the rest of us, but please don't do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your actual question would probably better be phrased as "Anyone on AT&T managing to keep ActiveSync continuously connected to Exchange 2007 with non-AT&T ROM?"
Not at all...I actually had a boat of other problems with my first Tilt..I did not in any way return it because of this problem...
Im not daft...I would never go back to AT&T and ask them to replace something because I monkeyed with it and broke it...
My scroll wheel stopped working along with my GPS....which is why I returned it...after restoring the AT&T ROM back onto it.
So...I will just drop this since it seems as if nobody actually can listen to my problem and offer up solutions,but would rather take potshots at their impressions of my behavior.

No offense, but if you write more clearly you will be misunderstood less.
the first was defective, it it exhibited the exact same behavior doesn't read many other ways than "I returned the last one for this problem".
i gave you a suggestion to start looking at. AT&T and us posters arent out to get you. trust me.
this may sound kind of obvious, but did you check your sync schedule in ActiveSync? Make sure it is set to as items arrive.
I have my activesync working fine with Exchange 2003 on AT&T's network.
Only other thing I can think is if you have KaiserTweak set to disconnnect GPRS automatically after X amount of time.
I have the same problem with mt Tilt. If I use the ATT ROM it works fine but if I move to one of the HTC ROMS I get that problem with Activesync disconnecting from the Exchange server.
I had the same issue on my 8500 with some of the cooked ROMs. On that device the ATT ROM and vp3G's ROMS worked fine (except for one of his; the hybrid I think).
For now I'm just sticking to the ATT ROM and pray vp3G gets a Tilt so he can start making ROMs for our device.
If you don't want all the ATT bloat installed then hard reset and then just hit the soft reset button when it pops up saying it going to customize the device in 3 seconds.

My desire to figure this out got the best of me, so Ive been pretty much just flashing and experimenting for the last few days, and I think I may have actually figured this out....
It looks like it IS something to do with the network wizard. I pulled out a cingular settings cab from my hermes days. Flashed on the HTC rom, cancelled the network wizard, install it, and my AS has been connected for hours and hours. Did the same with one of the new cooked ROMs, same thing. So it looks like something just isnt quite right with the network wizard when it puts in the AT&T settings....

Nice work! What I've done to track this kind of thing is to use DotFred's TaskManager and export the *entire* registry before and after, then use a "diff" type utility to compare the two. Some obvious timestamps, etc, always change but it's usually pretty apparent where the change(s) were.
Might be interesting to do that between your working config and the wizard's config and see if there's just one or two settings different....

I wonder what all there is in the cab file? I haven't tested it on my Tilt but on the 8525 if I canceled the customization and inputed the network settings myself it didn't stay connected.
Where do I get a copy of this cab file so I can look at it?
I'm attaching the cab for the settings....been working like a champ for over a day now, so Im going to call this issue resolved in my book....

Well, personally I'm happy on the AT&T ROM, so it will take someone else running the .reg file extractions. I'll be happy to help analyze the two, but right now it won't be me extracting them

For the record I'm using a tilt flashed to HTC ROM on at&t without any AS problems running Exchange Push.
I always manually input the at&t settings though.
Mine actually worked fine both the stock AT&T rom and the HTC rom. I just started having this problem with duty's touchflo tilt rom. The cab posted here did not make any change for me. Any other suggestions?

Let me preface by saying that I know almost no one uses PIE anymore. I typically don't either, but until a stable Opera 9.5 is out, I'm using Opera Mini, PIE, and Skyfire. PIE unfortunately, is the only one of those three that I can access my bank account on right now.
PIE freezes the phone every single time I use it now. I don't know why. I have plenty of free memory left (both ROM and RAM) and nothing running in the background when I try to open it. I have KaiserTweak as well as MemMaid... should I tweak the IE settings in either of those apps? I don't know what the deal is, and I hate that I have to rely on PIE, but I do for now
did you use advanced config and change the temp internet files storage location to the SD card?
Yes. That was one of the first things I did when I got the phone. Are you saying this is good for performance or bad?

I had the same exact problem at once and i had to disable the proxy each time and sometimes it still wouldn't work. I hated using the internet. I then decided to do a hard reset and it fixed things (or i might have flashed to another ROM, can't exactly remember).
I migrated from a Wizard to a Kaiser and I ported quite a few things from old Kitchen - one of these was the registry entries to put IE temporary stuff on the Storage Card. This was my first mistake and I was flamed for asking why (search, search, search apparently...).
For some reason IE on the Kaiser dies a death when the cache etc is set to use the Storage Card. I changed the .RGU files in my kitchen and flashed a new ROM and I have not had a problem since.

I have a HTC Diamond from Sprint that I got back in Feb. '09. I have it about a year now. My problems have always been constant pause/freeze during texting. It lasts about 10-15 seconds. I've tried updating it nothing has ever worked. Also Windows Update has never worked. It just says cannot connect to server, make sure date and time are correct. Over the last month or so people have told me they are not receiving my texts. Before I didn't have any real problems. I did just do the hotfix for the sms that came out on Jan. 14th, 2010. That may help not sure though.
*update - It seems the sms update has helped but people still don't always get my texts. I think it's either my phone or the cell tower. I've talked to Sprint before and they have said they only have one tower in my area and that it's not at 100% or at least not as good as it should be.

Have you tried using an app like ClearTemp or MemMaid that clears out temporary and junk files?
You should if you haven't. Also, I recommend a ram reclaimer like CleanRam. Helps to keep things running smoothly.
No I haven't tried those. Im not big into downloading to my phone. Do I just google the apps then dl them to my phone an install? anything special I need to do or know?

You can download the .cab files directly to your device or download them from a pc and then move them to your device through a sync connection and just place them in your device memory.
Then just navigate to the cab file using file explorer and click on the file to install. I suggest you install them to device memory if you have the space.

I tried those apps but they didn't do much. I saved about 6-7 MBs but that's it. I still get the pause/freeze when texting and still have problems with people receiving my texts. My texts either don't show up or they get them late. I guess it's just Sprint in my area. I'll have to try and call them and see what can be done.

I suggest you do a backup using some sort of backup utility and then hard reset/clear storage. That should help if that is an option for you.
Also, if you have messaging set to check for email frequently that can cause slow downs from time to time when you have another app open. Set it to not check automatically and just check it yourself using send/receive. Or set it to check once or twice a day automatically.
I've done several hard resets, majority of them last summer. That's how I am on raido 2.00 instead of radio 1.80 which I beleieve is the official version. I was having these problems even on the official roms that's why I even decided to update.
I don't use the e-mail on my phone. I just use the testing part.
Have you tried doing any registry tweaks/hacks to increase performance? I definitely recommend doing some because they can make a huge difference. Check the Diamond Tweaks Thread in the Stickies.

No I haven't tried any tweaks or hacks. My performance besides the signal/bars and the pause is good. I only use about 40% or less. I hardly ever go above 45%.

my htc Touch Diamond dose not work it use to light up but very dim now i have no display and no light.
when you turn it on it buzzes and that is it.
