hi,
about 2-3 times this week, my tilt would go to sleep, but when i press the power button, it would not wake. i know there is still power because of the blinking green and bluetooth light. any suggestions on how to fix this?
I think that's the "Sleep of Death". Do a search for it. For me, I did a hard reset and it went away.
Good luck!
happens to me also. So annoying, next time it happens call yourself and see if the phone wakes up or if it jumps straight to voicemail, i'd like to know mines hasnt done it in a while. I think it happens when you have it plugged into the wall for a long period of time and its sleeping. Like that night when you're sleeping.
I've had that problem a few times but its mainly only when its on the charger at night that it happens. What I've been doing now is just not turning it off at night when its charging that way the alarm goes off in the morning. Some people don't like it on as the screens not completely off and the light drives them nuts.
are you within the 30 day period, as in a new contract? I am on my 4th phone, the three before this one all had the same problem not waking, hopefully you are not past the 30 days and can trade it in, you could always try installing the new ATT rom, it might fix your issue I have heard it helped some, if nothing else its worth a try.

Do youy use any other roms? Do you hard reset?
This happened for the very first time to me this week on my tytn 2. Fixed it by taking the battery out. Had my phone for 6 months.
my alarm didn't go off this morning for that very reason....good thing I have 2 other alarms...lol
I thought my problem was charging related, but I didn't charge it overnight...
I have had the same problems too , on my fourth phone now . What has seem to of helped was removing the micro sd card , doing a hard reset and for the last 4 days , had no further "sleeping" problems .
it would be interesting to find out whether you all have been using micro sd cards in your phones ( THIS COULD BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM) Or should I say a faulty sd card could be causing the problem .
also some interesting points regarding the same topic here

When I had the first three phones I was just typical "Joe Consumer" I had no idea about this website or any of the cool stuff I have learned here. So consequently I just knew there as a problem and it was pissing me off so I kept taking them back and swapping. If the 4th didn't work I was going to go with the iphone so I could have something to use when I travel to check email and other BS. But the 4th worked and all is well. Although sometimes i wish I would of got the Iphone just because of battery life and it is alot faster with applications than my phone at least. But I cant take that feeling of being in a Jail Cell every time I hold that thing...........

I have had my Vario III for almost a year now (used to have a Vario II before this), and I've never had this problem before.
All of a sudden yesterday, my phone screen just went dim. I didn't install anything new and it didn't fall or anything. Since then, I cant use the power button on the side to switch the screen off, and the phone simple wont charge. I've tried doing a soft reset many times.
While the phone is restarting, the screen starts off bright as usual, but while in the loading process (10 secs after it starting rebooting), the brightness goes down approx 60-70%.
If I keep the power button down for a while, I get the option if I want to switch my phone off. If I say yes, the loader keeps spinning and the phone doesn't switch off, regardless how long I wait.
The phone is still usable and all the programs still work.... but its not charging and screen wont turn off. What should I do?
By the way, I haven't changed the ROM. I still use the original ROM that came with T-Mobile.
... And you didn't drop it right? Sounds like there was a hardware failure for sure...
Any Ideas?
My phone ran out of battery now. Still not charging. Its my only phone and its annoying me. I don't know if its the ROM thats gone buggy. If I need to change the ROM on it, I HAVE to get the battery fully charged right?
I cant think of any other possibilities. Any ideas would be great.

No, I didn't drop it. I was just using it normally and it just decided to do that. I wasn't connected to the internet at that time either.
Well the ROM on the phone wouldn't cause it not to charge. The ROM is obviously not even taken into consideration when the device is off and charging (or in your case, not charging).
Have you tried different cables to see if it is working, i.e. USB vs wall-charger?

Yup... tried different chargers and different wall sockets.
The problem I explained earlier did happen before, about a month ago, and it had same symptoms. And even then it happenned for no particular reason. But after soft resetting it a few times, it sorted itself out. This time, nothing seems to work.
Man that stinks. I hate to say it but it definitely sounds like a hardware failure

Well... Good thing I sync'd my phone last night and transferred all data onto the memory card.
I'll just keep working on it, see if I can figure something out. If I do, I'll post the solution here for future reference. Till then, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thanx
Hi Guys,
Could someone tell me why my 2 weeks old Galaxy S (Service Provider: Bell) turns it self off out of the blue?
It happend twice already, the phone was on my pocket, I pushed the on/off side botton and nothing happens, the screen is pitch black!!
This is an irritating issue as I'm forced to physically take out the phone from the case and remove the battery and put it back on to turn on the phone.
Does anybody whats causing this issue? and how to fix it ?
Your help is much appreciated!
Cheers
Also, I was wondering if I do a factory reset to try solving the random shutting down problem, will I have to re-purchase all the apps I bought from the Market?

No, the info that you purchased the apps is stored in your Google account. So if you use the same Google account as you're using now as your primary account after reset, you can download all those apps for free. (Primary account is the Google account you first associated with the device.)
i had the same problem with 3 different bell vibrants. About 6 days ago, i bought a new sim card from bell for $5, and it has not happened since. I bought my phone from Bestbuy, but bought my new sim card from Bell store because perhaps the bestbuy sim cards are outdated. Hopefully it stays ok.
One thing i did notice was that when my phone would turn off by itself, it was always in an area where there was bad reception. Maybe a link.
I found that it happened when I installed a different launcher other than Touchwiz. I was using LauncherPro, uninstalled it and everything worked fine. I installed ADW and everything is fine so far.
I saw this thread yesterday and was thankful mine hadn't developed this issue. And then last night after about two hours idle time, my SGS switched itself off and the power button wouldn't respond at all. The only way to revive my beloved phone was to do a hard reset (i.e. removing the battery).
For what it's worth, the only "mods" I've made are installing a handful of apps. No new launcher, no custom ROMs etc.
I'm tempted to give Voda a ring and ask for a new SIM. But this really smells more like a hardware fault to me. A faulty SIM shouldn't result in a handset switching itself off, I'd think...
i'v encountered smailar problem , first i thought my phone turned itself off, later i suspected some apps i'v installed ( setCPU, autokiller etc), after while and digging, i found that i'v installed "Android Tweak" , it has an option to disable screen dim, and i'v used that option, so i changed it back and the problem is gone.
in Spain we have the same problem and no solution by now

Mine just died again ten minutes ago. I guess it's a possibility, but considering the number of bugs that we're all discovering with the hardware and software, I'm suspecting it's yet another dodgy batch of phones from Samsung.
I just bought two Galaxy S and I am having same problems with both. I called Belll and they said they never had this kind of problem before. I had installed few apps and thought may be those apps were causing the problem, but even after deleting the apps..phones are powering off itself...
Did any one find the solution yet??
Same problem here, and from what i am hearing is becoming frecuent among galaxy owners. Im amazed something this important hasnt made the news , i mean, its a huge malfunction issue .
I had the same issue.
I called up Samsung support and they asked me to do a phone reset. I didn't try that, but I upgraded the firmware and it's gone now. I suspect resetting the phone will also solve the issue.
This happened to me for the first time today as I woke up and it wasn't dark outside. When I looked to see what time it was my phone (that I use as an alarm) was off!!
This is the first blemish on an otherwise outstanding experience. But it is a major one. I will assume that it is somehow related to something I've installed. But I'm not looking forward to figuring it out, since I've got a lot of apps

Good luck. I did a factory restore the other day to see if that would help. It didn't. Like you I use my SGS as an alarm... I woke up two hours late this morning because my phone had switched itself off in the middle of the night.
I'm currently waiting for a replacement handset. I'm not holding my breath that the new hardware won't have exactly the same bug though...
Mine started doing this yesterday...same with a bunch of coworkers that have the same phone. We think it may be related to bad reception.
Sigh
My phone just started doing this in the last couple of days.
I've also noticed sometimes it gets into a state of continuously saying "usb debugging connected" and then "usb connected" and just continuously keeps displaying those even though it has no usb cable anywhere near it..
Havent flashed the phone for about a week now and it was fine for 3-4 days after the flash so no idea what is going on..
Anyone else seen those usb messages? They come and go.. but it seems when they come its usually when my phone turns off..

Thats funny...because the only time it has happened to me is at work, where the phone is struggling for reception. It has turned off a total of about 8 times over 1 month. It has never turned off anywhere else (except one other time i was getting bad reception in the forest, and a few minutes later it was off)...strange
Hey you guys, ive been using my N1 for about 10 months now, and lately its been a headache because I've been facing weird touch issues since about 7 months... and its getting worse every day...
Initially I thought that this problem was caused because I installed the HTC_IME keyboard that can be found here, I uninstalled it and the problem dissapeared but just for some weeks untill a few days ago, I installed the "gingerbread keyboard" and my problem reappeared, I have tried everything, wiped, flashed, wiping the KB data... and this issue is still there...
Sometimes Im writing and when I press (for example) the "E" button the phone puts hjk.. its practically impossible to write an sms or in gtalk, because when i write the nex letter "X" (for example) the phone puts yui, so instead of ex it appears hjkyui...
Im also facing the thing that you can see in the minute 2:09 of This Video (as far I know, every nexus one does this).
One thing that i noticed is that this issue started when i flashed my first Cyano rom! (I think).
This happens 6-8 times every day, i have to turn off the screen and turn it on again, but sometimes neither this solve the problem!
Is there a way to calibrate my screen? or any app to check if something is wrong?
Im begging for your help, Its very difficult to sell this phone in my country couse everybody uses blackberry... and i dont have the money to change it... Im using last nightlie build (295).
try a different rom... we all have the same touch screens so you problems cannot be any different than anyone elses... the biggest thing i have noticed is the problem starts when you rotate the phone alot
Ill try another rom tomorrow!
any other suggestions?
I have sometimes the keboard problem like yours it's rare. so far as I know you can't fix the touch problems it is there and will be forever. when typing sometime you can touch the screen with the inside of your hand and everything goes wrong then.
if you really having issues when typing you can turn off the screen and back on most of the time it acts normal again.

no i don't have that much, really maybe once a week or two.
Maybe your digitizer is broken. i have my nexus now for a year and never had that much problems with the touch screen.I only notice that the multi touch isn't good when playing games on it.
Im using my keyboard without the prediction and since yesterday I have not had any touch issue.
Ill continue using it that way and see how it goes!
Please keep us updated on the progress. I also have this issue. Uninstalled HTC_IME and replaced by SmartKeyboard Pro which solved the issue for a while but recently I have the issue again. Not too often but it indeed is annoying... Would love to see some ultimate solution to this because other than that I am very happy with Nexus.
PS using official OTA ROM (2.2.1 for now)

It only happens to me about once or twice a week for the last year. It happens more often than not immediately after plugging in the charger.
Of course I use the day lights out of my phone, 2 charges a day with 6 hours of screen on time a day.

well, just for you to know, yesterday I chatted with my GF for like an hour and a half with it connected to the charger and not happened to me, im starting to think that this is caused by the auto complete option (which is odd too)
after 2 days of not having any issue, my touch went crazy again, but just a little, I was not charging it, it had the autocomplete option unticked, and it was liying on my bed couse I texted a lot today with my GF.
i did not turned the screen off, I i forced it to write what i wanted it to write... then i left it again on my bed, it turned its screen off and later another message came and it was just fine...
Ill continue testing it like this couse this time the issue was very short.
Its the digitizer. Its a flaw in the N1. But Ive also had the same expierence with launcher pro.

It doesn't matter what app you are doing on the phone at that particular time. It's a hardware defect and just happens wherever you are at the moment.
I've had it happen on the main home screen, typing a text with the keyboard, browsing the web, anywhere. Just a quick sleep the screen resets it back to normal.

Just to let you know, sometimes i cant even use my phone, and as you said "Just a quick sleep the screen resets it back to normal" ive done it and nothing is fixed, i even wiped to factory settings and when the wipe is completed, my phone its still the same!
Try using another keyboard like swift key or something. You can calibrate the phone in your settings menu

Hello eveyone.
I'm having one of the strangest problems I've encountered with a phone before and I just can't seem to track down the problem. Please read this thread with an open mind as from what I can tell this is a unique issue that sounds like normal issues.
The main problem is that the phone keeps rebooting. From the get go this sounds like a normal issue with either the battery or power switch but here is the weird part...
It only happens when the phone is fully charged!
IBackground
I have had the phone since release and I have only ever used the stock rom that came with the phone. I don't really use phones much n general except for using it for calls texts and BBC news. I didn't even have a SD Card in it until after the problem started. Everything was running great, I never had any battery problems at all, and then a couple of weeks ago my phone contract expired with Orange and I decided that I would get a SIM only plan with EE.
While waiting for the SIM card to arrive in the post I charged my phone up one day and noticed that I had to power on the device. The phone seemed to power on fine, I could use all features of the phone, but when I turned the screen off for more then 5 or 6 seconds the phone would restart. There would give no indication that it had turned off or that it had powered off in anyway. It would simply just be blank, I'd press the power switch, and it would vibrate once and begin its start up procedure as if it had been turned off completely.
Here is where it gets weird, the phone will keep cycling on its own like this until the battery drains itself through constant reboots until about 85% juice, at which point it begins to operate functionally.
I heard that some people say they had problems with the power switch. I figured that if it was the power switch it then the problem would be consistant and would continue giving me problems when the battery was below 85%. I think I can rule out the power switch as faulty. Naturally I came to the conclusion it must be software, perhaps an APP installed which was incompatible. I tried all sorts of things, regardless I came to the conclusion it needed to be factory reset. Factory reset didn't do anything, still does it. My next thought was Firmware, it must be the firmware that was corrupt. I went through tutorials and rooted my phone, installed recovery software and ended up installing Cyanogenmod 11 (Which looks really beautiful btw, wish I had done that sooner) and buying an SD Card too do so. Still the problem persists! I read that some people had problems with swelling batteries, I replaced the battery completely just incase. £10 wasted, still does it.
At this point I'm starting to get confused. I started thinking perhaps it was the cable providing too much charge to the device, over charging somehow. Tried a different cable and a different power source. Still the poblem persists. I made sure there was no dirt in any of the connectors incase that was causing something. No joy.
So to summerize:
1. Factory Reset
2. Replaced Battery
3. Changed power leads
4. Cleaned device
5. Flashed to completely new firmware
I've completely run out of ideas on what it could be. Why would the phone operate absolutely fine under 85% power? Its just weird! I'd appreciate any help some one could provide me. I've not seen any one else with this problem on the internet. Please let me know what you guys think.
Thanks
Craig.

Sorry to hear about this man!
I am completely stumped on this one! You've basically done all the basic solutions but to no avail. I had a problem similar to this where my device would reboot randomly, whenever it wanted to and in my case, the solution was to buy a new battery and that actually worked. I've had the battery for almost 2/3 months now and it's still going strong.
Back to your problem, I honestly don't know of a solution. I really wish I could be of help but as I said, you've already tried the basic solutions.
Again, sorry to not be of much help!

I think I have the same problem as you did. After suddenly dropping and rebooting, my battery level jumps back up when the phone starts, and again, and again. The phone is functioning normally only when plugged in. I also presume that it is a battery problem, but the fact that the battery level rises back after dropping, makes me wonder.
EDIT: Problem solved with buying a new battery.
Sorry to jump in, just curious, did you solved this? If you do, hope to hear your solution, might help others in future

I have a problem with my LG G Watch R. I use it just a week and in beginning it was all great, but after an upgrade(I think) to 5.0.1 my watch started to shut down randomly.
Sometimes when it shuts down I just turn it on and it works, but sometimes it wont turn on at all with button(holding it to 20 sec and nothing) only way to turn it on is to put it on charger until it turns on and than when removed from charger can be used normally until next shut down which could be for 5 min or few hours you can never know.
I tried to reset from settings and even form boot it and it didn't fix it. Can problem be in pairing it with rooted smartphone with unofficial rom or something like that?
I have also one shutdown yesterday for first time after 4 weeks and it is after 5.01 update.
I do not know why but it is possible that my hand position has pressed for more than 10s the power button ?

It is possible, but mine shuts down even when standing on table, and on my wrist. I thing it is some battery management issue because it somehow shuts about the same percentage of battery(about 70% than about 52% etc..)
I am faced with the same problem... Were you able to solve it?
Me too... same problem. I don't known why.
Same here. Had the watch for a week, first week everything fine now it just shuts down and I am unable to start it without the charger. I have just upgraded the software.

Not for me...Shutdown is done randomly. Sometimes it's just few seconds after a reboot, sometime it's after 1 hour, sometimes it works for few days...I had also a reboot
in recevory & fastboot mode...Sorry to say LG, but your hardware is not efficient
I sent it in a few days ago. Will let you know once I get it back
I'd make sure you don't have any Wear Apps causing problems. I found that "Advance Settings" caused mine to regularly crash.
True, but crashing is one thing. The Probolem here is that the phone shuts down all the time.
Just got a letter from the company that's repairing my watch. Due to a parts that's not available the repair will take some more time. They sent me a list of the parts that are going to be replaced:
PCB assembly
Rechargeable battery
Cover assembly
LG2 (no idea what that's going to be)
Anyway. I'm glad they are fixing it and I'm looking forward to get it back soon.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
After many phone calls and emails I won't get the watch back. However the store will give me a refund for it. Unfortunately I can't buy it here anymore. Gotta check ebay
