I come from the wizard where customs roms were famous for speed and reliability, now i finally got a wing and im coming across all these new TOUCH roms, how do they differ from the stock besides speed and reliability?
Usually incorporating TouchFLO into the UI (swiping finger from bottom to top to "open" the interface). I don't use it much (it can be turned off, and most I've seen have it off by default).
Also Programs like "large Start Menu" installed

I had done tweak #1 which sped up TF3D. I do notice that when I'm on "home" and click the contact icon, there seems to be a huge lag before the "all people" icon comes up for instance.
I've tried to read all the posts about speeding up TF3D but they seem to make TF3D move faster in general, as a whole.
My TF3D moves quicker from icon to icon (ie. home->people->messages->mail, etc, etc)
The lag is the softkey button on each icon (ie. home has phone/programs... people has all people/menu...messages has all messages/menu)
Are there any other tweaks to speed up TF3D?
Thanks,
Mark
Yeah noticed this too. Maybe lag is due to it effectively waiting for the animation top complete under the old performance ?
About a second or less, when I click from Home on the People button and All Contacts becomes available...
the lag is most likely due to loading up the contact photos of ur favourite contacts. however, after flashing the lqtewt cooked roms based on 1.93.xxx.x there is no longer any lag.
Hi all,
I was wondering if and how you would go about changing the scrolling speed when using your finger...
E.g. If I open anything with a vertical scroll bar (say SMS inbox, file explorer etc), a slight flick of the screen would scroll down (or up) far too quick.
It used to be perfect on my Hermes device as standard.
I'm using Dutty's ROM on my Diamond.
Anywhere that I can change this?
Thanks.
Yes, i would like to know this too. I keep flicking up and down, or accidentally 'clicking an item' which is a pain..
Yeah, accidentally click on an item is also an issue for me (but apparently not for many others!)
Accidental click
Hi,
I'm having the same problem too...
There are some tweaks in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398265
Also, try the Advanced Config tool... It has some options too.
But with all these, although there is a slight improvement in usability, still the experiance is not as good as the iphone.
More than the scroll speed, the accidental click is a real pain...
Especially in scenarios like: Programs --> Add program and Weather Application --> Add city
Is there any better fix available... pls help.
+1 for me too. This is really really annoying, and actually I don't think anything in the Advanced Config tool makes the slightest bit of difference to this setting. I set 'scrolling' to disabled under TouchFlo settings of Advanced Config too, but I can still scroll and it's still exactly the same as before.
any ideas about this? i just flashed my rom to dutty's 3.4 (originally a 3.2) and in resco explorer, the scrolling was almost as smooth as an iphone but now it's too fast and sometime non-responsive. anyone know what setting can change this?
This worked for me.
Hi guys,
I was just installing the new Manila Controller add on, which comes with FTouchFlo (SL). With the FTouchFlo enabled, scrolling is back to how it should be for me
Where did you find the Manilla Controller app?

Yes. Where did you get the Manila app? I was searching for a way to only allow upon double click, but could not find anything in the settings.
It's the FTouchFlo that does the deal. The mentioned Manila Controller just encorporates a version of FTouchFlo to enable the upslide activation.

Yep that's right, just do a search on FTouchFlo (renamed to FTouchSL?)
Been there, got the t-shirt. FTouchFlo (the old, free version) runs and doesn't do much. Scrolling in native WM windows is still messed up.
Just flashed to latest ROM from Dutty and first thing I installed was FTouchFlo (via Manilla controller). Didn't test the scrolling before, but now, again every menu (native or otherwise) seems to be 'scrollable' for me.
Any other success stories with FTouchFlo? I installed and activated it, but it didn't do much.
I have used this setting to calm this finger flicking crazyness down:
HKLM\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings:
SpeedHigh: default value (25) <-- Change to (5) / SpeedLow : default value (70) <-- Chnge to (14) save and soft reset
Many custom ROMs are including the 5 and 14 setting respectively this makes it crazy fast when flicking with the finger. I suggest using default settings here or, in my case I use 25 for SpeedHigh and 50 for SpeedLow, wich does improve scrolling over default when using the finger but keeps the finger flick toned down. BTW, I've noticed that when flicking witht the finger the first flick engages SpeedLow and a second flick switches to SpeedHigh.
I'm one of the 10% of left handed people in the world and was wondering if anybody had managed to make a rom for kaiser for us lefties if not then whats the best solution as the scroll bar on the right hand right means my hand is over the screen so i cant see while i have to scroll hope someone can shed some light on this
Try looking around here, although I don't remember seeing any left-handed ROMs there. As for the scroll bar, there was a thread about that in the Off-Topic forum a while ago, and although many agreed that it would be nice to do, nobody had the slightest idea how one would do so.
You might want to try a WM6.5 ROM, as they have excellent finger scrolling (so long as you disable Touchflo scrolling in Kaisertweak).
Dave
we should make a seperate lefties forum lol
I agree, for me, WM6.5 overall works great. Contact, home screen, app launcher scrolling were all seamless. and the old control panel type stuff is gone so you get to use the honeycomb to browse through the settings options.
for me it's way better than trying to use a tiny scroll bar no matter what side it's on.
Has anyone else tried the new build?
What do you guys think?
I personally hate the new arrangement (with the close menu at the bottom). Plus it f.... up a lot of my apps as that bar seems to overlap on the menus of many apps.
I repeat what I posted on WMPoweruser:
My feelings are the same as before.
The UI is not consistent in it's look, some things are so bad.
What I like:
1. Homescreen
2. Enlarged task bar
3. Some UI elements enlarged
4. Smooth scrolling through almost anything
5. Apps menu when hitting windows icon.
6. New buttons added
I hate:
1. Too big menus – scrolling through menus is a pain in the ****ing ass.
Why do display 3 lines of text on a big screen?!
Hopefully it'll change on higher res devices though
2. New buttons look like ****. As well as scroll bar – it does not go anywhere
with the old UI look. I appreciate this "3D" attempt but it could be simpler!
3. All the elements are enlarged to the extent it looks like a dumb phone. Awful.
4. Hopefully the blue colour can be changed.
So, very mixed emotions as for me. But I hope this video is on TPro or Diamond,
so on 480×800 screens it will look smaller. What a waste of space, look at build in file manager
or the menu in Total Commander, IDIOTIC.
Double post
I like the 23022+ Builds, aside from 2 points.
1) The lower buttons now overlap my Manilla slightly, looks odd but doesn't really effect functionality.
2) Accessing task manager is MUCH harder.

What do you mean?
EDIT:
The leak 23034 looks so much better!
When I tap the top-right corner in 6.1/other 6.5 Roms I get the little drop down menu where it shows my open programs. On 6.5 (at least the rom I tried) was very iffy with that, I press the top right and I kept getting the enlarged notification bar.
I really hate the new look its just so messed up. just making things bigger doesn't mean its finger friendly. they just making things bigger. what if they remove the bottom bar and make it look more like android. they have to change alot on the interface.
whats preventing me to go android is that there is no good navigation software i have tomtom on my x1. if i didn't use tomtom i was gone from wm to android.
I hope for us that the final build will look better than this and i will stay with older builds without the bigger battom bar.
the only thing that i like is the homescreen with titanium and the scrolling but that was it.
23028 looks really incomplete, which is a bit off putting, but is obviously to be expected. 23034 looks a lot better, and both builds show MS is going in the right direction anyway. I just hope it can be sorted so the newer builds don't overlap with TouchFlo, cos it looks a bit weird when it does.
I've been in the mood to upgrade to WM6.5 and in trying out some roms, I see that all of them have been "optimized" to be more finger friendly, which to me just means "waste a bunch of screen space".
The things that I hate the most about these new roms are how huge everything is! From the start menu, to dialog boxes, to soft button menus, to on screen keyboards, everything is just huge.
Are there any WM6.5 (or even current 6.1 for that matter) roms that don't have the huge buttons and graphics everywhere?
I like to pack as much information on the screen as I can, and the huge menus and soft buttons just kill that for me.
Are these things changeable once the rom is flashed or do I have to find a rom that has all of this cooked into them?
I'm afraid that anyone who wants to stick with current WM builds has no chance of non-finger friendly menus and screens etc. You must search back to 6.5 RTM or 6.1 builds.
But even the recent 6.1 roms have been bitten by the huge everything bug.
I ran HyperdragonIII Raphael before I decided the try new roms. That one came out in January, and even it has the finger friendly volume adjuster and huge dialer. The dailer I can turn off, but not the volume adjuster. I hate that thing.
I checked out your kitchen, as I'm thinking of rolling something for myself. It's just tough to know where to start. I wish people would release the uncooked roms with their stuff, so we could hack away and fix what we want in them.
I guess what I want is a new rom with recent builds of the OS and tools, but with the original old-school look. I just don't like all the HTC replacement apps that the roms come with now.
I installed the attached CAB on a WM 6.5 ROM and all menus, email lists, etc. became very small, but still readable, so maybe this will work for you.
If you use any Windows Mobile theme made for WM versions prior to 6.5 on a Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM, the theme will revert all menus and other UI elements to the old, ugly style. And in the finger friendly 6.1 ROMs, you can disable the HTC Menu Enhancement through the registry and and stop HTC Volume from appearing in place of the standard Windows Mobile volume popup.
