my t-mobile wing makes this hissing sound when i have it on its stock clock... and it bugz the hell out of me but when i use omap 2 over clock it to 247 and the hissing sound stops any 1 eles has this problem....another question what tempature is a good and stable to have when ur clocking ur wing @
Mine does the same thing but I just leave it clocked at 299 anyway.
It's a known issue. When the processor is underclocked, 201MHz or lower, the "Hissing" sound gets louder. This sound is coming from the LCD screen. You will notice that this sound will dissapear in two situations:
Overclock your phone
OR
Press the power button to turn off screen
I have mine setup with CPU scaler going from 188MHz - 286MHz. I figure the only time my phone will go to 188MHz is when its on stand by, in this case, the screen is already turned off .
So other then those two options, I don't know of any other way to resolve the "Hissing" sound.
Regards,
yes the lcd does make hissing sound and ive clocked my wing @ 241... one last question what temputer would be a 2 hot for the wing 2 be @ ... i dont want to fry my wing

I have posted a bug with the rear speaker and the volume control. On my unit, when you turn this feature on, the volume is very loud. Even if you turn down the volume to the lowest setting, the volume is less, but still to loud. In a discussion with HTC today, they had no answer as to why this is happening. They indicated that when you turn down the volume to the lowest setting, it should mute. They pointed out that in WM6 there is no settings tab for setting the rear speaker volume as in WM5. Has anyone else tried this feature?
I don't have this problem.
But it doesn't mute though when i use the roll switch on the left side of the kaiser to lower the volume, it does decrease the volume to a minimum, but is NOT muted completely. (that's not a problem for me.. if i don't want to hear the rear speaker, i don't activate them ).

Hi
When using the speaker phone and turning down the volume, even on the lowest setting it isn't off completely. This makes absolute sense as if you are on a call using the speaker phone having no sound at all, well what is the point of being on the call in the first place?
When playing sound elsewhere, i.e. not in a call turning it down completely does mute it.
Your particular issue seems to be the sound doesn't go quiet enough for you, maybe HTC can change this in future firmware. I expect the complaints they get most often is it isn't loud enough to annoy people even more with silly ring tones!

Phil
"silly ring tones!"
Ha, that should be a song

this is my pet hate
the number of ar$eholes who play music through the speaker on their phones - i nearly kill someone every day on the bus to work - one day im going to bludgeon one to death with my kaiser
im sitting inside now and theres some prick outside in his nova doing his bit to deny me of any peace - im gonna lose it and go vigilante pretty soon
does anyone else have a weird high pitched noise when you push the send call and end call button? i would love to know what causes that because it ends up happening no matter what rom i install. also does anyone elses wing stop vibrating and making sounds in general after a couple of hours and in order to get it back you have to soft reset? any insight would be helpful. thanks in advance.
I get a high pitched sound when I'm on calls usually (because my ear is right next to the phone and I can actually hear it)
From what I've read, it's caused by the frequency of the CPU. If you're underclocking below 201Mhz using batterystatus that's when it usually happens. I don't go below 201MHz and it still happens to me, but I don't really notice it anymore.
The noise he speaks about is the noise that it makes when you press the end call. It's a different noise from the one you're thinking about, but both can be annoying.
the only noises i can think of when pushing the send or end call buttons... are some high pitched bleeps that are standard.. but you can change them if you want.. i think. other than that, i have no idea.
and the high pitch frequency when you're on a call.. if you turn off the screen and you can't hear it.. but yeah, i'm hungry now.
if you overclock your device that high pitch buzzing noise should go away...not sure if its healthy for your device but for me I'd rather have the phone overheat than break it myself as the buzzing just drives me nuts.
Hi, is there a way to increase the ring volume of the HD7? My wife has her volume set to 10, and when it rings in her purse she can barely hear it. I've tried downloading the HTC app with the "increase volume when in purse" setting but this seems not to help at all. In fact, even at 10 all the sound on this phone is quite low, for example the Netflix app can only be heard in a dead quiet room. For comparison, ithe "10" setting on her HD7 seems to be about the same as "2" on my Dash 3G... All help appreciated. Thank you,

But yes, it seems the speaker is quite low. I think some people think it's a software fault, and it will be fixed in the update. I don't know personally, mine seems loud enough

You keep saying she has it set on 10 when I can set mine to 30? Maybe that's why her 10 seems like a 2 to you?
On the lock screen, up volume up. You should see the volume indicator in the top left. Crank it to 30. Should be plenty loud.
when you are talking on the phone the volume only goes up to 10. however, when you are at the homescreen you can put the volume up to 30.
"In-Call" volume controls the volume of the ear-piece speaker located in the grill at the top of the phone, and yes it will only go up to 10.
The volume which goes up to 30 which you can adjust whilst on the home screen controls the external Speaker located on the back of the phone (which is used for ringtones, etc.)
They are 2 completely seperate speakers so in turn have their own volume controls.
I just acquired a Cricket Zio yesterday and have been playing around with it for the past 24 hours or so. Got the CWM "easy" working, reset it to the factory 2.2.1 stock Cricket ROM (from this thread) and then installed OpenZio 2.1.2 without any issues. Runs fine at 729 MHz, again without issues.
But the one thing that's disappointing me - and I mean seriously disappointing me - is the absurdly low audio volume. Videos, music, streams, doesn't matter, it's just insanely low. Now, before anyone jumps to conclusions, I've got an HD2 that I've tweaked to hell and back oh, hundreds of times (currently the one listed in my sig), and we all know the HD2 can really crank out the sounds without problems. I have a set of Koss earbuds (IEMs, they go into the ear canal and seal it off), and I've got a set of Koss KSC-75 earclips (my primary listening device).
With either of those plugged into the HD2 or any other device I own, like my Dell Axim X51v, my original Motorola Droid, and several other devices including an iPod touch too, those earbuds and earclips bring out all the sound quality the device is capable of, without issues.
But I plug them into the Zio and it's... well... meh. With bleh on top of that...
I located the Louder Volume Hack in the hopes it would help, but it doesn't matter which version I try or on either ROM (stock Cricket or OpenZio) it just FCs and never runs.
So my question is: for those people that I've read posts by that say the Zio has 'excellent audio quality' I have to ask: am I missing something someplace?
I've enabled Stagefright (on the stock Cricket ROM and on OpenZio also), makes zero difference in audio quality or audio volume, although it does seem to smooth things out a bit. Let's face it: I don't know why people keep calling this phone "a beast" 'cause I see no evidence of it. But for $50 and a pure fully working fully functional Android phone, it's doing just fine.
Yes, I wish it had multitouch, yes I wish it was bigger, and yes, I wish it was faster (even overclocked and with all the tweaks I've been reading about it's still rather perversely sluggish even though the Quadrant scores put it above the original Nexus One, go figure).
But what I'd really love is to do something about that audio, boost it up in some manner that I might not be aware of just yet. The HD2? Oh, man that can push my KSC-75 earclips so high I can't tolerate it.
And again, I understand this is actually a very low quality Android phone, but can anyone make any suggestions that might help with the low audio volume issue? All the settings are maxed out and it's still just incredibly low (and yes, it's fairly tinny with hardly any bass at all but that's secondary to the actual volume itself needing some healthy raising).
If anyone has any advice, I'm listening... figuratively speaking.
I have noticed that after i flashed to openzio, awesome rom btw my volume is lower then what it was with the stock rom. Like for an example if i put the ringer volume to one notch below half way the ringer will not sound and the phone just vibrates. With the stock rom i can turn the ringer all the way down to it activates the vibrate only mode and then go up 2 notches and the phone would still play the ring tone on the incoming call. With openzio the volume meter has to be at least half way or over half way for the ringtone to sound.
Just got my Z1 today this phone seems close to perfect
The only problem is that the when i plug into earphone, even the min volume is way too large for me!!
i test different earphone and i'm sure that it is becoz of the z1!! (my previous xperia s has its min volume that make much more sense)
anyway to get volume between min and mute??
i dont mind to root my phone (as i will) but i hope i can still use the walkman player...

Let me get this straight, even at the lowest volume it's too loud for you? I'm not sure if anyone would make an app to make the volume go lower... here are some links though..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=opotech.finevolumev2&hl=en
PowerAMP has a pre amp slide to tweak the volume.
Hope this helps.
Return it and get a different one. Make sure you test it before you actually take it home with you. On my own device, everything is just fine, maybe a slight yellow tint, but nothing a little bit of white balance can't fix, and it's far better than my sister's yellow tint Nexus 5.

Open up the equalizer and turn down all frequencies, it will help decrease the overall volume a bit more.
