There's not much to configure but you will need to know what port you are using for Internal gps. I use port 9 but many folks use port 4.
When you know the port number simply start Wififofum, go to tools>Options>GPS - set the port number, tick auto, Baud 4800 and click OK. Wait to get a lock on satellites.
If you have problems identifying what port you are using post back in this thread.

allready find the port @ external gps and configure it, its working, thx
allright, i read somewhere that the option "connect" isnt in the list any more, so how can i connect using wififofum?
My Tilt works with Com4 and 4800 for the "Baud Rate". Not sure what else you're asking about. It sometimes takes a little time befor I get a GPS lock. Be patient when waiting for a GPS lock and also let us know what problem or error you are seeing.

Hi,
I can't GPS signal no matter what I try. I didn't change any default settings in External GPS.
I've installed TomTom and Google maps but neither application is seeing GPS device. In TomTom I get no valid GPS signal and in Google Maps I get not able to initialise the GPS. I've tried using both of the appications with clear view of the sky and left the phone for about 30mins to try and find the satelites.
Any ideas?
I'm thinking I'm having a faulty device but I don't want to replace it just in case I get the new one with SOD problem.
Thanks for any help.
Dt11
at the moment i got the same problem! I can't get it running. The yellow LED is on but there is now signal! Pls help us...
(PS: GpsViewer does not work)

Try Autodetect of GPS ports maybe the settings were accidentally changed

From Com1 to Com11 open failed or None
hmmm
Did you change something on the "External GPS" setting?
If yes, then I think you need to hard-reset.

I thought your going to ask this Yes I did once...
Hmm ok i save all my things and then lets try...
Grrr. Why is Htc is not able to get this work without hard resest?
Geko
Yeah, HTC should improve that one.
The hard-reset thing is described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330235
ok thx now it does work....
So dt11 you have to do the same otherwise it wont work...
Geko
Stupid question, but hard reset = soft reset but holding down the 2 soft keys as well yar?
There was a discussion of this in some previous threads, based on which I installed the GPS Viewer and after activating GPS with that (com 4, 4800 baud) Google maps worked very well. No need for a hard, rest, please search the previous topics in GPS and Kaiser
[COM4 / 4800 baud] are the default settings aren't they? I think i've tried those before :S

Question:
Does someone have the "GPSmeter Professional Edition" running?
If i do install this app and run, it's over with the built in GPS so
don't install this app i always got problem with this one...
Can someone else confirm?
Geko
i couldnt get google maps or windows live to work without first running gpsviewer but when my new copy of tomtom navigator 6 (the trial didnt come with my phone) i did a clear storage which takes the phone back to its factory settings and then tomtom work super fast and very accurate in all kinds of weather without having to install a "jumpstart" software.
the way the GPS seems to work is you need a app that will start the GPS for you hence why most HTC bought Kaisers come with tomtom once you start tomtom hit the ok button and then start google maps or Live maps and GPS will work. there also is an app called GPSViewer i believe that will also start the GPS for you. I dont think anyone has gotten Google maps to start the GPS by itself?

Some people have reported that they have but I always seem to need to give it a boost. I use GpsViewer and that always seems to get Google Maps started okay.
Cheers.
All working now. I had to do a hard reset.
It has been said so many times but it won't hurt to repeat it:
WARNING: Don't touch any settings in "External GPS"!!! Otherwise your GPS will not work and you will have you hard reset you phone!
FWIW, I did not have to jump start my GPS in my 8925 with the default ATT ROM. Once I replaced it with the HTC ROM, I now have to jump start it. So it appears whatever the problem is, it's fixable via software.
Hi
From same time on my Kaiser the GPS dont function, after the problem with QuikGPS that I fix the GPS is down and dont function anymore.
On the page of the External GPS dont permit me anymore to set the same port in the 2 page.
Maybe somebody can tell how I can set the GPS as new (without to make an Hard reset).
Ciao

First of all, you need to SEARCH. There are gazillions threads out there with GPS problems. If you messed with External GPS, then you HAVE to hard-reset. Don't mess with External GPS.
I posted this in another thread which seemed to help... maybe worth a try.

???
Did HTC or XDA devs publish a spec sheet? Did anyone ask this question before? Did Google develop the art of searching?
There's a LOT on this and if you only look at the specs, you'll know. In short, it does have GPS and it is usable without an external one.

seriously...I means SERIOUSLY???? Have you ever looked at the back of your Tilt where it says GPS?? or did you never read specs on the tilt or are you unable to understand english??
LEARN TO SEARCH!!!
Durrr.....why am I hungry? It doesnt say anywhere on my body that its hungry.
Yes, the ATT Tilt has GPS
It does have a built-in GPS. This same issue threw me off at first too, until I figured it out..
You flamers shouldn't flame the OP. Actual Kaiser and TyTnII owners may already know about the GPS, but the ONLY part of the "AT&T Tilt" documentation referring to GPS is the brief mention of being able to get TeleNav. I know this because I have one. The specs/box mention that it has GPS, but that's all.
Now if I remember correctly, the GPS is COM3 or COM4 by default (unless you changed it in Start->Settings->System->External GPS). I changed mine to COM0 just for the hell of it, and it functions normally.
TomTom should work just fine, set it to 4800 baud, and try it with each COM port available in the options. It sometimes takes a few minutes for TomTom to display that the GPS is in "connected, but no valid signal yet" mode.
If you want to be able to use your Tilt's GPS as an external for some other device, the best thing I've found is GPSGate, but any COM-port splitter should work (as long as it presents a new Bluetooth and/or Serial service)
GPSGate is also useful since you can tell it to log your GPS data to any URL, à la those logging/who-stole-my-phone programs. It can also multiplex the GPS port for use by multiple programs (but I think that functionality is also built into WM and is called the "GPS Intermediate Driver", but I may be mistaken)
Hope this helps!

It is definatly listed in the specs of the phone and it says it on the back of the phone. Why would you consider getting a phone without looking at the specs of it first??
Well I didnt' come to this forum to get this kind of response...and no I have never looked at the back of my phone...I let others do my dirty work

GPS stopped working for my ATT TILT
my GPS was working fine. my tomtom was working fine, googlemaps was working fine. then all of a sudden a few weeks ago it just stopped working! usually i would use GPS test to get a working signal and then I would run tomtom and it would work. a few months ago it started to take a much longer time to acquire a valid gps signal (it would take a few to 5 minutes). but now it just doesnt find one at all! is there anything i could do to try to fix this? what com port should it be on? im thinking i mightve changed one of the settings unknowingly. please help!
Hi to all m8s...
well i got a problem with my htc diamond...
i tryed all the roms over the net signed & unsigned, and the gps is not working..
well i prove everything.. te program port is com4.. the hardware one is nothing.. i tryed all the bauds..
nothing happs...
all roms.. all bauds.. is not working..
the gps programs detects the gps on com4 port but is not working
Any solutions?
com 4
9600
then with gps software of your choice go outside and wait.... upto 3-5mins for the first ever fix. Make sure it has a good view of the sky
After the first fix it *ought* to be fine and faster after that.
Otherthan that there is a HTC piece of software for tinkering with the GPS... I cannt remember what it's called but it's on here somewhere.
hope that helps a weee bitty
as i sayed before.. triyed everithing...
and thats not working..
not even 1 satellite... nothing..
is there a way to clear the com 4?

GPS GATE... NOTHING Happs
Garming... NOTHING Happs...
Quick GPS... NOTHING...
GPS Tuner... NOTHING...
GPS CYCLE COMPUTER... NOTHING...
VISUAL GPSce... NOTHING happs..
please don´t write the common solution.. like the ports.. com 4 .. 4800/9600 blah blah..
i need something different..
All the programs says the same.. GPS found con COM 4... but no F*/k RESPONSE...
give just 1 satt..
NOTHING
the GPS TEST program gave me this... dont know for what.. but i post here
GPS Starting Up.. with a yellow dot..
and at the top.. FIX 1D... ?
If you want to try somthing different then I am afraid it is time to take the phone back to the shop / supplier and tell them they have given you a duff one and it needs replacing. Thats pretty much the only reason it wont be working now.
I run my Diamond with Garmin's GMXT paired with an external Garmin GPSr 10x. I guess you want to use the Diamond's inbuilt GPSr; this is somewhat of a limitation because the Diamond don't have a SD slot. An option is to run with Garmin Proxy and Que - but it is quite complicated.
Why don't you download and install Google Earth to test whether your Diamond's GPSr is working? If this works, then your problem is related to the GPS software that you are trying to use.
Follow GPS soft i have test: GPStuner und oziCE219
both are multi langual and works fine
GPStuner works with bitmaps downloadet from google maps.
Set the COM port into the programs (options > GPS settings) manualy to COM4 with 4800 or 9600 baud.
For informations search into the WWW.
as before, all programs tested, not working
i bought from a friend..
im i argentina, i dont have support here..
my support is this forum .. lol
and i discover a curiosity.. when i put 9600 baud.. in the system external gps.. allways goes back to 4500.. ¬¬
is there a way yo change that in the Reg?
thanks to all
The baud is not the problem if it permanently set to 4800 baud by the device.
In my programs "GPS autodetect" not works. I must manualy set to COM4 and the baud (4800 or 9600 or 19200) manualy in the GPS program.
In my rooms the GPS program showes the first satellites after 1-2 minutes.
Have you download the satellite datas with QuickGPS?
Do you know about the ROM, that the GPS modul is enable? (check also the Diamond-ROM with enable GPS from htc.com)
Also can be, that the inbuild GPS modul is defect (but i hope not)
as before, all tested, please dont give me a normal or common solution..
the gps is found on COM 4... but is not getting any sattelite info.
now my cell is in my garden, someone told me that the first triangulation in this device takes like 2 hours... so i ll se what happs..
Thanks 4 ur support, i´ll keep looking.
Pls shut down ur telephone (not flightmodus cuze GPS is down too) - I know sound is strangely but it works
so u say... that if i took out the battery.. maybe works?
lets give a try..
i ll let 30 min the battery of and ll se what happs.

Who is talkin about ur battery?!?
- Try to disable AGPS (Diamond's Tweak can do that)
- Try to do hard-resetting. Do not restore the system files, restore only PIM.
- If you're using trackr!, DO NOT set GPS maually, just use Windows' intermediate driver.
hey u people---
no common solutions.. because i already tryed..
i donno.. hope it gets fix soon

just to give you some tips:
port that should work is port 4 and the baud rate : 9600.
it will take like easy 7 minutes before it finds some satellites..
this is the a problem or an issue that is difficult to solve, but if you wana read more on this and how to enhance your GPS with different tools like , quick GPS, HTC GPS Tool ..etc. ..
check this |ink: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360477
I have tried Tomtom and IGO , both of them are to slow in finding satellites...
let us know if this worked for you!
waiting for better solution..

I have Garmin XT on mine and I have a similar problem. I will be tracking fine, then it will say GPS OFF. and then it will come back on a few minutes later.
