I downloaded the newer version of GMM and it won't install on my Kaiser. I get the following message: "Installation of GoogleMaps_compressed.cab was unsuccessful." Has anyone been successful in installing this verison?
I had the same problem. When trying to download straight from Google to the phone, I got the message. When I downloaded the CAB to my PC, then dragged the CAB onto the phone, then installed the cab - all was fine......
Interesting. I just had the same sort of experience. I used the following link to download it to my desktop.
http://www.google.com/gmm/winm_apps/v2.0.1.27/L1/GoogleMaps.CAB?source=gmmdesktop
Thanks for the help
Same here...
google are working on it, its bug with the new version so i guess we have to wait.
yeah i had the same problem thanks for letting me know you can download it on the comp
I got google maps 2.0.1.27 working on my kaiser. Install app (posted by motocrossmann in this thread) OVER Google Maps version (2.0.1.18) I already had installed. It installed ok. Perhaps many are having problems because it will only allow you to upgrade from version 2.0.1.18 (just guessing). Hope this helps.
current version is now 2.0.1.28 and i experienced no issues as described above.
Current version is now 2.0.1.28? I thought it was now 2.0.1.27? WOw, I must be behind the times and need to catch up, lol.

The 2.0.1.27 was the one most people couldn't install so that 2.0.1.28 was a fix for this.

Hi all. I tried searching but none came up anywhere.
Not sure if I'm posting at the correct section so if it isn't than could the mod pls pardon me and moved this post to the correct one.
I downloaded GPSProxy 2.2 but when I installed it in my Tytn it prompt me to install opennetcf.sdf.ppc3.arm.cab first.
So I search the net using google but was only able to get opennetcf.sdf.ppc3.armV4.cab.
Installed opennetcf.sdf.ppc3.armV4.cab and everything was ok till this stage.
Finally installing GPSProxy2.2 but it still prompt me that it requires opennetcf.sdf.ppc3.arm.cab to be installed for it to run properly.
I open up GPSProxy and I got this error:

Is it due to the V4 problem? But I can't find any file without a V4 now.
I'm a noob and trying to get it to work with malsing maps.
Hope someone can help.
So I recently rerooted once I realized that all no root reuired tethering apps block https sites unless you buy the full version. I installed the latest version of cyanogen following the tutorial on the wiki to the T. My phone is fully functional except I can not get the tethering to work. I have uninstalled the remote ndis driver and went through the install wiazrd, directing it to the folder that has the driver and it says something like it hasn't been securely verified or something and I have the option to continue installation or stop and I continue. Then, it says it didn't work and I get a code 10. Troubleshooting did nothing to help me either. Anyone have any idea what I should do? Also, I know there are threads on this but I couldn't find an answer to this issue if there is I'm sorry.

You might have to enable it in the app drawer or in settings somewhere. I ran into a rom once that had the enabler in the app drawer.

I found other threads, but none of the solutions such as unistalling and reinstalling the driver were working. I'm searching for other solutions
couldnt you atleast ask a QUESTION in the QUESTIONs and answers section?
did u try ticking the wired tether box in setting? (not to insult your intelligence, but i got asked about this via the cmupdater support address a while ago... and it turned out that the person hadnt even enabled it)
Moved as not Android Development.
Yes I made sure the little box was checked for usb tethering but I understand the necessity of the question lol.
And sorry stylez (moderator) I assumed since it was about cyanogen roms it would go under development. Looking back, Q & A makes more sense.
This thought just occured. Considering that unistalling and reinstalling the driver didn't work, could it be that I just have an outdated driver for this rom? I unrooted about 2 months ago so the driver might have changed from then. If so, does someone have a link to download the latest version?
Thank you all for your help.
xp, vista or 7?
7 is likely broken somehow
as are xp and vista coz MS made them....but anyway....
are u restarting between uninstalling and reinstalling?
I have xp. And it worked when I first had a cyanogen rom
And I tried restartingbetween uninstall and reinstall with no success
After waiting throughout september, in the hope that official Froyo update will be out, Today I installed the default kies available in my country (India)
The version was - 1.5.1.10074_45.
After done installing, kies prompted for available update. I have initiated the update, however, after sifting through forum, I am skeptical that it will work flawlessly.
So two queries.
a) How do I find out the direct download link for the latest kies version. So that if the update fails, I uninstall and install the latest stuff.
Currently I am seeing - Kies is updating to 1.5.3.10093.80.
b) Does this latest vesion of Kies means, that I will be able to update the firmware too (hopefully to Froyo).?
go to samsung australia
they have the new version for download
but no froyo yet
Thanks,
Unfortunately - I do not see the "software" link, that is supposed to be near "Manuals" Link.
May be because I am accessing Australia site from India?
here it is

Thanks again. I also tried to play around with URL, but you are much faster .
Btw, this link shows 1.5.1.10083.
Anyway, Now I am not bothered about the version too much (happy with OCLF so far), thanks very much for your help.

Kies Update by today 2010-09-29
I think your Kies should offer the update when you select check for updates at Menu Kies / Update.
I was v1.5.1.10074_45 and when checked at Kies, it offered to update to a new version. It downloaded v1.5.1.10093.80 but 68MB to download again at really slow speed !!!!!
Is anyone else's KIES refusing to check for updates? No matter how long I leave the update check window open, it never updates from "Checking for updates..."!

KIES is big pile of doo doo for me, could never get the sucker to run on my home pc, then when it did run could never get the sucker to connect to my phone. Since early July when I got my phone I had never sync'ed it with KIES. Living the life of cloud sync'in and storage I honestly beleive KIES is on par with Itunes, Truely evil p.o.s's for poor souls that don't know better. Thats just my 2c
And no I'm not running anything special, Just win 7 (32bit)
Also I noticed some things with my phone and windows/kies in general.
It seems when phone is in mount mode and hooked up to pc in Win7 , the phone kills all other high speed USB connections like external HDD's. Also noticed this on a HP work machine. It seems the phone does not play nice so that is my problem with KIES and flashing roms (win 7)in general. Its phone and USB drivers at fault here but the thing is that I've got the latest of everything. I norm use XP for flashing roms as its most stable.

I'm trying to download the lateste client with the updater from samsung, but it keeps getting stuck.

so any volunteers?

One way is to dpwnload the new version from.samsungs homepage, but i know that uninstalling and reinstalling this wonderful application can be painful and frustrating..., another way would be that you try to disable any kind of antivirus programand then run the update, worked forme this way.
Offtopic: would you mind typing the order the "original" applications are in program menu? As when i updated to froyo all my apps are in alphabetic order... Much appreciated!
Btw,tell if none of the above solutions worked and i upload my kies folder.

Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I am having two problems on my Samsung Galaxy S Plus GT-I9001.
The first one, of not being to able to download apps started day before yesterday. When I tried to update apps via Play Store, it would just be stuck at starting download, and the actual download won't start. The bar just kept moving like it does before download starts, but actual download does not start.
I searched for solution to this problem, and tried the steps on Google support... to clear cache and data for Google Framework Services, and Download Manager, and Google Play Store services. Tried that, nothing happened.
So, I decided to do a factory reset, in the hope that, that would solve the problem. And so I performed the factory reset, but the problem is same as before. Still cannot download apps from Play Store.
Yesterday, when I tried to download update for apps, it showed error 927 sometimes. Other times, it shows nothing, but just gets stuck at starting download.
However, I was able to download two apps, which makes it strange. I was able to download Street View for Maps, and Voice Search. But, the downloading for others didn't work.
I searched for solutions to the problem of error 927, and I tried different solutions I could find, but none have worked. I tried the extensive steps given on this thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33762494&postcount=8
I tried it several times, but so far this has not worked. It's making me a bit frustrated.
Second part of the problem is that, after the factory reset my phone is in the state that it first came. An upgrade to my phone firmware is there from Samsung. I have Samsung Kies installed on my system, and I have successfully done an upgrade to my phone earlier to the latest firmware being offered from Samsung.
So, I tried the upgrade via Samsung Kies. Strangely, it shows what version of firmware I have on my phone, but does not show the name of the version available, it's blank. However, it does inform that an upgrade is there.
So, I start the upgrade, and it performs an initial download, asks for UAC clearance twice, and then the firmware upgrade window comes up, where it starts to download the firmware upgrade files. Then, a Notice window comes up, with something written in Korean or Chinese, I don't know, with an OK button. When pressed OK, the firmware upgrade process closes, and then the phone disconnects from Kies, and is connected again, and then it again shows that a firmware upgrade is available.
I tried upgrading multiple times, same thing occurs. How am I supposed to understand the Notice in Korean/Chinese... that's stupid.
Also, the latest versions of Kies, starting from version 2.5.0 do not support GT-I9001. I had to download version 2.3.3 in order to use Kies to connect to my phone. Because the official upgrade is offered via Kies for I9001. Samsung is not offering update via OTA.
I am using Windows 8, and Samsung Kies works fine.
So, please help me with these two problems... downloading of apps problem, and performing upgrade of my phone.
I haven't rooted my phone.. it's just over a year old.. bought it in January last year. So, warranty is over.
I am also a newbie, and I haven't performed any rooting, or haven't yet gone into recovery mode, etc. So, if I have to do that, will need proper steps, and explanation .
Thanks.
Update via ODIN. Takes some time and patience but it works much better. See the the index in the GT-I9001 i've made a tutorial

Am getting crazy here.
I keep trying for the downloads once in a while. So, I tried downloading again, and this time, the downloads started normally. I updated 3 apps.. Gmail, Google Search, Maps. I also downloaded Flashlight app. After that, I tried to download more, but now again same problem is happening... stuck on starting download. Tried downloading different apps, same. I don't know what the heck is happening.
Any solution will be appreciated.
What might have caused this? After a factory reset, things should have worked fine, but why even after a factory reset, there are problems?
Which google play version do you use?
Thanks for the link.
The Google Play version on my phone which it installed automatically when I had performed factory reset is 3.10.14

If you have the newest one; V4.0.25 then go to settings > apps > manage apps (or on ICS/JB scrol to all) then search for google play and for Play services and wipe data/cache on both apps.
Well, I have version 3.10.14, and as said in my first post, I have already tried that multiple times, that is, clearing data and cache for the Google Play Store, Play Store Service, Google Services Framework, Download Manager.. but the problem is still there.
There are no updates shown for Google Play Store on my phone.
I have Gingerbread 2.3.6 on my phone.. XXKQD.
About performing upgrade with Odin, how do I know which stock firmware I should upgrade to.
Well, ive searched error 927 via Google ( ) and it means a server error on the developers side. Meaning the playstore/application has issues. Whichs cant be solved by us users

Well, I too had searched for this error yesterday, and as said in my first post, it is quite a common error, and I found some solutions, like the one you told, to clear data/cache, etc. But that does not work.
It does not necessarily mean that the problem is on developer's side, otherwise, it wouldn't have been solved with the different solutions.

Factory reset via recovery? Can also help..
And yes if you have the correct one then you can search for it on samsung updates or sammobile
Update on the issues - one issue solved
Seems like the problem is with Play Store, and that's why I was not able to download the apps. Now, the apps are downloading fine, without my doing anything. First, it was working randomly... but now, am able to download all apps. I now feel stupid to have performed the factory reset on the phone so soon.
Seems like Google are rolling out a new version of Play Store, and so I think that's the reason behind the downloading issues. But, its strange why it happened to me only. Anyone else with GT-I9001 experienced this issue?
About the second problem of not being able to upgrade the firmware via Samsung Kies.. I wrote to Samsung, since I have not got any helpful reply from here on the forum. They wrote back to me, giving me the address of Samsung Smart Cafe in the city, and telling me to go there. That's just stupid. For a problem with their software, why should I be the one going to the Smart Cafe. Obviously, they will charge me for their services there. I have written back to them, about this, that it's a problem with their software.. its showing non-English messages whereas the installation language was chosen to be English. Let's see what they reply... but I am not expecting any helpful reply. It will be just wishy-washy.
I may try upgrading the firmware via Odin, but I am thinking if it's worth it. The official firmware upgrade isn't so good, and has bugs.
I am thinking that if I have to upgrade via flashing, then why not root the phone, and install a custom ROM.
Can anyone please tell me about a stable and efficient good custom ROM for GT-I9001? ... or should I open a new thread to ask about it?
Am an absolute newbie with all this rooting, and flashing, and have no idea about the ROMs.
