PROBLEM: touchscreen is not responding and after a hard reset (recommended by T-Mobile not so saavy techs) I got stucked in the "TAP THE SCREEN TO SETUP YOUR WINDOWS MOBILE DEVICE" and since there is no "ESCAPE" button to skip this screen, I had a pretty much useless phone, I could only receive calls but not able to place any calls or have access to the start menu or any other function pretty much.
SOLUTION: after hours searching all over the internet, I found a very nice - FREE! - application designed for blind people to "SKIP" the align process, http://www.codefactory.es/en/ by CodeFactory. The application is called "REMOTE SCREEN ALIGNMENT" it is very easy and a quick way to skip the screen alignment process.
CONCLUSION: although it will not fix the unresponsive touch screen, it will at least let you access your phone through the buttons and slide out keyboard.
P.S.: there are many other tools and free apps there for a lot other phones.
ENJOY!

I've had my Kaiser a few days now, here's a few problems that i've had... anyone had anything similar?
- Windows Live Today addon stops working... can't scroll left or right
- HTC plugin goes fuzzy... can go into programs/settings, but nothing actually loads up when clicking on it
- After using the phone, the screen goes dim... so i have to manually reset the brightness
- D-pad stops working after using the phone (can't scroll through TXTs/Emails etc)
In most cases i have to reboot to fix :S
I was hoping WM6 would be a lot stabler... but so far it doesn't seem all that great :S
Hi,
I haven't had the problems you have, not even heat yet as has been discussed. Perhaps it's because I am not taxing the unit yet.
However, I have not been able to synch my PC to the Kaiser to yet. Synching pictures, music, TV is not an issue because Windows Media Player is working. It's the Contacts, Notes, Tasks that I cannot synch.
When I open the Windows Mobile Device Center the Connection Settings window opens up with the Allow USB & Bluetooth Connections radio buttons. When I hit OK with both Radio buttons selected (USB & Bluetooth), that's it, the window closes and there's no Windows Mobile Device Center that opens up. Task Manager shows no open Windows Mobile Device Center application but does show a Windows Mobile Device Center process, wmdcBase.exe.
What am I missing here? Please help, 4 days & I still do not have my Contacts in this phone.
This is a duplicate post from lower down.
Cheers,
Phil

Screen goes dim and the start menu does not work. This is because of the password pin set on your phone. If you deactivate it, it should be fine. It's definitely a bug on the Kaiser. There are registry hacks for this, but I have no idea how to get around it.
regarding the screen dimming, I assume this is with the HTC ROM.
My phone has been fine with the latest two AT&T ROMs (the first ROM had this prob, the screen would dim after 10 seconds). You can temporarily fix the problem by resetting the Backlight timeout Settings.. Backlight... Battery Power tab) to something like 1 minute. It will keep getting reset every once in a while though... You can also turn off the backlight timeout completely (unchecking the box), which seems to work longer.
BTW it seems to be a problem with the HTC Home plugin. When I installed the original AT&T ROM but didn't install the HTC Home today plugin, the problem did not happen.
I have seen the D-Pad problem in Outlook only - that is, hang up a call, then d-pad doesn't work to navigate thru email. Once email is open the D-Pad works... Solution is to kill (click x button) Outlook.

Same here, screen dims and startmenu does not work. Issue is I can't deactivate pw (corp security pollicy for pushmail client).
Could someone elaborate a bit on the possible reg hack that could fix this?
Thanks...
Hi
I made a small app that helps overcome this issue by making the phone usable again after a phone call.
You can get install instructions from here with a file a few posts down: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=258974&view=findpost&p=841951
Hopefully it will be fixed by HTC soon so it's just a short term work around.
Regards
Phil
Thanks
That works, thank you very much for your effort!
We'll wait for the HTC fix.

You need Outlook installed to sync those.
Add this - SMS goes bust!

i had a 3g connection with google maps running in background (gps was accurate within 10 feet) and was playing namco's ms. pac-man on the tytn ii rom when device locked up mid game. Power button would put phone into standby, but it was locked up besides. i had to soft-reset.
Cool, do HTC release updated ROMs via their website?
Also, ive had the home plugin going fuzzy and locking up quite a few times now.... definitley more problems introduced since i enabled the 'lock' feature :S
No call button??
On the dialpad is no call button only videocall button???
Am i blind?........
With my phone the 'ok' button (not on the keyboard) doesn't always respond (well). Either to confirm a adjustment or to minimize/close an screen
I have found a pretty simple workaround for the issue with the screen going dim and the start menu not working after a call.
What appears to be happening is that the device is actually locking the screen yet the keypad to unlock is not displayed. So the start menu and such think they are locked. I found that if i simply power my device off and back on the password screen/unlock screen shows up. Unlock it and you are fine from there.
Not really a fix but it will save you a reboot.
Hmm im getting lots of sync problems with Windows Live :S, also my phone 'says' it's connected to 3G/H but then randomly doesnt send texts :S
Really starting to annoy me now!
Hi, Just got my MDA Vario III, and it appears the screen alignment that WM runs on first boot will not work. By that I mean its asks me to align the screen, but it will not register the taps with the stylus or fingers.
However, it does know when I touch the screen as it brings it out of powersave. I downloaded this Remote Screen Alignment program, which is able to skip the screen align process, but then when I have done that the taps from the screen are all over the place - because the screen hasn't been aligned. The keyboad works fine for navigation around the menu's.
Does this sound like a DOA device? Or am I missing something stupid?

It might be a simple loose connection or something trapped between screen and bezel. But I would not be even thinking about that, it would be going straight back under warranty. Thankfully, this is not a common problem with the Kaiser and I think you have just been unlucky.
I assume you have not put on any screen protector that might be causing this behaviour> Otherwise it is a DOA and nothing you can/should do other than return.
Mike
Thanks. I hope its not common! No screen protector, but I did try one first before first boot. I immediately removed it when the taps weren't working. I'll send it back tomorrow, thanks.
Dont tap. Just lightly drag the end of the stylus around each target until it proceeds to the next one.
It's common and should be fine.
Thanks unwired. Whilst that does get a response from the TyTn II, and moves the align crosshair, unfortunately it just loops the alignment process indefinitely. Arranged an exchange with T-Mobile without a problem

If the future device does it, just try what I suggested but be as accurate as you can.
Unwired's method works for me as well. My Kaiser always seems to lose the ability to detect stylus presses (but finger pressure works) every time I use it on a plane which I assume is due to the cabin pressure. When the screen is reset, everything goes back to normal. Has anyone else noticed this, or do I have some defect that is only going to get worse?
I got the second Kaiser, and it happened again. But I immediatley used unwireds method, this time being extremely precise and only moving the stylus slightly. It works fine now, and stylus accurancy seems to be ok.
I still think it's strange, as I have had an HTC XDA before and a tap was sufficient on the screen align process. Furthermore it clearly states "tap screen" not "tap and drag".
My last three Wm devices (Prophet, Hermes and Tytn 2) have all been reticent to respond to alignment taps... but carefully moving the stylus around the target has always fixed it.

For me it is more like 'tap-and-hold'. I make a firm tap on the '+' symbol, then keep the stylus pressed on the screen for one second, then release. The '+' then moves to the next alignment point.
Just for the record, I think the problem is common!
I've seen many people who have unresponsive touchscreens, and now I'm one of those unlucky people. And nothing works. And I don't have warranty because I'm in a different country than the purchase country and the reseller here only services phone bought in the Middle East. #[email protected]$#@$#@
I have an un-locked TyTn II that has an annoying screen problem. At least once a day, the touch screen will stop working. The device continues to function normally using buttons and/or the keyboard, but the touch screen function is dead.
In every case, I have been able to revive the touch screen by using buttons to navigate to the screen alignment settings and then use my finger to scroll around the screen till it comes back to life. Once the screen alignment program comes back to life, I align the screen and go about my business.
I have a fair amount of Spb software installed, but I had the same problem before installing any of the Spb software, so on the surface, I'm ruling that stuff out.
I have Kaiser Tweak and Paul's Tweak installed.
Any idea's would be greatly appreaciated.
Maybe this thread will help?

Thanks for your reply.
The thread you provided appears to be focused about "complete" freezing. My device continues to work as long as I use buttons and/or the keyboard. Once I align the screen, the device goes back to normal operation.
Does anyone know how to stop the device returning to the Touchflo 3D home screen every time I wake the device up? I have a Touch Pro but no-one seems to know the answer to this in the forum and I guess it's a TF3D issue.
I can't find anything about this on a search, but I'm sure I remember reading about it in the Diamond forum.
It's annoying when it goes off when I'm writing a text message or in a call or listening to music and I have to navigate all the way back.
Same Problem
yes... i have the exact same problem.
To add to it, I've set autolock also. When I'm trying to watch a vedio on you tube, and if it's taking some time to buffer, the phone locks. And upon unlocking, i'll find myself in the home screen... and have to navigate back to youtube menu all again.
Very uncomfortable behaviour, especially when you are trying to show off the features on your phone to friends...
Is this solved in any new ROMs... or is there a tweak for setting this right?
I like the autolock thing - it's great. However when I'm writing a message or something it is so annoying.
Also, because the screen on the Touch Pro goes off in calls, it always goes back to the home screen so you can't see the call status, can't add notes and can't read contacts as easily. More annoyingly, my line of work involves phone systems that require entering numbers a lot so I always need to see the phone keypad. Very annoying.
did you guys every get this sorted. Just got my diamond 2 and I have the same annoying problem
My touch screen on my unrooted G-1 stooped working. The screen display was fine, but touch was dead. Without thinking it through I did a Master Reset hoping it would fix it. It did not and now I am unable to touch (or select) the Android guy to do the initial setup. But after the reset it dawned on me that the trackball is still working, so while the touch screen was not working, I at least could have still navigated and used the phone with the trackball. But the master reset pretty much screwed that up, as the android setup guy requires a real touch, not a trackball selection.
Anyone have any suggestions or recovering the phone to a state that would allow navigation and selection with the trackball. T-mobile is sending me a replacement, but said I could keep this phone. I would like to give it to my son if possible, as even without the touch capability, using the trackball and this phone would still be an upgrade from what he is currently using.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
Jack
If you want to use a google account you need the touchscreen, there is no way around it.
New digitizers are cheap as chips on Ebay and easily replaced following this guide, I have done it MANY times without a problem.
