This has nothing to do with the device or the operating system. It has to do with having the right application.
Use TCPMP with the flash plugins available. Works like a charm.

flashvideobundle only works for the main youtube site, not the mobile youtube site.

mobile version is horrible compared to the real youtube site, that flashbundle really helps plus gives additional working sites that currently work with streaming video and more sites will be added eventually as the project develops

ok, i had this problem wit mobile youtube and cingular video, it wouldnt play and some error messages....so i feel dumb sayin this but, while the video is trying to stream check the settings (options) cuz mine was set to run off "internet" so i changed it to "My media network" and BAM there u go
but wit real player----> first in windows, show all files and sort by NAME then find the file "realplayer" and open it...then just settings and options for sources can be changed

can they be watch on the phone through any browsers? I thought the opera mini would be able to since it is a java based browser but it didn't for me, still told me I didn't have the right plugin or java turned on.
any ideas?
i have yet to get anything besides PIE working with youtube. Opera Mini works inside of the java VM, and Picsel and Opera Mobile just don't work.
You should really use the search feature.
However.
I can view full Youtube videos using TCPMP and FLV bundle. If I click on a youtube link in PIE then TCPMP opens and starts playing automagically. PIE will open 3gp videos in Streaming Media from m.youtube.
http://discussion.treocentral.com/showpost.php?p=1319431&postcount=1
this is the link for unlimited video with youtube on our phones
thanks for the info
when i tried to go to youtube in PIE it loads up the program but always give me the error media type not supported
I am going to try the instruction on the link when I get home from work.
anyone got the above method working on a Vario 3 on T-mobile UK web and walk basic? think they might be restricting it somehow.
Try using vTap, it's free and REALLY good in my opinion (it's all in one so you watch the video inside the app, not with external program - although it actually uses tcpmp, but it's embedded)
edit: and it uses less bandwidth (can choose between 4 settings combining normal/better audio, normal/better video... aaah you'll see, it's really great)

The whole reason for me posting this cab is because youtube changed the way that files are played. So the TCPMP and FLV plugins no longer work.
EDIT: There is a new flashvideobundle released fixing the youtube with tcpmp problem.. The link is below. Includes the right version of TCPMP also..

Seems ok for me, it open up stream media player and connecting......, still connecting......, only gprs availble right now, might take a little bit longger time. Looks going to connecting forever!!! No luck!
Could it be that youtube have blocked non-us ip-addresses?
When I click connect it pops up a dialog with a box that has:
rtsp://
In it. I tried putting http://m.youtube.com and rtsp://m.youtube.com - it errors with invalid URL.
Any idea how to proceed?
Found out that some mobile operators doesn't allow direct access to internet, hence rtsp protocol won't work.
However found that tcmp + flashbundle works great.
Note: this is for the non-mobile site, www.youtube.com
Might be a little more bandwith demanding.

Yup, as has also been explained in several of my Mobile YouTube-related articles. Unfortunately, the majority of them use NAT.

I guess it's because Opera Mini re-directs the page to another one which re-processes the page itself so that you can view it on your mobile... Ok, the explanation is not very detailed and professional
Anyway, it works like that.... at least, I read that!

YOUTUBE is not working on HTC TYTN II anymore....

Hi All,
I have been using YOUTUBE on my HTC TYTN II since last two months through FlashVideoBundle.CAB and TCMP and it was working flawlessly until I checked yesterday.
Now I am not able to see any videos on www.ytpocket.com and moreover when I go to main www.youtube.com and click on a video and say either save or play it shows me error message “youtube swf args not found”.
Please help me to sort out this problem.
Thanks.

Are you sure it will not screw any existing applications as i was able to stream youtube before and apart from youtube i am still able to stream videos from other websites like goggle videos, VEOH videos, DIVX STAGE6 videos etc...
It is just a concern.....
Thanks for your help
Not sure about that, guess you'll just have to try and find out.
Just out of curiosity, how do you stream vids from stage6? Is there a plugin or a certain player for that?

I use TCMP and FlashVideoBundle for Stage 6, Just you need to associate divx files with TCMP.
Just as additional information, in the event that someone had the same problem as me.
I had problems through wifi where it failed to connect.
The phone had defaulted to trying to connect through "My ISP" in the streaming media app options. To get it working through wifi, just change the option to connect through "The Internet" and it goes for the wifi rather than the phone network (which I have disabled with Modaco".
I just tried m.youtube.com and everything works as usual. I use HTC Streaming Media, it intergrates with browser perfectly. You can find a cab floating somewhere on the forum.
Sorry to hijack the thread man, but I thought it might be better not to open a new one for a very similar problem.
I had to hard reset my device yesterday and then I've installed everything back.
Now youtube doesn't work as it is supposed to. When I'm watching a stream in landscape mode and I want to see it full screen, it rotates back to portrait.
Before the hard reset it was working just fine. What could it be?
Thanks.
The ROMeOS Rom works very well with YouTube. If you want to try it here it is, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406346. It as actually a very good, stable, and fast Rom. It is on the Lite side and an excellent base to add just what you want in your Rom.

can this be the problem? i dunno how to fix it. so a little help would be great

You Tube Viewing

I have searched the site and found a bunch of threads on viewing you tube vids, however there are so many post edits etc. that I can't follow which .cab etc we are supposed to be using.
I have downloaded that TCMP and the new version of flashget but still no luck.
Can someone that has a tilt please post what they are using and if it works on this thread - many thanks!!!!
I simply go the mobile version of you tube (m.ca.youtube.com). When I click on a video link the HTC Streaming application (which came with my Kaiser) starts up and plays the video. That simple.
Two notes, however;
1) Over my WiFi connection I need to configure my wifi router to put my Kaiser in the "DMZ - Demilitarized Zone" so as to allow full access to the internet. Otherwise the RTSP streaming fails and the HTC Streaming application complains about an inability to access the connection.
2) Streaming doesn't work over GPRS for me. This is most likely due to my cell phone carrier not allowing full internet access (much like when I don't have my WiFi router configured to put my Kaiser in the DMZ).
To use the "proper" YouTube, as opposed to the mobile version, you need these two .cabs:

I have both of these intstalled with duttys rom ver 4 and I still get the "failed to find network" error in streaming media when using 3g att or wifi. I used to have no problem streaming vids (besides it being really slow and chopy) over att when I was using an older duttys touchflo 6 for att.
I searched too but all I found was some blurbs about youtube changing addressed and wifi in DMZ mode (which neither seemed to apply)
but I am a tard so who knows...

ah, try using internet explorer
Follow these steps & pay attention...
Dude, Seriously...You may have read the thread, but you really need to pay attention to what you read. FLASHGET??? FLASH LITE??? Both of these have NO IMPACT on playing flash video.
What you need is:
(A) TCPMP either .72 or .81 (You said you have)
(B) FlasVideoBundle
Instal This:
http://rapidshare.com/files/87945596/FlashVideoBundle.CAB
After installing, make sure that the following files were all copied to the TCPMP root directory (i.e. For .72 \Programs\TCPMP or \Storage Card\Programs\TCPMP or for .81 \Programs\TCPMP\Player):
DiagVL.exe
DisableVL.exe
flvffmpeg.plg
flvsplitter.plg
MenuToggle.exe
VideoLoader.dll
These files must be in the TCPMP directory! It should do it automatically if you use .72. However, for .81 you must copy the files by hand.
After insuring the files have been coppied to the right directory, then launch TCPMP & go to preferences & set the file associations for the flash video, i.e. flv)
Note: without the current version of FlashBundle Youtube will no longer work. I have attached the most current version to the link above.
AND YES, you must use either PIE or (OPERA Mobile 8.65 (NOT MINI) with the macromedia flash player 7).

Dude, excuse the hell out of me...when neither the TCPMP and flashvideo bundle worked - someone suggested flash lite so I installed that as well...I don't think I EVER read where you couldn't use opera mini - thank you to you guys for pointing that out. I will try what you just posted, thanks for taking the time to help someone who obviously "didn't pay attention to what I read"
I can provide some insight, although I really new at this. I installed both cabs and can view all youtube videos through a portal site called ytpocket.com, using the search field at the top. This does not address the larger issue of how to play streaming flash videos from other websites. Specifically, on real youtube, I get the error message "youtube swf args not found" and the title bar of the error message is "VideoLoader." I have no idea what this means.
I also can't get the m.youtube.com site to play videos becuase the Real Player doesn't recognize 3gp files, and my attempts to associate these files with TCMP have apparently failed.
Hope this helps and hope someone smarter than me can solve these two problems! Thanks all.
dt, for the mobile youtube, install htc streaming media

Playing iplayer content on Diamond

I recently came back to the HTC fold after a year of uing Nokias by being given a Diamond for my Christmas and I've given my wife my N95. I have spent the last week searching various forums to try and solve the following problem.
I used to use my old phone to watch programmes I had downloaded from the BBC Iplayer site. I presumed it would be as easy as using Windows media player on my PC to sync the content to the Diamond as I could do with my old XDA Mini S. Unfortunately it's not !! I keep being hit with error messages saying that it requires a licence. I have tried downloading it with iplayer downloader and renaming the .mov file to mp4 which at least gives me picture but no sound on the Diamond. It is all the more galling when I see my daughter just dragging and dropping content onto her Creative Zen mp4 player and it plays without any hassle.
If someone could suggest a simple and hopefully guaranteed method I would appreciate it. I ahve searched the forum for this but all the threads relate to streaming content to the phone. This isn't really an option because I am on Orange with a pretty meagre data package.
Second that...
Yeah, I'd like to know the answer to that one too. I can play iPlayer programmes on the device via the video streamer thanks to the information in this forum, but I get the same lisence error if I try and play a programme I've downloaded on my PC... even though the download actually says it's for mobile devices?
Can anyone shed any light on this?

You'll have to search the forum for that one my friend... I can't remember where I saw the information. You have to update one of the settings in Opera to fool iPlayer into thinking your device is a Samsung Omnia, then visit the mobile iPlayer site and click away. The videos stream throught the pre-installed video streaming app on the device. (At least pre-installed in stock ROM's, if you're using a custom ROM then the cooker may have removed it!)
Happy searching!
The device needs to support playback of DRM protected content, to be able to playback the stuff downloaded from Iplayer. (something like that)
Thanks for that
It's not the streaming of programmes I'm trying to do it's playing files I have already downloaded and want to transfer to my Diamond

Have you tried coreplayer ?
Not the answer to the original question I know but a bit of info for streaming iplayer direct from the BBC website. I use Skyfire browser which is fine, and pretty quick.
Problem resolved
I did as suggested and installed coreplayer and I can play the content. I'll go through what i did because I'm not entirely sure that Coreplayer resolved the problem or no.
I downloaded Coreplayer and installed it on the phone. Because I had deleted the previous downloads I used my daughters laptop to transfer a programme she had downloaded to her Creative Zen. After I transferred it to my phone I went into File Explorer and clicked on the programme rather than opening in Coreplayer it opened in Windows media player. A warning popped up as usual "A licence is required to play this file" and it offered to download it as before. I thought "here we go again it'll fail to get the licence and won't play" but surprise surprise it played fine. Now I'm not sure if Coreplayer installs a codec that allows these files to play or whether the phone got a licence off my daughters laptop that was designed for the Creative Zen but bottom line is that it works. So I'm happy
