I second CurrencyConv. A direct link to the developers website is located here: http://m.mobisapienz.com/index.php?option=com_jdownloads&Itemid=82&task=view.download&cid=51
The great thing about this application is that it has the ability to work as a stand-alone product and as one that updates from the internet. So, in other words, it is a great application as it doesn’t REQUIRE Internet access to function, but it has the ability to use the Internet to download the latest exchange rates.
Supports just about every currency (USD, EUR, NIS, EGP, HKD, etc.) -- a must for the word traveler!

Hi hi
I'm quite new with this RSS stuff and was wondering if there're software (preferably freeware) out there that would automatically download subscribed RSS feeds INCLUDING the full content (linked) by the feeds. Basically, I don't want to manually click on the link to get the full content.
Ideally this is what I need:
1. Sync & charge my kaiser at night.
2. At 7am morning (while Kaiser is connected with ActiveSync & Internet),automatically download latest RSS feeds.
3. When I leave home, I'd have my Kaiser loaded with current news.
4. In the train, I would open the RSS reader, and see all the headlines, when I click on the headlines.. I get full content of the news (ie. not just the header/summary) opened through Opera/PIE.
Any helps/comments/suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Personally I use SPB insight, does exactly what you want, downloads the full content and not just a header, spb insight apparently works with special channels, for the full news, so I don't know if your channels would be included, tho all the major ones do.
I use "RSS Hub" - do a search here for it and you will find it. It is free and does what you want.

I've tried it, but as you said, it doesn't download the full news (for the channel that I'm intrested in - NZ Herald), just title, summary, & links.

Have tried this as well, again, it only downloads title, header, & link.. not the full content (what's behind the link) from the source.
Have you tried Egress? I have used it for a very long time. I tried others but always came back to egress. It can be found at www.garishkernels.com. I think you can have it download the full article, but have not investigated the feature.
the issue is probably not with the reader itself, but with the feeds. Most news agencies will only publish the header in the feed because they want the advertising money.
If anyone has recomendations for news feeds that are full text I would be really interested.
I personally use Newsbreak, I have tried RSS Hub and Egress, but neither worked as well with all of the podcasts I download. Specifically with Buzz out loud these two would have to actually access the article to download, whereas newsbreak automatically downloads all podcasts I grab.
Otherwise Ive only really found blogs that give full text, I do wish CNNm etc would switch to full text feeds.
Cheers
Matt

I remember when I had my BlackBerry and upgraded to the 4.5 OS, Docs to Go was included free as part of the OS applications.

Then a process of elimination leaves you with Docs To Go.
Has anybody tried it? Bit of a challenge to buy it since paid apps aren't available in Canada, so before I go to the trouble, does DTG support any real document formats, like ODT, or is it strictly limited to microcrap?

I bought it. No, at this time, it is not as good as the Palm or other version, but it works. I use it to read and edit my MS Word documents. I also used it to open a Excel document, but that really doesn't matter to me too much.
Just for you, I tried, it said it cannot open because it is not a valid MS Word 97-2008a.
Thanks for checking. Guess they won't be getting any money from me.
You know they will end up making google docs. One day.
Or you can use Shead Spreet app....I think it will read in excel data.

I agree... they need a mobile version BADLY!!!! The funny thing is, I believe Google docs. works with Windows Mobile and not Android. That is more of a browser thing but still. Its just plain stupid!!! And why does the Sapphire have a pdf viewer and the G1 doesn't?! It's about time for another RC update so JF can return to do work his magic.

I been thinking about getting that one. How well does it handle larger files (lets say ones larger than 1-2 MB?)
Google docs is pointless since it depends on a network connection. It also puts potentially security sensitive information out of your personal control (which is almost always against the rules when dealing with other people's data).

I believe they would need to make a offline Google docs app, kind of like the offline gmail app they built.
GDocs now on the marketplace. Not made by google, but looks like it has on and offline support. I am downloading it now. oh and its free.
Well tested it out, and does not work well at all, but it in early beta I think it said .21 So it has time, But at least someone is working on it.
just updated and works a bit better, It will not pull down info from the web, and update info from g1. But will not update data back down to g1. only way to is to delete doc off the phone and re download it.

I have docs to go, and it isn't even really noticeably slower opening 2+MB files. It handles them just fine. I even threw a 7MB doc file with embedded images at it, no problem.
I just had a look at that and it has a *very very* long way to go. Its basically worthless and I don't expect it to go anywhere near far enough to actually be useful. I suspect that it was whipped together in about a half hour. All it is is a text editor, it downloads the TEXT from your google doc and stores it in an sqlite3 database file. No formatting or anything. It doesn't even save the odt file to local. I seriously doubt that the author has the skills to develop a full word processor.

Hi guys,
first of all apologies for advertising this little software I wrote on these pages. If it isnt allowed, mods please remove this.
I have recently published a little app I wrote. Name is TellyZap and you can find it on the market in two flavours: a Lite version and a Pro version.
heres the Lite version:
http://www.androlib.com/android.appl...lite-xtxq.aspx
and the Pro:
http://www.androlib.com/android.appl..._pro-xtxj.aspx
They both support 67 channels, european channels for the moment, however I thought that with satellite/digital becoming very popular very quick, some europeans could have a use for it too.
TellyZap allows you to view a full programme listing for the 7 days from the date of consultation. Has categories (soap, documentaries, movie etc..) and will give you a description of the program, time, channel etc.
the Lite version is limited to the day of consultation, and will not show the programme description, but only its title and time of airing.
The Pro version allows also to send a programme to one of your contacts in form of an SMS or Email. It also allows you to send your favourite programme to your calendar so you wont miss it !
I hope some of you will try it, and let me know your feedback. If you find any issues/bugs or have requests I will be glad to entertain them, just drop me an email at the address specified in the market, of pm me here.
And if you find it useful, I wont stand in the way of a little contribution for my work.
thanks for reading!

No but there ought to be. I use gdocs which is decent and free. And I have documents to go which only views docs but I purchased the second docs to go app to unlock document editing which ive had a favorable experience with. As far as I know those are the two options for editing documents...I think docs to go (editing version) was $20 when I bought it but may be cheaper now. I've used it maybe 5 times to edit docs and its worth it to me.
Also I've even edited docs remotely on my laptop and my desktop with phonemypc ($10 I think), one of my absolute favorite apps and I'm pretty picky about what apps I keep....
