Has anyone found a way to configure messaging to use different SMTP ports than the default TCP/25? I've tried searching the registry, to no apparent luck (although I may have missed something).
We run our SSL IMAP on TCP/465, and with the "enable ssl for outgoing" it still tries to connect to 25.
This is on a hideously hacked ROM based on Alex.v5.ATT.161.UltraClean.ROM, FWIW.
How are you currently trying to assign ports? I don't remember if I've tried this on a PPC it like the following:
imap.servername.net:465

Yep, tried that. Blows it off completely. I even tried using IPort rather than DNS Nameort.
For the life of me, it seems that SMTP is harcoded at 25 regardless of the SSL flag.
Unfortunately I'm not sure. I don't have an IMAP server to test on right now.

Hi experts!
I need a little help in this one.
I want to access to my hotmail account in my inbox on my HTC.
I can only access to ports 80 443 and 8080
I have already tested httpmail Provider (which need a hotmail Plus subscription and I have only a @hotmail.com mail) ,and it crash with a Logging On and a screen with :'The server returned an invalid response (with a lot of jibberish **** and a (80042003), Error Source:HTTP Status :Logging On
I have already tested pocket hotmail 2.5 (it doesn't work ,it doesn't pass the Logging In and I get a: 'connecting to server failed)
I read some stuff about mail2web(actually good) ,with a not pratical solution ,going through hotmail->izymail ->gmail ->mail2web
but izymail doesn't keep a record of the mail, and most important thing it's not free.
So, what can I do ?
I know there is a HTTP way to get the mail (http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp)
With the Peracount app ,i would like to see if I'm receiving some mail.
Thanks in advance!

I velieve I installed windows livw from a cab I found on here. Let me knowi fyou cannot find it. Search for Windows Live 10[1].6.33.0600 (Fixed).zip
Windows Live for Windows Mobile
Microsoft actually makes it easy this time, though this page is not easy to find. Just load Windows Live for Windows Mobile and you are fixed.
Also it allows you to use your hotmail contacts and to save you phone contacts to hotmail
https://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/mobile/wl/download-en-us.mspx
I have tested both solutions:
As I said before ,I can only surf with ports 80 8080 and 443.
With Windows live (the fixed and with the link) I cannot pass the Checking Internet connection (I have one,I was surfing to test it).
I was thinking develop a small app which connects to the HTTP site and try to catch if there are any new mail and put it on the today screen.
But I cannot believe there is no solution for my problem.
Could you give us more details about Windows Live app not connecting. I use that app for my hotmail and it works flawlessly.
Whose your service provider? (IE, T-Mobile, at&t)
I'm on a french provider : SFR .
The problem is that I cannot pass the Checking Internet connectivity.
I think the problem is the port (it must be testing another ports rather than 80 8080 or 443).
I think his internet connection is wap based (via proxy) and that's why he can't pass the internet connection check
Yes ,I think that's the problem.
That's why i was wondering if a small app cannot go to the hotmail site (http) and catch some information
Are your connections settings using a proxy server?
Yes ,it is using a proxy server to connect to Internet ,and then it blocks all ports except 80 8080 and 443
hey, had same exact problem. on tmobile USA's tzones plan it uses a proxy connection so windows live doesnt work. after lots of time, i finally figured out one way that works perfectly. first, you have to upgrade to hotmail plus. you can now set it up like any other pop3 email account. search google for hotmail pop3 to find the settings, otherwise ill post them for you when i get home. this is the ONLY way i ever got it working. good luck
Is there any way you can set up a connection profile without using a proxy server?
With at&t for example, connecting via a proxy is only necessary for accessing the Media Net home web page.
@ omaralt :
Hotmail plus is free ?
@GWelker62
All data must pass via the proxy
no, its $20/year, well worth it for me

Bummer.....
I would suggest spending the pocket change like omaralt suggests, and get hotmail plus.
AT&T Tilt won't connect to GPRShttp://forum.xda-developers.com/newthread.php?do=newth
I've been having problems getting my unlocked AT&T Tilt to connect to T-Mobile's GPRS data network. I've done the necessary connections setups, including entering the proxy server settings (216.155.165.050:8080, etc) as well as running the disablehiddenproxy .cab in the Windows folder, but it just won't connect. And, when it appears to have connected, I can't access any websites. Every attempt simply ends up with an error message with something like 0x8008000. Google Maps won't work either, so the issue isn't limited to PIE.
I've entered the same settings on multiple phones in the past, including two HTC phones (Dash and Wing), so I know I didn't mess up on any obvious settings. I don't know what could be wrong. Has anyone experienced this before, and if so, what did you do to fix it?
Thanks.
Anyone? So far still no dice. WiFi works, though, which I guess is something...
EDIT: Nevermind, I think I got it. Apparently I needed to clear the SOCKS proxy setting. It's news to me, as I didn't need to do that before on either the Dash or the Wing.
Anyway, if anyone else is having the same problem, here are the instructions (specific to the proxy settings) I found and followed to get it working:
Go to set up proxy server
Check box that says “this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet”
In the proxy server type 216.155.165.50 (you might want to highlight and copy because you will be using this setting 3 more times)
Tap advanced
Tap HTTP (if the server is not filled out paste the proxy settings in the step above in the server box) and change port from 80 to 8080 then hit ok.
Tap WAP and paste or type the same proxy server (216.155.165.50). The port should automatically say 9201. Leave this as is, then hit ok
Tap secure wap and paste or type in the server settings from the last 2 steps. The port should say 9203. Leave as is as well and hit ok
Tap Socks and clear the server setting. The port should go away. Hit ok, and you're done.
Hi
I've been trying to setup an IMAP account on the built in email. But can't seem to connect to it, it says:
"Cannot connect to the incoming mail server. Be certain that your login information is correct, then try again to send and receive email"
But I'm definitely sure all email account info is correct.
Wierd thing is, when I go back to the email Accounts setup, I notice the password there rather than ******* 7 characters long password it is like ********************** 20 characters long. I've tried changing back to the real password, but still don't work and if I check the Accounts setup again, the password, again shows really long like ***********************
I've tried accessing my IMAP email account through the internet on the phone via Opera, and that's working OK.
Any ideas?
Mmmm...
Can't really help you with your settings, but I can answer one question for you. The masked password is always a long string of ****'s. This is so no one can guess the actual number of characters in your password.
I've never set up an IMAP account, as I use POP3. I had an issue years ago when I was first trying to figure out how to set email up on these things, but I'd just got the incoming pop address wrong. I went on the internet and Googled the proper settings. Sorry I can't be of any more help
During the email set up there is a link for Advanced Server Settings. There there are settings for Require SSL for Incoming/Outgoing email. You might try toggling those. It depends on the IMAP server setup. Which IMAP server are you trying to connect to? I run my own IMAP server. The difference between IMAP and IMAPS (i.e. with SSL) is that you connect on a different port. If your IMAP server only accepts IMAPS then it's listening on one port but you're asking on another.
I've noticed that the email doesn't work when using activesync for network, but it's fine if using WiFi for example.
Actually, the problem is probably Activesync itself, as I have network problems with it... Activesync seems unable to remember proxy settings, its like it works after the initial setup , for a few minutes, then any proxies that were setup there are gone a few minutes later, just dissappears and consequently the network won't work anymore until I manually set it up again
I've searched the forums and I can't seem to find a solution to the fact that I can't download weather data while synced at work behind a proxy server. I'm able to connect to the Internet from IE and Opera with the correct Proxy information set in my Connection settings tab.
From my home wi-fi or home activesync, I connect fine, because there's no proxy required. Because I don't have a data plan, and I can't get the weather to update through my proxy at work, I'm limited to updates while I'm home.
Has anyone found a solution to this proxy authentication problem? Thanks!
The problem can be related with "Proxy manager". Try to disable proxy, it's in "Tools" section of "Programs".

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, EnergyROM doesn't have a "Proxy manager" folder under "Tools". I did, however, have the cabs for remove and restore hidden proxy. I tested after each install, but had no luck, although all my other Internet apps still connected fine.
The specific error I receive is:
Connection Error
There was a connection error while attempting to download weather data. Retry?

May be your proxy server is banned by weather data provider
It is more likely that the provider is blocked by my corporate proxy. Where do I determine the url used for the weather feed so I can test from my PC?
Edit:
OK. If found the url. It is http://weather.not2advanced.com/htcweather/forecastdata.php?ac=XDADevs&locCode=%25ls&version= 1&device=innovation and I'm able to access it just fine from my desktop to which I'm synced. That puts the problem back to the application, in my opinion.
I suspect it could be related to the information located in the [Sep-14-08] HTC Weather Proxy Patch thread that with this fix, but there have be no updates for for TF3D or sense editions. I'm wondering if no one else is having the problem?
So... nobody else has encountered this issue?
Try AccuWeather.com service.
http://www.htc-touch-info.com/en/weather/
Thank you for you response. But I'm confused. How does changing the location of the server change anything if the weather application can't get out to it in the first place? Here's what I mean. While synced with my PC, I can open the above url in pocket IE and see the resulting xml data. This would mean my phone can resolve and receive data from the url through my corporate firewall, yet the manila weather still receives the 'Connection Error' when using the same address. To me, this suggests that the weather application isn't using the proxy settings specified in 'Settings->Connections->Connections->Edit my proxy server'.
Maybe I'm wrong. if so, perhaps you could explain it to me so I can understand.
Thanks again!
Roger
same here!
Same here, im using the same rom as u and Im having the exact same problem and its driving me nuts cus i really like this rom...but i like the weather updates 2!
If u get a solution pm me plz!
Cheers
no solution till now?
i have the same problem with my HTC TD2, Opera or iexlore are going fine through the proxy settings as i'm connectet via USB at work.
but all other applications don't (wheather update, GPS Tracks, Geocaching,...)
on Android systems there is a solution called TransProxy but not for WM6.5
Udo
There is a program called ProxyCap that has a decent version for Windows Mobile - http://www.proxycap.com/download.html
It's only a 14-day trial though =( But seems to be quite powerful. You could possibly also use it as a rule-based firewall, by forcing a certain port range or exe to use a proxy server that doesn't actually exist
It works well for me, when testing a SOCKS connection to Tor, but it only supports SOCKS4/5 and HTTPS (not standard HTTP) so now I have to install Secure HTTP support on my SQUID server! I haven't touched that thing for months!
So I have a Trixbox server I'm trying to connect to. I've used 3CX, Sipdroid, etc. with no issues but would like to try it native. I add the IP address of the server, my UN and PW and try to make a call. Regardless of whether I'm trying an extension on the box or a regular number, it says "Called from outside...(cuts off)".
Any ideas?
To clarify, I'm referring to the built in SIP client.
same deal with me. i've tried onsip and an internal asterisk server. seem like garbage.
Might be a setting in Asterisk. I ran into this same issue over the holiday weekend and got it fixed with this post:
