htc orange
hi thanks for the reply my htc dosent have htchome it only has htchomeplugin is thire any way i can get it
Read the forum, learn how to hardspl, CID unlock and flash and then you can untie yourself from the orange bloatware and find yourself a new ROM that has HTC home as well as a ton of other things Orange didn't put on it.
Alternativly search the forum for keywords of something laong the lines of HTC home .cab and see what you can find.
you dont even need to search the forum for this one you can find it from google
I managed to get rid of the orange software on mine and its worked better than ever...ps i work for the company lol
found this
http://freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-htc-home-plugin-v2-1.html
it worked well thanks to all that left advice

I'm a windows mobile newbie and wasn't able to find the answer performing a forum search, so hoping someone here might be able to help me clear up my confusion between: 'HTC Homescreen', 'HTC homescreen plugin', and 'HTCHomeplug'.
When I go to: Start > Settings > Personal Tab > Today > Items Tab . . . both 'HTC Home' & 'HTCHomeplug' appear as items of which can be checked/unchecked.
It's my understanding that the Tilt includes only the at&t version of the HTC homescreen (today), and that changing it to look like the original Kaiser's requires installing an 'HTC homescreen plugin'. After installing a 'HTC homescreen plugin', 'HTC HTC Home' now appears in the Tilt's 'Remove Programs' option list: Start > Settings > System > Remove Programs.
Questions:
1) If the "HTC HTC Home" program is removed, will the (today) homescreen then revert back to the at&t version of the homescreen again? If not, how (short of performing a hard reset) can the at&t version be reinstalled again?
2) Is it also recommended that "HTC HTC Home" be removed BEFORE installing any subsequent 'HTC homescreen' plugins?
3) In addition, it's my understanding that the 'HTCHomeplug' merely displays icons for battery level & screen orientation so pretty much redundant to include on the Today Screen, as these functions are already included in the available 5/6 tab HTC homescreen plugins. Are there any special functions/features in the 'HTCHomeplug' not avaialble in an 'HTC Homescreen' plugin?
Thanks for all feedback and advice.
Jazz
I think you are a little bit mixed up, or at least I was reading that.
The one that comes with the Tilt: "HTCHomeplug"
The one that comes with the Kaiser: "HTC Home"
The HTCHomeplug cannot be un-installed thru Start>settings>remove programs. The only way the remove the HTCHomeplug is to either manually delete the files or install a cooked ROM.
To answer your first question, the HTCHomeplug is not dependent on the HTC Home add-on whatsoever. If you remove the HTC Home add-on it will not revert back to the HTCHomeplug unless you tell it to. The HTCHomeplug can be displayed at any time, even if HTC Home is installed, they 2 completely separate programs.
marm0lade,
Yep, apparently I was 'completely' mixed up about all that, so a great big thanks to you for straightening me out with the clear explanation.
Now, if I can only get my (6 tab) HTC Home plugin's: pic-touch call feature (home screen tab: 2nd to left) to link to another phone number in the contact's list other than their 'mobile phone number. Is this simply a problem only with the version of HTC Homescreen I installed, or is this a universal limitation of all 'HTC home' plugins?

I don't know about linking directly to another number, but if you click and hold on the contact, it will open their entry in the contact list, allowing you to choose a different number (or send sms/mms/email).

As a PocketPC Phone & WM newbie with very much to discover & learn from the experts here about cooked Roms etc, I too opted not to flash my Tilt's rom (yet) either. On the other hand, I removed all at&t bloatware, and thus freeing up LOTS of on board memory, by performing a hard reset, and then pressing the reset button during the 3 second countdown, right before the at&t bloatware gets installed.
After that, I got 'HTC Home' d/l link (here) of which also includes two other cab files (Cert_SPCS & sdcerts) to utilize only if you have installation problems. Because I had no problems, I only needed to copy the "Kaiser.HTC.Home.v2.0.814.722-schen.cab" Cab file to the tilt, and then use the file browser point to the cab and install it. After installing, I performed a soft reset, and now have both an impressive looking & customizable HTC Home screen. This version of "HTC Home" is definitely a keeper.
Jazz.
sooo...does this mean i can just install a htc theme over everything else? or do i have to do the hard rest/soft/etc etc?

Grandsuke: unlike the HTC Kaiser, the Tilt doesn't come preloaded with "HTC Home" , so if you've not installed it on your Tilt before, go ahead & simply install without a hard/soft reset. For people who've already installed another version of "HTC Home" on their Tilt, I'd recommend removing it first, then perform a soft reset, and then reinstall the new version of "HTC Home". Jazz
Can this be used on other HTC or WM5 products like the Cingular 3125 (Star 100) which is the smartphone edition?
Hi there, Can anyone help me out.. i got the HTC TYTN II from ORANGE - UK and they have installed their own HOME PAGE which is CRAP. How do i get the original HTC Homepage Back. Any advise will be appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

Same problem! Why mess with the HTC Home one and put in an Orange-branded one that's inferior?
Someone out there must know?
Goto Settings -> Personal -> Today -> Items and deactivate the Orange Item, that's it.
Cheers xtin.
What I'm really looking for is the HTC Home application(?) where favourites, weather, etc. are all located. Can't find this on Orange-branded phone.
Hi dude, look in the thread titled all HTC applications, I think it is a sticky on here!
Download the cabs to you pc then put them on the phone and install them
I hope this helps
Spot on, cheers mate.
I'll search the 'stickys' properly myself next time as I progress from virgin noobie...
Sorry to be a bit dim but I cannot find the HTC apps sticky, any chance of a link or the download posted here

Close this thread and look up. It is titled:

G
HTC Home Plug v1.6 [eng] from the Sticky: "All the Latest HTC Software - in one post"
Anyone else who was a complete noob at this like me, dont unzip and copy files to phone then look for a .cab file. just copy the zip file and run that on the phone. Took me hours to work that out.

1. Yes, look in these forums for the HTC stuff, think its a sticky. Just cabs you install to get the htc today theme and HTC Home etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344544
2. Not going to answer that one
3. Search using google for S2u2. That is the slide to unlock app that is freeware for your device. It works well on my TyTN2.
thank u for ur super fast answer
ill start with number one and work my way down thn
where are u from ?
is urs a orange tytn II as well
Kent in the UK and yes mine is an orange provided one, although the ROM is now the HTC one and unlocked with my O2 sim in it.
right i dl the aplication but where do i put it on the phone
which app are you referring too ?? the HTC Home or the S2U2 ?
I believe both are .cab files, so you would need to setup an activesync connection onto your pc with your phone, then you can explorer your phones disk and copy it from pc onto the phone (somewhere like my documents). Once the .cab files are installed on the actual phone, using the phone goto the file explorer program, navigate to where you put the files and click on the respective one once.. it should trigger off the install of the relevant software. follow instructions on screen and then they should be installed.
HTC Home is a Today plugin which you can access from Settings/Today/Items. S2u2 is accessible to configure from the Settings (can't remember if it was personal or System tab) but you should get a s2u2 folder in one of them. you can go into that and run the app to set it up..
Its worth mentioning I find it useful to do a restart of the phone after installing apps to make sure all these links appear.
p.s if your phone borks because you isntall these I take no responsibility
cool just got the htc home to work
looks so much better than the orange one
right time to work on the next one
i have had a good look on this forum
and wanted to know how i can edit the htc home screen
i wanted to change the icons to the ipone ones
im sure there was a programme i can use for tht
also the s2u2 i have read bits on it not working very well
just wondered if its all fixed now ?
s2u2 was pretty stable on mine when I used it (removed it as it blocked my SPB time alarms I set).
to customise HTC Home you need, HTC Home Customizer. Just google and you will find it.
that is a good programme the htc customizer
any others people would suggest ?
i have been looking for tht background they have on the ipone
the fish in the water one
Hi all,
I have an o2 xda mini-s and yesterday saw a mate who has one which was running HTC Home and looked really smart.
I have spent the morning reading the forum and other articles but although I have downloaded the HTC Home configeration programme and can set that I dont have the HTC Home option on the Program - settings - today - item page.
I am using wm5 if that helps everything i downloaded went to the device and default location was that the right thing to do?
If anyone can help me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Paul
There are two files you need to download and install if you want to have HTC Home - and customize the home view.
There is the HTC Home, and the HTC Customizer cabs - did you install both ??
Hi Bill,
So far I have downloaded hhcv10final.cab and also htchome6.cab are their any other files i need?
Paul
I think the problem may be the WM6 file you downloaded
I've posted a link to the site where the version for WM5 can be downloaded. I've had no issues running this version
The only other thing I can think of is did you soft reset after installation ??
Here's the link - give the 1.5 version for wm5 a shot
Good luck

Brilliant - thanks that has worked amazing what happens when you download the right file
