is it so bad to let other people know about it who otherwise might have missed it, and ask for their respected opinion.
i started the other thread in kaiser forum.
hope you had your "fun" with it.
will tell you next time.. NOT.
greetings

Whats your problem? I thought I had a funny post. Did I say anything bad to anyone??

zooming
from what i read and saw in the vid, no zooming ==> not that very practical

It does zoom though...anyone out there have a cab yet?

Definitely Not Awesome. Quite Lame In Fact!!!

Hey, I thought you showed great restraint, considering there is a SOFTWARE board. BTW, you know his problem....Nothing better in life to do???
Anyway, looks like this is just a crappy interface for PIE.
Did anyone other than myself read the manual?
From the manual:
"Why do some pages display incorrect? TouchBrowser uses the Pocket Internet Explorer to render HTML pages. It's a new user interface on top of an existing browser. TouchBrowser renders pages exactly the same as Pocket Internet Explorer. Pages that Pocket Internet Explorer can't handle correctly (like websites with Flash, or with complex layouts) are also rendered incorrectly by Touchbrowser. If you're looking for a browser that can handle these websites correctly, Touchbrowser is not the thing you're looking for, but we advice Opera or a similar browser based on a more modern rendering engine."

From PPCGeeks:
Definitely not a welcome product. Developers, if you want to get paid, develop real, self-sufficient software. Piggybacking on existing software is a waste of your resources.
Beware, this is not a browser. It is only a user interface a la PointUI. TouchBrowser is a UI that uses PIE to render web pages and is not likely to produce an iPhone like experience as it's website states, especially since PIE does not render tables as mobile Safari does. The company tells on itself in its own manual. To add insult to injury, there's a $14.95 charge to use the UI.

Yeah I was quite disappointed. The site states that it uses the WebKit engine, which is the one used by Safari, and therefore it's supposed to be a better browser. It apparently doesn't if it renders with PIE.
Edit: And the whole reason why I am looking for another browser is because I DONT WANT TO USE PIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

opera 8.65 suits me just fine, haven't tried the newer release yet

I am still waiting for Skyfire

I emailed them about a trial version and they responded that one should be available next week.

vnc client???

does anyone know of a good vnc client for the t-mobile wing??? any direction would be great... thanks in advance...
bennie
by the way, im looking for a freeware client...
::EDIT::
sorry for the double post... i thought it would auto-merge...
I Googled for "Pocket VNC" and this - http://dotnetvnc.sourceforge.net/ - was the second or third result.....looks like it'll do the job...and it's free....
(There's plenty of other alternatives returned by the above search; you might want to investigate some of those too? And if you find something that rocks, post back so the rest of us can share your findings )
Mark.
i searched in the past and downloaded a few that i wasn't particularly impressed with... i guess i should have clarified my question a little more...
i did find this one after digging a little more...

Yeah, I spotted that one, but as no-one's touched it for 4 years I figured it wouldn't be up to much - the site doesn't mention WM5, let alone WM6 so I reckon it'd be pretty shaky....YMMV
I'm sure there's loads of VNC clients around for Smartphone/PPC - everybody and his dog has done a version for Windows (and I've even used a version on HP OpenVMS )
Mark.
its working just fine... in fact, i tried a few others that didn't allow me to use my keyboard and/or mouse to take control of the host... this one does all of the things that the newer ones didn't... im very pleased thus far...

Good Snes Emulator for Kaiser?

Does anyone know of a good SNES emulator for the TyTn II? I have already searched the forums and have found that most of the posts about this subject are quite dated. I am currently using PocketSnes by Bleeding edge, but the sound on this emulator is of poor quailty. Also, for some reason, this seems to run remarkably better on my Mogul? I have downloaded different versions of this software, apparently 'upgrades' and they do have more game compatibility, but they sacrifice alot of FPS (about 5, but when your only getting 30 FPS, 5 is alot.). SnesJ4U also seemed like a good alternative, and the sound on it is beautiful, the problem is, iirc, that it doesnt allow for a boxed-landscape display. Does anyone know of a good, up-to-date emulator that can hit over 35 FPS on a TyTN II, not overclocked and running the previous HTC ROM (the one before WM 6.1) and run in boxed-landscape mode?

The reason threads regarding this topic are dated is because people read them and don't find a need to post a new thread. CLICK HERE
No offence, but that search link was the exact thing I searched for and it didnt help much. And your post, by the way, does not seem to make sense.
People say not to make new threads if there is already an existing thread about a subject. By your logic, if a subject has no thread made about it, then it is not important. Should people just never make new threads? This has only now become a problem because the older emulators do not seem to run well on current HTC phones for some reason, in fact, alot of my programs seem slower. I was wondering if there are any newer alternatives yet and since I have found no information about that from the search function, I figured it was worth posting about. But, anyways, thanks for your help.

Damn... you get 25 FPS?? I'm using MorphGear... and although i don't have a fps counter, i think i'm having less than 14.
Anyhow... at least with morphgear.. although the sound is great (16bit, 44100khz, stereo, interpolated, echoed etc) the speed sucks. even if i disable sound completly... the speed sucks. tried with SM All Stars, and Chrono Trigger.

If you post in a existing thread it brings it to the front of the line...
Actually, im getting around ~30 FPS average, ~20 FPS in some of the slower parts of games and shooting to ~40 in faster parts (with minimal action). Most of these tests have been done with Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana, They were run when I completely disabled sound though. I also recommend against using n0p's Snes ports. I dont mean any offence to him, but his roms seem to be a trade-off in performance for compatibility. Im running my emus on an AT&T Tilt with a 5200 chipset, I have a 5201 it runs the games about ~1-2 FPS faster on average, nothing amazing. I thought that by now there would be a better (updated) version of PocketSnes that could emulate sound like on Snes9xJ4U. I still have to try running them with another ROM, but im not flashing my device till next week (long story).
I got my current emulator here http://paqpark.nuclearfallout.net/projects/pocketsnes.php
snesx9j4u would be awesome if you could get to play in landscape but is not as compatible as morphgear and as far as speed you to use shogunmarks rom of death no offense to anyone else that cooks but for me that rom is definitely faster that the others. once again i totally respect and appreciate all the people
here at xda developers with out them my tilt would be useless
cook pocketsnes into a ROM
Thanks for the tip, neva dinova, I will try out that rom first thing next week and see how everything runs.

this is not that he is saying, and if you're assuming this is so, i dont think you understand the etiquette of this or any other forum. What he is saying is if someone posted a topic that says "how to i accomplish A" its bad for you, or anyone else to come in after the fact and make another post with the subject of "how do i accomplish A" version 2. all this is doing is polluting the boards, and creating a lot of excess material that comes up when people actually do lengthy and thorough searches.
If that still doesn't make sense, when person 3 finally comes around as is going to search for the same topic, they're going to find not 1, but 2 topics. now imagine if, on some subjects this were multiplied by 2,3,4,5 or even 10 as far as the search results. it kinda makes searching more time consuming an redundant. Even if you're having some problems w/ a newer version of roms, or newer version of NES emulators, STILL post it in the FIRST topic...all related material should always be in the same post...always
Again, I searched and found nothing. How can you guys not understand that? Its people like you that ruin forums. I am asking a valid question that has not been brought up before and allinstead of actually helping or adding to the conversation you just make useless posts about the search function which I USED IN THE FIRST PLACE. But, if you can prove to me that I used the search function incorrectly by providing me a link to a thread where a topic about this subject has already been created I will admit that im wrong and your right.
i'm not saying you didn't search buddy...but judging by the way you reacted to an above poster, and judging by what you posted in your above post. you didn't understand the guidelines as far as posting. regardless, if you had any questions, you would have been better off first making your reply in the exiting thread, then started a new topic if no replies were made. thats all i'm saying
Okay, I know what your saying, and for the last time, I SEARCHED before posting. Not only that, but I found somone asking the same (or at least a similar) question that I just asked in a thread with a different topic, however, no one has responded to him so far and its been a good half year. I don't have any ideas, just wanted to say I liked the idea. I use Opera and have numerous searches set up but I've always hated how other browsers lack this function, so this would definately be handy as a default search for lesser browsers.
Thought about writing a federated search file for searching from the desktop too?

Omnipresence is one of my main goals. The website looks great on the iPhone and I made search bars for IE and Firefox (my girlfriend uses it on IE, and I use it on FF). I will progressively expand the support to Windows Mobile, Android, Palm OS, OS X and include other languages.
I picked trly.gd as the domain name. It's short, memorable, and makes sense. It can also double as a URL shortener.

Just because an OS doesn't offer what you want, and specifically nitpick at doesn't make it empty. iOS doesn't allow you to change the home interface, does that make it empty? Pretty sure most of the world would disagree... Think the OS is pretty good for me, especially considering it hasn't had a single update yet.
This thread is brilliant!
"it very difficult to use,and poor user interface,."
It's the easiest OS out there! How the hell can it be difficult to use?!?! haha
And what is your idea of a good UI exactly? One that has pages upon pages of Apps? One that you have to go through 7 screens to find the app you're looking for? One that's Laggy as hell when you scroll through the screens?
Get real. Think before posting. If you don't like the OS, fine. Some people dont. Sell it. And next time, read up on a phone/OS before investing in it. But don't make stuff up to try and justify your "i'm angry and want to start a thread with absolutely no value" opinions.

Job interview Qs - need advice

Can all developers please share some information regarding job interviews?
I would like to know how to improve myself in a interview for development and how to improve my answers in order to make myself more appealing.
Here are some questions that i've been asked and would like to know how to improve the answers too:
1) When you need help with coding, what do you do? - what sites do you use? - How do you approach a solution?
2) When do you approach you senior developer?
3) How do you keep up to date ?
4) Give me an example of when you solved a difficult problem using PHP (or whataever language)
Basically many examples need to be given, not sure how to answer them.
There are other questions that I'll ask when they come to mind.
I need some input guys!! or at least guide me in the right direction please

If I do go for a site, I first use Google and anything relevant to what I'm already trying to do to solve the problem. If Google doesn't help, or the answers are too vague and I need something more specific then there's no better help out there than StackOverflow. If you don't know it, get to know it
Also, see the next question.

In the above scenario, after you've tried for yourself for a while at least. A senior dev will get narked if you keep hassling them without at least trying to help yourself!

Learn to prioritise. There's nothing really more to say about that as it's a personal experience thing. Make sure you keep notes of every task you need to do and mark it done when it's done, no matter how trivial it seems. You get better at it the more you do it.

This is obviously a very personal question that no-one can answer for you. I'm not gonna tell you about any projects I've worked on and had to deal with problems because there's no point. If you give it as an example they'll only ask you to expand on it and you won't be able to. Besides, it's all well and good trying to impress, but don't out-and-out lie at an interview. Basically, they just want to know that you *can* solve problems. Tell them something where you learnt something that you were able to use again - it shows a willingness to learn, the ability to understand there are things you need to learn, and that you can grow from such a situation.
Other than that, be confident and remember that they've got you in for an interview because they're already interested. Also, it's not a 1-way street. They might be arseholes that you'd never work for. The interview is as much for you as it is for them.
Not sure if any of that has been any help, but they're my honest answers anyway.
Good luck, and let us know how you get on

In that case, tech blogs with RSS feeds. I use iGoogle as my home page both at home and at work and it has different feeds on there for different bits of tech (web development, windows development, mobile development etc..)
Also, I think confidence is best when it's natural. If you've not got it yet then just keep getting better at what you're doing and you'll eventually get it. I've been doing it a long time now so only get a slight flutter of nerves at interviews. It's normally just a case of answering questions honestly and asking a couple of good ones back and I get the job. There's a lot of people out there doing development work, but not that many that have stuck it out and got actually good at it. Stick at it and you'll become a valuable commodity!

You know the answer to the question about solving a problem was to go to the original source, like wordpress has their own codex/reference site. Php has theirs, jQuery and all that. I use those site but didn't even consider stating it in the interview.

Android Developers Blog
Visual C# News
Windows Phone Developers Blog
jQuery Blog
Just have a search for blogs that are relevant to your interests and most of them will either work as an RSS feed direct, or will have an RSS or Atom link, both of which are perfect for iGoogle (or other RSS readers).
I do use G+, but not in a professional capacity at all. To be honest though, I don't use any social networks for anything professional. I probably would if I had my own business and needed to market myself, but I don't so it's just not relevant.
As for pointers, the only thing I can really say is that when someone presents you with a challenge, look at it as an opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skill-set. I've seen many programmers respond with "Yeah, you can't do it like that. We'll do it like this instead." That's bull. There's virtually nothing you can't make your computer or website do, with just some imagination and perseverance. And it goes without saying, the more you enjoy it the better you're likely to be at it.
So what field are you going into? You said you've been doing it since January, but I expect you've been doing it a lot longer than that. Is this your first time developing as a career?

Do you know what news just made it out Yesterday!! LOL
iGoogle will be removed ! in about 14 months I think...how bad is that, just when I was about to sign up and set myself up ahhhh :silly:
I use to use it but not for productive reasons.
Will need to hook myself up in some other way now.

I know - I saw it this morning when I opened my browser and immediately thought about this thread lol.
I'm gutted as it's the perfect home page for my needs. All their advice about getting weather widgets and looking on the Play Store for replacements has got nothing to do with having an RSS reader home page.
Thanks for the extra links - I'll have a look through them.
