mchapman007, why create another thread? Your thread is pretty redundant also.

Correct, title of thread said it all. "I just posted another redundant thread"

Have a question or problem, try this.

I have been a moderators on several Motorola forums, for a while.
Being new to the Kaiser/Tilt World, I have spend the last few weeks reading.
This forum has an extensive amount of information.
I have found the answers to most all questions by reading and using
the Advanced Search Facility here.
For example:
GPS. I got the error message "could not communicate through the intermediate driver."
In advanced search, I typed "GPS intermediate driver"
Limited it to Kaiser Forum.
Solved problem by changing from intermediate driver to Com4 as posted in answer to a similar problem.
If you use the Search Facility here or at any other forum properly you have an excellent chance of answering your own question.
There is also Search XDA-DEVELOPERS using Google which is a sticky posted by mikechannon.
There are currently 38,641 posts in the Kaiser Forum.
Chances are the question has been asked before.
You can save yourself, the moderators and members a lot of time by searching the forum, before posting.
Just my 2 cents.
Totally agree but some of the people that ask questions are completely new to the Forum society.
It helps if we all show a bit of patience and help them along.
Also just try to do a little myself in mopping up the simple questions that appear. WE all had to start somewhere.
When searching, first make your question broad in aspect then narrow it down as you go along. It's actually a lot quicker than reading each thread through and finding its not what you want!
Totally agree, Farsquidge.
It is just that people do not bother to search for answers.
If you do a search and don't find an answer, by all means post the question.
I can't tell you how many times I have seen the same question asked.

Moderators: can we make the Kaiser Wiki a sticky?

Does it make sense to do this? I think it would really help, but I was wondering why it hasn't been done already. It seems a lot of people here don't even know it exists, lol. Maybe we can make this thread the sticky! Should probably include a message like "Please read before posting."
Kaiser Wiki
EDIT: a Wiki sticky! ha, hey that rhymes! alright, I'm a dork. I know.
Maybe because there is already a link at the top of the page for the Wiki.
That's true, but:
There's a lot of people who browse this site with a narrow field of vision
Many of these people end up asking questions for which answers already exist online
That link does not stand out to the typical new user, it gets lost in the sea of links at the top of the page
The link itself only goes to the general Wiki page, not directly to the Kaiser's
The aforementioned users, I believe, may typically brush off that page as "too confusing" or "useless" since it doesn't take them directly to information about their phone
I think a sticky may help reduce the number of repeated posts, since it would place the Wiki in their field of vision. I don't know, maybe I think too lowly of these users? I just think that with all the top notch work that's gone into the Kaiser Wiki, it's a shame that resource isn't exploited or advertised more than it is now.
But maybe I'm still missing something?
People don't read the stickies either. Some people just don't care and don't read anything. They just post their question without doing any reading or searching, even for the simple questions that have been asked over and over. Yes, it's frustrating. You can't help people like that.
EDIT: Besides, there is already a sticky thread for SEARCHING this site (including the Wiki), and yet, people fly right past that without reading.
done (edited the Google post)
Thank you!
I wanted to add a link to the wiki to my signature but wasn't sure how to get the get a different title for the link. I dug around a bit on the forum help but didn't see how to embed a link in your sig. If someone posts the method, I encourage others to add it to their sig as well. Communication is often more effective when it is delivered more then once, and from more than one source. Plus, I don't think new members (or at least most of them) mean to ask repeated questions but are in general are not yet familiar with forum etiquette.
I think that's a great idea. Although, I'm not sure I'm understanding your question. Are you looking to change this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
to this:
Kaiser Wiki
?

just change to
[ URL="http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser"]Kaiser Wiki[/URL ]
Is this what you asked for? (Result see in my signature)
Seasons greatings,
Hans Olo
Maybe we should encourage more users to put a link to the Wiki in their signatures!

I see all these glorious lists of CAB files that are obviously labors of love but the names are cryptic and there is no description of what they do.
Is there a glossary somewhere or should I write one?

Feel free to make a Wiki of the cab files and their descriptions. More that help the better.

First off, I think its a nice idea what you have done, but in reality how many new-to-HTC-Kaiser users 'n00bs' will actually bother checking up and reading this. Its now gotten to the point that so many new comers come into the forum and ask the same questions over and over again. Is there no other way to do this. I had hoped that a "FrontPage" of sorts could be embedded literally into the main XDA-DEV website on each htc models index page. Like a wiki but one that MUST be read before new members entered the site. This way there would be NO escaping the basic knowledge factor.
The point being that one would have no choice but to be confronted with either yours or one of the other n00bs pages before they entered the main forum.
PS: Hasn't Alex and Skunky done this already via similar methods? Why didn't you use one of the already condenced ones and add on to it.
I hope you except my point of view as simply that and NOT a critisism as its not meant to be.
Cheers dude.

Gwens list is listed in the top, all I did was copy verbatum _Alex_'s sticky. I appreciate all suggestions. No offense taken.

Newbie on forum

Hi guys, Im new on the forum. I have a TYTN2 or Kaiser as I see U call it...
I see alot of interesting things here but dont know where to start... could someone please assist on how & where I could install touchflo on my phone...
Thanx
Welcome to the forum. Before you do anything else, you should aquaint yourself with the Kaiser Wiki article, read the announcement at the top of this forum, and read the stickies at the top of this forum, and the Kaiser General forum, also at the top of this forum. This will help you get to know the forum rules, and answer many basic questions that people have when they first come here. In the case of TouchFLO 2D, one of the stickies contains full instructions on how to install it and contains all files needed.
