Is anyone using it? I just heard about it last thursday. I am using the free version because the only services I need to use are Orb and Youtube. It has some connection issues. Has anyone else experienced this?
Do you mean Kinoma? What are you talking about?

I have the full version, which is awesome. I use it on my mega commute to and from work. The connection issues always seem to happen in the same spots every day. I imagine it has to do with the area you're in. And it's not just youtube or orb. It happens with internet radio and the like.

What's it like for playing WMV video from storage? I'm looking for a better way than Windows Pocket Media Player as I don't like the screen tearing I get at over 15 fps.
Not trying to bring back such an old thread, but I don't want to start a new one since this is already here.
I've been using Kinoma the past week or so and I absolutely LOVE it. I'm using the free version and my connection is STELLAR. I can stream the 128K streams without any bufferring issues 90% of the time, and I never have any issues with the 96k streams. I'm going to purchase the full version so I can get my old Radio stations back and also get access to Live TV and what-not. There's literally thousands of radio stations on Kinoma. I highly reccomend it.

Plus the full version also plays podcasts. No more having to d/l six different media players just to enjoy all your media and online media,
$29.99 is a lot steeper than free, but when you think of what you spent on software for your PC, it is more in line.
I really like also.
Does it utilise the TyTN II's hardware acceleration yet?
I realise that it's pretty good at playing a multitude of media types/sources but does it use the latent graphics acceleration capabilities of the MSM7200 chip in my TyTN II yet? I believe the upcoming Coreplayer 2.0 is planned to do this (even though the current version doesn't). I'm using TCPMP at the moment which limps along with DivX video in the mean time and have no need to play other additional media types.

They do offer TrialPay. I signed up for a RealNetworks (yuk) trial, and got it for free. Canceled the trial the next day.
ASX Support?
I'm using Freeplay. I checked the Kinoma Blog and it says the either Play or Freeplay can handle .asx playlist. I tried Freeplay and .asx playlist did not. I was presented with an "unsupported format" error. Has anyone gotten .asx playlist to work on Play or Freeplay? I need this feature for MS Voice Command to work with the player. VC produces .asx playlists.
Yeah, I agree, Kinoma Freeplay is amazing. They have ALL the episodes of MacGyver! Suddenly I find myself not doing any homework during my free periods. As for the connection issues, I don't have any problems at school, but I can't really even use it at home because of my bad data connection. And as for the hardware acceleration, i was wondering that myself. The actual program menus are animated and run really smooth, so maybe. Also, no screen tearing. Anyway, those are just my thoughts.
Dave
The screen transitions are nearly perfect. I'm going to purchase the full version tomorrow I think. I'll write up my impressions after I use it for a few days.
have it
I have a full version, I like it a lot and i use it as main player, only thing i dont like is even if u buy the full version you still need a vip subscription to use a lot of services! I dont like buying the same app over and over again
I've searched but cannot really find exactly what I'm looking for so I thought I would make my first thread. This is the question, what can you recommend as far as Streaming Live TV via an Application or even using a Browser.
Looking for someones perspective that does a lot of streaming and has tested and perfected their process.
=p
I know you said this is your first thread........
So I will tell you before anyone eats you up, before making a new thread always do a search first. For 3 reason, 1st it will get people from getting mad and not end up giving you anything, second you might even find something esle that you like and for third you might even find what you are looking for.
All I did was take the 3 words from your sentence "Live TV Viewing" and did a search. And look what I found Click Here , and if this is not what you are looking for just keep searching............
I did not mean to come at you as a hard a$$ but just wanted to give you a heads up, just in case you need to post anything else.
@gsessons: That's hardly a good site in my opinion for live tv streaming. It's very hard to find some good streaming applications and sites, even for the computer. I personally use Orb (orb.com) to stream live tv from my computer (which has a TV Tuner that I installed). Orb is the optimal TV Streaming but you will need a TV Tuner to do so.
If you do not have a TV Tuner, SPB Online has several online streams - but none that actually interest me (they just updated the list of available channels a few days ago as well to add more).
Those are my two suggestions - you can search, but as you can see..it doesn't bring up the best results....
slingbox and slingplayer mobile
I use orb, too. You get all of your channels that have at home where ever you go. However you need to have a high speed connection at home and on your phone so no DSL at home. Also you need to install a TV tuner which isn't hard and I think you can even use a usb one.
I have ORB and Slingmobile.
For live TV, nothing is better than Slingmobile.
You get full control of your TV FAST on my sling while ORB live takes awhile to start, no remote control function on remotes for Ondemand channels and such.
Slingbox owns.

+1 Excellent
I agree. Slingmobile is amazing. I have had mine for about 3 years now and used it on a treo, mogul, and now my touch pro. the upfront costs are the only downside to a slingbox. it pays for itself in the long run.
Been looking at Slingbox and having everything DIRECTV has to offer it would make sense to hook that baby up to a Slingbox. =p
Can randomly find a cheap slingbox if you keep your eyes open I've just never sprung to the opportunity, thanks for the advice sometimes I forget you can sling to cell phones rather than just PC's or what not.
yep, Orb and Slingbox.
I was just wondering if there was a way to get a video signal to the Gear VR (Playstation/Xbox etc.) ? I know it wasn't designed for that but obviously it would be really cool to at least be able to use it as a makeshift big screen, like playing in the movie theater.
OK, need your help here, comrades. Got my hands on S6\S6 Edge version of Gear VR. But I have problems with screen mirroring. Tried:
-Pairing with Chromecast. When I use the phone only - everything works perfectly, but just as i'm plugging S6 into the helmet (or glasses, not sure how you peeps call it over here), everything works for 5 seconds, and then picture freezes (on the TV)
-Pairing with TV using WiFi Direct - doesn't seem to work at all
-Connecting via MHL (which Samsung dudes claim to be working, but it ain't)
-Sacrificing chicken, dancing around the TV, screaming "CTULHU FHTAGN!" for an entire hour (doesn't seem to work either)
An interesting symptome - phone was downloading bunch of updates, while it was - everything worked slow (I mean mirroring), with lags, but it was working. Just when everything updated... (see "pairing with Chromecast").
Any advice?
I have the same issues with my chromecast, when i had the note 4 with the gear vr it worked perfect, now i have the s6 edge with new vr headset and picture is delayed and freezes and if you play a movie on oculus cinema it just shows a blank screen on tv. This sucks because i want my five year old daughter to play and i cant direct her on what to press to watch or play games

so, i'm not the only one facing these problems? Good, together we'll find the solution. Maybe you have tried anything, that i haven't?
PWNED
Managed that bastard. Used mirrorop sender for Galaxy and mirrorop reciever for my laptop. Resolution is crappy - but at least it doesn't lag. PWNED!
is it possible to play Back to Dinosaur Island 2 , from Crytek on the Gear VR?
Thanks.
OP - I even tried to play the first one but no luck.
Seems like you can't use anything but the rift to toggle controls. I tried xbox, mouse, keyboard...etc.. no avail.
You can watch it via TrinusVR or Stream Theatre, but you can't do any head movement or tracking as far as I know. Let me know if you find anything else out, though!
