Question answered, tcpmp player works great. Uninstalled divx mobile player and now using tcpmp. Thanks for help
Disregard below:
Hello fellow users and developers at Divx Mobile:
I downloaded the latest divx mobile player (.90) for windows 6 professional onto my htc 8925/kaiser (att tilt) however my videos aren't playing. The demos that come with the player play fine but my movie file (which is a true divx file as i can play it fine on my pc) does not play. The file is 241 megs in size and all i see is the start (2 sec and sometimes not even that)of the film and than the player goes back to the video screen.
My phone still has the stock oem rom/without any tweaks and the os is still oem nothing mod'ed/changed.
Can you please assist as to why this is happening?
Any help will be appreciated. (i love the divx player and i want to be able to use it on my phone)
anybody else having this issue?

Dude, seriously check the links in my signature.
8 posts, 6 threads? that qualifies you as a "Serial Threader"
I've combined the 2 threads (posted across 2 forums) where you asked for divx .90 on your Kaiser. You should have posted your question only once.
I'm glad you found a solution.

so i have tons of vids i wanna put on my wing but idk what type of format my stock wing can play..i have 2 vids that r mp4 that play fine....but when i try 2 put some more they run super slow or i get no image only sound.....any 1 know what other media players are available for the wing???
I would use tcpmp it's freeware and in my opinion by far the best and fastest video player if you just want to watch a movie...just google it and you'll find it
tcpmp is like VLC for the ppc (LOTS OF ANTONYMS)
it plays everything
Listen to the two guys above... The problem with lots of HTC phones is the lack of drivers. They skimped. Fortunately we have the freeware community.
You should also check out the commercial version of TCPMP, Core Player. I used to love TCPMP and never wanted to switch to Core until they rolled out the new ones.
core player is 20 € though. Thats a bit steep !
Ever since I upgraded(yeah right..) to Windows Mobile 6.1 I cant play videos through windows media player. On 6.0 I used to watch MPEG-4, and ASF videos all the time. Since I upgraded though WMP wont play MP4 videos, and ASF playback is so choppy its impossible to watch. What can I do to fix this without installing another media player application?
Custom rom or stock rom?
Carrier branded device, or unlocked htc device?
Edit:
Actually, how about you give us as much details as you can about your device and what you've tried so far
Im using the official Windows 6.1 rom on an ATT Tilt w/o any other apps running. The MPEG files I used to play on my phone before were no longer supported by WMP. I tried re-encoding the files and that didnt work. I tried lowering the quality and that hadnt worked. I searched google and saw that WMP only supported mp3 and ASF files so I encoded the video as an ASF and that worked but playback was extremely choppy. I cant really think of anything else to do so I came on here.

Ok OK....What I want to know is how the hell did you get WMP to play it before????????? WMP doesn't play MP4 never did. Anyway, If you can play the videos you have on the Desktop Windows Media Player, hook up your, open Desktop WMP, hit Sync Tab, Sync your phone(and/or Storage card), select the video to sync list, and sync. Desktop version will convert for mobile version. If you can't play the videos in Desktop Media Player then you'll have convert the video in something it can play. TCPMP and Coreplayer are way better, but I use Media from time to time.

i wish i knew how i got my tilt to play any videos at all. Im 2 seconds away from throwing this peice of sh#$ brick in the trash and getting an Iphone
Hello,
I've been trying to view some WMV's on my Tilt running WM 6.1 [downloaded from HTC for the Tilt]. I cannot see any video in TCPMP .72 or 81, WMP, Pocket Player...they all have the same issue - audio works, no video. Given that no video works in any player, I'm sure it's an issue with the phone missing a codec or something.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I promise that I searched around however I didn't find any threads with an answer.
They should play in tcpmp, do you know someone else with an htc/windows mobile phone that can try to play your vids?
I do, however getting a vid to them could be problematic.
EDIT: Doesn't work on the other Tilt, using Kinoma FreePlayer. Unknown codec.
Is there a codec pack for WM6.1, similar to the k-lite codec pack for XP?
I checked the file properties in WMP and it shows the video codec as Windows Media Video 9 Screen. Shouldn't WMP with WM6.1 be version 10 and include this older codec?
AFAIK is the "Screen" codec is a particular variation of WMV9 for special uses and is not supported on PocketPCs (actually not even on Macs either , only Windows).
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/codecs/video.aspx#Video_Compatibility
I've personally never encountered a video using this codec, most people use the generic WMV9 for everything as it has a lot more support.
As for your videos, you should reencode them to a supported format.
It was brought to my attention that WMP should be able to sync the vids to my phone and in a playable format, so I'm trying that out.
EDIT: Works perfectly. Case closed.
Hi,
I have PDA's for years and have never had problems with video playback (full films etc.)
But the diamond playback is terrible I have tried loads of different roms but it doesnt make a difference.
I've tried using media player and TCPMP 0.72 both video is very jumpy, The same files played great on all other pocket pc's that i have had.
Any ideas what I can do?
Read the stickies at the top.
Thanks will give it a go, But I have the same issue with the Iplayer app. Kind of defeits the object of it if I have to download on iplayer, upload to pc, convert then back onto ppc.
Is there any way round it without converting as like i said the same video files have played perfectly on my last 5 ppc's.
Seems strange that a more powerful one cant play them
Divx do a free mobile player on their site, I use Core player it plays all avi, divx etc and its great its listed below ( FREE to you VERSION ), until someone removes it

You forgot to add: and gives me a ban..
There seem to be loads of flavours of TCPMP floating around but ive yet to find one that does all Im after ....
What im after is the holy grail of video playback, a player that plays:
AVI
MPG
FLV ('all types')
MP4
The versions Ive tried play some FLVs but not others, or AVI but not MPEG.
The version i currently use is GF5500 but its will only play half the FLVs i try - plus it tears a lot on AVI (is this a hardware limitation of the touchpro ?).
Any suggestions ??
The last few phones i have had managed to play most video (the N95 was very good at that) so Im sure that the Touch Pro MUST have the capability for smooth playback surely
Use the cab at the bottom of the first post.

cheers ... but that was one of the ones i tried before - doesnt play mpeg 4 v2 (according to msg i get) and still doesnt play half my FLVs
unless im doing something wrong - which i wouldnt rule out at all
used to run tcpmp 0.82 on my previous Trinity device, not very impressed with it though (could be the slow, older device though).
not sure I can answer your q.
I use CorePlayer, latest build.
Ditto, I use the latest Core Payer and it plays all my video files including all my flvs. There's an flv plug-in for the TCPMP that I never had any problems with either, but I was happy to pay the developers for the commercial product after using their free player for years of viewing pleasure.

TCPMP may not meet all your needs. The link I pointed to seems to be the the best I've found for WM6.1 stability etc. Not sure if you mean WMV9 when you say mpeg4 v2 but if so, you can extend TCPMP funtionality by dropping WM5 codecs into your windows folder.

I also use Coreplayer but keep TCPMP around as I find it best with Orb. Both will play the few .flv clips that I've pulled down from YouTube.
Keep in mind that on Raphael, WMP and HTC Album have access to h/w acceleration in the Qualcomm chipset, and run rings around CorePlayer and TCPMP for supported MP4 formats, including H.264.
We can only hope that CorePlayer will open their wallets to Qualcomm. I, for one, would pay for an upgrade (to my existing corePlayer license).
Cheers
