Its a known issue and it doesn't matter what radio you are using. There is a fix, but it takes longer and is more of a hassle. First I don't know if you have signed up at MyTomTom.com yet or not, but you have to because the version that does work is not English speaking voices, so you will have to download an English voice. Go to the link in my signature under Programs, its called "Working TomTom", download it and install it to the device. If you need help getting the voices set up just let me know and I will walk you through it.
TYKDKobes finally got that installed. hopefully its better then the other navigation softwares I've tried so far.
Thanks will try this, finally got Nav 5 installed, but would like version 6 for newer maps. Sorry to be a bit thick, but do you mean to install the file I downloaded onto my device and the try to install Nav 6?

That CAB is TomTom Navigator 6. So just install it from your device.
Got it working, downloaded voices, Thanks heaps for you help!
In my signature is a link for all the free TomTom voices instead of trying to find them all. Just download the Zip file and extract it to your computer. You will need to REPLACE your current "voices" folder with this one. For instance my TomTom is installed on my Device, under Programs, Navigation, and in that folder you will see another folder called "voices" that is where TomTom stores its voices. All you are doing is taking the one you downloaded and replacing it with the old one. **this will replace any current downloaded voices**
"the zip file is located under cabs"
will install and test the application.
thanks

Hi, can you help me, I'm trying to install Tomtom 6 to my HTC cruise. I keep getting the message to update my ROM, I tried to follow the advice in this thread, but have failed. Can you walk me through it? Cheers
what is the speed of tomtom like on your device mate? mine is painful, screen refreshes every 1.5 seconds, whereas i get 15fps on another sat nav program (which actually holds reception better than tomtom too!)
TomTom support were helpful, told me to hard reset and try again. I think its a software issue with 6.032.
The other sat nav programs arem much more graphic intensive too, so i doubt its the graphics drivers.

Which version of TomTom did you download and install. Usually that error appears when you download the TomTomWWE(World Wide English). The one you need to download and install if you get that error is the Working TomTom CAB which can be found in my signature under CABS, Programs. Should work then.
how do I install the program from you're cab to my HTC cruise? I'm a bit of a novice at this, sorry.
Download the cab file to your computer, and copy it to your Device or Storage Card. Remember where you place the cab file because you will need to open it from you Phone using File Explorer. Now navigate to the file and click on it. It will automatically start to install, usually it will ask you to install to the Device or Storage Card, but this CAB will just install to the Device.
when I do this I get a message 'there is no application associated with..' run the application first, I can't get the tomtom application off my CD? sorry for being such a pain. Thanks for you're help.

Check your GPS speed in TomTom.
Go > Change Preferences > Show GPS Status > Configure > Oter NMEA GPS receiver > GPS baud rate > COM4
The GPS baud rate should be between 4800 and 9600, if its too fast mine exhibits the jerkiness as described in your post.

Kinda confused now. What do you mean you cant get the application off your cd? If you have downloaded the cab then you dont need the CD. After moving the cab to your phone go open it, by using your phones file explorer program(single click or double click) should automatically install itself. have you made it to that point?
This is also a great resource to TomTom 6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330235
I downloaded the cab files from you're signature and then had a list of files which weren't associated with any program (they had the generic icon next to them) I then put all these files on my micro SD and put in my phone. I then went to these files on my phone using file explorer and there was still a list of generic icons. Maybe I did something wrong in the download. I downloaded with winRAR and extracted all the files to a folder on my desktop. I really appreciate you helping me, thank you.

No these files dont get extracted before moving to your phone. When downloaded the file should be a blue file folder icon called a .CAB. Once downloaded take that exact file and move it to your phone. Here is the link to the cab http://www.4shared.com/file/47123724/832a2d34/Working_TomTom.html

Hi all,
I've tried many times to load PHM Registry Editor on my Kaiser with Windows Mobile 6 without success.
Does PHM Registry Editor work with Windows Mobile 6? If not, is there another one that may work?
Thanks,
Phil
Works for me
My installation worked.
mine too.. it is actually one of the few that did work, and pretty good.

It does work, give us some more details and let's see if we can help.
How far do you get?
Is it a Cab or Exe?
Do you get any error messages?
etc
Alternative - perhaps Total Commander using the //plugins directory.

Cheers,

Ok. From this site:
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
Choose this one from the list:
Pocketpc 2002 2003 arm/pxa
Move the unopened cab file to device with AS explorer function.
Tap it to install. (I have mine installed to SD card)
Mike
I have a really good reg editor here if you need it.
(Got it from.... a tool pack)
Since the upload doesn't allow this type of file... i had to zip it
anyway put it on the device of your htc phone and run it from there.
Note: its not an install, its an actual application
Another good reg editor is resco, and total commander.
(total commander's registry is in the root //)
Hi,
Wow, thanks. That worked without a hitch and I opened it up successfully on the phone. Thank you Mike, great help and right to the point. What did I miss? How would I have known that the 'PocketPC 2002.2003 (ARM/PXA)' was the file I needed for a HTC TyTNN II with Windows Mobile 6?
No to look at some of those useful edits, after a complete registry back up of course.
Cheers,
Phil

Just for general info on downloading file types:
Many sites offer a choice of different application file types to download I always go for the CAB file rather than the EXE file. The CAB file you install by putting it on the SD Card and tapping it. The advantage is that if you ever need to re-install you do not need your PC, just tap on the CAB again to install it.
For this and most devices nowadays you should choose:
ARM files
POCKETPC or PPC files (not smartphone)
WM5 or WM6 may also be stated. Most WM5 apps will work on WM6 and many WM 2003 apps will also work.
Nearly always if it's an EXE download then this is meant to be opened on the PC with the device connected by AS or Device Centre. Very occassionally you will come across an EXE that has to be put on the device and then run. (these rare files usually have a statement telling you to do this).
Thanks Mike, great info and very useful.
Cheers,
Phil
Hello all. Just got my phone on Orange and I like it. I have been a Mac-user for the past 12 years so I am used to not tweaking my gadgets. Can someone explain how I install the CABs onto my Kaiser via either my G5 iMac or my intel Macbook. Many thanks
do'h not very sure, but you might want to try the missing sync, grab the latest version, it now supports win5 and 6. basically that's what you need to synch your mac and PDA, but not very sure if you can install 'em through it though
Now how do I find the installed CAB
OK I have downloaded a CAB onto the Kaiser via Missing Sync. (HTC album mui 0419.cab) So how do I now find it on the phone and activate it or any other CAB?
Thanks again
not that hard
I get that you're new, I am too, but try to figure this stuff out by yourself.
Bluetooth should work for getting files onto the phone (my docs/bluetooth)
When you sync to the phone, the PC version is that you see the phone on the schema/folder tree and can choose where to put it.
When you find the cab file, opening it will install it. Generally try to put system specific things on main memory and things like games on a storage card.
Look at some must have threads to find programs that you like and after you figure it out try a hard reset and reinstall things. That will let you keep a stable device.
As for ROMS, I would be careful of even thinking about flashing on a mac unless you find a thread telling you how to do it, you don't want a bricked device.
Remember to search the forums - it's worth your time.
Just mount the kaiser with missing sync. After that, drag and drop the file to a location that you can remember. Once you do that, just go to the file explorer in the kaiser, locate the file, and click. You should be all set.
what about a non-cab files? with an .exe extension, will it be installable trough missing sync?
from what I can remember, Missing Sync is really broken at the moment. (under 10.5).
To install a cab, you just use the tab next to syncronize, what is it, the file tab or somehing?
if it's a .cab, it will be loaded automatically. But make sure there's no spaces/irregular characters on the .cab, otherwise, it won't load the installation, and possibly, the file will not be uploaded at all. I think this is a missing sync bug.
Nope, you're going to have to pull the .CAB out of the .EXE file

Trying to install Tomtom.. After transferring all the files and trying to click "Start" it won't do anything.. all the files are on the SD card.. Anyone help?
ok, so you are saying it installed correctly right? there were no errors after installation? did you try installing to your DEVICE not SD and seeing if it works?
it didnt install at all.. the whole folder is in the Storage card.. and it says to run the "Start" app to install.. clicked it.. and won't do anything..
Go to the root of the card, double click on start.exe, if it runs, create a short. Or find tomtom cab file and install it.

if the folder is empty then yea. i know when i downloaded my map it saved the cab file, try to save that in a spot where you won't delete it (its easier to just reinstall from the cab then find the site to redownload)
The internal GPS in the phone is COM:4 And if you don't have GPStest yet i would recommend getting it, by changing your baud rate you may get a quicker fix, and sometimes TomTom has trouble with getting a GPS signal and running GPStest first will jumpstart your GPS and TomTom will get a fix instantly.
Great, here we go again!
I've been trying to install tomtom 7 on my replacement HTC DIAMOND after successfully installing it on the first phone but it's just wont find the maps.
The same files that I used to install on the initial diamaond and the same ones i'm trying to install on the new device.
The meta file has been created and all that stuff successfully, copied all the files the the internal storage, get my device id to create the meta file, copied the file created back into the map folder, start tomtom "no maps found".
Anyone got any idea what I'm doing wrong or is it that the files used (maps) have already been installed on a previous device?
cheers
You have a new device so a different devicecode. You need to contact tomtom support for a new mapcode.
From the procedure he describes I don't think that this is actually legal...

You sure its the same version of TomTom 7. Tomtom 7 stand alone VGA version is actually different (in terms of meta) than TomTom 7 for HTC Diamond.
Also, ensure your device ID has not changed.

Be aware of that the maps must be in the first level of the folder, not like
maps/maps only maps or whatever your mapfolder is called, usually the name of the map. This is a common mistake.

Yeah - just dump map folders in the root of the Internal Storage/storage card area
Yeap, the maps are in the first level folders on the storage card with the folder for voice & the raster folder.
So would the general consensus be that it should work on the new device ? I mean bear in mind I have installed it on the other device before and now I'm doing the same process on the new device and following the instuctions down to a T.
Hi, as far I know... After installing TomTom 7 you will have a "filename".bif in Program files\Navigator
open the .bif file and you will see your device code, use the code and you should find the cards.

not exactly - at least in my case: did already try that, iGo seems to be installed, but then it refuses to start complaining about "data.gro" which is (do I understand well?) skin. Link to last version is dead, so I dnloaded an older one... iGo started to start and now it kust keeps starting... what to do next? (I went through all sort of uninstalls, deleting iGo folders etc. as recommended there...)

thanks for your support. I have basically done the same, but no success: Here is what I went through so forth:
started here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231208&highlight=data.gro
- download gives you an app, but there is no skin.
- an actual skin that the app expects has broken link
- there is a link to dnload an older version of the skin...which does not work. it ends up at "starting".
- there is an alternative skin - does not work either, wrong resolution - but you can google further...so:
-been here: http://forum.mobilism.org/viewtopic.php?f=709&t=200218 the same skin, but good resolution...unfortunately only welcome screen turnes on and that is pretty much it
could you please link here the actual mariupols skin that IS working on droid3?

So lets go through all the steps again:

4. run it.
I have done all of it, but still stuck up - what am I doing wrong?

Your igo files are on the external sdcard or on the internal storage ?
I choose the latter option, because the non standard mount point name of the sdcard.
So, if you have the files on the SD either copy them to the internal storage or add the sdcard-ext path to the configuration file, before the apk installation. (this one is untested by me but should work)

I did already have iGo files on the internal storage (i.e. /sdcard).
Maybe luboszs Thin 1.7 iGo does not like some of files I got there from the previous install - despite the fact I have overvritten them (is it normal behavior for Root Explorer not to ask to overwrite?)....just in case - would it be possible for somebody to post the whole functional package (w/o maps,of course)?
