Greetings,
I was searching the forums looking for tools to change my today screen. In fact, I have found 1-Home Edit, but it doesn´t seem to work on my Kaiser.
tbh, I just want to change default colors and the background. Are there any utils that would do that ?
Thanks in advance,
search for htc home customizer
haam1978 - search for htc home customizer
He wants to customize his today screen as he said. He didn't say anything about wanting to customize the HTC Home plugin.
That´s right... for example, when I go to settings, today screen, and specify a background, it loads ok, but it appears like Im looking through a smoked glass... I even thought about editing some themes and saving them with the backgrounds I want, but that wouldn´t be pratical.
Reading the description of the 1-Home Edit tool, I found that that´s what I´m looking for, but it won´t work on the kaiser.
Any suggestions ?
In response to the OP, try reading this from microsoft. Personalize the Today/Home Screen.

The 1-Home Edit tool is for Windows Mobile Smartphone/Classic not for Windows Mobile Professional that the Tilt/TyTNII uses.
ok for putting your bakground do the next
open it by the windows photo viewer and then choose it from the option menue to be as a background and then you will get a transperant percent put it in 0 then you will see it as well
for changing the coloures of your bars i think any themes can do that
i hope this is what you mean
I had the same problem about the background, thanks for the info haam, it helped

V bar--- Awsome app, great menu, very fast
downfall ---- The right side is the wrong color unless you use the original windows mobile 5 home screen! We all know that most of use are running windows mobile 6 or dont use the simple blue homescreen
(ive already tried to make a new .bmp image, it doesnt work good at all.)
Magic Button --- I love the top bar icons. Great app
downfall -- The whole top of the screen is a different color! Thats ridiculous.
Pbar --- Easily the best menu.
downfall --- you have to start the program to use the app! Its not like vbar and magic button where you can access the menu from the top right of the screen
help me guys, i want a good task manager
I use Magic button as I love the simplicity of it. I do find the odd colors in WM6 weird, but have gotten used to it.
A lot of people swear by Wisbar. I put it on and it does look very cool, but its VERY different' than magic button and I didn't have time to try to figure it out. I'll probably give it a try again soon. But I'm not sure it does the active icons in the top bar like Magic Button (and I love that feature).
Have you tried InClose Mobile??

If you mean running program icons, it does.
I had no problem making vbar use bmps. I configured it to look like my WM6 theme. Maybe you could try it again?

What theme are you using? I can try to make it for you. I made mine by taking screenshots of the screen before installing vbar. I took one with no button, one with the "X" and one with the "OK". Use the blank for the background, then draw a small triangle on it for the context menu. The other two are self explanatory.
See the attached screenshots.
oh ok i see what you're saying. i didnt take any screen shots so i was just making a picture myself. I was using the green homescreen that comes with windows mobile 6. It even looked bad with the blue one.

I love vBar! And you can make it match whatever theme you are using:
Go to vBar Setup, click on "Show background image" and use the appropriate little menu bar piece - try this file, vbar Crossbow Turguoise.bmp, provided below - place it in \Windows.
If you are using a different Crossbow version, (for instance true WM6, that has the two-tone menu-bars), do a screen capture of your Today screen while vBar is disabled, then edit it in your favorite photo editor, cropping out just the upper right section of the screen, from the date over (be sure to get the whole bottom line of the menu bar). Name that little .bmp appropriately, copy it to \Windows, and then set it as the vBar background image, as above.
Try the file below before you go to a lot of trouble, and make sure that it works for you. Works for me! I like the "Cyclic Black Bars" theme, so I created a little .bmp so vBar will have the right background for that (also attached below).

Looks like you beat me to the reply by about half an hour, while I was composing my reply! I use Adobe Photoshop Elements to crop the little bits of my screen shot - what do you use?
Photoshop.
nice customizable today plugin htc plus! with clock, msg, and quick link.. you can use just time and msg, or quick link or together.
just install and soft reset. enjoy

I like this, but not work on my M700 WM6.

That's why it's an HTC program. Why don't you use SPB Mobile Shell which is just the same?!?!?
very nice
works soo great on my kaiser
really appreciate it,thanks the guy from pxdxa~~
and i have a question:
i install your attachment, and just have the clock and msg,no green icons~
the green icons on your screen(the quick links?) are htchomeplug, right?
yep, you need to go to the settings - today - and there is one more tab - plus! - where you can setup what you will see or not. just setup it here
It's interesting, very minimalist compared to the HTC Home. I wish they would have added Tab support as in the Home plugin, so we could switch to contact photodialing, quick launch etc.
The existing quick launch along the bottom is nice, especially being able to add any program to it (and drag icons to re-arange their order). But it's only one line, having to click on an arrow to scroll through them. Expanding it to display more lines, or perhaps even the entire screen (if needed) would have been nice.
I'll be sticking with HTCHome for now, maybe use Plus! to add 1 row of quicklaunch icons and not display the clock/mesage indicators.
(unless I am misunderstanding what this app does):
Just to let you guys know, your Kaisers should already be pre-installed with the Quicklaunch icons (with one additional for backlight) prior to installing this app. Go to "settings>today>items". Look through the list and check the box next to "HTCHomeplug" (Not htc home). The only difference is the icons aren't green.
ee, i do not agree. thchomeplug is someting different from this. icons are smaller then on quicklink and you can not customize it..
disagree

you can customize htchomeplug search for either the thread started by me or search for registry under kaiser upgrading and you can customize the new htc tray app using the same registry keys
yep, already found that and it was posted HERE
the problem that i find with this home plug in is that the quick link to the txt, mms and e-mail are all liked to the same main page of Messages, not individually like the htc home plugin v.2... can you fiz that issue, or can any one fix that??
Hello,
since battery life of the S730 is not very long, i would like to see a more detailed battery information, that is available by just pressing one button.
I searched the internet for some application or tweak that does the trick, but no success.
I was thinking about a replacement for the normal battery icon that shows the status in percentage, also when recharging.
Another idea is to add the battery status in percentage in the information screen that you see when you unlock the keypad of the S730.
Does anybody know of an application or tweak for this?
Greetz,
Rob
Just install SmartMonitor plugin and a cool homescreen that uses it (here are a few : Cool Homescreens for S730)
I had to use SmartMonitor 0.9.5.1, because the latest (0.9.6.0) was giving me some input lag
I recommend bLifePlugin. Its a plugin for homescreen that displays battery %, battery life (number of hours until the batteries run out), and few other statistics. Its free and small.
I just use start>8(settings)>9(Power management). quick and easy enough.
Thanks guys, I'll check those apps and see what i'm going to use!
gr. Rob
I've been using SmartMonitor with a modified HTC Home screen - the attached homescreen puts the battery % below the bar icon, with the free RAM next to it. (I've also tweaked the calendar plugin and added Profile and MRU details)

Hi Madferret,
sounds great! I see there is a xml file in the zip. What do I have to do with that, to get it working?
gr. Rob
I already found out where to put the xml file, but it doesn't show battery status. I guess that is because I don't have smartmonitor. Could anyone post the cab file for smartmonitor?
gr. Rob
Et voilà
Regards
Thanks a lot! It works.
All this new functionality asks for a lot of tweaking!
I already tried to modify madferret's xml file to get rid of the 'profile' section of his home screen, but the s730 doesn't recognise the new xml file. I named it Rob.01.xml.
How do I get it to work?
Use crimson editor to edit your .xml file
http://www.crimsoneditor.com/
Regards
Still doesn't work. I opened the file from madferret with crimsoneditor and just modified the author and title and did save as "Rob.02.xml".
Then copied to \application data\home and tried to select it in the settings for the home screen. But it was nowhere to be found!
Anyone knows why?
Please help! Rob
Try this
Regards
I don't know what happened, but the things I did this afternoon and didn't work, do work now.
I guess it has to do with the computer at work.
I'm going to tweak the home screen I have now and I'm sure it's going to be a neat home screen for me. Maybe I'll post it some day!
thanks guys!
Sorry for the delay, I've been out of touch for the past week or so!
For a homescreen file to work the filename MUST end in .home.xml - you can put anything you like before that. Change your file to Rob.02.Home.xml and it should work. Also make sure it's in Application Data/Home. See http://tinyurl.com/47o4 for some info on homescreens (pre WM5 but still relevant).
I should also have mentioned that as well as the SmartMonitor plugin I also have the PtkslApptPlugIn running in place of the default calendar (it gives a scrolling display and always shows the next appt if you have nothing for the present day) - http://www.patricktrentsullivan.com/products.htm. All you need to do to revert is copy the original calendar plugin XML code from the default HTC.Home.xml to your file in place of my code.
@madferret:
the information from this thread helped me to tweak the homescreen, and now i'm quite pleased with the result. Thanks for the help. I am at my work now, and it is not possible to upload a screen shot. But now i have a battery meter at the top of the screen. It is the battery/memory meter I found in batt.htc.home.xml. Then the htc clock, without the message notification bar. Then comes the bar with small icons from the last used applications (rmu), which I also found in one of the homescreens posted here. Then comes the agenda from the homescreen from smartmonitor, which shows upcoming appointments better then the standard htc homescreen does.
All of this fills the complete 2.4" screen and I'm very pleased with it. A wysiwyg homescreen editor would have been helpfull, because I don't have a lot of time to spend on these things.
gr. Rob
Pleased to be of help
I thought the SmartMonitor home screen just uses the standard calendar plugin?
If you're looking for a WYSIWYG home screen editor there are a few out there but a lot are based on the 2003 version. I found a free one at www.madbeetle.com, useful for getting the basics covered.
is this with wm6 or what os? maybe at the wrong thread point me the rite way please>>>themes for wm6 or a very good generator>>>i have ms theme gen 2002
Okay.. I am normally pretty good with stuff like this but after 6 hours of trying I have found this site.
I have downloaded the programmes but none seem to leave me able to change the theme on my diamond. It will change the top and bottom bar but the home screen will not change.
Can someone please email me or spell out for me on here in simple terms how too.. as I seem to be having a really blonde day...
oh also looking for some Subaru themes thanks.
and sorry in advance if this is in the wrong place.
If you want to change ONLY the home screen back ground.. then use the wallpaper option instead.
SLIDE to Settings option from the homescreen and you will see WALLPAPER as one of the options.
Tap on that.
If you want to change the entire THEME.. here is how it is done:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409901
Hope this helps.
About the Subaru themes... errr... I would suggest just putting up a wallpaper.
Might just take a while for someone to come up with a Subaru theme.
All the best
hi,
I found a theme it says is for my phone but unless I disable the touchflo 3D It doesnt show how its meant to.
In fact I tried for 4 hours to change my whole theme to the vodaphone red one without success... so HELP!!
Okay... I still can not make this work. when I try to run the tf3d config file all I get is the opera opening up and thats it?
Any help would be appreciated. I have took everything off and reinstalled it and it still does the same.
Hey guys, lots of great packages here but the one thing I really want to change/get rid off is those crappy blocks which are used in the touch flow background.
You know the ones, the crappy ones which fade into the horizon that look like something from Tron
They look terrible and it seems you can only replace the home area with a background image.
Do any of the packages here allow you to change this?

guess the only way to do that is to change the theme using touch flo 3d config
anyone have a solution for this. as much as i like the blocks i want to change me to the same wall paper as my home page.
Please, i want to change that ugly wallpaper too... Touch flow 3d config "themes change" don't work for that.
I agree. Since ive changed to the Official HTC WWE 1.93 rom with .5 radio (better signal now, thanks for that!) I cannot change the background at all. In SETTINGS and TODAY the background image has been selected by clicking on BROWSE yet nothing is displayed.

You CAN change the Wallpaper on the homescreen by SLIDING to the SETTINGS Tab on the TF3D.
There is an option Wallpaper. This will change the Wallpaper on the HOMESCREEN only (unfortunately) and not on the other tabs
The BACK GROUND with in the Settings and Today menu doesn't apply to the wallpaper.
All the best.

and you can get a few wallpapers from here

I have changed the home page wallpaper. This thread referes to the Blocks on the other pages. I want them to be the same as the home page.

I find it hard to believe no one has made an app to make the wallpaper apply to all tabs....why did HTC make it like this? Weird....
Im suprised as well. Changing the home page is nice, but i would like the rest of my tabs to look ince too.
still nothing?

Just because you have no clue about how to do this doesn't meant it's a good idea to insult peoples intelligence by implying its simple and they should have done it already. The reason it's not been done yet is not because theres no want, but because devs must first understand fully how Manilla operates, it's not exactly documented in a nice fancy API.
