Sorry.. I *did* search - TZones on Touch It - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

Running Touch-It "Touched By Vista".
Trying to get T-Zones proxy running. Since the settings are quite a bit different in this ROM, does someone have a walk-through on what all needs to be set?
Also, after reading... saw that the weather on the homescreen wasn't working. Has anyone fixed this? Hate to pay 20 bucks a month for the weather (yes.. that's all I am buying the T-Zones for).
Could care less about internet since it's crawling slow anyways. Maybe when 3G comes out in June/July and I get a Kaiser... but for now.. bleh

1. This is the development forum. You can ask these questions on the other Herald threads.
2. I haven't used itje's ROM, but I'd imagine is the same as every other ROM. Go to settings, connections, connections, setup my proxy and enter the proxy of 216.155.165.50 and make sure you hit advanced so you get the proper ports (8080) - This is assuming you've setup the Tmobile data settings already...
3. There is a patched version of the HTC Home that has a working weather on proxied connections.
4. Download OperaMini 4.1 and the connection will seem 100x faster. Trust me.

How to disable image compression/downsampling in PIE/IEM

I've been searching the whole forum today and others where I thought I would find an answer, but I still can't find anything that tells me where to look.
Of course, we know the search isn't so great here, but I may have not searched very thorougly, so I'm posting this here in case someone might know off the top of their head where to look.
I don't know if it's PIE or the AT&T proxy that's causing this, but I don't see the problem using Opera Mobile with the same connection. I'm using PIE+ 2.2 on IE, but I remember this occuring even before I installed the plug-in.
I've encountered some sites where IE will *seriously* compress the images and cause them to be very pixelated and distorted even in Desktop view.
I guess I could use Opera, but there's some limitations on it that PIE with "+" overcome.
Any ideas or suggestions?
its AT-T I wouldnt use the MediaNet that the Auto config sets you up with. I personally use the wap.cingular settings and have no issues what so ever

Can you still access MediaNet and Cingular Video with those settings? I was also having problems checking my AT&T Yahoo! IMAP accounts using "My ISP", but they work just fine with MediaNet...
And while we're on the subject: Anyone know why I can't access the mobile Bank of America site anymore? Can't get on it with either Opera or IE - It says that 'for security reasons my device can't acess Mobile Banking.'

Kaiser Rom and Tilt

I haven't seent this problem mentioned anywhere and I've done a search so if its here and I missed it pardon me in advance.
I have a Tilt and was using telenav and I actually like it. The other week I flashed a Kaiser rom and really like the way it looks compared to the Tilt. Anyway I was reinstalling all my apps and games and stuff getting it the way I liked. Downloaded and reinstalled Telenav went to start it and when it tried to sign on to the internet I kept getting "cannot connect for an unknown reason check your settings and try again". I noticed when it was connecting it was trying to use my isp or att isp I can't really remember now.But when I used internet explorer it used Media net.So iwent to settings and checked it out it showed my isp tried but media net was nowhere in there. So I tried to add that but when I started it said it was already there and wouldn't let me addit. So I went back to the AT&T rom and telenav works fine connects using MEdia Net just like everything else. I know I could use Garmin,Tom Tom or numerous others,BUT this has now become my Golden Fleece I am on a quest and won't give up till I can make this work any help would be greatly appreciated by my sleep and sanity.
If all your wanting is the look you can keep the Tilt ROM and and just change the following to give you most of the look. Its basically what I use:
New HTC Default black theme ( RapidShare )

If that doesn't fix it then you are beyond my knowledge of the subject. Oh yeah, don't change your com # from 4.
Let me know if this helps

Tmobile HotSpot Cab

So i'm looking for the hotspots log in application. Ever since i flashed to the pdaviet touchflo rom on my wing I have been missing this. Is there any place to just get the cab file? Or any other way to be able to log back onto hotspots?
thanks
You can login without the application.
1. Add a new wifi access point - Network name = tmobile - next page tick "The key is automatically provided" - Next - Finish. There are no other settings needing editted here.
2. Goto a hotspot location and turn on your wifi and highlight "tmobile" - connect.
3. Open your browser (IE) and wait until the intial page loads. Here you will get your login ability. Login (username is usually your 10 digit phone # and password if not changed is the last 4 digits of the account holders SSN) - Browse as you please
Note: You can do this with any wifi enabled device not only the phone example your laptop or PSP.
I think he is talking about using the Tmobile hotspot to make calls over the voip. Like "Hotspot at home" for tmobile.
I thought I was told the Wing is not applicable to [email protected] program. Hmm interesting might need to read into that a little more.

This is exactly what i was looking for. I appreciate it!
regards
Your welcome glad I could help. I spent the time on the phone with blackberry/PDA support on T-Mobile customer care to get that info. The 1st tier of support was stubbornly stating I had to use any tmobile device that accepts a sim card and use the prebuilt software. That was the only way according to the 1st tier got to Blackberry/PDA support and asked them how would it be done on a PSP and eventually they told me its all available in the Homepage and just to use my info. They were not forthcoming with what my info was and I eventually got them to tell me it was my 10 digit # and the last 4 of the primaries SSN. Now after you set all that up you can goto the Hotspot page and user your control panel there to do what you can with Hotspots. But it is definitely nice to know that the data package I got with T-Mobile Internet is exactly what they say it is and I do not have to get another $20 package to use Hotspots like the 1st representative was telling me I had to do.
Definately..
I'm not totally about the customer service reps either. Dont get me wrong, there are plenty out there that know what they are talking about, but there are plenty out there that dont! When I first got my Wing I was in a hurry. I bought it and left the store quickly. I called tmobile a bit later to add the total internet package to my plan and after about 20 minutes the rep told me that i could not get it on my plan!! I was like WHAT!! I just spent almost 400
bucks and you're telling me I cant get internet service on this smartphone?!? The reps exact words were "That is correct sir. However if you go and upgrade to a blackberry you can add the blackberry internet package." Then of course I politly told the rep she didnt have a f**king clue! So I went to a store and they added it on no problem.
I upgraded all via the internet. Never get a deal with them anyway as a matter of fact all my grandfathered packages always seem to disappear and they want to charge me more everytime I talk to them. Have had so many problems with the motorola devices from them. The wife got a nokia 8801 and we have had it replaced 4 times the battery and speaker system on that device is just horrible from them. The whole battery connector fell out right off the circuit board no abuse from the wife she takes decent care of her devices. But on subject I had the Internet Package for the nokia ngage and something happened and they offered a special package/price for it at the time. Well the program ceased and I was offered the Intenet Data package at $9.99. I was on that for a long time and then all the sudden it all stopped. I ended up with plain old t-zones. I had t-zones on all our phones 3 total and after they told me they can't help me I just cancelled the other 2 phone t-zones and went with internet on my phone and they can goto a Starbucks with a laptop if they need internet. I'm sure they love the coffee I havent had any myself not a coffee fan lol. But in the end I just got upgraded and had to figure it all out myself and argued with them to get it done right. I won't complain about the service I get what I pay for I don't expect much more than that. I have learned that major companies just don't appreciate the customer on a one on one basis.

Excellent! Thanks! I want to use it on a Kaiser though, so that custom ROM you mentioned won't work.
Although I'm sure there must be a way to extract it from the NBF, huh?
did anyone ever find a cab or make one?
if so please post
thanks =]
I made these cabs a while back... I'm surprise no one found them by searching the site

Here are the direct links to download as long as you're logged into the site:

duprade T-mobile T-Zones.cab
thanks for the cabs!
No problems.
Excellent! Thanks!
I think the search does not index attachment filenames and that post was about tZones. They'll find it now I'm sure.
Thanks again! It works great!
What exactly does the Tzones cab do? does it set up the Tzones proxy for you?
Save my day !
Thanks for the files, you saved my day !

Essential processes for AT&T Tilt Users after each rom flash

Essential processes for AT&T Tilt Users after each rom flash
I know this has been mentioned thousands of times throughout this forum yet n00bs often need assistance fixing their hardware keyboards, email, HTC weather, quick gps, and so on after they flash a new rom for the first time.
While hanging out in Bansville for a couple of days I realized I have been answering the same questions continuously. This is a mini text tutorial, which offers simple fixes for imperative AT&T settings.
So you installed a version of hardspl, flashed a new rom, and performed a hard reset. What next? Well primarily in all probability, you want to make sure the clock settings are in am and pm format and the date is set to m/d/y. To change your clock settings follow this navigation
Start>settings>system>regional settings>time tab>time style drop down set to h:mm:ss tt
To change your date setting:
Start>settings>system>regional setting>date tab> select the date style of your choosing and select ok.
Next, I like to restore my files such as my appointments, contacts, text messages, etc. I personally prefer to use PimBackup. Below is a .zip file for PPCPimBackup. It is an uncomplicated program to use and a lecture is unnecessary to navigate throughout this application, as it is straightforward.
After I restore my files, it is time to inaugurate the Tilt keyboard fix, which repairs your slide-out QWERTY keys to be mapped correctly. For example, without this fix Fn+W will appear as ! opposed to @. Below is the cab file you need to install to remap the keys appropriately. Following the installation of this cab file, perform a soft reset.
The next thing I usually do is correct my connection settings. First, I install ATT_Settings.cab, which you can find below. Then I navigate to the following:
Start>settings>connections>connections>select the advanced tab>select networks>Change both drop downs to Media Net> select edit on both drop downs>proxy settings tab>uncheck everything for both media nets that you changed>then hit ok or x when you are finished.
At this time, I set up my email. However, remember NOT to save your password, you will do this in the following step. If you are using HTC HOME, most likely you are, select the little envelope and create a new account. You can find your email settings by using google if you are using pop3 or whatever.
Next, after I set up my email without saving the password, I install removehiddenproxy.cab, which you can find below. This cab file is important as it allows your pop3 email account’s password to save without adding extra characters, allows for your quickgps to function properly each time, and it also allows you to use HTC Home Weather without getting a connection failure. So install this cab then go back to the email you just set up, edit the account setup, enter your password, and save it. Now, go back to your today screen and tap your weather tab. Now tap Select City and select your city (*Note there are a few patches available to select your town if you do not live in a big city). Anyhow, notice the menu button where your right softkey is, select menu and turn your temperature scale to Fahrenheit and select done.
I suggest setting up your WiFi at this time too.
Well this is my mini tutorial for a basic setup on your AT&T Tilt after you flash a new rom.
Have Fun Flashing and Take Care.
*Special thanks to the creators of these cab files and JimmyMcgee for teaching me the basics.
Am I missing something too?
Is there something to do regarding getting a reasonable GPS fix after flashing newer 6.1 roms or is it a known problem. I keep flashing down to older 6.0 roms with 1.27.14.09 radio because of the faster GPS fix. I would love to use the newer roms but GPS fix time is a deal breaker for me. To save you some time I use SPL 3.28 with 6.0 roms and 3.56 with 6.1 roms. I bounce between Q-mobile and RomEos roms now that we lost dutty. Ive tried all the newer radios and personally they all stink for GPS. Sorry about your brief ban and welcome back, I need your wisdom
*cough* sticky
AWESOME. I keep saying I need to: Start fresh, get NetCF 3.5, get a light rom. But it all seems so complicated to go from current configuration to start over completely, but this will help a lot! Thanks! Now to find the time and the 'right' ROM.
Thanks very much for the reminders, and for the CABs. I flashed my first 6.1 ROM last night, and forgot all about the hidden proxy!
I agree that this really needs to be a sticky...
This is a good tutorial, but here is a good side note to add.
By removing the hidden proxy (which ya do with the removehiddenproxy cab), Tilt users won't be able to get to media net (http://device.home or http://home) or cingular video as the hidden proxy is needed for those.
Then they should just use the Restore Proxy, and that will allow MEdiaNet.
Proxy Manager has both in it.

Did you try 1.71.09.01 ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410953
Been having the same issue and finally I think got a break. Tried about 10 SR's and the lock times are steady inside the house.
BTW using DK2
does windows mobile have a localhost file like windows? would remapping those to their needed servers allow the bypassing of the proxy?

edit: works ok here my friend. Unzip the file to your desktop and move it to your storage card then run the program hopefully it works for you.

I deserved the brief ban.
Anyhow, I noticed that when running 6.1 roms with the Tilt you need an application such as HTC GPS Tool or GPS Test, to open your internal gps, prior to opening your GPS Software.
These are the steps I use to utilize a GPS Fix after each soft reset:
1) download latest updates for quickgps
2) Open GPS Tool>com 4>baud 4800>Hot Start>Then click Open and wait like 30 seconds
3) Open TT7
*If you fail to get a fix after following these steps close all programs and repeat. Eventually you should be getting fixes within seconds.
I've attached GPS Tool for you, good luck.
What exactly does the remove hidden proxy cab do on AT&T Tilts? If you go into your connection settings and uncheck the proxy server- is that the same thing or something different than the cab file does?
Hey Red,
I attached an ATT settings cab which does not enable the proxy by default, and also enableds creation mode in MMS settings. I thought it might be helpful for your thread here. Also, it may seem too advanced for beginners, but i have a thread started here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418468
This has a step by step guide to how to create an xml file using Schap's Advanced Config 3.0, which can be used to provision all of your advanced config preferences during your UC setup. This tool has really made it very easy to do reduce the amount of work that goes into flashing.
I also attached a cab for total commander, a free, more full featured file explorer; gps test, another gps tool; and advanced config 3.0. Hope it helps.
Thanks... this is a great thread!!!

It removes a HIDDEN proxy, one that you can't remove without a cab. Without it enabled you can't connect to medianet home, and some other things. Most users like to disable it for a myriad of reasons, one of which is that it causes you to be unable to browse while connected to your laptop.
The box that you check in connections is a separate issue, and i think that is actually just old settings, i'm not sure, since even on the AT&T website it tells you no not to have that checked.

Awesome. So, if I run the cab and remove the hidden proxy- can I then tether my laptop (connect to the net using the Tilt's data)- without getting caught by AT&T? Or is there more to tethering without getting caught?

School Wifi Issues [SOLVED] [GUI Proxy 'app']

I am having trouble connecting to m school's wifi. I was able to connect to it with my iPod touch because it allowed me to change port and proxy settings.

Thanks you so much.
On that website there was a suggestion to use Any Cut. This program has a shortcut for a GUI based proxy setting (Any Cut> New shortcut> Activity> Proxy settings) and it's free unlike the newer Better Cut. I will try this out on Tuesday.
Thanks again
