weather (surf report) question - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

hi i was wondering if there was a way to get tides to show up on my weather app. i like to see when low tide and high tide are. im using the weather update with htc home customizer.

in short, no
not without some kind of uberprogrammer hacking you a new home plugin. no featuress besides the basics are supported

mobile.surfline.com
enjoy

hats off to you. thank you very much

spitcast.com is mobile friendly but it only covers California. It'll do until someone does some catch-up to the iphone apps...

Sexy Widgets for the Hero

So after a couple of months using the Hero I wanted to share the Widgets I still use. My sense UI now has allot of app icons but I still find most of these Widget useful. Please add any suggestions and I will post them up on page. Lets create a resource to make the iphone peeps jealous
3RD PARTY WIDGETS:
BBC News (8/10) two widgets on my home page one for most popular and another for tech or sport
News Buzz (7/10) Still good but have stopped using it
Weather Bug (small) (5/10) Removed it
S2 CalenderWidget (9/10) for me by far the best calendar widget (two types to choose from)
Andriod and Me (small)(3/10) If nothing else to do a nice for android information
Twidriod Pro (8/10) simple but works well
Google scoreboard (9/10) I like this allot good for all sports updates
Facebook (don’t have an account I‘m a twitter man)
HTC WIDGETS:
HTC calendar (small) (8/10) Removed
HTC Settings GPS/Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Mobile (8/10) Good functions I now only have gps as ModaCo's roms have a wifi off app already installed
HTC Weather/Clock (9/10) Still nice looking but have gone for 2X2 icon without clock
HTC bookmarks (8/10) still use them
HTC footprints (Large) (8/10) Was fun at first but now removed
HTC Album (4/10) Removed
HTC Picture frame( 4/10) still use it
Contacts (8/10) nice but don’t use
Other than the stock HTC widgets - small music player, messaging and the ones you listed, I also use Google's Scoreboard. If you're into sports, its pretty good.
Oh and I have the Facebook widget too.
Someone should write one for xda-devs, it could show you PMs and when people reply to your threads/posts.... Or maybe I'm just beginning to rely on the Hero just a little too much these days.
I agree Floridak xda dev should be more mobile friendly. It would be nice to get updates via a widget. It would also be nice yo have a mobile edition web page that you can post on.
+1
totaly agree with the XDA-widget!
yep xda mobile support would be great

I just think it is so ironic that this is a forum about smartphones yet it doesn't have a mob friendly website

what's different than getting to mob portal from web portal home page? (other than saving a click)
lets get back on topic. Any new Widgets out there?
try feedr. It's $0.99 but you can create an rss feed of xda forums and then place as many widgets on your desktops as you like..I like it a lot.
i use the normal xda website all the time from my hero, i find it great and if you zoom in the auto format setting kicks in to save you the hassle
Did anyone hear of widget that would show/hide my number when calling with one press on a home screen ? That would save a lot of effort

I found interesting the Volume Widget Pro.
It's pretty nice and really useful to change music and alarm volume level from the home screen. And it has lot's of options to configure the colors of the widget.
What I'm using.
Twidgit, nice little widget shows the latest tweet.
BBC news, small widget that shows the latest headline.
Did have 'android and me' but it wasn't much of interest on it.
Ditto engaget.
I posted about this issue a while back when i first got my Hero. I was told it was not possible then. I`m hoping someone can remedy this issue as i hate having to scroll through 30-40 apps to find what i`m looking for. Even WM 6.1 has this facility!

[IDEA] Anyone interested in developing a User Experience?

I have an idea for a user experience on Android 2.1 platforms and possibly from 1.6 but I need a coder, I would provide artwork and direction. The coder would get the larger cut of the sales. I want this thing to hit the market asap so PPPPPLEASE someone get in touch with me.
Someone who knows some things about live wallpapers would be a bonus.
"user experience" is a little vague. Can you elaborate a little bit more?
Do you mean like an alternate UI? a la sense or blur?
Not a complete home replacement more of ambient information. Picture slidescreen pro but without the complete takeover and much less info being packed on page, cleaner and lighter. A live wallpaper is just a thought but I desperately need to talk to a dev about this purely because I believe I have a marketable idea and would ideally love to roll out at least an iteration of it to the market before the Droid gets 2.1 (1.1 million users in US).
oh an it is not just a live wallpaper that animates the change of weather.

Please help me make my phone look more like the Energy Rom :-)

Greetings!
I got my phone a few days ago to upgrade from my tilt 2 and it just feels like going from a Athlon 64 to a i7 LOL
A few things that are not quite there yet like the playstation emulation is no quite on par with what I have seen on Windows mobile..compatibility wise...I cannot get www.veoh.com to play even with Skyfiew and even southparkstudios is not quite as smooth (although much better looking) than on my tilt2 but I guess when Froyo is out the problems with Flash will be gone.
The main thing I want to work with now is making the home screen look more like my Tilt2 Energy ROM that I like so much.
I got the Launcher Pro + but I cannot even figure how to change clock and to show weather animation on the home page like the Energy Rom...or even if that is possible.
Any help is welcome.
PS Has anyone gotten the Amiga emulator to work yet?

The closest I can find to what you want is launcher pro and beautiful widgets (adds the home widget with the large clock + weather a la energy rom) hope that helps
Thanks.
I found fancy widgets which looks just like HTC.
Unfortunately the only live weather I have found takes a lot of resources unlike the one for our HTC phones so I guess I would have to wait a bit more on that one.
Regards
For appointments on your home page, try "agenda widget", It's great and very customizable. You can make it look just like sense, but even better in my opinion.
Thanks mate...is looking better already and this fun is just freaking awesome
I just need scummvm to be happier and a working amiga emulator as well.

HTC Apps

Does anyone have the other HTC Apps that are shown on the hub in all the photos.
Notes, Stickys and flash light?
All i have is the photo editor
No, on my O2 handset they are also missing.
If you go into Marketplace > Applications there is an 'HTC Apps' category on the first screen but selecting it only says 'not available'. I was hoping there would be either some pre-installed or available to download free to HTC devices. Bedside Clock was the one I wanted forthe HD7.
I'm disappointed by the quality of HTC's apps so far.
They are still designing their apps in the Sense style, when everything about Windows Phone 7 is Metro. For a good example of this, have a look at the Unit Converter app (by Microsoft) available from the Marketplace. It fits perfectly with the Metro style. The HTC Converter app is garish in comparison with too much faux-3d bezels, borders and colour. I uninstalled it immediately. The same applies to the Stocks app; it doesn't fit with WP7.
And in fairness to many of the other developers on the Marketplace, they have seen the advantages of the Metro style and have developed their GUIs in accordance.
Let's hope HTC will release future apps in the Metro style.

I totally agree! I was getting so tired of the Sense UI, which I've used since early Touch3D, and have been looking forward to change - they have flooded the market putting it on WM and Android.
I think the new HTC HUB is a big let down, the apps don't have a common interface, it takes too long to get into the weather. All the HTC hub is for is eyecandy.
HTC created the "info at a glance" UI with Sense, but they have totally lost the plot.
The flashlight app is probably the only one I'll continue to use. Am I right in thinking that most of the flashlight apps on the Marketplace don't actually use the LEDs on the back, they just change the display to full brightness?
I have to say the Love app is particularly bizarre..

probably HTC's punishing MS for not letting it bloat the new OS
I wonder how MS let HTC to release apps with that design. They didn't even try to follow guidelines.

Hi I have the Htc HD 7 on O2 network Uk and I have download all the Htc apps and are running fine.
although I do feel that htc hub is a waste on the phone. I t should have been more like how they have it on android. I beleive Microsoft is at fault.
But they are brilliant apps though too bad they dont compliment WM7 much as they do android .
Might get my self an Desire Hd as well

Last Call for Google IO Submission

Hey guys! I recently competed in Round II of the "Last Call for Google IO" challenge for Android which had us develop an Android version of the HTML5 countdown clock that is on the Google IO Homepage:
http://www.google.com/events/io/2011/
I threw it on my G-Tab when I was done developing it and I liked it so much I thought I'd create a live wallpaper from it, but change it from a countdown to Google IO to just displaying the system clock.
Trying to get a feel for how many people would actually use it. I've attached the standalone app I created so you can try it out.
Please let me know what you think!! Thanks,
-teleK
It's interesting, but would like to see more options on it.

I made that in 9 hours for the challenge. I barely finished let alone had time to add any options.
The Live Wallpaper will have options.
I like it! Good work!
Id rock this if it were available in a full live wall paper

Great, thanks!!
It would be an awesome lock screen wall paper..
Different colored balls maybe, amount of balls, maybe you can even add in different types of balls for a paid version? Like for sports fans- they can choose a baseball or basketball etc...If thats even possible LOL
Pretty cool. Some options I'd like to see:
1. Ability to change balls (color, size, shape)
2. Ability to change physics (gravity control, bounce speed)
3. Ability to interact with bouncing balls (move finger and cause them to change as if I actually bumped them)
4. Location on screen for date/time
5. If possible, have the balls interact with the icons/widgets on the screen - bounce between around as if they were real objects
Sorry for the Delay
Sadly I was not one of the 10 Android winners for the contest. However, I have finished turning my submission into a Live Wallpaper with the system clock and stuck it on the market.
I'm very happy with it so far but this is only the beginning. I plan to add accelerometer support, and a couple settings options as one of the other posters requested.
And who knows, if it sells well enough maybe I can afford to buy an I/O ticket from someone on eBay. So.... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? Go buy my app and try it out!!!
