Hey guys after having one of Duty's origional roms since september i took a chance on : L26_WM6.1_PROV4_(3.51.502.0_WWE)_Multimedia which moved me from 6.0 to 6.1 win mobile. I flashed. Everything is great. I used Sprite backup. The only thing is i see all my contacts in contacts (when i click the contacts on HTC Home) but none of them come up when someone is dialing.
I reladed contacts only from Sprite and stilll.. see all contacts.. nothing is showing up on incoming? Do i need to move them/wipe them out or something? Is there a difference between windows mobile 6.0 contact management and 6.1 ? So far i only that on 6.1 when i add to contact it asks me whether i want to save to Sim or Outlook. I choose outlook since in origional rom i had it all saved to Phone not SIM .
Any ideas why my incoming calls dont display the contact? Let me know if u need additional data.
Thanks guys
This community is the best.
anyone on this? anyway i can reload the contactS?
I think I read somewhere that Sprite doesn't work to move stuff from 6.0 to 6.1. But I don' know that as a fact.
Maybe you could try syncing them to Outlook. Export your address book to a CSV so you have a back up. Then Delete your Contact from the Device. Then Resync them.
If you don't want to have your Contacts on the Outlook then Use PimBackup to Back up your contacts only. Delete them from your outlook, which will delete them from your device during Sync. (Remove the Outlook Sync Part. Then Restore the PimBackup.
I used PPCPimBackup to migrate. I have never had this problem even when migrating from a Dash to the Tilt (and many ROMs after that)
Hi Guys,
You can restore Contacts, Appointments, Tasks, My Documents, Internet Favs using the latest release of Sprite Backup - 6.2.2 - after a ROM upgrade. You can also use the Merge Restore to attempt a restore of all the other data.
Cheers,
Kevin

Same problem here.
Running:
-Ruu_Signed_Duttys_WM6.1_Official_5.2.19209_1_58_16_27__FIX
-JumpSPL1.56/hard SPL V1
Can't for the life of me figure a fix for this one. Seems like it would be pretty simple...but no such luck. Help would be appreciated!

The topic says it all... I have a new Kaiser (arriving in a few days by mail) and I want to move everything (not the apps of course), i.e., calendar entries, notes, contacts etc. from my old Wizard phone to my new Kaiser.
HOW?

Ya can't get more precise and concise with that answer!! Unles you are not using Outlook.
Best way is the standard way....
EDIT, maybe be you can...Ensure on first Sync you replace all information on your new device with all from computer. Sometimes a standard Sync can delete your Outlook info replicating your new device.
Never used Outlook before... I'll give it a try.
Well, you can use pimbackup to backup contacts, recent calls, etc and transfer that backup file to the kaiser and restore it(Just a theory but its just crazy enough to work!!!!) As for programs, and personalized settings(themes, etc) your going to have to redo those!!
use pimbackup
pimbackup does the job nicely - backup to an sd card, move the card and do a restore - get pimbackup here:

I backed up with sprite backup using the stock at&t rom, then flashed to l26s new rom and now sprite backup only reloads some of my settings and my damn contacts are gone. Is there a way to manually extract the contacts out of the sB backup file also why does activesync think that i dont have outlook installed The damn window is open right beside it and it still says install outlook any help would be appreciated thanks ahead of time
did you check out the MIGRATION settings in the backup menu under options? you can choose to migrate your settings to another device (it migrates call logs, contacts, calender, tasks and categories...better yet for contacts to never fail and to always be updated is to use an exchange server for your pocket outlook email (i use a free one called mail2web i dont know what id do without it, push email is far superb over pop3)
well that would have worked before i backed up but doesnt help much now. thank u . i dont use email on my phone i just lost a lot of phone numbers. I just need to find a way to get to the phone numbers again. syncing with outloo didnt work because it says outlook isnt installed
Hi hi,
I flash ROMs quite often, and always having problem with duplicate contact & calendar entries when syncing with my work laptop after each ROM upgrade.
My workaround is to manually delete those duplicate entries, I know there are some program out there to easily clean duplicates.
My question is that, what is the proper way of syncing to prevent duplicate entries from happening in the first place? eg. making sure device name is the same, don't restore from PIM backup, etc.
This what I usually do.
1. ROM upgrade
2. Restore from PIM backup
3. Delete mobile device from my ActiveSync
4. Connect Kaiser to Laptop
5. Setup new sync connection
6. Sync
Is the step above incorrect?
Extra info:
- I connect my Kaiser to two laptops
- 1st laptop is home laptop - nothing is synced, only used for Internet connection & charging kaiser
- 2nd laptop is work laptop - syncing calendar, contacts, & mail
Thanks in advance

What things u want to have saved(contacts, tasks,...). If u want to have saved just contacts, tasks and appointments, u dont need to use pim backup. Just sync your phone after the rom upgrade with a pc.
These are my usual steps:
1. sync phone with pc(contacts, tasks, appointments)
2. pim backaup my call logs, sms, mms
3. rom upgrade
4. setup new sync partnership(without deleting the old one) and sync
5. restore the settings via pim backup
EDIT: or u can use sktools for deleting the duplicate contacts, ...
That happens when you restore contacts, appointments etc..from PIM backup and choose the "Combine the items on my device with the items on this computer" option when you setup the new partnership.
Solution: Restore SMS's from PIM and let M$ Outlook take care of the contacts and calendar entries bit...
Beaten by Mikulec ...
ah.. ic.. so the trick is only restore sms, call logs, etc from PIM. Do not restore calendar & contacts.
I was considering that, but I was just afraid that.. if I don't restore calendar & contacts, the next time I sync, it will wipe out all my calendar & contacts in my work laptop (ie. laptop mirrors what's in kaiser).
Is there anything that I need to be aware of, to ensure that after first sync all my calendar & contacts won't be cleared because my kaiser has no calendar entries in it?
Thanks for your help, hopefully this 'll help others with similar prob.

U can try to backup also your contacts and appointments with pim backup, but use the steps that I wrote(restore only call logs, sms... via backup). In case the sync goes wrong and it will not restore your contacts,... u can use pim backup to restore them.
My setup is:
work laptop, xp / outlook 2007
home vista / outlook 2007
work phone: nokia E71
enjoying: my tilt
The thing is, I recently started flashing, oh yes
I used pimbackup, myphone, and even googlesync, to have all of my data (contacts and calendar) available in all of the above mentioned devices, and failed miserably.
Deletions, duplicates, you name it, I had it...
I started reading, I mean really reading the forum, and I'm still doing it, but so far no luck.
Does anyone has an idea what would be the smartest way to ensure all of my data safe and synced in all of the above mentioned devices?
Or, please overlook my noobness, and just point me in the direction of the right thread?
TIA

anybody outhere?
what I would do is this. DELETE all your contacts from your phone and your Outlook contacts. Then delete all your SMS. Hide your SIM contacts. Then use Pim Backup. Then after it restores everything you will have one copy. Then resync with your comp and store all the new info to your comp. Ideally PIM Backup is best used only for storing SMS, let active sync do the rest. Just in case let pim backup store all your contacts, but when restoring only select to restore SMS so you dont have duplicate contacts.
thank you, I'll give it a try.
Hell everyone,
I tried using search to find a solution for this but I havn't been able to. I am currantly about to install a custom ROM. I have downloaded Hardspl and isntalled it on the phone. But after watching the who to install a custom ROM i found out that all my contacts and sms will be deleted. I tried to save through sync but i don't have outlook on my computer and therefore cant save them that way. I was wondering how do I save my contacts and sms without using outlook. I have installed NS Contacts Backup v1.2 but I can't find the file assosiated with contacts and sms'. IS there another way I can back up my contacts and sms before installing the custom ROM??
Thanks
I think that you will find what you search here
I second PIMBU
MS MyPhone online backup.

or spb backup...http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/backup/
hmm.. I have similar problem....I need to transfer contacts from my old P910i(yes, Symbian device) to my X1.
Anyone knows how?
I cant even copy contacts to SIM card since it can be copied only one-by-one, and I have really A LOT of contacts, so it would take a great deal of time.
Any suggestion ??

1. MyPhone through the internet
2. Best solution: use free PIMBackup by FdcSoft.
Great free app making backup of data to your storage card, restorable any time.
Backups contacts, sms, mail, calendar, tasks etc.......

Symbian phones should allow for select all > copy from Phone to SIM.
I should know, I shifted from a 5700XM (S60) to Xperia (excluding the retarded stopgap LG Arena in the middle.)

Oh please. How can you store 1000 contacts to SIM?
With multiple data like email, many numbers, address?
The only way from P910 to X1 is Outlook,
that's what I did from P1 to X1.
You can sync contacts, calendar, notes, tasks.
Beware: better sort all the contacts the way they're present in Outlook/WM phones or you'll loose some data,
like multiple MOBILE numbers: WM accepts just one mobile, on UIQ you could add as many as you want....

How was I to know you had so many contacts? I have 122 each with address, email, mobile, house number, and everything transferred fine.
