Don't know if anybody has this too, but i have cracks in the grey casing.
If i slide open the keyboard, the upper part of the casing (the part with the display) has some crack right above the buttons with start and contacts...
It started as very little cracks and they become gradually bigger. They started as small vertical cracks (just barely visible with he eye) but they grew bigger and they are now even horizontal cracks in it.
Horizontal meaning.... Parallel with keyboard in slide open position.
Am i the only one ? or is anybody experiencing the same problems ?
(are my pants just too tight)

I'll probably get the CDMA version (Sprint), since CDMA coverage is much better in the US, let alone here in NYC.
According to the prelim specs on PDADB, here's a size comparison with the S730: zomg!

PDADB lists the CDMA version's release as July. Any searches for the Raphael have are releated to Sprint (US CDMA carrier) releasing the Diamon and the Raphael.
PhoneArea doesn't list a release for the GSM version.

T-Mobile Wing is not the same phone as HTC Wings!
Take a look at my crack!
Here is a picture of my crack
Poor picture quality, I know..
A hairline crack about 4 mm long has shown up on mine. On the screen half of the housing close to the camera button. I can't believe that HTC could hve used low quality plastic. It's has only 4 months of use !
Mine also, same place as Alcaline, realy small right know...
crack on mine too
same location as Alcaline. not that bad though.
I called the HTC repair center in France. it will take 8 days for changing the case. Should be cover by the warranty.

They cover this by warranty? Crap!
I have opened my device, thereby broken the warranty...
Same problem here. I've got two hairline cracks. one left of the camera button and one left of the Home key (same as picture above)
I contacted HTC today. They told me I could send my phone to Eurotwice for repair. Eurotwice told me that the phone could not be repaired under warranty, because HTC did not confirmed the 'hairline crack' problem.
Called HTC again and told them that I was surprised to hear that the problem could not be fixed under warranty since so many users are facing the same problem.
Now a ticket is created for me and escalated to another department within HTC. They are going to investigate this case and determine if this is a design error. If so they will release an announcement to the repair center and my phone can be repaired under warranty.
For now I have to wait....
I keep you guys informed about the progress

Goodday XDA members and Wings Owners,
I have a Wings myself allthough i am verry disapointed in the worthless quality of the phone, no gps, ram issue, and bad cover. The other day when i slided out my keyboard there broke a piece of my cover just on the side of the screen. There are also bursts in this place next to the screen, i returned it for warranty but its 13 months old. So the phone company told me to mail HTC what takes ages before you get a response.
Annyway i want my cover fixt with or without warranty.
Does someone know this problem or HAS it?
A relpy would be nice thanks.
Your best bet is finding a replacement housing for the S730, which are on ebay for like $40.
I must say that my S730 still is in perfect shape, but I handle mine really careful.
yes i have the same problem ....where i can find on ebay????
if you search on ebay
s730 full housing
you will find some cover (pad, keyboard, slider, front, back and display) at 40~60 dollars from honk kong.
i'd like to get one dark grey (like the atmos or softbank) but i cannot assemble it

out of curiosity, once i purchase the housing cover from ebay, how is it that it is applied on the phone?
glue?, screws? .....something i could do? or look for a guy at the flea market?...........i am about to buy the covers.....but am kinda skeptical
Ive been wondering the same, i got two htc wings with broken cover..
How do you put it togheter? anyone knows?
so i ordered the cover for 40$ from hong kong (it includes some cheap plastic tools also, one that looks like a plastic popsicle stick with several bends, another weird small scredw driver).....the package arrived at my doorstep 6 days later, I went to the guy at the mall with a cart/booth full of phone **** but said he could do it for 30$ and would take an hour...............2 hours later i returned to him telling me that taking apart the keyboard and back cover would be too delicate for him and could mess it up....all in all, he replaced the front cover, keypad and gave me a screen (from an old S720).....the face of my phone is flawless (except for one miniscule piece of sawdust)......the battery cover is also flawless ......i only have one small scuff mark over by the camera button........other than that im also lovin HTC BLACK by DJ OUB !!!
I recently bought this phone on ebay for 105$ with a busted cover, 40$ for the faceplate, and 30$ for the service ........i'll keep this s730 for a while....tho i also have my eye on the s740....is that much different?
i like very much the s740, but it is so expansive
but it is totally different from the wings, more slim, more light, stylish black chassis, the sliding qwerty is opposit respect the wings, it has RAM 256MB!!
of course it is the perfect slidephone, but it is expansyve...
wow, $60 is quite profitable, if you can show me the picture of the ebay auction, I think I could get the same one for u at xda-developer special price
But anyway, accessories for Wings is quite hard to find here in HK, I have been looking for a plastic protective case for it but I could only find some in Taiwan... and out of stock eventually
here is a pic of the phone housing cover i bought on ebay to replace my busted faceplate.....shipped from hong kong, mind you, the guy who fixed my phone only used the FACEPLATE and battery cover....apparently the keyboard half of it is very delicate and has very small delicate parts....who knows, maybe he was scared to try it...

i also got my eyes on this metal one tho too (
) its gonna be like 25$ with shipping and all....any thoughts
here are other cases i saw up for bids....do u guys have any of these?:
the metal case is super!! but our wings are really fat... and with that case i'm afraid that it cannot enter in my slim jeans pockets!!!

What about the small speaker on the backside of the frontcover, was that included in the full housing package you bought on eBay? It seems impossible to move that speaker from one front cover to another due to the rubber with glue going apart when dismounting it from the cover.
Update: I can see the the service manual for the S710 (Vox) that HTC calls this part for "Receiver". Strangely they doesn't write a part no. in the service manual for that specific part. I would REALLY like to have the service manual for the S730, but I can't find it anywhere...
Hi,
My screen got a pretty bad scratch. Like a peace scraped of with the blade.
Anyone know if I could buy new front cover from ebay and change it. Or is the screen and the top plastic not separate?
Thanks.

thanks for the reply mate.
My screen is not scratched but the plastic on top of it.
So my question is are they glued together like on some phones. Or are they separated so I can get a new front panel. I only can find screen only on ebay not the top plastic if you know what I mean.
Sorry for my bad English.
you can buy a new housing but it will require some dissassembling. ebay housings come.
with the required tools to take it apart.
phandroid.com/htc-magic-manual.pdf
this guide shows you how to do it.
hey,
problem is that they only include the plastic around the screen.

If you look carefully you can see that where the screen is. There is just a hole no plastic or anything.
I am going to be dissasembing a Magic tomorrow for a digitizer replacement and can provide more info then, but my guess would be that you need a new digitizer, this piece is the actual touch panel of the phone.
The link provided shows the Magic dissasembly and digitizer replacement.

Keep in mind if you order a digitizer from Ebay or HK, there seems to be more than one type of digitizer for this phone.

This seems perfect as you get the screen included so you don't have to pray the digitizer off. But will it work on my htc magic?
Magic has been disassembled and digitizer has been removed. (Very easy)
The phone is a 32A and the digiitzer is apparently a Type 1 digitizer. There seem to be two availiable: On the type 1, the chips orientation on the ribbon cable is diagonal while on the type 2 it's orienation is square.
Here is the reason for replacing:

BTW, the title of that ad if very misleading, if you read the ad thoroughly, you will notice that there is absolutely no mention of a digitizer being included anywhere in the ad. Only:

1 x T5 / 1x T6 / 1x + / 1x pry tool

I am not sure if a 32B constitutes a type 2 digitizer, I was hoping that more people who have replaced theirs could post what they have found, so we could try to document it.
Well, recieved my new digitizer. I did all my research and selected one that I knew was the same as the digitizer that I took out of the phone, lots of close up photos in his Ebay store (a Type 1). The item arrived at my door, and wouldnt you know, it is a Type 2. And I can officially say that the two types are not compatible, a Type 2 will not work in a phone with a Type 1 digitizer in it.
So, I dont know if there is a specific place for this, but I can not give any type of endorsement to the ebay Store / Seller named: easyworldwidetrading
Here is the item I ordered.

Look at the orientation of the big chip on the cable. Notice the difference on the two digitizer pics posted. Also take look at the cnn.cn website to see the 2 different digitizers.
Does anyone know where I can purchase this case? I've tried every AT&T in my area and in the Seattle area and I cannot find anyone with this case in stock for purchase.
I have been looking with no luck. If you find one. Please let me know where.

I will call at&t directly after I cancel my Verizon order for the wrong case. I'll let you know what happens.....
I am on the phone with AT&T and they can NOT find this case in their system/inventory....it's so annoying. If we had Verizon here in Anchorage, I would take back this phone and go with the Verizon variant. I spoke with an AT&T rep who is calling all the stores within a hundred miles to see if she can locate one for me. When she calls me back, I will update this post.
Try some T Mobile Stores as well, I know they give one for free maybe they have some in stock early before the phone release.
I just searched all over google search and NOTHING!!! Sucks cus i always have a case and screen protector literally the instant i take my device out the box. When i saw this case i fell in love, perfect for me at the gym with that little window music player. Just tap tap and change track, lol! Only place i've found this sold is on ebay in S. Korea for $79.99, not worth half that price imo for what the case is actually made out of. Costs probably $5 to make this damn case and sells for $79.99, yeah no deal!
A bit off topic, but while the Verizon rep was trying to figure out what the G2 even was, I tried on this case in the store and was severely disappointed in how cheap it felt.
My main issues are that nothing holds the flap closed so it gets caught on my pocket pulling it in and out and the hinge is the cheapest parts of the entire case, so it "shifts" on the phone. I can't explain it much better than that, but the window cover just sort of "flaps around."
Just thought I would share so you don't loose too much sleep trying to track it down.
Best buy now shows the window case online but its not available anywhere yet. Hopefully this means they are expecting some because I have been looking since purchase also
Just ordered it from Best Buy!!!
It was my understanding that LG wasn't releasing this case the same time the phone was released... Hence why everyone is having such problems finding it.
Best Buy said it wasn't available in any stores yet, but I did just order it from online, and they say it will ship tomorrow... So, I think that is your best best. The only have the black color available though, but they do have it for all the carriers, including VZW .
Anyone try the aftermarket quickwindow case linked below by Coverbot? I may....also doubles as a stand....hmmmmm
http://www.amazon.com/CoverBot-Quic...d=1381338554&sr=8-2&keywords=quickwindow+case
just picked one up from t mobile. taking it back doesnt add 50 bucks worth of protection or features
T mobile sent me one free with my phone. I strongly advise against using this case without a screen protector.
The metal banding around the inside of the window scratched my screen. Granted the scratch is barely visible and it takes some effort to see but I imagine it would only get worse from there so I stopped using it. Anyone want mine?

Probably you have 2 options:
1. Buy a separate back cover (there is a forum with links)
2. Buy a defective tab s maybe one with cracked screen ( you will spend more money but you will have a spare battery, other internal parts to sell or keep
Maybe is not a bad ideea to go to samsung service and ask for that plastic piece. Maybe they have a defective tab and could replace for a small fee...
Anyway, good luck

Did you find one of these? I took my tab apart to fix it and lost this part... doh!
my IR cover went missing also after repairs
I sent mine in for repairs and it came back without the IR cover also! so frustrating, because i didn't notice for several weeks ( i never use it) and they'll deny they're the one that lost it.
I'd love to know a SERIOUS answer on how to replace and/or cover it.
I am also in need of one of these. Anyone taken the risk on a ebay back cover?
So I bought a Nokia 7 Plus on the 27th of April to replace my Nexus 6P on which the battery had turned awful. Got it as I needed a reliable phone for an upcoming trip to Japan, around 2 weeks later. The day before I left I installed a new more protective case I had ordered online. When I took the phone out of the included case I noticed something that looked like a defect on the copper plating almost between the power and volume buttons as well as a bit higher up on the same side. Didn't think more about it and just thought it was a optical trick my eyes played on me and installed the new case.
While in Japan, I took the phone out of it's case to show the phone to a Finnish friend, and when did put it back I noticed it again, this time as I was outside in the bright sunlight I inspected it more clearly and to me it looked like the screen and edge of the chassi was not fully joined.
When I got back home I did talk to Nokias support in the app they provide on the phone and got it comfirmed that indeed, it shouldn't look like that, and they said I should take it to the store where I bought it to get it replaced or repaired (I don't know why they would repair a phone that was just over a month old at this point, always been in a case with tempered glas screen protector, been kept in front pocket or jacket pocket and never been dropped)
So I decided to talk to the store where I bought it from, decided to talk with their online support chat before taking it in to the store. They said, it didn't seem right and told me to bring it into the store for a replacement or repair. So sure enought I bring the phone to the store, they look at it and say well they don't have a tech. at hand to look at it, so it has to be sent in for evaluation. A swap wasn't even on the table. The store happned to have a bigger store not far away where I knew they had a service desk, so I decided to bring it there. Same thing. It has to be sent in for evaluation, and it would take at least 10 days as it's vacation season. He did however ask if the phone worked fine otherwise, which it does. It's great and I absolutaly love it. As I was unsure what I wanted to do, as it was not the swap I was expecting after talking to the online support, he offered to note this defect down on my receipt in their computer database.
The phone works fine and there is nothing else wrong with it. Am I over reacting on this issue? But my concern is that lint will perhaps get into the device and cause issues down the line.
Anyone else noticed something like it on your devices? Including a picture that I think shows clearly what I'm talking about. Thanks!

Seems like a manufacturing defect because mine is fine.
