Accessing Storage Card through PC - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

This may be the dumbest question.. but i've tried looking around and nothing came up.. How do i explore my storage/memory card from my computer? I wanna just drag and drop items in.. Cant find an option through active sync

From your PC with the phone connected via Activesync just open My Computer and your phone should be listed there with all your drives. Just click on it and you'll see the storage card.

"explore" your device

It doesnt show up as a drive or anything.. the only thing that shows is the Mobile Device Icon.. which will go in.. but i dont have the option to format..

Ahhhh ... You didn't ask about formatting the storage card in your initial post.
If you want to format the storage card your either going to have to get a card reader for your computer and do it that way or there are PPC programs that allow you to format the storage card that do it from the device itself.
There might be a free program but I'm not sure. I use Resco Explorer 2007 and it allows me to format the card while in the phone.

Try WM5torage (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349143)

to just browse + drag/drop, you can use press on the explore button in the ActiveSync window (shown in the attached image file - disabled because i didn't have the phone connected). that will open the my docs folder on you device, go up a level and you will be in the root that includes "storage card".
for large files though (maps, movies, etc) it is faster to take the card out of the device and use a card reader to make it a flash memory.

Sorry for my ignorance, but my ELF stopped synchronizing so is there a way I can explore the memory card that was in my ELF by introducing it directly into my computer?

help on how to use the storage card as main drive

can some one point me in the right direction for this been look thru multiple thread trying to find it but no luck.
this is for a cingular 8125
The main drive for what? If you mean the IE cache, then the Registry Wizard found on this forum can do that. If you mean for individual apps, the CAB files will allow you to choose whether to install on the device or on the memory card when you install them. Beyond that, I guess I'm not sure what you'd mean...
I guess he wants the entire OS to run from storage card instead. Its like you want Windows XP running off a DVD-RW disk instead of HDD for your PC.
no i think he probably means when you install some apps to the storage card .. when you go to run them it is looking for the ".EXE" on the device and throws an error... probably how to fix that ..
i just want all apps to run from storage using 2 gig sd card, seem slike everythin i install and choose storage card seems to be on main memory instead of storage even tho i choose storage card i still see in main memory
A lot of apps will still copy some stuff to main memory regardless where you want to install them. Some apps like Today plug ins will even have problem running off storage card especially on old ROMs. Keep this in mind, storage card is slow and not immediately available after wake up from sleep mode. It is best left to be used as storage (as the name implies) rather than program memory.

Search for WM5Storage or SOFTICK Card Export .. uses USB cable
(I prefer to use card export, it just works, but costs)
you can sync with bluetooth
Yeah, but the whole idea was _not_ to sync, but use it as external drive.
- Card Export works like a charm, thanx!
Create a User In windows just for work.

Ok.
What I'm doing is I created a user in windows just for work (or for whatever you use the PDFs).
When you connect your PPC with your PC just select "Conect without setting up your Device".
No synched files.
Idon't know for you but I'm happy that way.
Hope this help You
Try Using Mocha FTP Server ... it will make ur Windows mobile act as an FTP server.. then you dont need the cable to access your mobile... you can access it wirelessly if its on the same Network
Now thats better

unable to copy

i clicked a few photos and saved them on memory card. when i try to copy them using the explorer in active sync onto my computer, i am unable to do so. a prompt does appear showing files being copied from 100MEDIA to desktop computer, but they dont get copied. or are they being coped to some other location??
If you did a drag-n-drop, they'll end up wherever you dragged them to. I do that all the time and that's how it works.
the same thing happens even if i drag n drop
makes no difference
what happens if you drag & drop to the PC desktop?
it shows the converting and copying pop up
but nothing actually gets copied

Activesync is sooo slow anyway. Just pop the MicroSD card into a reader. This will save you a ton of time.
or u can just use card export or wm5torage
these above programmes will allow u to use ur pda as USB Flash Memory
run a search to find them

Hmmm... it is supposed to work, and it does for my Tilt with no problems at all.
Have you tried plugging into a different computer and hitting cancel when it asks to set up a partnership? Then, click the explore button in the ActiveSync window and try to copy the pics.
At least, this would let you know if it is a problem on the phone or the computer side of things.

Setting to make Kaiser work like a flash disk

Hey guys
Anyways I want to know if it is possible to change a setting somewhere to get my Kaiser to work like a flash disk, at the moment I have an 8 gig memory card in it and it takes forever to copy files to and from it, you also need to have Active Sync or Windows Mobile Manager installed on the PC to be able to do so...
All I want to have is, when I plug my Kaiser in, a REMOVABLE STORAGE link appears on my Desktop and it works like a flash disk will... I also have a problem when doing it through ActiveSync that when copying files FROM the phone to desktop or wherever, the files doesnt copy or appear on the PC... I've read on the net that you can find it in your PC's TEMP folder but I cant find it and this is not how it is suppose to work...
Any help would be apreciated
Thanks in advance.
search some more and you will find the following facts (which i am listing here because i am in a good mood, but you should still search because you will find more details that way):
1. a program (not free, i.e. commercial) called "card export" will allow you to do what you desire in terms of exposing your microsd card as removable storage when you connect to your PC via usb...see point 4 below also
2. another program called "wm5torage" MIGHT work depending on which version of wm5torage you try and which particular ROM you try it on. its a bit of a hit and miss affair, though. in my experience, wm5torage worked only ONCE, and i was using winmo6.0 back then...it has NEVER worked for me on winmo6.1 or winmo6.5 ROMs...see point 4 below also
3. newer devices from htc are able to do what you desire out-of-the-box. this is because these devices contain the necessary drivers to enable the functionality but, sadly, these drivers were never shipped with the kaiser and no one has (yet) found a way to hack the drivers of newer devices to work with the kaiser.
4. WHATEVER mechanism you try, it WILL BE SLOW. this is because the kaiser has a usb2.0 COMPLIANT interface. the "compliant" term essentially means that the device can WORK on a usb2.0 interface but not at full usb2.0 SPEED.
5. activesync will always work to PUT files on the kaiser. GETTING files FROM the kaiser is "buggy" with activesync. as a workaround to activesync, i use "schaps htc network plugin" on my kaiser. what this wonderful little piece of kit does is that it will allow you to map folders that point to one or more "network drives". if you set up a shared folder (with FULL ACCESS to "Everyone") on your desktop/laptop, you can use the network plugin to map a folder (usually under "\Network") and then you can freely read/write files using any file manager on your kaiser over WIFI as well as over activesync. so when i want to retrieve something from my kaiser, i establish an activesync or wifi connection and then i browse the shared folder from the kaiser and dump whatever i want on to the desktop/laptop's shared folder.
6. another alternative is to use the remote desktop application. this will let you access your desktop's/laptop's desktop remotely (over wifi as well as over activesync) from your kaiser. in the "Options" of the remote desktop application, you will find a setting under the "Resources" tab called "Device storage"...setting this option to "Map to the remote machine" will make your device's "\" folder (including the "\Storage Card" folder) available to your desktop/laptop in "My Computer". the catch is that you will have to use your desktop's/laptop's desktop on the tiny QVGA screen of your kaiser.
7. LUCKY SEVEN is the BEST OPTION in my opinion. simply buy a cheap microsd card reader and when you need to use your microsd card as a usb drive, simply pop out the card from the kaiser, slide it into the card reader, and you'll have a fully functional 8GB usb flash drive. desktop windows won't know the difference and the speed is phenomenal! as a benchmark, it takes about 10 minutes to copy about 200MB using activesync. the card reader will do the same operation in under a minute! it seems htc has designed the kaiser's microsd card slot to be "hot swappable" but i recommend closing all file browsers and any programs running from your microsd card or any programs accessing files/data from your microsd card before removing the card from the kaiser. also recommended is to turn off any and all power saving options set for your microsd card slot on your kaiser.
good luck!
Thank you very much good sir.

I second Card Export, i've tried so many different options for my Kaiser and it was the only program/option that was able to do this.

[Q] how do I move memory from phone, to removable memory card

I have video that I want to put on my computer and edit. The USB connection does not work. The computer using Windows Vista, does not recognize the phone. The video was stored in the phone before I had a removable memory card in place. Now, I need to move the video onto that card, so that I may put that card in a card reader, and to my USB port on my computer. The guys in the AT&T store were unable to help me, and Samsung does not answer the customer service phones. I am old ,and not at all savey with electronics. If at all possable please answer in as plain English as possible. I understand that it may not be possable to answere in plain English. If that's the case I can always print it out ,and take that to the AT&T store, if I don't get it.
Thanks
File manager, navigate to where the video is saved. Once you find video long press, select copy. Navigate back then find the folder for your external sd. It will either be a folder named sd, or external sd. Go inside it. Click paste. Once it does its thing it should be there.
Miui
Holy crap, this is basic file navigation. Your AT$T store must hire brain-dead zombies to work there.
yea, file manager or astro
