Hello,
is any change I can change content of Windows foleder files? I mean change for ex. SMS WAW file to my file ...
All this files are System file and I could not change them.
Any help<
Thanks a lot
you dont have to overwrite them. as long as the tone your importing into the folder is in the correct format (if its sms tone your after in this case i believe it does need to be a .wav file) then once file is in folder just go into your ringtone personalisation settings and select the new tone
Hi,
ringtone personalisation settings - does not offer SMS ring tone settings.
Any way, it is more tasks I would like to do, but I do not how to change Win /folder/ files.
Does anybody know any tool how to do it?
Thank you.
settings >>> sounds and notifications >>> notifications >>> in the event drop down box select Messaging:New text message then select the previous .wav file you put into the windows folder
silly me - thanks - I have got it.
Thanks again

I'm trying to change the sound WM uses for the pop-up dialogue (for instance, you install a program and a dialogue pops up and says you have to restart... that sound). I've gone through every option available in Settings/Sounds & Notifications, but there's no entry for it. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

This is what I did (altho the results of the following steps are entirely YOUR responsibility):
1. MAKE BACKUPS! From Activesync, "Explore" the phone. i.e. in a Windows Explorer window.
2. Dbl-click "My Windows Mobile Device". Dbl click the "Window" subdirectory.
3. Sort by filetype.
4. Navigate to where ".wav" files are.
5. Select all the ".wav" files and copy them all en masse to a separate directory on your PC. (all the hidden system wav files should also have been copied in the process).
6. play all the wav files until you find the one that irritated you the first time.
7. open a registry editor of your choice on your WM device. (I use SKTools)
8. search for the file name from step 6.
9. Try the full name plus extension first. If no result, then try the name without the extension.
10. Replace instances of the filename with the wav filename of your choice (I assume you have one). If there was an extension in the first place, include the extension as well.
The outcome of all the above is your responsibility. The steps worked for me, and if you are familiar with how to edit WM registry items, the steps should work for you as well.
good luck.
Thanks for the reply skenobi. Reading your response, it occured to me that once I find the wav files WM is using, I could probably just replace the sound I don't like with a renamed copy of the one I do (i.e., replace Alarm2 with a copy of Alarm4, renamed to Alarm2). I think I'll try this out first, before I buy a registry editor.
Thanks again!

Hey ZIGGYKD
You dont need to purchase a Registry Editor. You can download it for FREE at

Thanks for the link!

That might work, altho (if I'm not mistaken) some wav files are in ROM, i.e. you can't rename/replace it.
Your mileage may vary, as they say.
Good luck.

Awesome dude.
Pretty much what I was looking for some time.
Now, is there a way to backup this whole list, so we can restore it after flashing a new ROM?
Thanks!
can, lah...
select text in T9MyWords > copy > paste into a text file > save the text file in a save location (e.g. Sync Folder "My Documents" or Internal Storage).
After flashing a new ROM: select text in the text file > copy > paste into T9MyWords.

Sounds simple. Have ya tried it? Doesn't work bro. The text are placed line by line, not in a textbox.
Im thinking I could backup the following files:
\Windows\eT9Cdb.Cdb
\Windows\eT9Rudb.Rdb
Both of them contain words (and more) from the T9 list. Gonna do some reading up and see the significance of these files.
oops... I'm sorry. tweaking with more than one proggis at the moment....
BoogieCornejo has given following solution:
go to windows folder and save these 2 files. eT9Cdb.Cdb and eT9Rudb.Rdb. after hard reset rename the original files in windows folder to anything you want then copy your saved files to replace the renamed ones.start a message or any text document and add a word.you'll notice the words you stored from before the hard reset will still be there...
Olafson added one more file:
eT9Rudb.Rdb
eT9Cdb.Cdb
eT9AsDb.Adb
1) Copy files from windows to another location
2) Change attributes from read only to archive
3) Overwrite files in windows folder (Now the files are not in rom)
4) If are still read only you have to change again in Archive (Now you can because files are not in rom)
I did not try yet as I flashed my rom yesterday night
Sourceress, Thanks so much for this! I have been looking all over for a way to update my T9 dictionary to get rid of some annoying words! This exe is a mind saver!
Thanks really useful - why HTC doedsn't include this facility I've no idea!!
The program is simple but wonderful. I was looking for some ways to clear those words too.
I just downloaded the .exe and removed the word Im but for some reason when I use t9 it still uses Im when I type i then m instead of I'm with the capital I and apostrophe. Any ideas why?
Really a big big thanks for this posting. Fantastic program, awesome!!!
none of these two files works for me... that's strange!
Thanks a lot.It works fine. I look for something like that for a long time
Is it possible to have a voice saying like "You have received a new message!" when I receive an sms? Where can I find such a sound file and how (and where) to install it? Or should I install a theme including this? Which one?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Conrad,
I'm attaching a .wav file that should suit your need. Copy and save this file to your Ringtones folder and then assign it under Notifications for a incoming SMS.
Cheers!

Try these , they are .wav files. Put them in your /windows folder and they will appear in your sounds and not.

They can just be on the root of your storage card too, also just as reference ringtones can go in Storage Card\My Ringtones "anything to save space"
Hi. I'm looking for a few of the stock sounds as used on my Nokia 8. Is there any way I could extract them from a downloaded phone image or does anyone have copies they could upload for me. In particular I'm looking for Ring Ring from ringtones and Message 3 & 9 from notifications. Any help or info would be appreciated. Andy
You can copy the sounds by using a file manager on your Nokia 8. I suggest Ghost Commander.
Tap on the three dots, then Location, then Change location. Enter /system
"Ring Ring" is under /system/media/audio/ringtones/ and the Message sounds are under /system/media/audio/notifications/
If you have downloaded a Nokia 8 firmware, you can find these files in the system image - if you have software that can open it.
Hi. Thank you very much indeed! I achieved what I wanted using Ghost Commander as you suggested. I hadn't realised I could access files that way without the phone being rooted. Thank you again - Andy
Hi,
I'm trying to install sound package which has ringtones and notifications. The files are ogg format.
I figured out how to install notifications. I have to use the built-in Samsung My Files to copy them into the Notifications folder. Then it will be picked up by the phone and I can see them in Settings notification list
However, I can't get the ringtones to show up in Settings ringtone list. I can use the plus button to choose, which shows all notifications as well.
What's the trick to install ringtones on S10?
Thanks

Just copy ringtones into the folder Ringtones! If the folder doesn't exists, make it!

I already did it twice, once with My Files. However, they don't show up in Settings -> Sound -> Ringtones. Instead, I'd have to click on + sign at the top and choose folder.
Does it require a folder structure inside Ringtones folder?
Thanks
Unfortunately, it happens to me all the times I've manually placed files into the Ringtones folder, even on internal storage not external SD. What I found worked reboot many times or use media scanner to refresh
How do I trigger media scanner?
Thanks
