I something weird came to my eyes. I just installed the latest version of SKTOOLS. in that great program you have the option to look at and delete installed programs.
GUES WHAT ...... i have the option to deinstall windows mobile 6.1 !
To me this is weird. Never could do this with the old rom. It looks to me that wm6 is on the rom and 6.1 update is running as a program or something. This means 6.1 is not running from the ROM at all ???? Or am i missing something here
A ROM you just cannot deinstall as software ...... just a installed software program you can deinstall !!!!!
footnotes
After updating to WM6.1 in his installed programs list he is getting the option to uninstall WM 6.1 Any ideas
My guess would be that it is recognising this as a seperate app rather than a ROM as your installer used isnt optimised for 6.1 so it could be just marginally conflicting with it. However I would be interested to know what happened if you were to click uninstall
Yup would be nice to see what happens. However took me all weekend to reinstall all apps in my htc . I am a little scared to try and then reinstall everything again.
The uninstall is only in SKTOOLS remove program. Not in the standard one. Could be a conflict ..... but still it is weird.
The 6.1 ROM works flawless for me sofar. Big speed improvement. To bad about the drivers and the still unusable camera. Battery runs MUCH longer to
HAHA your one of the few that actually sound happy with it
Go on unistall it see what happens could bring us all to realise that 6.1 is nothing more than an additional front-end for WM6
hahaha that would be great to find out

Hey there,
Just installed marketplace on my 6.1 custom rom (by gen.y, manila 2.1).
Seems to work fine, but it only shows 4 apps for me (facebook, windows live and some other crap). In some previews I've seen many more apps... Whats the reason for this? Is it because I have 6.1? Do other people have only 4 apps too?
Regards,
De man
I think its because your running 6.1, i'm pretty sure they are still working on the 6.1 version.
???
where's the cab ???
Cab File
Please see attached cab file for WM Marketplace.
I just bought my first application (Midomi 2.0) from the Marketplace and right away i noticed one flaw.... or should i say a significant flaw, which could impair reputation of MS application store for mobile devices.
You don't have a choice of installation paths for downloaded applications from the Marketplace. It doesn't install them to a Storage Card. It defaults to your Device's main memory.
I just hope they fix it with an update. So beware.
nope

im using 6.1 and marketplace runs fine on my incite. it has all the apps the my buddy with a tp2 has.
I know I'm gonna get slammed for even posting this but I'm hoping someone can make a recommendation for me. I've been using rom's from xda-developers for years on various devices and now have a Tilt 2. I guess I'm old fashioned because I prefer the WM5 style today screen (screenshot below) and don't like Sense, Manila, or even the default WM6.5 today screen. I'd love to use the Tilt2 roms but am not seeing any that don't include either of those.
Can somebody please recommend a solid and current rom that uses the WM5 style today screen?
Thanks very much...
Greg
just go into today > items and disable windows default on Titanium or disable toughflo on Manilla builds, you'll be left with the original windows 6.1 today screen which is pretty close to that of WM5.
Then you can install all of those plugin that you had there to make it look identical again.

I can do that but was more looking for a rom that didn't have them there to begin with because they may get loaded even though I'm not showing them on the today screen. That's a lot of overhead if they are loaded. No big deal if I'm wrong, I can certainly disable them that way.
Thanks for the advice...

Are you recommending the Firestorm ROM or one version of it?
You probably can cook your own from the official ROMs. Da_G gives out ROMs without manila, but it does have titanium in it.
I'm by no means an expert, but I would guess that titanium would be more difficult to remove from an OS build, as it comes as part of WinMo. Manila/Sense comes from HTC, so it is probably easier to break off from the base OS. I'm betting that if you disable Titanium as mentioned above, you'll remove whatever overhead there is.
Also, as mentioned above, Da_G's ROM is sans manila... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577594 ... it appears to be made specifically for the Tilt 2, judging by the title of the thread.
Hi All,
I too am looking you for this, I can assure you I've flashed almost every rom out there... Da_G is indeed a clean one but I hate the new builds with the big buttons at the bottom...
@ Agent_47, is the rom you propose has this as well I suppose...
;(

Oh man.. you beat me. Will try a little later. Gotta make a backup 1st.
I have less work then you ;D As my ROM is nearly finished.
You think its possible to get the 6.5 Smooth Scrolling into 6.1? Thats what my main goal is at this point.
I think that the Touch FLO does the job well. Doesn't it?
Finally I finished this ROM. Download in #1 post.
Any feedback?
just a bit surprised that any one wants to use winmo 6.1.
For me its like using win 3.x instead of win7- just my point of view ;p
any way congrats on this one.
I'll probably flash this on to my phone tonight. I'm using the AT&T Tilt 2, and the problem I had with the stock ROM was that Touch Flo 3D was sluggish and music on both the HTC Audio Manager and MicroFi Nitrogen would skip and generally become unplayable if the phone reception was interrupted (on a subway, for example).
I flashed my phone to the Deep Shining ROM last night, which is cool, but still kinda slow, plus, PocketScrobbler keeps giving me a time server mismatch error which prevents me from recording my plays onto last.fm, which is really important for me. Finally, the DeepShining ROM uses a different physical keyboard layout than the one of the AT&T phones, so some of the keys don't work correctly (@ key becomes 1, for example). I never had the audio problems or last.fm problems on my LG Incite phone (running 6.1 and later, a cooked 6.5 ROM), so I'd like to give this a try.
What functionality will I lose with 6.1? Will Microsoft MyPhone and the Winmo app store still work? How about touchscreen responsiveness? That's really all I care about. Most other third party apps I use are 6.1 compatible.

You can download MyPhone app cab from http://www.microsoft.com/myphone. Works on WM6.1.
The app store is to download somewhere in microsoft site too, dunno where as I personally don't use it.
I'l flash this weekend and hopefully give you feedback. Hopefullt the speed will be better in fpsce wihout all the 6.5 eyecandy.
Remember to turn off the GfxBoost before running this emulator. It may slow it down.
Aha, I messed something up with the drivers while fixing my remote control problem, so i'll upload a fixed version (this one is a bit unstable, my fault) xD

Hello,
I do use WM6.1. becouse the WM6.5 is too heavy on resources. Even if you turn the ResProxy on dynamic, and disable the push internet the memory usage is high. After some days of use the TP2 slows down and you can't run more then 2 programs or whatever. That's why I switched back. Ach, and this Honeycomb is driving me crazy X_x

I posted a MyPhone cab at the #1 post. Also uploaded a fixed version of the ROM.
This rom is great. Was a bit worried at first because I was getting no service, but then realised that it is set to airplane mode on start up. But everything is running smooth, and boy oh boy is it quick. No lag what so ever, except every now and then as soon as you have come out of an application and then use the slider, but even then, its only for a microsecond.
I thought I was going to miss W6.5, BUT, in all honesty, i think I have become so used to it, and its sluggish behaviour, that now using 6.1 again has no issues. I prefer the start menu to the honey comb, and my fingers and thumb are just the right size for the buttons, so I think I might actually leave it with 6.1. Very nice hybrid rom Jacko. Thank you for this. I am VERY pleased with it.
using it for just 1 hour now but have to say what a relief smooth fast and reliable thanks 6.1 rocks for the rodium
Hey guys, First off I wanna thank all the wonderful people in this awesome forum for their help in making me get the best out of my phone, truly you guys are great !
So, I did my 'research' into ROM updating and stuff (been a homebrewer on various mobile/portable devices before, just got an old WM6.1 Opal from my brother and decided to play with it )
So, I'd been using the stock WM6.1 + Manila (TouchFlow 2D) that HTC provides in India (Idea Splash Screen ROM) and a few awesome apps such as the M2DC and stuff. Loved it till I'd did something wrong with the M2DC that it stopped displaying the weather (it would show nothing but "Select your city" ). Also, I'd HSPL'd the device a while back using 2.00.cmon (ty cmonex ) So, I wanted to try a few ROMs. The first ever ROM I installed was jagan's Evolution2, it was an awesome ROM, zero bugs (except for ActiveSync; which maybe my fault), but I didn't like the button layout at the bottom of the device, I also missed Manila 2D. So I tried out Opal_WM6.5_D20_21896_WWE loving the design and stuff, but it ain't as smooth
All those gripes aside, I can't seem to get ActiveSync working at all ! With both of these ROMs, was it because I didn't remove the microSD/SIM while flashing or some other fault of mine or does 6.5 not work with Activesync 4.5. The only dialog I get when I try to get it to work is that " It needs Activesync 4.5 or later", I do have 4.5 installed, all the necessary windows components installed, etc ! I don't know why it doesn't work anymore. It used to work perfectly till I flashed these ROMs, any way I can get this to work as I need to get back a ton of contacts and stuff
What's your OS? XP, Vista, or 7??
On XP re-install Activesync and see what happens.
Vista requires an Activesync update from Microsoft, visit their site and look for it.
on Windows 7 I'm using the Evolution 2 ROM and it syncs fine right from the beginning, never had any kind of trouble.
If re-installing doesn't solve your problem, try deleting the partnership, and creating a new one.
BTW, you should try the new Evo 2.5A, it has a newer version of Manila 2D, and a different button layout.
Tell us what happens.
Good luck.
Solution on WM 6.5

I'm sorry for my english...
The problem is in the USB to PC configuration. For example, on my WM6.5 the procedure is:
1) Start --> System --> USBtoPC
2) Clear the checkbox "Enable faster data synchronization"
(Clear this check if ActiveSync does not recognize the device)
Good luck!
Hello!
So I am having some problems with my X1. It is laggy and it freezes pretty often. Sometimes I have to remove the battery many times in a day becouse of freezing. And writing with hardware keyboard isn't very nice anymore becouse the letter are coming to screen with delay and sometimes it skips over some letters. Then I have also had some weird problems sometimes that when someone calls to me and I try to answer the phone it just disconnects the call. And phone has freezed couple of times on its own without I've done anything with it. Once it didn't wake me up in the morning becouse it had freezed during night. So I really can't trust this machine at the moment.
I did hard reset couple of months ago becouse I had some similar problems before. Now it is not so bad but still annoying. I am considering buying new phone but I like this one and if there is way to make it work it would be nice.
So I am using Windows Mobile 6.1 original version and I haven' done any modifications. Just using mobile shell panel and couple other software. So I would like to get my phone stable and reliable again.
they sound like all the problems i've had with a custom rom! this never happened to me on 6.1 :S did you ever flash any custom roms before then go back to 6.1?

No I've never used custom rom. Although I bought this phone used little bit over year ago so I can't know for sure if previous owner had tried out some custom rom. But I still doubt it. This phone was just couple of months old when I bought it.
You have any ideas how to get rid of these problems?
Have you tried reflashing your rom using SEUS? Another advice I can give you is to install a decent task manager that shows all running processes. Maybe there is some kind of software running in the background that destabilizes your phone. Check Windows\StartUp to see if your phone loads any additional programs during the boot sequence.

Thanks for your input altae!
I haven't tried reflashing rom. I have no idea how it works. So if you could give me some kind of clear step by step instructions or link. And does it remove all the saved data in the phone?
And I checked Windows/Startup folder and there are four items in there.
Paneldefault
panelmanager
Panolauncher
RunGNAgent
I am using Panoramic launchpad so the Panolauncher belongs to that program. Panoramic launchpad is quite nice program but I think it is little bit buggy. Should I remove it? But I don't hve idea what are the other programs. I've used xperiatweak to change the startup panel to the mobile shell so I think "Paneldefault" and "panelmanager" could refer that perhaps?
edit:And btw here is list of programs I've installed.
Panoramic Launchpad
Spb Mobile shell
Spb Keyboard
Resco explorer
Clifford's XperiaTweak
Resco photoviewer pro
CoreCodec CorePlayer
Burrotech Scan2PDF
Aidem Pocket Painter
Spb TV
Viksoe.dk Flite
DS-Info DiamondTV
Adisasta wmTorrent v3
PPCLINK HiCalc
+All the original X1 programs
Paneldefault belongs to Xperia Tweak. It loads the default panel you have set. Panelmanager is what it's called, the panelmanager Panolauncher could indeed be a reason for your problems. Why don't you delete the entry in the startup folder. You can still launch it manually. I don't know RunGNAgent.
To reflash your rom got to SE website and download SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Software) from the support section. It explains step by step how to update. Post the results and we will see how to proceed.
Do a hard-reset or flash to one of the custom ROMs. Is it just me or does these things happen inevitably? Seems like the case for me. I hard-reset once every few months.
