Error 270 - - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

IPL:5.04.0001
SPL:5.04.000
HTC Herald/ non-branded
ROM:
Tried to Update ROM but ive had no luck. i installed the Aserg Policy Cab, ran it. Soft reset the phone. After that the phone would not go passed the splash.
Ive put the device in bootloader, and Ran the RUU but it did not work. Ive tried HardSPLing the phone again, it did not work.
Every ROM I try in bootloader mode I get error 270 - the file is corrupt. All the herald files cant be corrupt.
If i try, running the ruu utility, without putting the phone in bootloader, the device keeps restarting itself.
I've tried the SD card method. Formatted the card to Fat32 put the nbh file in there named it Heraimg.nbh. Didn't do anything. used canonyang.nbh. didnt do anything. When i pop the SD card in, nothing happens.
Any other idea's. Someone mentions removing the spl.nbh file and running it.. but I dont see how that would help.

the SPL contains the CID lock so you should remove it if your phone is Hardspl'd
your phone, however, is not. It is possible that the HardSPL was removed by reflashing the RUU, but it has been shown that doing so generally does not bode well for the phone.

It might be due to the newer SPL. Your SPL is a 5.x.x.x series and the HardSPL was created with a 4.x.x.x series SPL. I'm not sure if that's the problem, but I wonder if that's a factor...

How do I remove the CID lock on the SPL.
I cant even HardSPL the phone anymore becuase the phone keeps booting 3% of the way. I had a TouchIT ROM on the phone as well.
Is there a way to get a RUU that was designed around the 5.0 SPL

Still no open solution for bricked P3600i

After flashing the rom for WM 6.1 with error flashing, my P3600i bricked and could not load into window mobile, there is error 270 when installation the hard spl or any cooked rom. And check by the softawre mtty with command task 32, the cid level become FF, so I could not flash any rom because it is not supercid.
First, I need to clarify that, the P3600 not equal to P3600i, so the unbrick method of P3600 could not apply for the P3600i.
After reading many messages from forum xda, it is know that the P3600 could use the splxploit to unbrick the P3600, it is a easy way for P3600 to unbrick and then install other WM rom. However, because the rom size is different, the splxploit could not make the P3600i unbrick.
It is know that another method is using the mini SD card with fat 32 format, and Rename the .NBH file to TRINIMG.nbh and copy it to the root folder of your miniSD card, then go to the engineer mode for flashing, however, I think that this method is flashing like using the USB connect PC, and for the P3600, could find the official rom to solve the bricked problem.
Finally, I found the gold card solution from the page http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Elf_GoldCard
, this may be the solution to unbrick the P3600i, it is because it is making the ppc become a supercid, so you have the right to flash another rom, but this is still very complex for other models p3600i to try it.
For the conclusion, there is still not brilliant method to unbrick the P3600i except the senior member that have their professional method. Eg. Flashing the rom with other equipment directly. I think there is only two methods for me to unbrick the P3600i, but I still could not do it.
1. Flashing the official rom for your p3600i the level is "CID", only could install with the official rom. But I could not find any HTC official rom for for P3600i. You need to find the official rom that match with your P3600i, and then you could flash it in the engineer mode or mini SD card method.
2. To cheat the internal OS, making the "CID" level to "SUPERCID", like using the gold card method to unbrick and then install another rom, but this method is still very complicated for P3600i.
3. Wait.......
Futhermore, I have tried the SD card flashing method, format the SD card to fat 32 and tried to flash the p3600i with the official rom, which not same as the CID. The result is failed, so for the conclusion, the SD card flashing method same as flashing the rom from the computer, it is just using another method to flash only.
For the gold card method, I have tried to make the gold card which could jump over the CID check by the SD card, I am following the procedure of the ELF gold card, with the software of QMAT,however, when I generate the HTC gold card for my bricked device's key of trinity, the QMAT software auto shut down, so I could not generate the HTC gold card, I have tried to generate the HTC gold card for Elfin, that's is OK, but I could not use the sd card to boot my device to supercid. And finally, I could not success to flash the rom.
Finally, I have asked the HTC support to provide me the official rom because they haven't released it. They told me that the rom could not give me because this is the original rom and not the update rom, so could not give me, and suggest me send back to HTC for checking. So
I send back the p3600i to the HTC service center for checking and repair, because they have the official rom for my device CID: HTC__601, I think they just flash the device with the HTC official rom, then the device is unbricked. However, the result is very disappointed, they tell me that I need to replace the mainboard for the device to work again, because out of warranty, the price of change mainboard is very expensive (could buy another new model), I argued with them about why the fail of flashing rom, is software the problem, need to change the mainboard, they said this is the only solution to solve the problem, so I rejected their suggestion and got back my bricked P3600i.
I can only to wait for the soultion about how to unbrick the P3600i now.
Waitng the expert to
1. making splxploit for p3600i (because p3600i is 256 Mb rom)
2. the goldcard method, it is difficult to borrow the wm device from other because I dont know there is any risk for the wm
I don't know if I can help you but will try since this forum has helped me.
My P3600 is basically screwed. It's a walking zombie brick phone.
Why zombie? Because I bring it back from the dead everytime!
I dropped my phone quite badly twice in a day a few days back,
Next day I woke up... my pocket alarm had hung and I had to hard reset because a soft reset brought about the Tri-colored bootloader screen.
After that, everything was GONE... so I decided I might as well load a new up-to-date ROM. Was using Akeo's rom happily before that.
Did the usual SPL routine, new radio, new OS rom.
Installed new stuff...
But then phone would continually enter bootloader screen most of the time when I did a soft-reset. Except that it would have a terrible error message that only gave me the option of trying to restart without changes or basically reset everything to original settings (or something like that which meant everything is gone again). With the error message in place... nothing would work.
Could not reset into normal bootloader. (without the error message)
Windows mtty.exe method could not connect. (it would under normal bootloader)
Activesync was obviously disabledsync.
Flashed radio, spl and OS roms repeatedly using Des' SSPL and Olio's HardSPL 1.20 and 1.30 to no effect. It would always come back with that error on a random reset.
Then I read about the method of flashing with SD card. But this didn't solve my problem... it would come back still after a reset.
Mtty.exe from Windows XP to format nand and mark bad blocks etc.
Nothing found.
Finally, I almost gave up.
Then out of desperate measure.
I decided to leave a copy of a TRINIMG.nbh in the SDcard for GOOD!
It's basically an SPL image. Done with the NBHutil.
Used it to split out the HardSPL 1.30 spl.nb and merged it with the splash.nb and sub-splash.nb from my current OS rom.
Everytime I reset... there's still a chance it will enter bootloader mode with that horrible error message. But in such a situation... I now simply choose not to reset settings to default and instead simply pull out the battery.
Then plug it back in and power it on again. 80% of the time... it boots back into Windows mobile like normal on the first try! No loss of settings... nothing nasty. Back to normal! The other 20% of the time? I just pull out the battery and power it on more times! Till it works! Hasn't failed me yet in 5 days. Mind you, I was bricking it twice a day before this. That's progress!
I simply use SPL backup to make a full backup anyway whenever I install any new software etc, contacts etc.
Give it a shot.
I don't know why it worked for me...
Maybe I have bad sectors or something where the SPL is.
Whatever it is... the SDcard's TRINIMG.nbh works as my SPL now.
Think of it as a case of a bad bootup sequence on an old dos system needing a backup msdos bootdisk to do the trick!
Good luck!
Hard SPL 1.30 should be SuperCID and having that boot from SDcard may resolve your flashing issues. IF IT WORKS!
Thank you for your experience, I will try your method later!

I did not try another method because I have borrowed my P3600i for my friend to help me unbricked. And finally, he was done.
My friend tell me, he is trying the old official rom of P3600, he tells me that he dumps from his P3600, I dont know how he dumps and then he is using the hex editor to MODIFY (HEX EDIT) the ROM FOR THE P3600i. You could refer to this page for the modify method
"http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399779". And finally could success to flash the rom.
I think for the P3600i user, you could try the official rom of P3600, of the same location, for modifying the rom size, and then try to flash the bricked p3600i.
Now I could install the hardspl and try another cooked rom again.
Thank the help of my friend.

Urgent help pls. "Loading" screen on

OK. Decided to upload a new ROM as my phone was getting slow and unusable.
It's an O2 XDA (Touch Diamond) with:
Touchflo v3 Build 29946
ROM 1.93.206.6 WWE
09/08/08
Radio 1.00.25.05
Protocol 52.29.25.12H
Boot R1.00.25.05
I downloaded Olinex's unsigned developer Hard SPL and I extracted the NBH file and renamed it DIAMIMG.NBH following the advice here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2707841&postcount=4035
On soft reset I pushed the vol down and back buttons to get the boot loader stripes, then let go.
I now have a screen which says "Loading..." and has done for 20 minutes. I have now got the phone on charge while I wait for some help to see what to do next, just in case this is a critical stage - don't want to brick it.
Reading through again I am concerned that this was a procedure for rom upgrade not Hard SPL install, can someone tell me please?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Well, I ended up taking the battery off to get it to reboot. It seems to boot fine back into the old ROM.
I still intend to upgrade it (to SwiftBL's v7.5) but have a few questions:
1. Can the HardSPL be run from the internal storage card? If so is it simply running the exe from the unpacked zip from within a folder? ActiveSync is a bit too flaky for me.
2. Do I need the SIM card in the phone at any stage of the ROM upgrade?
3. On the original ROM I get a drop down menu to setup the phone to the UK O2 network settings. If I load a new ROM, will I need to know these settings?
Cheers
1. HardSPL cannot be run from storage. Only Activesync or Bootloader
2. No. You can flash without SIM card
3. You can use connection setup on any new ROM. Usually starts straight after initial setup.
OK here's where I'm at now.
Downloaded jockyw2001's HardSPL 1.24
Ran it and it got as far as prompting me to run on the phone. I said 'Yes' and the HTC screen went black as expected.
Next stage was to run the DiamondCustomRUU.exe file which I did but this is waiting for ActiveSync. ActiveSync will not sync with the phone now, I guess because the phone is not 'on'?
Where do I go from here?
Use the Hard-SPL in my sig with your RUU.
Thanks, will do (it's not the one mentioned in the ROM author's description though).
So how do I recover the phone from the black screen now? Is it safe to remove the battery to reset?
Battery pulled after reading this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-427945.html
I'll try the SPL you mentioned now.....
Had a good search but can't find out. This Olinex zip contains just one file RUU_Signed.nbh.
Where do I get the other files from to run this?
use the attached . It has the RUU exe and the nbh.
Thanks. This is a signed version I see, was going to use SwiftBL's ROM which requires unsigned.
May take a look at other roms that use signed unless you think that I can load the SwiftBL rom with this version?

Problem after flashing Titanium Ultimate on Kaiser Tytn II, please help!

Hi, i'm totally new to flashing phones etc. I have a tytn II and was running windows 6 on it.
I Flashed it with Hard SPL, and then downloaded TPC 23053 Titanium Ultimate. It's the one on the thread that says you don't need to flash a stock ROM first.
I flashed it and all went fine, booted up and alligned the screen etc. It then rebooted itself then loaded back up. All seemed to be ok, sound and camera wasn't working. In the fourth post of the titanium thread, it says the recommened SPL and radio.
which are Recommended SPL 3.34 Radio 1.70.18.02
So i downloaded both, flashed the SPL and then the radio. Now when i boot i get a black and white image of a tribal kind of dragon. It asked me to setup the phone again so i alligned the screen again. Sound and camera now worked.
However, i was usuing it for a while and then for some reason programs stop loading, it says something like, it's write protected or make sure you have the correct security permissions. When i plug into the pc i can't get anything off the storage card or the phone, it says permission denied.
So when i reboot the phone, it keeps asking me to setup again so i lose all my contacts that i have added etc. I can turn the phone on and off and it's fine, but then eventually does the wierd permissions and access denied thing and when i reboot always asks me to setup the phone.
Can anyone help me as to why this is doing this? I read something about CID unlock etc, is it to do with that because i didn't perform this step.
Not sure why everytime i reboot the phone it asks me to setup the phone again, sometimes it doesn't, it's usually after it stops letting me open programs.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.
Maybe reflash.
You should have posted this in the thread made for the rom.
Thanks for the reply, sorry it's in the wrong place.
Can i flash back to windows 6, is this possible as titanium is 6.5 and do you know where i can find the "stock rom" for the tytn ii.
I think the problem is i didn't flash to stock rom first, but i was already running the stock rom. What was on itwhen i bought it from the shop so it's the same thing isn't it?
Obviously you must have flashed Hardspl and sim/cid unlocked your phone. Upgrade your hardspl reflash with a stock 6.1 rom from the wiki .I know it says that you don't have to flash stock first, but when flashing 6.5 roms, it is always a good to flash stock first to clean out the extended rom.
Flash a stock rom , flash ultimate, hard eset and the set up.
Thanks, i will try it now. I'm following these instructions. Do i need to do all of this including the bootloader, or just to restore the OS to step 2? Also once done do i need to reinstall HardSPL?
1. Get the original ROM for your device (HTC or ATT)
2. Flash the OEM ROM to your device (this will restore your OS but not the bootloader, we'll get to that below)
3. Copy the ROM to a temp folder and extract it, I use WinRAR, just right click on it and select "Extract to Here"
4. After extracting the ROM you should have a several files here, one called RUU_signed.nbh is the one we're looking for. Copy this file to another empty temp directory.
5. Download NBHExtract and follow the instructions in the link to extract the NB files from the ROM (essentially just copy nbhextract.exe to the temp folder where the nbh file is and run it from a command line - like so C:\temp\kitchen\>nbhextract.exe RUU_signed.nbh
6. You should now have several .nb files in that directory, the one we're interested in is the 01_SPL.nb.
7. Now you have to create an NBH file with just the SPL, to do that download htcrt (HTC Rom Tool).
8. Run the tool and under the ROM Builder tab select Kaiser, the rest on the left side doesn't matter right now. On the right side of this window click the "..." next to SPL and select the 01_SPL.nb you extracted from the OEM ROM. This should be the only thing added under Firmware Contents. Click Build ROM.
9. You should now have a NBH file that is relatively small (about 258K), copy this NBH file to a new empty directory
10. Download pof's KaiserCustomRUU.exe and put this in the same directory used in step 9. Don't run this yet.
11. Download pof's SSPL-KAIS.exe and copy it to your phone
12. Run SSPL.KAIS.exe from your phone (make sure you do this on your actual device and not your PC)
13. When you have the bootloader screen on your phone run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from the folder used in step 10.
14. After it's finished verify your SPL by holding down power and camera buttons while doing a soft reset.
15. Send your device back for warranty repair or replacement.
No you don't have to do all that. That is just if you want to restore your phone for warranty return. All you have to do is go to the wiki. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs and download a stock rom to your desktop. Connect your phone and run the RUU and follow the onscreen.
After your phone is flashed with stock, just reflash Ultimate the same way.
First however , enter bootloader , depress camera and power button while soft resetting, and check your spl, if it is still 1.0 olipro , upgrade it first to 3.29 or 3.34 using this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498320
Once your phone is hardspl'd you never have to do it again
Thanks very much for your help. I have 3.29 on there at the moment, should i flash to 3.34, then flash to stock rom, and then to ultimate again.
Or flash stock rom, then 3.34 SPL and then ultimate?

You can do it both ways it doesn't matter since you already have hardspl on your device and basically you are updating the current 3.29 to 3.34 to have a better performance with the ultimate rom.
I downloaded 3.34 SPL, and transfered the 3 files, JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe and JumpSPL1.93-KAIS etc to my device, it then says to take the battery out.
However, when i do this my device hard resets, i have to setup the phone again. Because it hard resets it deletes the 3 files so i can't run JumpSPL1.56
How important is taking the battery out after transferring the files to my device. How can i get round this, shall i just run the file without removing the battery?

No, it's important to remove it. How long are you leaving the battery out for? And was it over 50% charge before you removed it?
I'm assuming you followed steps 1-4 to the letter.
1. Copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe, JumpSPL1.93-KAIS.exe and JumpSPL1.94-KAIS.exe to your device memory (NOT STORAGE CARD)
2. Pull out the battery and reinsert it (this step IS important) *DONT turn phone back on yet*
3. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS!!
4. Turn phone back on and let it boot back into your operating system
It sounds like there could be a hardware problem from all the hard resets happening there. Have you made sure that the reset button at the bottom is functioning correctly and isnt blocked by any dirt etc?

I wouldn't complicate things that are more than clear. The intructions literally says the following: 2. Pull out the battery and reinsert it (this step IS important) *DONT turn phone back on yet*. Just follow them, probably mskip for doing this tutorial spent a lot of time "trial n error". It really won't take anytime to do this step
Yep i follow those steps. I leave the battery out for about 30 seconds as it says. But obviously it hard resets so i can't do this at all as the files aren't there when i put battery back in. I have to set up the phone again.
I suppose i could just flash the stock rom, then see if that works when i remove the battery and then i can update the SPL? soft reset isn't blocked by dirt either.
If that fails i'm stuck with a bad phone

Well yeah... if you had read it all you would know that you are meant to be doing all of this using a stock rom on your device. There's your problem right there.
If you already have hard spl on your phone so you don't need to go through all the steps of flashing hardspl for the first time. Just upgrade the easy way from the SD card.
I have had 3.29 on my phone and have flashed over a hundred times with never a problem, including Ultimate several times. Just try flashing a stock rom first and then Ultimate. Then hard rest and then setup the rom. If i works great, if nt then you can always upgrade your spl later.
Stuntdouble, theres no need to be like that, some people are new to this, and if you had read my previous posts you'll see that i didn't flash to stock rom first, because i'd just got it from the shop, so the stock ROM was already on it. I didn't think i needed to flash it with the same one again first. Thanks for the help though everyone, I've now flashed stock rom, and gonna try ultimate again/
Sorry, but the amount of people on here who don't actually read FAQ's/Stickies before flashing their device don't get much sympathy from me. I think people underestimate the risks involved when flashing for the 1st time. However i've been having a bad day so I apologise for snapping.
Yeah no worries, it annoys me too when there are tutorials yet people can't be bothered and just post asking how to do something. But the only reason i didn't flash a stock ROM was because i got it from the shop so didn't think i needed too.
There is something i would like to know though that i can't find how to do. I'm trying to install 3.34 Hard SPL now, i have 3.29 at the mo. I don't have a card reader unforunatley so can't format my card to FAT32 like it says to if installing from card.
Is there an easy way to upgrade it other than using storage card? Or can i do the same steps as when i first did it. i.e, run the JumpSPL 1.56 but instead of opening the 3.29 KaiserCustomRUU, i open the 3.34 Kaisercustomruu?
I apologise if this info is anywhere, but i've read all the faqs and searched google and can't seem to find a guide on upgrading SPL from 3.29, it only tells you how to first install 3.29.
Thanks.
Off with their heads!
Ok i ran JumpSPL 1.56 and then ran the KaiserCustomRUU of the 3.34 Hard SPL, now when booting i get the dragon spaslh screen, but when i go to bootloader, it still says 1.29.
What am i doing wrong?
Fixed this now, thanks for everyones help appretiated

Trying to flash and going nowhere...

Trying to flash to nand but the indicator never goes past 0% on my phone and eventually the program errors out.
ERROR[262] UPDATE ERROR
I can remove the battery from my phone, and turn it back on and it goes back into Windows Mobile.
I can't figure out what is going on...
The ROMUpdateUtility I'm running says version 3.27.4.3 in the title bar. I'm running Windows 7 with UAC disable and as an administrator.
The only thing I noticed that's strange is when it analyzes my phone, it doesn't tell me the 'name' of my ROM or whatever, it's blank. I'm running the WM6.1 Alltel ROM (official)...
I unlocked my phone a long time ago... Could it have failed, and that be the issue?
Hi,
First, confirm that your phone is unlocked.
Go to bootloader to confirm that you see: 2.31 CoKe MFG
If is unlocked, then boot back into WinMo and copy your .nbh file to the root of your SD card and rename it to VOGUIMG.NBH.
Then go back into bootloader mode.
When it enters bootloader mode, it will recognize that you have the NBH file in the root of the SD Card. Follow the instructions to flash the NBH to your phone.
Good luck!
Note: using this method, you do not need the ROMUpdateUtility.
yeah you will get the 262 error if you didn't unlock.
If you need to unlock, here is the link that I used.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370
I unlocked... Tried to flash the 3.42.50 radio first and it went to 8% then said the utility couldn't be used to flash my phone and my phone reset... ARGH...
Going to try the android now...
And it worked... Guess the radio file I have isn't the right one for the Vogue... Anyone have it?

Not loading Rom, going to hardSPL

When i turn my phone on it doesn't go to the splash screen, it instead goes to the hardSPL screen, and will then reinstall my rom if i let it. Even after i do that it still goes to the hardSPL. The only thing that made it boot normally was removing the battery leaving it for a while but then when i restarted it went back into loading hardSPL.
Any ideas for what i could do to fix this?
I dont know what Rom i am running, its currently not booting.. but i am running hardSPL 3.29
I am reinstalling the rom using the microSD card.
If you can help at all, much appriciated!!!

Try reinstalling a stock Kaiser rom
I tried that, and nothing. It is still going straight to hard SPL. and draining the onboard chips no longer works.. Any more ideas??
When you are in bootloader, try to install the stock rom not with the sd card method. I think your problem relies in flashing through your card and everytime you boot..it takes you to hardslp.
Nope..
The RUU doesnt recognise there is any image on the phone, even just after installing its stock one.
Can i update HardSPL somehow?

Try different stock roms since I read that you don't even know which rom are U running.
I tried various other stock roms, some 6.0 and some 6.1, and all to no avail.
What I notice is that when I run the update program, there is no previous image version each time. I therefore think that the boot loader isnt being told there is any rom to run, and is therefore just running HardSPL. (apologies for the incorrect terminology and/or understanding of how it works)
To clasify exactly how I am installing these roms, I have downloaded them and running the straight .exe, not extracting out the Rom Update Utility (RUU) and the .nbh file from the .exe file. My phone doesnt have a SD card in it. Each time I run the RUU, it runs through as normal, aside from displaying no previous image number. When my phone restarts at the end of the update, it goes straight back to the tricolour HardSPL screen, and the RUU ignorantly tells me the update was a success.

I have a similar problem, i RUU the image but it doesn't actually flash the phone memory. If you look carefully to what's reported on the LCD during flash, i bet the "-" charachter besides the various items to be flashed (IPL, BOOTLOADER, GSM, SPLASH, EXTROM, OS if i remember correctly) doesn't turn to an "OK" to all items. That means the flashing process is not ended and so no image is actually flashed on the phone even if it seems to be. That's why a previous image number isn't displayed.
My phone has a standard SPL and is still bricked, but yours has HSPL flashed. You can try using Frankenkaiser, i hope it could help.
Good luck
Bye
Sweet! got it working through using the spl avalible here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420683
