Hmm, there is no memory card in the phone, maybe if I tried to put one in?
Hmm...

bump for support

uh you need to run a soft spl from your phone before you can flash a hard spl. And you NEED a hard spl on your phone before you can start flashing roms and radios....
You need to do alot more reading otherwise your going to end up with a brick...

husband bricked wing .....any advice

i have been roming and cooking with my tmobile wing for about a year now so ive become really good at it i have yet to brick my phone.....UNTILL NOW
MY NOOB HUSBAND thought while i was at work and he was using my phone to rom it he didn't know that certin roms go with certin phones so when he put the neo rom onto my tmoble wing he bricked it
i have it into bootloader mode but when i plugh it inot the usb activesync wont reconize it so i am having a hard time hard spl ing it...is the phone useless now or is there a way to fix it. im also getting an rom error. anyone have any advice....
What SPL is it showing? If your phone wasn't HardSPL'ed before, he may have ruined it and nothing will fix it short of changing the motherboard. Try flashing it with the stock RUU if it's not HardSPLed. If it is, try flashing it with your ROM named HERAIMG.nbh and place it in your SD card. Good luck.
on the bootloader screen it shows
ipl 4.10.0002
spl 4.10.0000

Sounds like the IPL and SPL are still intact. It's not HardSPL'ed so just try the stock RUU. Not having the green icon on activesync doesn't mean it doesn't see it. It means that it isn't synchronizing.
yup same thing happened to me with my first flash. i used a different rom and thought i bricked. recovered with the stock RUU
divorce him. it's that simple
jkjk
yeah, just RUU it.
lol divorce him thatsfunny, the papers were out but lucky for him i fixed it lol...i shoulda thought of using the stock rom to begin with thanks eveyone for your help and advice

Great to hear that it's working, again! Now, for an important part: So you're a silent personal cook who only cooks for herself? ^_^
No, the most important part is... HARD SPL THAT THING! lol
If mine read
IPL 4.26.0002
SPL 4.26.0000
is that really bad?
Thanks for your help
EDIT:
Thanks God, it isn't. Was able to install TMobile's ROM from Bootloader.
IF others have bricked their Herald/Wing:
1. Download TMobile's ROM from here : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Herald_Upgrades (Choose 4.26.531.4)
2. Enter Bootloader on your Wing (Hold in the camera button and then soft reset with your stylus)
3. Run the TMobile ROM.
It worked for me. Hope it does for you too.

Change SPL From SD Card?

A bunch of you guys know my kaiser is stuck in an infinite boot loop...
I have hardspl 3.56 on it currently. Worse mistake ever. It doesn't have most of the commands you use with mtty to recover...
From what I've seen, to replace the hardspl you have to run the softspl program from inside windows on the phone. And to get it back to factory spl you also have to run a program from windows on the phone. Is there no other way to do this? If we can install radios and stuff off of the SD card, is there anyway to embed an spl into that installer or another method? I think If I could get the spl replaced I could get my phone fixed using mtty.
Thanks,
nomb
the thing is spl has to load outside of the boot, oader screen its like trying to install windows while using it..your using the bootloader when you flash from sd therefore you cant update spl (which is the bootloader) from within itself you must be in the OS and load a softspl emulating a bootloader mode
Thats weird I swear I was able to put my hermes spl back to factory with it bricked. So then basically I might as well through my kaiser away?

talk with the mods..alltheway might help or even jocky they can help you unbrick your device and if not just take it to a att device support center and say you dont know what happened and youl get a new device (if your with att)

If you did the ATT warranty exchange since it is still under warranty, will they check to see if you changed the SPL on the device? And if they do what are the repercussions?

They probably check, and if they do, they will bill you $400, their "cost" for the Tilt.

That may be true. But it will say something like SPL 3.56.0000; not SPL 3.56.Hard.
Do you have any commendations? I really feel like I should be able to get my phone working again.
Basically I restarted my phone and now it is stuck. I turns on and shows the ATT splash screen and then when it should show you all the versioning information in the bottom right corner it restarts itself and starts all over. I keeps doing this. I can get into the bootloader and have been able to flash roms onto it using usb. I thought I could recover using mtty and then found out that hardspl3.56 doesn't have the commands needed in it.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

i sent in a device with hardspl and didnt get billed...ive heard they dont check spl..let alone the bootloader a long as it is a cingular rom then your good to go and if it cant boot then your set

Can't flash Kaiser HardSPL in any way???

Iv'e tryed to flash HardSPL to Kaiser... Downloaded various unlockers/flashers, even SD card solution... When trying to flash over usb with some Kaiser-HardSPL.exe - after entering tricolor mode and when progressbar appears it always stuck on 0%, and nothing happens... Update utility shows error (Rom update utility encountered communication error or smth.) and sugests me to do recovery. Tryed everything - SoftSpl1.56, Softspl1.93, SSpl-kais...
Other method i've tryed - SD card
Iv'e followed instructions, formatted card, copied those two files (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420683) to sd card, but after resetting Kaiser it only shows "Loading..." and hangs... no restart, nothing... just "loading..." on screen...
Bootloader menu shows following versions:
KAIS130
SPL-3.29.0000
CPLD-8
somehow... after trying another 1000 -th time... it just flashed...
Have exactly the same problem, tried all other solutions! any idea on what the last method was that worked?
When flashing via USB it will hang at 0% (and fail w/ 260 error on PC side) if the SD card is left in. I've made that mistake more than once.
Remember to remove SIM, too.
I don't have sd card and I've got the same problem...
Any ideas?
I have the same problem. I want to upgrade Hard SPL 3.24 to newer version. I always get 262 error. Also tried all possible ways (MicroSD uses FAT32, but I didn't formatted It, because I don't have SD adapter).
Sometimes It's shown that flashing complete, but HardSPL version still is the same.

Are you using sspl to upgrade? sim and sd out? usb cable or sd flash? Do you already have a hspl and are just upgrading?
If you're on an original spl you must use sspl to do it.
If you're upgrading then you can use the kaisdiag file by cmonex and an sd.
aaaaahhhhh

i got into the bootloader - connected it to the USB - shows USB on the bottom... how do i flash a rom then? CustomRUU? or is there a way to place the nbh on the internal storage?
There's No way to place it on the internal storage if you cant get into Windows. This is why I always keep a copy of my current ROM in the Internal Storage, so i can reflash if I need to.
Try doing it over USB, it should still work.
no luck

Is it bricked? (Upgrade ROM error)

(I'm not 100% sure this is the correct forum, but since it is very ROM related it didn't feel all wrong to put it in here...)
Hi guys. After som serious flashing of cooked ROMs I decided for some unknown reason that I should try to restore a stock ROM. Now, being very tired as I was, i completely forgott that its probably a good idea to flash a new Stock ROM on the unit BEFORE flashing it with a signed SPL....so I just flashed the Signed SPL to the device. That in it self seem to have gone ok, because when I start the unit it say "SPL-1.15.0000". Problem is though that it also says "Upgrade ROM error, please try again"
Now, what should I do? Have tried put both signed and unsigned SPLs on the storage card and started up via the volume down/pwr button thingy, but that does not seem to do anything. I have also tried to attach the unit to a USB port when in tricolor mode ("USB" shows up on the screen) and tried the CustomRUU program. It finds the device and starts to "upgrade" (grey screen on the device with 0%) but then it just doesnt seem to get any further...
As the device was working fine with a custom ROM before I started all this, I suspect that the main problem proably is that I now have a Standard SPL with a cooked ROM, and that they collide sort of. I, as well as the Blackstone, is now stuck and I am all out of ideas what to do? Have also tried Hard and Soft resets, but that doesnt seem to change anything.
Help!
try removing the SD Card and put the phone into bootloader mode and re-flash the stock ROM! if this doesn't work ... still with the SD Card removed try flashing to USPL and flash the stock ROM again!
hope this helps
You can try USPL on your HD and flash a custom or stock ROM with it.

Thanks for the feedback!
Just be be sure, "into bootloader mode" is when you start the device holding down volume down and powerkey until you see the tricolor screen? Then that is probably what I have tried to do for a while now without success (total success that is, I do get into the tricolored screen)). Or maybe I am doing something wrong, could you perhaps point to a detailed explaination besides the one in "HardSPL" thread?
USPL I havnt tried, will do that! Is it still so that trying to do USPL on Vista is asking for trouble?
I read somewhere that Stock ROMs should only be flashed from internal storage, not SD cards, is that true? If so, how do I go about accessing that storage now when it doesnt show up in the file explorer on my PC (PC recognizes it as USB device, "HTC Sync" but I get no file access to it).

bootloader mode is when you power off the device and hold the volume button down and press power till you get the tricolor screen...
so here is what you need to do .
1. remove the sd card
2. go into the tricolor mode connect your device to the pc and make sure it says (USB) at the bottom
3. run the stock shipped exe from you pc
if that didn't work then you should try the USPL version.. and there is a guide if you are using vista.. i just tried and worked fine.. here it is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3331078&postcount=153
and the reason i'm asking you to remove the sd card because if you have a rom (blacimg.nbh) it won't let you do anything it will try to flash from the sd card and right now you don't want to do that.
and you shouldn't put any rom into the internal storage of the phone..

i don't think anything would happen... the file will get deleted when you flash as the rest of the files in the internal memory
Thank you everyone! The USPL thing solved it, when I did it from a XP machine! The once bricked Blackstone is not alive an kicking again!
About USPL, I saw the workaround for Vista, but downgrading a few components to make it work just doesn't seem like a safe way to do it. And I cant help but to think that it might have unwanted side affects, ie affecting system stability. But maybe I am wrong?
Going back to shipped ROM without bricking?
Hi,
After reading this thread I am now a bit worried and, as a newbie, would appreciate maybe a "simple" answer to my question.
I''ve been experimenting with various cooked ROMs after following the guide in the WIKI for installing HardSPL and then putting the ROM file (BLACKIMG.nbh) on my SD card and installing it using the power on + volume down button method.
However, I now want to revert back to the original "shipped" ROM, which I have downloaded from the list of shipped ROMs via the WIKI (I downloaded the one which closely matched what was originally on my HD - as I didn't know how to backup the actual ROM on my HD at the time).
So, my question:
How should I put the downloaded original/shipped ROM:
RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe
into my HD without bricking it?! Do I just run it on my PC with ActiveSync enabled or do I need to do something to remove the HardSPL or something first?
Sorry if this has been answered previously but I get confused when a thread just makes loads of references to SPLthis and SPLthat etc.!
if you have the HardSPL already installed on your phone then you don't need to do anything more.. just connect your phone to the pc and let it sync (activesync enabled) and flash to any shipped rom you want by simply running the exe file..
