well i'm obviously hoping they follow the soxs, but it was only game 1 and both teams were getting adjusted to the playing style of the other. Celtics d was slacking, LA's pick and roll was killing us but LA's d wasn't that great either. Putting garnett in the post up is something we need to do more of, can't wait till Sunday for GAME 2..

LOL, my feelings are the exact opposite. BOOOOO LA, GO CELTS!! i forsee us winning this series AND THE CHAMPIONSHIP in 6 games. 3 IN BOSTON AND 1 IN LA. WE'LL SEE SUNDAY.

I'm definitely for BOOOOOO BOSTON. Boston has no finals experience nor do most of the players on the team so that's a huge downside. This is Doc River's first Final's appearance and the Zen Master has won 10 (not to mention the many other times he was there but lost). Let's see, Raja Bell had his turn, Bruce Bowen, and probably the whole Boston team will get a shot at him, but Kobe will get through Once again, great offense ALWAYS trumps great defense. Lakers will win in 5...max 6.

I'm sorry but you can bring KG, Alonzo Mourning, Tim Duncan, Raja Bell, (the list continues on forever....), and they still wont stop him. I'm not all over him, but since i'm a huge fan of the game (been playing since i was 7ish and now i play high school ball), seeing such a player like that is just amazing. One thing you should remember, great offense will ALWAYS AND FOREVER trump great defense. History proves it . . .

I agree with you that Kobe is an amazing player - ask most people here in Colorado what they think of him as a person and you will get a far less complimentary assessment. That said, although I am a Boston fan I am also a Gasol fan, and my initial impression was that Kobe and Gasol would be too much for the Celtics, so I was pleasantly surprised when the Celtics took game one. The heroics of Pierce were inspiring. I am glad that it looks like it will be an exciting series (like the NHL final was!), and not a walkover. I would still bet on Lakers to win but I hope it goes 7.

Thanks for that productive post.

LOL
looks like i'm flying solo rooting for the celts! it's all good, i'm a bostonian and have been all of my life, so i guess you can figure out my view on this series is kinda, (or really) bias. One more day and i'll be back on this board. Hopefully still bashin' on LA. LOL, later guys.

with that AWESOME Celts road record, we'll see about that.

Ughh, those refs pised me off so bad--i felt like smashing all of them into the wall. WTH were those gay calls? Apparently, Kobe has to be shot down in order to get a foul or smacked on the face where as Rondo or Allen just have to be tapped. Lakers will still take it tonight--even if those gay refs don't cooperate.

i doubt they will take it tonight, boston d is on point tonight. Defensive boards and stops all day. Offense running the way it's suppose to, 11-0 run in the third with bryant on the court and no help from the refs, no bs call in second half so far. those fouls called on bryant first half, 2 of 3 he deserved running through celtics trying to break the screen? no good... Powe was killing the post in both halfs and rondo is doing a hell of a job running offense.

There's been a whole load of crap calls in the third. I'll say that the lakers are playing like crap as well. HORRIBLE SHOT SELECTION. BENCH NEEDS to step up and wth did Powe COME FROM!?!!? This just pissed me off.

The celts bench has a pretty good arsenal, mix of veteran and rooks that are ready at a moments notice. Powe, he finally got of the bench, he's always produced when needed. Only reason why he doesn't see much time is because perkins is mostly on the floor. And LA's D just isn't there. Up 20 pts going into the forth, BEAT LA!!!

Didn't like how it ended but the celts WIN!!! 2-0 BEAT LA!!!!

Well, if you're the Lakers, you're probably super pissed off, but then again feel some sort of relief. After playing one of the CRAPIEST games of the season and Boston playing amazingly, you manage getting the game to 2 points and a chance at the win. Not bad if you ask me. Had the refs not been so gay, LA would have had a chance to take the Finals back in LA. I still think lakers will get it in 6 (yes 4 straight).

well the celts played amazing D then got stupid in the forth and just let LA get the open looks they wanted and made. I'll give LA credit they have an array of guys who are spot up 3 point killers. Hitting 6 3's in the forth is just unacceptable.
LOL 4 straight? i dont think so. Boston takes game 4 and 6, Game over.

Don't worry even if LA comes back the Celtics will take one from the play book of the Patriots and find a way to cheat.
Besides the NBA is not a real sport. It has become entertainment more then anything. Honestly you could call a foul in the NBA on about every play. The refs make a huge deciding factor on the outcome of the game. To me....that is not a sport.

Favorite NFL Team?

I gotta go with the Dallas Cowboys!
But, this year I don't see them going all the way. Romo still has a little more conditioning to do in my opinion. Also, T.O. is out for a couple games. :\
So who is your Favorite NFL Team?
Mine is the one with best record
Romo has been done in by the Jessica! She is nothing but bad luck...
Au contraire, mon ami... the correct answer is the reigning NFL champion Indianapolis Colts.
The Pats are gonna crash and burn...
cowboys
(only because someone gave me 3 cowboys shirts last year-i really don't know why! but they're cool in the summertime...)
I wouldn't be surprised if the colts won the super bowl again this year

I never had anything against the Giants but damn.. Eli needs to become a little more reliable. That game against the Bills... the Giants defense won that game for them.
Well, I'm am a home town kind of fan. I was born just south of St. Louis so I started out a Cardinal fan. (Yes a Cardinal FOOTBALL fan) I moved to Louisiana in 77 and for over 25 years I tried really really really hard to be a Saints fan........ but they never fail in finding ways to disappoint. Now I live in the Dallas area, so I'm gonna give them Cowboys a try. Ready made dynasty with 5 S.B. championships. I think they are going to be a team I can get behind. Looks like TO has shed the primadonna status and the drama that goes along with it. Just need him back and healthy. Romo has come into his own, but he needs to shed the distraction if you know what I mean. He also needs a little more maturity and experience. If they make it to the Super Bowl, it may be more pressure than he can take.
I have to pull for the Patriots somewhat.... they have one of my kin folk playing on that team (Wes Welker) so I gotta hope he does well.

LOL, I wondered if someone was going to make that offer. I think the folks in St. Louis might pass on that.
I grew up in New Hampshire and have been a life long Patriots fan. I remember watching them get demolished by the Bears in their first Super Bowl. That just makes these last few and this season so much sweeter. I was hoping for two perfect teams this year, but Miami had to blow that by winning a game!
Did any of y'all watch the Pats - Ravens game? I'll prob get flamed now.. but Murderin Ray Lewis and the Ravens went to town on the Pats in that game. I also feel that they won. The time out called on that 4th down play was by a ravens staff member who legally was not allowed to make time out calls. The refs ignored it.
Ravens won that imho.
This makes 3 for the Cowboys! And yes, I think we might go all the way...

Well my lifelong beloved team has had some very bad seasons...however, I have always been and always will remain a loyal member of the Raider Nation!!
Oakland RAIDERS!!!
PS- the thumbnail is actually my first boot screen, and I have another Raiders image on my second boot screen...this is how much I love my team...pretty much everything I own has some form of Raiders insignia on it!
16 wins, a all time NFL record. The Pat's ROCK!! They seem extra motivated by the negative-press and non-believer's...

Yeah i think the Ravens deserved to win that game, but the thing about the Pats is that even though they've almost lost several games, they still pull out the W if even at the last second. And although Im not a fan and i was rooting for them to lose as much as anybody, I think they are an amazing team.

NBA Finals: Lakers and Magic

What better time to start this thread with Fish hitting two clutch 3's and Gasol about to knock out Pietrus. If you're an Orlando fan, sorry you guys are done for. If you're a Lakers fan, let's bring home that title and the first Shaq-less ring!

Same here man. When i heard that, i said that West really doesn't know basketball (which is false), but i was that mad. Let's hear what he has to say after a no-show from Lebron in the Finals and Kobe averaging more than 30.
Lakers in 5, have been saying it from the beginning. Orlando robbed us of the Kobe vs LeBron match up! Actually, the rest of the Cavaliers team did that!

Mayhem Festival 7/26

I'm going to test out the Qik app on the G1 at this concert, and I'm inviting anyone to watch it live at my Qik page(which I'll post on the the 6 hour drive to Chicago). I'll post more info when I know concert lineups.
By the way, anyone going to be there?
holy crap i would kill to see mushroomhead and marilyn manson on the same stage. plus slayer, job for a cowboy and behemoth. i am a metalfan i wish it was coming somewhere near me.
Well I will definetly try to get some of those broadcasted for you. My friends and I are driving 6 hours to see this.
I went to the white river amphitheater show near seattle. Manson sucked, but ****in' slayer kicked ass. All the second stage bands were rad too. Loved cannibal corpse and trivium...

Yeah, Killswitch is sick. It actually sucked they cut all the sets short because of the noise limitations or some ****. Slayer played extra, which cut mansons set short at the end of the night, but I was okay with it. Have fun man!

Manny Pacquiao versus Juan Manuel Marquez 3

Anyone watching it tonight? I can't watch it! can you guys update here please.
What a upset...... to me it didn't really matter who won but it ticks me off that marquez got robbed.... What is boxing coming to, first ortiz, then hopkins and now marquez
Close fight. I think Marquez should have gotten this one or at least a draw.
The funny thing is, Pacquiao did throw more punches/power punches(according to stats).
I'll copy and paste my post from the other thread:
I agree, Marquez worked Pacman over in that fight and got mugged off by the judges. This is another reason that boxing is dying, the fights are fixed. They did it to ensure a big money fight with Mayweather who must now be able to grow a pair, after seeing that fight, and take the fight with Pacman instead of ducking him.
On the other hand, Junior Dos Santos defeated Cain Velasquez decisively via TKO in the first round to win the UFC heavyweight title whilst carrying a torn meniscus. Whilst there were a few weird judging scores at the UFC event it didn't end up robbing the true winner of the fights as the other judges got it right.
did anyone see the ufc championship it was such a fast ko thought it would be a better fight now lets bring back lesner
Lesnar will get annihilated by Alistair. Once Alistair hits him the first time he will turtle up and run like he always does since he doesn't like getting hit and Alistair his HARD!
The belt will be between JDS and AO. That will be a cracking fight.

Shows You've been to

I'm going to see Kasabian on tuesday in Seattle and I got thinking about some of the other shows I've been to: Beck, Matisyahu, Modest Mouse, my friends' country band Aces Up among a few others.
I thought it would be cool to see what all bands you guys have gone to see.
Lets hear em.
Best was definitely Cream. Second would be Rage Against The Machine....
Sent From My Fingers To Your Face.....
Ive been to so many i cant keep track. By far the best were Pantera, Slayer, and Metallica
I don't remember any show I have been to.

Two I wish I had seen.
Best show
GWAR
Hardest hitting
Lamb of God. Pantera, devildriver, and many more bands came out to play with them at the end of the show.
Best surprise
Metallica closing for ozzy. Then King Diamond came out and played with them. They played tons of old punk songs. The sheriff's dept ended up having to come out and close the show. They played for two hours after the show was supposed to end. Noise ordinance killed the party.
A week before Buddy Guy inducted in the Rock n Roll hall of fame, I saw him play with Double Trouble, the band from Stevie Ray Vaughn. That was pure greatness.
I probably see about 40 shows a yr. Come from a college town known for music. Blues, rock, and jazz greats come every year for the Denton arts and jazz fest. I love all music.

A year after dimebag died, down came to town. We booed, threw bottles and gave Phil the bird till he finally walked off stage and quit. Later that night, I guess the doorman didn't know he was who he was and let him into the clubhouse. He then got kicked outoff there. Haha that was hilarious when that his the news.

Saw "38 Special" at a medium size club/bar on Pensacola Beach. Simply amazing. (the club was so tightly packed that I felt as if I was in a can of sardines) They sounded "live", as tight as their studio recordings. You could have put a pair of good mics in that room, and cut a record with little to no editing. I've also seen G3 (Satriani, Malmsteen, and Vai) who also put on a great show.
Saw Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention at the Fillmore East, Blood Sweat & Tears (but was too young to remember much). The Blues Breakers at Max's Kansas City. Van Halen, Whitesnake, Dokken and the Scorpions.
