Has anyone tried this? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Heres an interesting test.
I just installed TomTom Nav6 on my TyTN II but the map seems a little outdated and I have no way of updating the map. If anyone knows how to for "free" id like some advice.
BUT...
I also have a new TomTom One that has the newest maps of North America.
So heres the question....
Has anyone tried to copy their North America map from an original TomTom One device and transfer it to their TomTom Navigator version on their PDA?
Is this even posible? Do the two devices use the same file format?
If so, this would be amazing, I could update all my maps with my TomTom One, and just transfer the files over to the TyTN II.
Wadaya think guys?

Careful, asking for "Free" maps is requesting WAREZ and can lead to a ban so consider this a warning.
As for your second question, it really depends on which version of TomTom you are running on your phone. Backup your current maps and give it a try.

im not sure he's asking for free maps he's just wondering if he can use the maps off is stand alone tomtom GPS unit for the Navigatror on his PPC and it dosent work I tried it a long time ago. Best option is to buy new maps.

Damn that sucks, oh well. I guess it woulda been worth a shot.
What exactly happens when you try to run it with the different file. Maybe someone can alter the file so Navigator will recognize it.
OR. Navigator might need more files than just the one Map file. Im not sure if anyone has any programing experience with TomTom, but theres always a way around everything

And agin I will remind you that asking to work around TomTOm's map security is asking about WAREZ.
2nd Warez warning in one thread.

im not asking for WAREZ...i OWN a TomTom one, I OWN at TyTN II. I OWN the software on the TomTom. I OWN the software on the TyTN II.
All i wanted to do was transfer one map to the other device if it was posible. What does this have to do with "downloading" cracks, hacks, torrents, keygens etc.
Last I heard trasfering files from two deviced that you own, along with the software on them, was legal. If im wrong for wanting to do that, I apoligize and wont mention "Warez" again. Sorry.

I think your best bet is contacting tomtom, and telling them about your owned software and whether they can cut you a deal
Tell them how you're a valued customer, how you might migrate to copilot or garmin, etc.

The reason why it is considered WAREZ, is because of the fact that if you do own the maps, you own ONE copy of it, if you wanted another, you would have to purchase it for another device.

been done
i'm not saying the transfering of maps has been done, i'm saying that this has been talked about atleast twice that I have seen. what we decided elseware was that it would be infringement on some copywrites and that it would not be done or talked about on here. I would say that since kyphur has given you two warnings you take our word for it. been tried, failed and even if it is done we will not let you know how to do it because that would be making us an accessory. google probably won't help you either sorry man.

You can run any tomtom map on your pda, but you will need a key to register the map.
And that software is illegal, but it is out there.

Not strictly true ..
Tomtom on the PDA is circa 6.032, and will run maps up to circa 6.75.
Tomtom One, Go, 3/5/7/9xx etc. can have their firmware / OS updated via Tomtom Home to version 7, this is not available to PDA devices - Only stand alone Sat nav devices.
The latest maps will only run on version 7 OS, and since you cannot update Tomtom PDA version 6, the maps will not work.
This is regardless of warez etc.
FYI - some files have different filetypes !!
If you read (on dubious websites) offers to install the latest maps on Tomtom, they refer to version 7 on version 7 stand alones and not PDA's
If you want the latest maps, get a Tomtom One (or Go etc.)
This post does not condone software theft !

Yeesh, relax, he's not trying to do anything illegal teacher. I suppose next we'll hear a lecture on how it's evil to make recordings for your PERSONAL use of music you already OWN and have PAID for, ya know, most of the time this forum can be so helpful, but at times like this, so annoying.

If he own a TT license he can use the upd. tools from the very comp he made this tread. Might be my bad english but I read that hes asking for a workaround on license not to get the ap. working. This board is never annoying, and if so (...) dont see any gun to youre head

It looks like they've packed TT7 with the HTC Diamond and it's working on the Kaiser.

On my Italian Kaiser I'm usin Igo2008 right now cause my TomTom lots of time doesn't syncronize street at real time (and few time I was wrong way LOL)...
In my sig ...
AdriaRoute is by far the best solution for Slovenia. It is quite precise when we come to streets and house numbers, customised POIs are nice add-on too. There are some drawbacks, but nothing serious.
Was using TomTom too, but its coverage is poor for our area, although there are some small areas with better coverage and details than AdriaRoute
I also like the response time finding an alternative way, way better than Garmin XT. New version solved this problem a bit, but still.
Both programs can read and speak Slovenian.
Depends on the country
I think this depends very much on where your using the device, i belive in the states theres some software called route 66 which is pretty good.. although ive never tried it.
In the uk i would recomend tomtom, this does have maps for most of europe as well, but like someone else stated the maps can be poor in some areas.
and if you don't want to srearch much and you want something free google maps mobile is you answer!!!
For voice routing/etc I use TomTom Navigator 6. It's great for where I am. I'm located in the US and I've used it in several states. Prompts, re-routing, directions, etc are all pretty accurate. I've used a few others but could never get used to it.
I also use Google Maps for quick location search, which works well on the device.
I use google maps, cause it seems like its the only one that
1. Is Free
2. Has maps for new zealand
Which one's are free?
I use both TomTom and Google.
For long trips I use TomTom, but local I use Google. I do like google better just because its easy to use and find food, and gas and stores around where ever I am, and also will import the info into my contacts as well if I need.
Am I right in assuming that Google Maps only does turn-by-turn which you must manually progress through your route?
I tried it out and this is what it seems to do...which is a nice program, but not exactly GPS software.
Am I missing how to use a feature of it or am I right in assuming it is basically like using the google maps webpage to get directions?
Oh I think I did know you can use the GPS to locate yourself to plan the initial route...but it doesn't track as you go, does it?
i'am in chile, and i use gps proxy with garminque and works perfect...
Yes Google and Microsoft Live both will route and track you on a moving map, but they don't have "heading up" and don't talk. But they are good free apps to keep on the phone for locating POI's etc.
In the US I prefer iGuidance v4 hands down because of talking street names, something few PDA versions have at the moment.
iGuidance ****
I have had good luck with iGuidance! link in my sig....

is there a way to download googlemaps Maps?

its hard to search this question, since im including the word "maps" twice.
is there a way to download maps for googlemaps? like we would with any other GPS software?
we download ( actually, generate ) the map from google map to use it with a home brew gps software on the PSP (mapthis ) . Even you can download the map, you need a map or gps software to make it work for Kaiser.
give this a shot
http://www.mgmaps.com/
this seems a bit hard to use...ill keep trying, but i dont think im gonna get far.
Give this a try. I think the author probably had bother with google, so as it is no longer developed I have included a keygen with it.
I've used aerial images ripped with this in Memory Map quite sucessfully.
Mod Edit: No warez on this forum please. Strike 1

DeviceID

Hi,
I need a little help.
I've not had my Diamond for long and new to WinMo and I'm trying to put TT7 on it, but I need to get the DeviceID, but don't know where to locate it?
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks,
DG.
If you already installed TT then connect your phone to PC and locate navigator.bif file! openit with Notepad and there you find a lots of info, and your device ID
Also, device ID should popup when you launch the program with directions to activate the installed map. ( at leat with Tom Tom 6
If you had be using a purchased version of TT then you would not need to locate the DeviceID

Hey, had the same problem m8
heres what you do
open tomtom7, on the map in the botton right hand corner is the time and right below is satelite connecton indicator. Tap that and then tap ''version'', also botton right hand corner. And BAM there is your DeviceID.
Deeds.
Thanks guys!
I'm going to try that tonight... hope I don't have too much trouble with it... after readying here, it seems people are having a bit of a mare with it!
Windoze9t8, I know I should be using a purchased one, but after coughing up 350 queens heads on a phone, another 200 on a piece of software if a little extreme! (well, thats the cost on the tomtom site!)
I got tt7, it says its for HTC, hope it works!
Wish me luck!

Yes but where to buy TT7?
Indeed you wont need a device ID when you have purchased and or use tomtom maps legally you can see your device ID.
You cant buy tt7 (yet) tt6 will work
No joy with TT7 anyway!
The Home2Go or whatever it is could not install / run after I copied it to the phone? I'm either doing something totally wrong or I got the wrong file.
It was the legal one you get from tomtom website, then you install that and then the maps... apparently!
Any other free apps? I tried google maps, but it uses a data connection and I just want to use the GPS so it doesn't be costing me anymore monies!
Just out of interest (legal copy or not) when I connect to the phone via ActiveSync, do I just generally copy apps there and run them, or is there a way to install them from my machine to the phone via ActiveSync? For TT7 I created a folder called 'Navigation' and put it in there (obviously from reading above, it didn't work!)
If only it a drag and drop hey...
DG
sorry if i am wrong, but nobody here know that the device id is in:
settings/system/device information/identity ? are you speaking about IMEI? isn't this the device identity? i think there is also a key combination you "dial" and the phone will return you the IMEI..i don't remember which.

This is not true. If you'd previously been using TT on a different device then you will need to give the DeviceID to TomTom (direct or via www.ttcode.com) in order to reactivate your maps on the new device. I had to do this when moving from a C500 to an M600.

The DeviceID is a 'TomTom-ism' - a code that TomTom uses to uniquely identify your device. It must be obtained through some process involving fixed identities of the device and so whilst it could well be derived from IMEI it is not actually the IMEI itself.

Give the ID yes, but you dont have to locate it as the code splash screen appears with the code on - which you then provide to the site ttcode.com, if one is trying to find the code in the bif file then that method is being used as a hacked version of TT - repacked
Although you have the ability to activate TT on other devices every six months TTs agreement indicates you may only use the product once on one device.

it is £50 for the Western Europe version of TT 7.** maps and the application is around on the net.
Dont get me wrong I'm not having a go - just making a point. I am really P*Off with TT as they do not offer an upgrade policy for people who have early version maps like myself.

AFAIK the only official way to get TT7 is by purchasing a Diamond with it pre-installed like the German XDA form O2 (maybe other countries too) then you can get the 7.2 version maps from the TT website.

im trying to install tt7 on my tilt i can install the free one city map it comes with but when i try to install the usa map it says invalid activation code. So, indeed i too need find how to install.

How do you install this software - please help

How do you install TomTom 6 on a HTC Diamond? I got it working on an old HTC device without problems but on the Diamond it says 'no maps found'.
If this question has already been answered please point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance.
Your copy of TomTom 6 is a legit full copy including over a gig's worth of data, right? not just some cab you found floating around here?
Anyway you may need to install it on your device off your chip (the install is triggered by an autorun file) where you also have map and other data stored. I've had no problems with this over many roms on my last two phones however be advised that some roms, romeos for example, fire up the autorun if the chip's in on the first boot whereas on others, rre for example, it may not appear to do anything but possibly install in the background.
So what's the specific problem? Gets to the install but cannot find maps? Bottom line though you need the full copy from the TomTom people to have any shot yourself and you need that full copy to be legit (versus cracked) if you want anyone on xda to attempt to help you. Not suggesting it ain't but just advising you.
One thing potentially helpful that I will go ahead and throw your way now is suggesting you throw in the towel on tomtom for now and check out amazegps which I hear is free, turn by turn, voice -- basically tomtom except no huge install, rather it downloads data as you drive which is okay if you've got a car charger and are driving where there's cell coverage ideally in the country native to your carrier. I don't quite now yet why it's free, perhaps they've got some datamining or advertising dreams they sold on some venture capitalists and got lucky. Haven't tried it myself but if you do I'd appreciate it if you'd report back your findings on my website.
http://www.amazegps.com/index.php?page=register (oh yeah you have to register to get your secret code but not too much private info)
Good luck with all that...

I appreciate your input/advice but please spare me the self righteous cr*p. It's over a gigs worth of data but it is a copy. It worked perfectly on my HTC Touch.
The actual problem? Installs OK, the app launches but it doesn't function because the 'no maps found' error is displayed.
Thanks Deech, I will give that a go.

Searching for applications

Hello. I have been searching the internet, without any luck though of finding the programs i want.
First, i want a program, like ShopSavvy is for the Android, where i can use it on my touch pro to scan barcodes of products and find the best price.
Second, i am wondering if there is a way to have Google Street View on the touch pro. I have already seen KDKobes Google Maps Street View 2.3.1, from our forum. I was wondering though if there is an "official" or "fully working" program, as in KDJobes program unfortunately, location-data support and GPS integration aren’t working with this version of Google Maps.
Third, i want a program, like I-phone has, for Drinks (bartender?), same cool skins and graphics environment maybe?
Fourth, again like I-phone has a program where you record a song on the phone and then it goes through the internet and finds you possible matches.
Please, bare with me, as i a m new and maybe i didn't have enough luck or "easiness" finding these type of programs i want. Yes maybe i saw some "looking like them but weren't afterwards the programs i wanted, cause their functionality wasn't after all what i was searching for and was mislead by their Title Name.
So if you please know any "freeware/ or have to buy" programs that are exaclty as the one's i have described please feel free to post and tell me.
Thank you very much in advance,
Chris
let's see
1. barcode readers:
i-nigma barcode reader
QuickMark 3.3
Aura - but donno if this still works.....
2. Street view is officially supported by the latest Google Maps
http://www.google.com/mobile/default/maps.html
3. didn't heard of such a program for wm
4. i know a program it's called Music ID
hope that helps try to search harder next time
search diamond beer for a drink app that turns your phone into a glass of alcohol , if you mean a bartender then just do more searching also the site Fuzemobility.com is now your best friend go there all the time look at everything there . if you still haven changed ROMS on your phone i suggest you go get NRG's new winmo6.5 build 3.0 ROM . it has alot of improvements over the stock ROM , anymore questions just ask me
Is there an app that uses the GPS to track how much you've cycled and your speed etc? I think such apps exist for the iPhone but I'm looking for something for windows mobile.
gotta love fuzemobility lol

Just giving you a heads up don't go looking for everything that the Iphone has for your phone. Most of the time it will not be there. on to you questions
Shop savvy is a great program. Our closest thing is "Barcoroma"
Google street view. I use google maps from NRG'z Rom and I can get street view on it.
Drinks IDK your on you own for this one
Song recognition. Well try out Music ID works great for me.
Repository
Where does everyone go to get there the PPC software?
I go to http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php, although its not complete list and new releaase of an application can take a couple of days to make it to thier site. I find the site easy to navigate and search. The catagories and rating system help for filtering.
about the drink mix
i suggest watching this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496880&highlight=drinks
perhaps something will be done.
