Really annoying bug from Microsoft Calendar
When you select option to display upcoming appointments and also checked to display all day events, it will not display the all day events !
http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsMobile/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2045397&SiteID=65
Anyone know which good and small application to replace this Calendar plugin?
PocketBreeze is nice, but it is too complicated just for showing several events in advance.
Calendar+ is nice and freeware, but I dont know if it is running fine on WM6 (there was a report said it wont run on WM6).
IMHO, PocketBreeze and SPB Diary (I think that's the name), is the best plugin for calendar events. While they can be a bit complicated to set up (so does your PPC compared to a cheap model of Nokia), it can work pretty much to the way you want it to. E.g., I'm using PBreeze, I can have the top tab row remove, just showing the schedule, for 7 days. Everything is in 1 place, colour coded. Yes, you REALLY need to dig in to make it works for you.
Anyway, you can perhaps try the freeware, TodayAgenda. Not sure if it works on WM6, but it is *like* a much lighter version of Pocket Breeze, with easy settings.

Or you might wanna fidle with the regisrty a bit.... Numerous WM5 hacks work perfectly on a WM6 device... Check out the wiki's
I recommend Calendar+, it is an excellent replacement for the normal
Calendar plugin, highly customizable and looks great. Best of all,
it's free.

Try it and see! Works fine on my TyTN II
Thanks guys, I will give it (calplus) a go later today.
One bug down, still another one :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330224
Although the Calendar+ is working fine, it has small annoying bug
In the Today screen, I only have 3 items:
- HTC Home
- Calendar+
- TomTom 6
After soft-reset, the TomTom 6 is gone from the Today screen!
However, the setting is still there in the Today setting.
I must uncheck then check again to make the TomTom 6 appear.
Well, I think, I will move the TomTom 6 to the program launcher tab.
Just use TodayAgenda, it's free and it works like a charm....i use the 1.0 Beta with no problems what so ever....
I am now considering to use TodayAgenda, but the display looks complicated (cluttered)
With Calendar+ , I can resize the text as small as possible and display each appointment as compact as possible (single line). So, it is very clean without much of icons.
so i got a t-mobile wing. my first smart phone. its amazing. anyways i have a few questions:
1. Where can i get a nice big digital clock today screen plugin? i see them on screen shots of peoples screens but i can't find any.
2. Are there any good weather today screen plugins?
3. Some people (or at least on other devices) have SMS as a softkey, mine are calendar and contacts, is there a simple option to make the calendar softkey be SMS instead? or do i have to edit the registry or something crazy like that to get it?
4. Do i really have to worry about viruses on this thing? i saw something like WM5 Anti Virus program, so im just wondering.
5. What is the best browser to use?
if you guys could help me that would be great. i have yet to find a forum about WM6 or the Wing that where people actually go to the site.
All of those and more are located within the forum in easy to find threads. The great thing about looking around the forum is you will find stuff out that you never even thought of. I would recommend reading and getting acquainted to the forums, its a much better way to learn than someone just linking you somewhere. And congrats on your new Wing.

this is HTC home plugin
2. Are there any good weather today screen plugins?
HTC home plugin shows weather. if not try SPB Weather, SPB Traveler, SPB phone suite (the only ones I have experience with)
3. Some people (or at least on other devices) have SMS as a softkey, mine are calendar and contacts, is there a simple option to make the calendar softkey be SMS instead? or do i have to edit the registry or something crazy like that to get it?
Go to Settings, Buttons to change the softkeys

In my opinion, no not really ... just be considerate of what you install on your phone and what executable files you run.
5. What is the best browser to use?
I haven't settled on one yet, but I use Mozilla's MINIMO and OPERA 8.X apart from IE.

Hope this helps
i guess my other post didn't show up? well every search results in HTC Home or TouchFlo.
i don't want all the stuff from HTC home, just the clock and simple weather, no tabs or any of that stuff. is there a way to have just the clock and/or weaher?
and thanks for your help
also, going to settings>buttons has no optinos for softkeys, only hardware keys.
opera mobile is a lot better, i like how you can scroll by dragging on the screen.
I do use Opera most of the time, I've just always been a big supporter of Mozilla stuff ... so I keep it around
I just wanted to give you a few options so you could try them out for yourself and see what you liked.
i havn't tried minimo because i heard it was slow and uses a lot of memory. is that true?
Hi to all.
I am a new owner of a TyTN II and former owner of 9090 and S710. I would like which is the best calendar and phone manager (missed calls) application?
I don't know about phone manager, but as concerns calendar application, I think that SPB diary is probably the best....
I go with Spb Diary and Spb Phone Suite......
I use Agenda One. For me the best, Great piece of software !
maybe he means phone explorer ( phone manager )
if that is what it means so you have only one choice
resco explorer
I'll throw in the combo I like:
PocketInformant
http://www.pocketinformant.com/?p_id=pocketinformant
SBSH PhoneWeaver
http://www.sbsh.net/product.php?id=28
SBSH PocketBreeze

Total Commander is a good free alternative for file managing
For calendar, Calendar+ is my preferred Today plugin. I bought pocketbreeze (which is similar to SPB Diary I think) when it was on special offer, but in the end I found I preferred Calendar+. I also tried TodayAgenda and, while it was good, it didn't suit me.
For missed call notifications (which seems to be missing in WM6), you might want to consider PhoneAlarm and SPB Phone Suite.

I've tried both SPB Diary and Pocket Informant. I think the second one is definately more customizable but I don't like the today screen that much and i have some problems with the GREEK language. I like the spb diary today plugin but it doesn't have links for emails and phone numbers on the appointments, so that I can call someone easily. Also when you open the appointment if the title is long you have to scroll with the arrows.. Is there a program that can combine these? I will give Agenda One a try!!
I am testing Agenda One now. It is probably the most useful application available.
I tried Agenda One, but found that it didn't have all of the features I wanted. Agenda Fusion is similar to Agenda One, but has more capabilities. Agenda Fusion is working great for me.
Oooops! I somehow double-posted.
Just curious. What do all these 3rd party calendar software have that Outlook doesn't. I've tried a few, and have always gone back to Outlook. It's nice and simple to use.
I dont call thumbcal the best , but as of now its suit my need. Very simple and finger friendly = what I want from a calendar.

I'm using this exact same set of S/W. Working well for me. PocketInformant has many better calendar views than PocketOutlook. PocketBreeze gives me flexible ways to put my calendar on my homescreen. If you go to a lot of meetings (and/or use Outlook to keep your personal calendar too) these types of views are very helpful.
Hello,
I've just tried Pocket Informant, which is very great, but it seems to not fit my necessity as I was expecting. It has "all" but what I need.
I simply need to set my "class" timetable for university. I don't want to use Excel or something similar. I thought something like pocket informant was the best one to do that, but it seems a little bit complicate. It also maybe I'm not able to use PI very well.
I also want to not use PI to view my contacts. Is there some place where I can select what PI should manage and what not? For example, I don't want Activities to be managed by PI. What to do?
Thanks a lot.
Call Calendar
One of the best ones I use, It logs all calls into your phones calendar, then will put it onto your outlook or exchange server as a private appointment.

Pocket Informant (the newest one) has settings called 'Roles' under which you can choose whether PI is the default app for calendar / tasks / contacts
Thanks a lot aberz! I'll try it as soon as possible!
EDIT: I've just tried it. That's really cool! Thank you!
...
Thank you rabdo, I'm going to look for that "role"... I hope to find it!! There are a lot of possible settings !!!
EDIT: I found it. It works very well now.
Bye!
I love Pocket Breezer, I've always used PB since I had MDA Vario and now I've got MDA Vario III but still using PB.
I just wanted to compile a list of application you guys must have on your PDA?
I've done tweeking my rom and now looking for some solid applications to add to the phone..
List all applications you install once after a hard reset!
-Tomtom Navigator
Heh, just downloaded Dutty's Hybrid ROM with the full intention of flashing it (as I'm still using Schaps' 4.31). Then sat down and listed all the soft I have installed... and cried bloody tears.
So much stuff to reinstall, re-register, restore saves/bookmarks to! Yes, I know of UC, Sashimi, and stuff, but still... that's an awful lot.
K, here goes for anyone interested (in order of original installation/upgrade):
SKKV SK Tools
Mortscript
Weather Panel (+ Hourly Fix)
TaskManager ITA Big Buttons
S2U2
Finger-Friendly Friends
Ultimate Launch
HTC Home Customizer
RC Mod
Pocket Informant 8
Cyberon Voice Dialer
Batti
Mobipocket Reader
SPB Diary, Traveler, Finance, Wallet, Time
Resco Explorer, Audio Recorder, Photo Viewer, Radio
FDC Softkey Applet
VGAKEY keyboard
SRS_WOW_HD
Green Skin for Audio Manager
and about 20 games, mostly puzzle and RPG.
And, of course, iGo My Way 2006 Plus and AutoMapa, both navigation software.
To answer your original question: most of these are a must for me. Sorry, cannot be more specific.

That'd be very kind of you, thanks
Indeed the software-Wiki could use some updating, as, for example, it lists only a few of Resco and SPB progs, and relatively old ones at that.
SPB Traveler, for instance, (mostly) duplicates the functionalities of SPB Weather and Time while adding quite a few of its own.
SPB Wallet (and its many brothers, like eWallet, SplashID, or CodeWallet) is another killer app, as it saves the hassle of remembering oodles of passwords, codes, keys, combinations, sizes, URLs, account numbers... you name it.

It's a wiki so you can add things yourself. I just created it about 1-2 weeks ago so it hasn't been around that long. Hell, I wish the damn thing would get stickied but it doesn't look like it is.

Hello, I have a Kaiser and I have come to the conclusion that the Calendar on it sucks. I've been looking around for a Calendar application that works with Google Calendar, I tried Pocket Informant, which was perfect, except it doesn't work with Google Calendar.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any program I could try?
ThumbCal v1.3.5
Yupp, Thumbcal is the ****...
thank you. I was using Pocket Informant, but Thumbcal seems better, less fiddly. I was also using Oggsync to get my google calendar information from google onto the Thumbcal, but i've just found this:
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&ctx=sibling
which allows me to do what seems to be exactly the same thing, except 30 euro's cheaper. Now I just have to "buy" Thumbcal.
I've been using Pocket Informant, but trying out ThumbCal since it looks pretty neat. How does one set a category when creating an appointment? I can't seem to find it.
And can't find a manual for the program either. It's pretty simple, but it could have 'hidden' features, or explanation for some items.
I use Manilla in my kaiser, so when i open calendar in the home tab it still opens the old wm calendar. does anybody knows how to change it into the main one ?

Depends what app using but i use SBSH Calendar Touch and have hooked into M2D with the bellow info.

The only problem with Google's own syncing program, is that it will not handle multiple calendars. :-( They acknowledge this as an issue and have offered no intention to change it.
I happen to like the stock outlook calendar, I just wish you could do colors for categories.
