Ok folks, I'm looking for something that probably doesn't exist ... an SMS handler/reader that can file SMS's by a set of rules.
I get lots of SMS's from an in-house monitoring system that are always in the same format of space separated fields, but related to different customers and different jobs. It'd be great to have some automated method of grouping 'like' messages together, either in a folder or a thread.
So ... is there any app that will do some automated filing based on the contents of an SMS?
I did have something that did this back in the Windows 2003 days, but it hasn't been updated to 6.x.

I've been looking for a program that could send SMSes to lists, like forward an important SMS to colleagues, jokes to friends etc. The cases are numerous. But even after having created custom categories and assigned them to each contact, there still didn't seem a way to use the categories for this purpose.
But I found Group SMS 1.4.1 over on softonic that adds a menu item "Add Group" which lists the categories that exist in the contact list, and lets you check which you want to add people from. On the next screen you remove checkmarks from those in those categories that you dont want to be added.
Very helpful, I hope it comes in handy for someone else.
Hey Shen why did you not post this just one day earlier. Yesterday was our Eid Festival and I was scrolling through my list of around 400 contacts selecting one by one whom to pick and whom to leave out while sending out "Eid Greetings" message. It took me kind of 45 minutes for just that. You know I really cursed MS for not building into their operating system something as basic as this. So well done I have not tried this yet but I am sure this is what I need.
Yeah I know how annoying that was But I had just found out about that program an hour before I posted here
yeah its a great app used it on my hermes as well to text my team, didn't know there was the add group function on my contacts list when i installed it until last week. Just by chance i found it.
It sure was frustrating when I didn't find any "Send to list" or "Send to group" option when i tried adding recipients for the first time.
Anyone know if theres any app for the TyTN II that combines group sms with disctintive sms sounds?
Are there any apps out there that allow for rule-based management/organization of SMS messages?
Specifically, I'd like to have a whitelist of users that can send messages that conform to some rule, which triggers some sort of event. Ideally, I'd like to be able to somehow parse the SMS message to add data to another program on the phone (or for simplicity's sake, add an entry to the task list). I figure if the program I'm looking for can simply export the message as a file to a directory on the phone, I can easily write a quick and dirty little app that simply monitors that directory for new files, parses them, puts the data where it needs to go, and then deletes the file.
I've read about SMSOrganizer/SMSCreative, but was hoping someone out there knew of some other options I haven't yet discovered. Oh yeah...and if the solution's free, then all the better!
I'm looking for an app that can compose and send an email with just a click from the home screen.
Ideally, it coule be set to ask for bits of variable information. So I could write an email template where the recipient is preset (or left as a variable), the subject is preset or can contain a variable as well, and most of the body is preset except for one variable. For example:
To: [email protected]
Subject: Make sure to buy [UserInputHere] today!
Message: You should buy this at [UserInputHere]'s market!
This would be incredibly useful for interacting with all sorts of bots like gmail (when combined with filters etc ...) or task.fm or rememberthe milk.
DG QuickCut is the closest (the customi shortcuts) but alas does not allow me to make templates or even set the subject or message body.
Can someone create this app?
I have been exchanging tons of SMS messages with a bunch of my friends. HTC Diamond does a good job of displaying the messages chronologically that i would have exchanged with a specific person if i tap on his/her name. However, it restricts the number of messages shown and i need to keep tapping on Older... again and again to see the older messages.
Is there a way that i can copy/download/save the entire SMS conversation i've had with a specific person? I don't want to copy/paste text manually into a file as it would take ages. Any tool/utility/application that exists to facilitate this ...preferably freeware !
Thanks
MyPhone can sync all of your text messages
Is there an app for windows phone that actually sends the scheduled texts automatically? I've searched for a while and noticed some old windows mobile apps that do, while the winphone ones only remind you to send those sms.

EDIT:
Came across this piece of news "OnTime SMSer App is used to send SMS at the scheduled Date and Time.
NOTE: Windows Phone does not allow you to send sms "directly" or "silently" from app. Hence on scheduled Date and Time a reminder would pop up giving the user the option to send the message or not."
Is this really the case here? the OS is preventing the automatic sms sending?

Yep. At least there's no public API allowing sending of SMS, OEMs might be able to do it but no one did so far. The only thing apps can do is open a new compose message window with a recipient and text, you still have to click send manually.

Thanks awfully
Yeah. The APIs exist (obviously) but they're private, and they require private app capabilities to use. Microsoft wouldn't allow third-party apps to use those capabilities even if they could access the relevant APIs.
I've thought about writing a homebrew app to try messing with SMS just for fun, but there's so many more promising avenues of hacking available that I'm not likely to have the time to do that for a good while unless there's some urgent reason why it's needed.
